Battleground Lyrics

One more shot across the bow
One more bullet through the heart
You've got me bleeding on the ground
I got you wounded in the dark
Why do we always, take this way too far

Surrender tonight this time save tomorrow
Mama don't you let me down
This broken alliance
Leaves me so hollow
And wondering how

Did the bed that we made
Become our Battleground

When the damage has been done
I know you hurt so don't pretend
Where we're used to making love
Now we're making war instead
Before it's too late
Lay your arms down let me in

Surrender tonight this time save tomorrow
Mama don't you let me down
This broken alliance
Leaves me so hollow
And wondering ho

Did the bed that we made
Become our battleground

Just hold your fire long enough to see
This ain't how it's supposed to be

Once all that we've got is lost
The walls will fall
Please don't let them fall on me

Oh

I wanna lay you down
Surrender all the sorrow, the sorrow
Wanna lay you down
Surrender till it's gone

I wanna lay you down
Surrender till tomorrow, tomorrow
Wanna lay you down
Surrender till it's gone
Yeah

Just surrender till it's gone
Just surrender till it's gone

I don't wanna fight no more
Say, I can feel it all there
I wanna tell right just then and there oh
Say yeah
Say yeah

I don't wanna fight this battle anymore.

  • World On Fire is the second studio album featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. The record was produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette, who also helmed Alter Bridge's Blackbird, AB III and Fortress long players. Myles Kennedy told Blabbermouth why he was pleased to hook up with producer again: "His ability to get the best out of a rock band is pretty special," he said. "He always seems to be aware of what the fans want to hear from an artist."

"He did a great job documenting Slash's tone and sound," Kennedy continued. "I remember the first time I heard the solo for 'Battleground' — I was blown away. Elvis captured the sonic hallmarks that made Slash's playing resonate with me 25 years ago. Elvis is hands-on with every element of the recording process. From the arrangements to the final mix, he is relentless at making sure that the record is everything it should be and more."
