  • In August 2012, Hercules and Love Affair played at the Meltdown Festival at London's Southbank Centre. They were also joined onstage by singer John Grant, who publicly stated for the first time during a monologue that he was HIV Positive.
  • This track from The Feast of the Broken Heart finds Grant, singing about the issue of being HIV+. He explained to Mojo: "The lyric is an inner dialogue; why couldn't I love myself more? There are many gay men like me, who feel like society outcasts, who've had addiction problems, who feel ashamed dirty and unloveable because of it, and I want them to know they have someone on stage that's dealing with this too."
