Deal With The Devil

This was released as the second single from Pop Evil's third album, Onyx. It acted as the follow-up to their first #1 on the active rock radio chart, "Trenches."

Drummer Chachi Riot said about the song: "Life can be wonderful, but life can also be extremely merciless. How do we deal with these hard times? Who do we have to deal with? Our decisions have consequences."

The song's music video is part two of a three part video trilogy that revolves around addiction and abuse. It goes in reverse order, with "Trenches" being the final installment and the opening part featuring the song "Behind Closed Doors."

Directed by Johan Carlén, the trilogy follows a woman going through a transformation. In the "Deal With The Devil" clip, she shoots up heroin and is confronted by demons.

Torn To Pieces

This song deals with the loss of frontman Leigh Kakaty 's father. He said: "There's nothing more haunting and torturous to the human soul than the feeling of losing someone close to you without saying goodbye."

Veteran Swedish director Johan Carlén directed the visual, which was Pop Evil's fourth video installment from their Onyx album. "Digging up the past can be very difficult," said Kakaty. "Losing someone close to you has a healing process, and I choose to do it through this video."

Other music clips on Carlén's resume include the ones for Avatar's "Smells Like a Freakshow and Diamond Dawn's "Take Me Higher."

The song is very personal to Leigh Kakaty. "'Torn To Pieces' is a song that's very close to me," he told The Pulse of Radio . "You know, after losing my father on [second album] War Of Angels, it was a song that I had written for myself for personal reasons. And the band kind of stepped in and said, 'Look, if this song can help others, you know, I really think you should stop being selfish and, you know, let others heal from it.' You know, I took that to heart — you know, when the guys talk, they're usually right."

This song deals with the suffering that presents itself when no one else is looking. Singer Leigh Kakaty told The Birmingham News: "Behind closed doors is where a lot of people's pain starts from. If you can give people a song they can relate to, maybe they can change their life and make it happier by moving forward."

The video is the third in a trilogy, all directed by Johan Carlen. The clip is actually the first portion of a story that has been told in reverse, starting with "Trenches" and "Deal With The Devil."

The trilogy follows a woman who battles her demons. In the "Behind Closed Doors" clip, we see her cutting herself and destroying her surroundings as she lashes out.
