Air Guitar Lyrics

I never was a cool kid
No one ever really gave a damn what I did
I loved to party, but I never got invited
Alone again so, me, myself and I

Tried karaoke
But they told me I was only ok
I guess I never should have sang Beyonce or MJ
So I dropped the mic

Oh, yeah
All the people in the bar turned 'round and stared
I was on my knees and whipping round my hair
And I knew that I was winning

Close my eyes and see the crowd
But my fingers don't make any sound
My Air Guitar

I keep it with me night and day
You won't believe the way that I can play
My air guitar
Air guitar
Like this

(Bom chicka wah wah)

In my head I am a rock star
And I probably date a popstar
A popstar and a model on the side

I know I'll never make it
But tonight I'm good enough to fake it
Bend an imaginary string and break it, replace it
In the backstage of my mind

But I know my friends all think I'm living such a lie
But the lie they think I'm living gets me high
It's the gift that keeps on giving

Close my eyes and see the crowd
But my fingers don't make any sound
My air guitar

Jimmy Page and Brian May
Won't believe the way that I can play
My air guitar
Air guitar
Like this

And you think there's nothing there
It's simply made of air
You laugh but you're just scared
Try it if you dare

Air guitar
Air guitar
I take it with me everywhere
Yeah, but you don't even know it's there
My air guitar
Air guitar

Close my eyes and see the crowd
But my fingers don't make any sound
My air guitar

I keep it with me night and day
You won't believe the way that I can play
My air guitar

  • McBusted are a supergroup comprising Matt Willis and James Bourne of Busted, and Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter of McFly. This is the first single released by the band after they embarked on a huge Arena tour earlier in 2014 selling out an 35 dates and 350,000 tickets.
  • The rock anthem began with Tom Fletcher. "I was like, how has this song never been written before?'" he said.

Fletcher brought his demo to the remaining McBusted members, who immediately fell in love with it and decided to record the tune for their first single. "It's such a brilliant idea for a song," said Matt Willis. " I was furious when Tom came up with it, obviously. I love it."
  • McBusted had to make a dramatic last-minute revision to the song. The original version included a brief sample of the hit "Crazy In Love," where the group sung: "I guess I never shoulda sang Beyoncé - uh oh, uh oh, uh oh, oh, no, no." But after taking legal advice they decided to drop those lyrics and replace them with a reference to Michael Jackson.
  • McFly and Busted released separate mixes of the song. Both versions were made available on iTunes.

What Happened To Your Band Lyrics

Tonight, I feel like I just wanna let it go
And hang with a crowd that I don't even know
So I don't lose my mind
Back home, the words that I hear are so predictable
They fuck with my mind, make me miserable
    They gotta know first hand
    They wanna understand
    What Happened To Your Band?
    What are your future plans?
    I'm like your biggest fan
Where'd you go, I've been lost without you, baby
Time moves slow, I ain't seen you on the TV lately
I walk through the neighbourhood where I used to live
And the only thing that people ask me is
    What happened to your band?
    What happened to your band?
    What happened to your band?
    What are your future plans?
    I'm like your biggest fan
Where'd you go, I've been lost without you, baby
Time moves slow, I ain't seen you on the TV lately
Where'd you go (go go go)?
Time moves slow (slow slow slow)
Where'd you go, I've been lost without you, baby
Time moves slow, I ain't seen you on the TV lately
Where'd you go, I've been lost without you, baby
Time moves slow, I ain't seen you on the TV lately
    What happened to your band?

  • James Bourne wrote this following Busted's split in 2005. It finds him reflecting on his time between demise of his first band and the creation of McBusted. "It's what everyone asks you when they see you," Bourne told Digital Spy . "When I used to do my shopping, the lady at the till would be like, 'What happened to your band?' Everyone asked that question."

Harry Judd added: "That's what I love about the song. It was one of the first songs we heard and knew James had. It's quite magic because it's what Matt and James went through after Busted. I love it for that, because it's like, 'F--k it - this is what happened: Hyde Park and a tour.'"

  • This song finds the McBusted boys teaming up with Mark Hoppus. The Blink 182 bassist and vocalist also helped the band pen the track "Sensitive Guy." McFly's Tom Fletcher said: "He'd been such a huge influence on our song writing that to finally get in a room with him was so fun, if slightly surreal."
  • Guitarist Tom Fletcher and bassist Dougie Poynter originally penned this for McFly but it didn't fit in with the band's other material. "It was really dark and not as tongue-in-cheek as it is now," Fletcher explained to Digital Spy . "It was always one of those songs that would come up and me and Doug were like, 'Remember that song with this idea?' But then we'd never finish it."

"When we went into the studio with Mark Hoppus, we wondered if he'd like it," he continued. "We played it to him - that, the idea for 'Sensitive Guy,' and another two ideas - and he really liked it."

Pointer added: "He thought it would be funnier if it was wishing really s--t things upon somebody. Like their phone running out of battery. Or a small paper cut."

  • Guitarist Tom Fletcher and bassist Dougie Poynter wrote this song before playing it to Mark Hoppus. The blink-182 bassist and vocalist also helped the pair pen the track "Hate Your Guts" for the McBusted album.

Tom Fletcher recalled to Digital Spy : "That was really fun writing that song. It was one of those tracks that even though we'd finished and we'd kind of picked out the funny lyrics, all the way home we were texting each other new lines that, even though they weren't going to make the song, it was just still funny coming up with them."
