Flawless Lyrics

I'm bout that H, town coming coming down
I'm coming down, drippin' candy on the ground
H, Town, Town, I'm coming down, coming down
Drippin' candy on the ground

I know when you were little girls
You dreamt of being in my world
Don't forget it, don't forget it
Respect that, bow down bitches
I took some time to live my life
But don't think I'm just his little wife
Don't get it twisted, get it twisted
This my shit, bow down bitches
Bow down bitches, bow bow down bitches (Crown)
Bow down bitches, bow bow down bitches (Crown)
H Town bitches
H, H Town bitches
I'm so crown crown, bow down bitches

I'm about that H, town, coming coming down
I'm coming down, drippin' candy on the ground
H, Town, Town, I'm coming down, coming down
Drippin' candy on the ground

We teach girls to shrink themselves
To make themselves smaller
We say to girls
"You can have ambition
But not too much
You should aim to be successful
But not too successful
Otherwise you will threaten the man"
Because I am female
I am expected to aspire to marriage
I am expected to make my life choices
Always keeping in mind that
Marriage is the most important
Now marriage can be a source of
Joy and love and mutual support
But why do we teach girls to aspire to marriage
And we don't teach boys the same?
We raise girls to each other as competitors
Not for jobs or for accomplishments
Which I think can be a good thing
But for the attention of men
We teach girls that they cannot be sexual beings
In the way that boys are
Feminist: the person who believes in the social
Political, and economic equality of the sexes

You wake up, Flawless
Post up, flawless
Ride round in it, flawless
Flossin on that, flawless
This diamond, flawless
My diamond, flawless
This rock, flawless
My rock, flawless
I woke up like this
I woke up like this
We flawless, ladies tell 'em
I woke up like this
I woke up like this
We flawless, ladies tell 'em
Say I, look so good tonight
God damn, God damn
Say I, look so good tonight
God damn, God damn

Momma taught me good home training
My Daddy taught me how to love my haters
My sister taught me I should speak my mind
My man made me feel so God damn fine

You wake up, flawless
Post up, flawless
Ride round in it, flawless
Flossin on that, flawless
This diamond, flawless
My diamond, flawless
This rock, flawless
My rock, flawless
I woke up like this
I woke up like this
We flawless, ladies tell 'em
I woke up like this
I woke up like this
We flawless, ladies tell 'em
Say I, look so good tonight
God damn, God damn
Say I, look so good tonight
God damn, God damn

Flawless
  • Formerly known as "Bow Down," this was the first song to be heard from Beyoncé's eponymous fifth album. It was released on March 17, 2013 on the singer's Soundcloud along another tune titled "I Been On" and it found her commanding her female adversaries to praise all that she's done.

I know when you were little girls you dreamt of being in my world
Don't forget it, don't forget it
Respect that, and bow down bitches

Drawing controversy with the first music released in advance of a new album, is a tactic that Beyoncé has used before. She introduced her 4 album with "Run the World (Girls)," which caused critics to spill a lot of ink concerning its aggressive woman's empowerment message.
  • "Bow Down" later morphed into this less abrasive version, which still contains the the "bow down bitches" refrain but inserts a clarification of the singer's original intention as well as a spoken word passage against sexism provided by famed Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The sample is taken from a message the Half of a Yellow Sun author delivered in a talk at the TEDxEuston called "We should all be feminists" in April 2013.
  • This was produced by Chauncey "Hit-Boy" Hollis, who is signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label. The record producer was also behind Lil Wayne's "Drop The World" and Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Niggas In Paris" hit singles. He tweeted at the time of the song's release in its original incarnation:, "Haaaa I finally prod for Hovs wife. Beyoncè was the last person on my list to work with. I can't believe I prod for all my heroes by 25. ... I make that music my heroes get to talk they s--t on. Please never compare me to these other guys who could never make a '1 Train' by A$ap then 'Bow Down' for Beyoncé in the same year. Please."
  • The song begins and ends with a sample of Girls Tyme, the Houston girl band that would eventually turn into Destiny's Child. The two clips are taken from an episode of Star Search, which they competed in back in 1992. They lost to a band named Skeleton Groove.
  • Beyoncé recalled her Girls Tyme performance on Star Search in a featurette. "There's a moment where things click. When I was in the studio, I was threading the songs together and I thought of this performance, which was a really defining moment in my life as a child," she said. "In my mind we would perform on Star Search, we would win, we would get a record deal and that was my dream at the time."

"I feel like something about the aggression of 'Bow Down' and the attitude of 'Flawless,' the reality is, sometimes you lose," Beyoncé continued. "And you're never too good to lose, you're never too big to lose, you're never too smart to lose, it happens. And it happens when it needs to happen. And you have to embrace those things."
  • A remix of the song featuring rapper Nicki Minaj was released unexpectedly on Beyoncé's official website on August 2, 2014. The first collaboration between the two stars, Minaj marks the event drawling, "The queen of rap slayin' with Queen Bey. If you ain't on the team, you playin' for team D."

Beyoncé addresses the elevator altercation between her sister Solange and husband Jay-Z, when she sings "We escalate, up in this bitch like elevators, of course sometime s--t go down when there's a billion dollars on an elevator."

The trio hit headlines earlier in 2014 when surveillance footage emerged showing Solange lashing out at Jay Z as they left a Met Gala after party at a New York hotel. Solange has commented since the incident that the family are "at peace" with what happened.
  • Minaj told Hot 97 how the remix came to be: "A month or two ago, Gee [Roberson] called me when I was on my way to Vegas and said, 'Beyoncé wants you to remix to 'Flawless,'' she said. "After I got proper medical help and started breathing again, I was like, 'What?'"

"She sent me a version that she wanted," Minaj continued. "She told me, 'I want you to be you. I don't want you to hold back." I said, 'You sure?' She said, 'Yeah. I want you to be you and do you." I was actually in New York writing the verse. I recorded the verse in New York and she stopped by the studio. She was such a sweetheart. She was hyping me up, 'Do your thing. Don't hold back. Go in.' I was like, 'Okay. Alright.'"

"She said she was going to drop it in the middle of the [On the Run] tour," The Queens MC added. "I wrote the verse before she even went on tour. We've been going back and forth. I've been sending her photos of myself. We've been going back and forth about the mixes and the single art."
  • The song debuted on the Hot 100 at #82 following its inclusion in Beyoncé's medley performance during the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.
  • The remix with Nikki Minaj was named Best Song of 2014 by Time magazine. They said: "In a year that saw a number of high-profile female pop collaborations, 'Flawless' never topped the charts like 'Fancy,' but what it lacked in radio domination it made up for with sheer star power."
  • The remix contains a horn sample from Outkast's 1998 song "Spottieottiedopaliscious."

  • This Pharrell Williams and Timbaland-produced track finds Beyoncé in a dirty mood as she sings about oral sex. We hear the Texan Queen of Pop Music croon on the Prince-esque tune, "when you lick my skittles. It's the sweetest in the middle." We can assure you she's not talking about candy.
  • The song was Beyonce's first collaboration with Timbaland, who appears later for a call and response. However the Texan singer worked with Pharrell before when he produced "Green Light" and "Kitty Kat" from her B'Day album.
  • Justin Timberlake also contributed to the writing of the song; Beyoncé previously teamed up with the Mirrors singer when she appeared as a guest on his "Until The End Of Time" remix. Timberlake is also a serial collaborator with her husband, Jay-Z.
  • Beyoncé told GQ magazine of working with Pharrell and Timbaland and Justin Timberlake on this song. "We all started in the '90s, when R&B was the most important genre, and we all kind of want that back: the feeling that music gave us."
  • This was initially intended to be the lead pop single from Beyoncé. However, its release was cancelled at the last minute and the label decided to drop "XO" instead.
  • The Hype Williams-directed video was filmed in a roller skating rink in Houston, Texas where Beyoncé skated as a child. The TMZ website said that the surprise release of the Beyoncé album and music clips was kept a secret from nearly everybody who was involved in its production. A girl named Morgan Hebert was one of the dancers in the visual, which was filmed in September 2013, and the Texan and her team made sure no one truly knew what was going on. "She and a few other dancers from Beyonce's Super Bowl show flew to Houston for the two-day shoot and it was like Fort Knox," claimed the outlet. "No cell phones, no pictures, nothing. She also had to sign a scary confidentiality agreement. Morgan says she figured it was all for a music video, but didn't expect anything to be released until next year."

  • This rousing pop ballad finds Beyoncé reuniting with previous collaborators Ryan Tedder and The-Dream. Tedder spoke to Australian radio station Nova about the collaboration. "Personally the song we did I like more than 'Halo'. I think it's a bigger, better song," Tedder said. He added: "[The-Dream] did 'Single Ladies', I did 'Halo' so we thought - what would happen if we just did a song together?"
  • Beyoncé performed the song for the first time during the Chicago stop of her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour on December 13, 2013. She told the crowd: "I'm gonna sing this song, which is a brand new song. It hasn't even been out for 24 hours. I want to sing this to you all because it was written for you all. This is the first time. Something I'll never forget."
  • The video finds Beyoncé and the girls running loose in an amusement park. It was filmed by fashion photographer Terry Richardson, who also directed Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" clip, on the famed Cyclone roller coaster in Coney Island, New York. Beyoncé's three pals are played by models Jourdan Dunn, Diandra Forrest and Jessica White. Jourdan Dunn's cookery show airs on Jay-Z's Life + Times channel.
  • This was released as the lead single along with "Drunk In Love" from Beyoncé on December 17, 2013. After getting the Bey Hive buzzing with talk of a record release in 2013, by December the singer's fans were resigned to having to wait until the following year for a new offering from their idol. Then early on December 13th the "visual album" was dropped onto iTunes without any promotion or prior warning. Speaking to Billboard magazine about the time lag before the record was made available to the public, Pharrell Williams, who co-produced the track "Blow" said. "She's very particular. She's not going to put it out until it's ready. When you know what you want, you won't stop until you get it."
  • Beyoncé was the top-selling album all over the world within hours of its release, eventually taking the #1 spot in 104 countries. In smashed the US's previous iTunes one week record of 465,000 downloads of Taylor Swift's Red LP within three days. The 617,000 downloads sold between December 13-15, easily surpassed the 465,000 copies of the Nashville Pop Princess' fourth album in its debut week.
  • Tedder only learnt of Beyoncé's availability an hour and a half before its release. "I knew 90 minutes before it dropped. Ninety minutes. And I said nothing because I love Beyoncé and I don't want her to hate me," he said.

"I heard a rumor and then I didn't say anything. I told my wife, `I think Beyonce's album is dropping in 90 minutes and then I knew that `XO' was on the album," Tedder added. "I knew it was a single. I didn't know if it was first or second. I didn't know anything, and then today I found out that it was the lead."
  • Beyoncé debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, following the chart-topping Dangerously In Love, B'Day, I Am... Sasha Fierce and 4. This meant that Beyoncé became the first woman to top the chart with her first five studio albums. The only two other acts to have taken their first five studio sets to peak position were folk group the Kingston Trio and rapper DMX.
  • The song starts off with a six-second audio clip of former NASA public affairs officer Steve Nesbitt recorded moments after the space shuttle Challenger exploded in 1986. "Flight controllers here looking very carefully at the situation," he states. "Obviously a major malfunction." Former NASA astronauts and families labeled Beyoncé's choice of sample as "insensitive."

Beyoncé responded to the outcry over the audio by expressing her sympathies for the families of those who died in the Challenger disaster and indicating no offense was intended. "My heart goes out to the families of those lost in the Challenger disaster," she said "The song 'XO' was recorded with the sincerest intention to help heal those who have lost loved ones and to remind us that unexpected things happen, so love and appreciate every minute that you have with those who mean the most to you. The songwriters included the audio in tribute to the unselfish work of the Challenger crew with hope that they will never be forgotten."
  • Despite being released on December 14th, Beyoncé sold 1.3 million by the end of the year in the United States making it 2013's best-selling album by a woman. The next-highest ranked leading lady was Katy Perry, with Prism, which sold 969,000 copies. Beyoncé was the eighth best-selling album of the year overall.
  • Beyoncé performed her first televised rendition of this tune during the BRIT awards in London on February 19, 2014. She dedicated the song to her fans as she sang the chorus, "Baby love me lights out." It was the Texan's first performance at the ceremony since 2004 when she sung "Crazy In Love."
  • John Mayer covered the song in April 2014 during one of his shows in Adelaide, Australia. An acoustic studio version of his folk-rock interpretation was made available for digital download on May 27, 2014 and entered the Hot 100 the following week at #90.
  • A singer named Ahmad Javon Lane filed a lawsuit over this song in November 2014 seeking $3 million in damages. The artist who records under the name of Javon alleged he originally wrote a track, titled "XOXO," which he shared with one of Beyonce's background vocalists. The star, according to him, consequently ripped it off for this song.

Beyoncé's attorney brushed the lawsuit off, stating: "The two works at issue are entirely different songs that share no lyrical or musical similarity, other than perhaps the letters 'X' and 'O'…there is no meaningful similarity in pitch series, rhythm or rhythmic patterns, melodic development or structure."

Here is a video of Javon's "XOXO" . Do you think they're similar? The judge obviously didn't think so. He threw the case out after ruling that Ahmad Javon Lane's track contained no discernible resemblance to Beyoncé's hit.

  • The phrase "Pulling a Beyoncé" has come to mean releasing something without warning, following Queen Bey's surprise dropping of her self-titled set.

    Yoncé/Partition Lyrics

    Yoncé/Partition
  • Beyoncé introduces us to a new incarnation, Yoncé, in this two-part club jam. Her new alter ego is someone who likes her grill and being the hottest girl in the club. Beyoncé recalled the creation of Yoncé during an album screening party oat the School of Visual Arts Theatre in New York. "We were in the studio, and Justin Timberlake started beating on buckets," she said. "So, when you hear the beat, it's literally a bucket. And [The-Dream] just started, 'Yonce on his mouth like liquor,' and I'm like, 'What does that mean?'"

"But I love it, I think Beyoncé is Beyoncé, Mrs. Carter is Beyoncé, Sasha Fierce is Beyoncé," she continued. "And I'm finally at a place where I don't have to separate the two. It's all pieces of me, and just different elements of a personality of a woman, because we are complicated."
  • The track opens with the call-and-response that Beyoncé pumps the crowd with before going to "Get Me Bodied" every night on tour.
  • The video for the "Yoncé" section was shot in Brooklyn by director Ricky Saiz and features Beyoncé with the supermodels Chanel Iman, Joan Smalls and Jourdan Dunn. Saiz told MTV News that the R&B star and him created a clip that focused on the themes of "voyeurism and kind of erotic sexuality rather than overt sexuality."

Saiz added that it was, in part, inspired by George Michael's iconic "Freedom" visual, which featured a bevy of supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford. "I just tried to bring like a raw, kind of lo-fi, very New York kind of grimy, dark aesthetic to it," he said.

Saix explained why Beyoncé doesn't sing in the video. "She almost plays like a madam character and the girls are doing the performing for her in a sense," he said. "I think they are so important individually and have their own characters and they each really brought that to the set... [It's] almost like this just happened and we were there with our cameras."

The video finishes with Beyoncé walking down the runway, while photographers snap photos of her. Saiz told MTV News: "We knew the ending of the song was a transition into another song and the last line of the song is 'Welcome to Paris' and there's bulbs flashing and kind of a paparazzi sense. So we wanted to kind of have something that captured that high-flash paparazzi kind of feel and with a runway walk, it made sense in context with the models and left it quiet vague. And I thought it looked beautiful and an easy transition into the next video [which is 'Partition']."
  • The second half of the song, "Partition," refers to the privacy window in limousines - asking the driver to "roll up the partition" means he can't see what's going on back there, and Beyoncé can carry out her prurient intentions, as it quickly becomes clear she is singing about making love in the limousine.
  • Beyoncé sings in French on the bridge, where she criticizes those who believe feminists are not interested in sex. It translates as:

    "Do you like sex?
    Sex
    I mean physical activity, coitus
    You like it?
Are you not interested in sex?
Men think that feminists hate sex
But it's an exciting and natural activity that women love."
  • The Partition video features Beyoncé dancing semi-naked. She discussed stripping in one of her series of of short featurettes on YouTube: "I was 195lbs when I gave birth. I lost 65lbs. I worked crazily to get my body back. I wanted to show my body," the singer explained. "I wanted to show that you can have a child and you can work hard and you can get your body back."

"I know that there's so many women that feel the same thing after they give birth.," Beyoncé continued. "You can have your child and you can still have fun and still be sexy and still have dreams and still live for yourself."
  • The Partition clip was inspired by a trip to the famous Crazy Horse strip club in Paris. "I'm not embarrassed about it, and I don't feel like I have to protect that side of me because I do believe that sexuality is a power we all have," said Beyoncé. "The day I got engaged was my husband's birthday and I took him to Crazy Horse and I remember thinking, 'Damn, these girls are fly.' And I just thought it was the ultimate sexy show: 'I wish I was up there, I wish I could perform that for my man...' so that's what I did for my video."
  • Beyoncé references how Bill Clinton splooged on White House intern Monica Lewinsky's skirt during their infamous sexual encounters.

He popped all my buttons, and he ripped my blouse
He Monica Lewinsky-ed all on my gown

Speaking to the May 8, 2014 edition of Vanity Fair, Lewinsky issued a rebuttal to the scandalous couplet, saying, "Thanks, Beyoncé, but if we're verbing, I think you meant 'Bill Clinton'd all on my gown,' not 'Monica Lewinsky'd.'"
  • The conservative TV show host Bill O'Reilly got worked up over the "Partition" video, playing part of it on his show and asking his guest, music mogul Russell Simmons, to explain why she make such an explicit video. O'Reilly went on about how harmful the video and this type of entertainment is to young girls, and calling it "exploitive garbage." Simmons didn't take the bait, as he wanted to talk about his meditation initiatives, but many left-wing commentators later pointed out that the sex portrayed in the video was between a married couple.

Baby put your arms around me
    Tell me I'm a problem
Know I'm not the girl you thought you knew and that you wanted
Underneath the pretty face is something complicated
I come with a side of trouble
    But I know that's why you're staying

Because, you're, no, angel, either, baby

No I'm not an anngel either but at least I'm trying
I know I drive you crazy, but would you rather that I be a machine
Who doesn't notice when you're late or when you're lying
I love you even more than you I thought you worried for

'Cause, you're, no, angel, either, baby

Tell me do you want to ride
Tell me do you want to ride
    Ride around, ride around
    Ride around
Will you ride around with that H-town
If there's candles near your bed, no need for a spell
Stop acting so scared, just do what I tell
First go through my legs, go back on your head
And whatever you want, yeah baby I'll bet it comes true

Baby put your arms around me
    Tell me I'm a problem
Know I'm not the girl you thought you knew and that you wanted
Underneath the pretty face is something complicated
I come with a side of trouble
    But I know that's why you're staying
Because, you're, no, angel, either, baby

    No Angel
  • This track finds Beyoncé telling her man - over a sexed-up, midtempo Trap beat - that she loves him even though he is not an angel; at the same time she admits to not being perfect either. The song has a similar theme to Bey's collaborations with her husband, Jay-Z: "'03 Bonnie And Clyde" and "Part II (On The Run)."
  • The song was co-written and co-produced by Chairlift's Caroline Polacheck, who is a friend of Beyonce's sister Solange. New York Electronic Pop band Chairlift are best known for their song "Bruises," which was a minor hit after featuring in an Apple iPod Nano-Chromatic commercial.
  • The song's music video is set in the 'hood of Beyoncé's hometown of Houston, which links to the lyric in the bridge about her man driving around H-town. Various Texas hip hop stars like Bun B and Paul Wall make cameo appearances.
  • Beyoncé is seen during several shots of the video in front of a tumbledown house wearing a fur coat and cowboy hat, and holding a pit bull on a leash. That scene was filmed in the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick, during the Australia section of her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.

Apparently the owner of the house, Jeanette Meadows, didn't have a clue who Beyoncé was and let filming crews have access to her home for a mere $300. "When the man knocked on my door to ask if they could use my house to do the photos I thought he said they were with his fiancé, not Beyoncé," she told the Herald Sun. "I didn't even know who she was."

    Ghost / Haunted Lyrics

And I've been drifting off on knowledge
Cat-calls on cat-walks, man these women getting solemn
I could sing a song for a Solomon or Salamander
We took a flight at midnight and now my mind can't help but wander
    How come?
Spoon-fed pluralized eyes to find the beaches in the forest
When I'm looking off the edge, I preach my gut it can't help but ignore it
I'm climbing up the walls cause all the shit I hear is boring
All the shit I do is boring
    All these record labels boring
I don't trust these record labels I'm torn
All these people on the planet
Working 9 to 5, just to stay alive
The 9 to 5, just to stay alive
The 9 to 5, just to stay alive
The 9 to 5, just to stay alive
The 9 to 5, just to stay alive
The 9 to 5, just to stay alive
The 9 to 5, just to stay alive
All the people on the planet
Working 9 to 5 just to stay alive
    How come?

    What goes up, ghost around
    Goes around around around around
    What goes up, ghost around
    Ghost around around around around

    Soul not for sale
Probably won't make no money off this, oh well
    Reap what you sow
    Perfection is so

    Ghost / Haunted
  • This mood-shifting suite starts with a young Beyoncé accepting a Sammy Davis Jr. Award at a Houston talent show. We hear the future starlet thanking her parents and her beloved H-town. Beyoncé proceeds to sing about refusing to succumb to the pressures that her record label puts her under to make commercial "boring" music.
  • The stream of consciousness verse was penned by the song's producer Boots one night at 5am. He recalled: "I had met with a record label earlier in the afternoon and they had heard some of the songs I was working on for the Beyoncé album and said 'That's so interesting Beyoncé is doing weird records like this…. Once that comes out we can put stuff out like that too!'"

"I was so appalled with the fact that record labels don't view music as art anymore," Boots continued. "They view it as product. So I wrote this late one sleepless night and it turned into an entire stream of consciousness about whatever came to mind, the state of myself, the state of pop music, the overall state of the world and most of all, people blindly going about their daily life as worker drones but ultimately not doing anything to be happy."

"I showed it to Bey a few days later and she was over the moon about it, and got real fired up," Boots added. "She said it was something she had been wanting to express for so long… We worked together to perfect it for her and this is the final product."
  • The song was originally titled "Ghost Around," which Boots explained is, "a term I made up for something always being there, always being around and nobody knows it."

Both "Ghost Around" and the original version of "Haunted," "I'm On To You" were originally included on Boots' SoundCloud. The producer's online audio distribution platform contained several reference tracks for Beyoncé, but the songs were swiftly taken down once her album was dropped. (Source of above two quotes: Rap Genius )
  • "Ghost" blends seamlessly into the second half of the song, which is a spacey, eerie erotic ballad in which a woman is haunted by her lover in a spooky yet sexy way.
  • Beyoncé is a "visual album," which includes 17 full-length videos. The singer explained she wanted to return to Michael Jackson's era when the visuals told the story of the song. "I see music," said the R&B songstress. "It's more than just what I hear … I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they're all connected to the music."

The song's haunting atmosphere is coupled with a video that was filmed by director Jonas Akerlund on August 10, 2013. The creepy, part horror, part psychosexual fantasy clip finds Beyoncé wandering around a big mansion with rooms containing all kinds of freaks and weirdoes. "Part of my challenge with her is to take her to places that maybe she hasn't been," Škerlund said of the clip. "And, maybe take a step out her comfort zone."
  • The "Haunted" part of the song was used as the background track for the Fifty Shades of Grey movie trailer.
  • The music video for "Ghost" was an inspiration for the design of the 78-story Premier Tower, a skyscraper in Melbourne, Australia's central business district. Australian firm Elenberg Fraser said in a press release: "For those more on the art than science side, we will reveal that the form does pay homage to something more aesthetic - we're going to trust you've seen the music video for Beyoncé's 'Ghost.'"

    Mine Lyrics

I've been watching for the signs
Took a trip to clear my mind
    Now I'm even more lost
And you're still so fine, oh my oh my
Been having conversations about breakups and separations
I'm not feeling like myself since the baby
Are we gonna even make it? Oh
Cause if we are, we're taking this a little too far
If we are, we're taking this a little too far
Baby, if we are, we're taking this a little too far
Me being wherever I'm at, worried about wherever you are
We're taking this a little too far

Do you wanna roll with a good girl?
Do it big do it all for a good girl
One time, this is a song for the good girl
Don’t sleep when you know you got it good girl
One time, this is a song for the good girl
Wanna roll, wanna roll with a good girl
One time, this is a song for the good girl
And I still keep it hood, still treat you like I should
    Whats up

On my mind up past my bedtime, no rest at the kingdom
Alone in my place, my heart is away
All that I can think of is, we should get married
    We should get married
Let's stop holding back on this and let's get carried away

Stop making a big deal out of the little things
Cause I got big deals and I got little things
Got everything I'm asking for but you
Stop making a big deal out of the little things, let's get carried away
Come right now, you know where I stay

I just wanna say, you're Mine, you're mine
I just wanna say, you're mine, you're mine
Fuck what you heard, you're mine, you're mine
All I'm really asking for is you
    You're mine, you're mine
I just wanna say, you're mine, you're mine
Fuck what you heard, you're mine, you're mine
As long as you know who you belong to

Do you wanna roll with a good girl?
Do it big do it all for a good girl
One time, this is a song for the good girl
Don’t sleep when you know you got it good girl
One time, this is a song for the good girl
Wanna roll, wanna roll with a good girl
One time, this is a song for the good girl
And I still keep it hood, still treat you like I should
    Whats up

From 8 until late, I think ‘bout you
You’re all my nights I don’t know what to do
I can't get no rest, can't get no sleep
This whole thing got way too deep and we should

Stop making a big deal out of the little things
'Cause I got big deals and I got little things
I got everything I'm asking for but you
Stop making a big deal out of the little things, let's get carried away
Come right now, you know where I stay

I just wanna say, you're mine, you're mine
I just wanna say, you're mine, you're mine
Fuck what you heard, you're mine, you're mine
All I'm really asking for is you
    You're mine, you're mine
I just wanna say, you're mine, you're mine
Fuck what you heard, you're mine, you're mine
As long as you know who you belong to

Do you wanna roll with a good girl?
Do it big do it all for a good girl

    Whats up

All I'm really asking for is you
Long as you know who you belong to

I gotta pull up on you
You gon' make me have to pull up on you
Don’t go ghost on me I'mma go thriller on you I'mma just
I'mma let my hands do the talking when I see you baby girl
I miss feeling on you, I miss everything that's real about you
And that's everything about you that's just how I feel about you
Been about you and I’m still about you but
    We ain't finished talking
I told you you don’t need to worry about them bitches
All them fives need to listen when the ten is talking
'Cause they don’t wanna see you happier than them and girl you swear
They are your friends and there's been a problem
You the one they hate, just come with that
I know you think its funny that your ex is not a running back
But that nigga came running back
And you tell me that you’re done with that
And I believe its true, long as you know who you belong to

All I’m really asking for is you

    Mine
  • This moody track finds Beyoncé collaborating for the first time with Drake and his in-house producer, Noah "40" Shebib. The song finds the bootylicious star singing about relationship problems and fears that she is being overly possessive and taking things too far.
  • Majid Jordan, also contributed to the song's composition. The Canadian duo are a pair of Toronto producers, Majid Al Maskati and Jordan "ClassAct" Ullman, who are signed to Drake's OVO Sound label. They are best known for their contribution to Drizzy's hit single, "Hold On We're Going Home."
  • Beyoncé was released on December 13, 2013 with no advance notice, and Drake told Rolling Stone he had no idea that the album was coming anytime soon. "They were totally vague about it," he said.

Drake went on to recall how a member of Beyoncé's team flew out to play him the "Mine" video and get his approval. "I said, 'That's cool,' she closed her laptop real fast, walked off and got on the phone," Drake said. "By the time I came offstage, the album was out. Beyoncé was like, 'I'm so sorry I couldn't tell you!'"

    Heaven Lyrics

    I fought for you
The hardest, it made me the strongest
    So tell me your secrets
I just can't stand to see you leaving

But Heaven couldn't wait for you
No heaven couldn't wait for you
    Heaven couldn't wait for you
No heaven couldn't wait for you
    So go on, go home

    We laughed at the darkness
So scared that we lost it
    We stood on the ceilings
You showed me love was all you needed

    Heaven couldn't wait for you
    Heaven couldn't wait for you
    Heaven couldn't wait for you
No heaven couldn't wait for you
No heaven couldn't wait for you, no

    Heaven couldn't wait for you
No heaven couldn't wait for you, oh
    Heaven couldn't wait for you
    So go on, go home

    Heaven
  • This mournful piano ballad finds Beyoncé detailing someone taken from her too soon and letting go off her lost love. Many fans believe it refers to the miscarriage the singer suffered several years before the birth of her daughter Blue Ivy in January 2012.
  • Beyoncé produced the song with a Pop mysterion known as Boots who signed to Jay Z's record label Roc Nation around June 1, 2013. Boots revealed on his Facebook page on the day Beyoncé was released that he produced 85% of the album and contributed four original songs. This song was originally on his SoundCloud page under the title of "Heaven Couldn't Wait."
  • Beyoncé ends the song by singing the shortened version of the Lord's Prayer in Spanish. It translates as:

"Our father, which art in heaven
    Hallowed be thy name
    Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven

    Amen."
  • Here are three more songs on our database that contain The Lord's Prayer:

"The Lord's Prayer" by Sister Janet Mead
    "Millennium Prayer" by Cliff Richard
    "Controversy" by Prince.
