People Loving People Lyrics

Doctor, you ain't got a pill
For whatever's making this world ill
You can't get forgiveness at the store
And peace, it's a politician's war

You won't find no resolution in the bottom of a bottle
In the stars or Aristotle, the only answer to the problem is…

People Loving People
That's the enemy of everything's that's evil
Ain't no quick fix at the end of a needle
It's just people loving people
Whoa, woah, woah, woah

Words aren't what they seem to be
Talk is cheap but lies are free
We fear what we don't understand
And we've been scared since time began

All the colors and the cultures circle 'round us on a spindle
It's a complicated riddle, the solution is so simple…

It's people loving people
That's the enemy of everything's that's evil
Ain't no quick fix at the end of a needle
It's just people loving people
Whoa, woah, woah, woah
Whoa, woah, woah, woah

You can pawn it off on kings and queens and those behind the curtain
Say what can make a difference in a world so full of hurting
But I believe the remedy starts right here with you and me

People loving people
That's the enemy of everything's that's evil
Ain't no quick fix at the end of a needle
It's just people loving people
It's just people loving people
Whoa, woah, woah, woah
Whoa, woah, woah, woah
Whoa, woah, woah, woah
It's just people loving people

    All-American Kid Lyrics

Was the captain of the team his senior year
In his eyes, on his helmet, he had no fear
Down by a six-ball on the ten
Said huddle up boys we’ve got a game to win
He snapped the ball, he looked left and right
Nobody was open so he tucked in tight
And before them boys hanging on to him
The clock ran out as he ran it in

    And the whole town cheered
    And his mama cried
    And they rushed downfield
    And they raised him high
Got his picture in the paper and the headline read
    "All-American Comeback Kid"

He was recruited by the best schools in the land
He decided he would sign with his Uncle Sam
Kissed his mama goodbye in their living room
Said, dad, don’t worry I’ll be home soon

    And the whole town cheered
    And his mama cried
    And they lined the street
    Just to say goodbye
Got his picture in the paper and the headline read
    "Come Back, All-American Kid"

Three tours of duty and a silver star
They brought him back home with his battle scars
He stopped off the plane in his combat boots
And he saluted the red, the white and blue

    And the whole town cheered
    And his mama cried
    Another hometown boy
    Made it home alive
Got his picture in the paper and the headline read
    "Welcome Back, All-American Kid"

Yeah, this song is for those who never did
    Come back all-American kids

  • Brooks calls this Craig Campbell, Brice Long and Terry McBride penned tune the "perfect Garth Brooks song." He explained: "We're lucky enough to travel around the world playing music, but the first thing I'll tell anybody [is] … 'Hey dude, I'm American.' I'm not gonna to change to fit your format. We're not going to lose the steels, we're not going to lose the fiddles. We're going to do what we do. And that's country music with muscle in it. And I gotta tell ya, 'All-American Kid' is exactly that, just Garth Brooks country music with a hell of a lot of muscle."
  • This is the first time that another artist has recorded one of Craig Campbell's tunes. "I write for myself, of course, but I've never had an outside cut," he told Country Weekly. "For the first one to be Garth, well, that's pretty amazing. He probably listens to thousands of songs."
  • The performance of this song at the 2015 ACM Awards was introduced by Taya Kyle, the widow of the late Chris Kyle of American Sniper fame. As Brooks sung the tune, a number of US servicemen and servicewomen filed in through the audience while fireworks blasted off on the video screens.
  • Craig Campbell told The Boot the story of the song. "When I wrote it, it was just an idea that I had, and I thought it was the greatest comeback story of all time," he recalled. "I heard about this guy coming back from the war, so we wrote the song, and I was going to put it on my new record through Bigger Picture, but then they closed."

"And then we heard that Garth wanted to record it. I'm not going to tell Garth 'no,'" Campbell continued. "I didn't really believe it until I got a call that they wanted me to come hear the album. The first time I heard 'All-American Kid' with Garth singing it, Garth was standing right over my shoulder while I listened. It was one of those 'This is not real. Someone wake me up' moments."

    Rodeo and Juliet Lyrics

    Rodeo and Juliet
If there’s ever been a greater love
    Thoust hasn’t found it yet
What’s to be or not to be
    Is anybody’s bet
    Rodeo and Juliet

    Into our scene at Faraona
    Riding the Queen from Arizona
The fairest in a pair of stud blue jeans
Oh Rodeo, oh where for art thou
She knows how to play the part now
The leading role in every cowboy’s dream

    Rodeo and Juliet
If there’s ever been a greater love
    Thoust hasn’t found it yet
What’s to be or not to be
    Is anybody’s bet
    Rodeo and Juliet

Yeah Shakespeare cowboys dare to find her
Pen a poem paint and rhyme her
But a rose by any name is still a rose
She’ll barrel race and chase tomorrow
Parting is such sweet, sweet sorrow
To thine own self be true is all she knows

    Rodeo and Juliet
If the world’s seen a greater love
    Thoust hasn’t found it yet
What’s to be or not to be
    Is anybody’s bet
    Rodeo and Juliet

    Rodeo and Juliet
If the world’s seen a greater love
    Thoust hasn’t found it yet
What’s to be or not to be
    Is anybody’s bet

  • This song was co-penned by Garth Brooks with Bryan Kennedy. The Louisiana native previously collaborated with the country star on his hit singles "Good Ride Cowboy," "The Beaches of Cheyenne," and "American Honky Tonk Bar Association."
  • According to Brooks, the song title says it all. "It's a cowboy's look at Shakespeare and his work," he explained. "It's a love story between a young lady and a sport she loves: rodeo."
  • The song has a definite swing influence. "I haven't heard swing in a million years," said Brooks, "and it feels so fresh on this record."
  • Rodeo contests began in the early days of the cattle industry when men gathered in cow towns at roundup time. Following the American Civil War, rodeo competitions emerged, with the first held in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1872.

In 1882 a rodeo sponsored by Buffalo Bill Cody at North Platte, Nebraska., attracted 1,000 contestants. Its success prompted Cody to open his traveling Wild West show.

The first professional rodeo, which charged admission and awarded trophies was held on July 4, 1881 in Prescott, Arizona.

Other rodeo songs on our database include:

"Amarillo By Morning" by George Strait (About a rodeo cowboy's life on the road and how he "lost a wife and a girlfriend somewhere along the way").

"I Can Still Make Cheyenne" by George Strait (About the life and sacrifice of a rodeo cowboy).

"Cowboy Attitude" by Andy Hersey (Poking fun at the cowboy attitude that some of the rodeo-ers adopt).

"Texas In 1880" by Foster & Lloyd (A rodeo song about people who are willing to sacrifice everything for a dream).

Send 'Em on Down the Road Lyrics

    He didn’t ask
    He didn’t pry
He just held the ice that covered my black eye
    And when that girl
    She broke my heart
We just threw that baseball back and forth ‘till dark
And when I started playing guitar
    And didn’t have a clue
    He wanted to protect me
But somehow my father knew, that

    You can’t cry for ‘em
    Live and die for ‘em
You can help them find their wings but you can’t fly for ‘em
‘Cause if they’re not free to fall, than they’re not free at all
And though you just can’t bare the thought of letting go
    You pick ‘em up
    You dust ‘em off
And send ‘em on down the road

    A little kiss
    On a skinned up knee
From playing soccer, riding bikes and climbing trees
    When bad dreams
    Filled their heads
I chased the monsters out from underneath their beds
I guess I always knew those days would end
But the hardest thing I’ve ever learned has been, that

    You can’t cry for ‘em
    Live and die for ‘em
You can help them find their wings but you can’t fly for ‘em
‘Cause if they’re not free to fall, than they’re not free at all
And though you just can’t bare the thought of letting go
    You pick ‘em up
    You dust ‘em off
And you send ‘em on down the road

    You can’t cry for ‘em
    Live and die for ‘em
And even though it’s gonna break your heart, you let ‘em go
    You pick ‘em up
    You dust ‘em off
    You pull them close
    And you pray to God
To send ‘em on down the road
    Down the road

Send 'Em on Down the Road Song Chart
  • Garth Brooks is the father of three daughters, all of whom have now left home, so there's a particularly personal aspect to this Marc Beeson and Allen Shamblin penned song. "There's a great lyric in 'Send 'Em on Down the Road,'" he commented. "At the very end, where it says, 'you pick 'em up, you dust 'em off, you hold 'em close, and you pray them a lot.' Anybody who's ever had children, that's what you do 24/7 … You know it was written by somebody who had just gone through this."

"It doesn't matter if it's kids going from kindergarten to first grade, high school to college, gettin' married - 'Send 'Em on Down the Road is every parent's anthem," Brooks added. "What a beautiful song."
