This playful track originally appeared in Haim's 2012 Daytrotter session and featuring prominently in their live setlists, where it proved to be a favorite. When the sisters came to record the tune for their debut album they tried laying it down in a variety of different ways from raw Rock 'n' Roll to Electronica. "It's like the hardest math problem ever, " Este Haim told NME. "We want to get it right – we love that song." The cut was released as a single on September 23, 2013.

The song's music video finds the Haim sisters dumping their respective partners. The clip co-stars Jorma Taccone of the Lonely Island as one of their spurned boyfriends. Taccone also had a recurring role on HBO's Girls.

Falling

The third single from American girl group Haim's debut studio album, Days Are Gone, is an R&B banger that finds vocalist Danielle Haim crooning about matters of the heart. The song was released in Britain on February 12, 2013 and peaked at #30 on the UK Singles Chart.

The video was directed by Tabitha Denholm, formerly of the band Queens of Noize, and was shot in the hills near Pasadena, California, with some scenes shot at a botanical garden. The idea was for the Haim sisters to look stranded.

Danielle Hain told VH1: "I think we wrote the song at a time when we weren't playing around LA, nothing was really happening. We kinda wrote it as a 'Stay strong' kind of cheerleading song."

Producer Ariel Rechtshaid told The Guardian that he recorded a live version of the song, which he used as a framework for his knob twiddling. "I was messing around with 'Falling' while they were on tour," he explained. "Their live version had a lot of percussion on it – almost a Talking Heads jam session. I got my hands on an original LM-1 Linn drum; it's got a really special swing and groove to it, and I recreated Danielle's drum pattern on that – it inspired one thing and another. Layers and layers came together."

At one point in the video, Alana Haim pulls a fish out of the water. She wiggles it convincingly, but this fish was already dead. Director Tabitha Denholm says that she tried shooting the scene with a live fish, but Alana couldn't hold on to it, so a lifeless substitute shaken for effect was used instead.

Days Are Gone

The Haim sisters wrote this song with British pop soul songstress Jessie Ware and her frequent songwriting partner, Nu-Folk artist Kid Harpoon. The American trio met Ware through a mutual friend while they were on tour in London and despite her tight schedule, managed to pen this tune during a five-hour lunch. Haim didn't set out to write a song that would end up on Days On Gone since as Alana of the trio explained to Radio.com , "It was mostly like, 'Let's write a song so you don't get in trouble,'" but they soon realized it was too good to pass up.

Danielle Haim told MTV News why they named their debut album after this song. The sisters had intended to go the eponymous route but changed their minds after realizing "Days Are Gone" was the perfect metaphor for their many missed album deadlines. "A lot of people actually wanted us to hand in the record a lot earlier than we did because the Forever EP, came out over a year ago," she said. "But it wasn't right."

Haim wrote the chorus with Jessie Ware in an hour. Este Haim told NME: "The entire first line was written after a dinner we had at 11 at night in the studio. The first thing I sang when I got on the mic stuck."
Alana added: "The spirit of Mariah Carey just flew into Este's body."

This experimental Hip-Hop belter finds the Haim girls exacting revenge on the men who've done them wrong. "It's the one track that really pushed us out of our comfort zone" Alana Haim told NME. When I'm pissed off and wanna come back to life I always listen to 'You Got Lucky' by Tom Petty. I wanted this song to be like 'You Got Lucky."'

Alana explained the song's title to NME: "When you open up GarageBand it says 'My Song 1,' and that was 'My Song 5.'"

A reworked version of the song featuring rapper A$AP Ferg was released to celebrate the seventh anniversary of Haim's first live show.

The song's music video was directed by Dugan O'Neal (Chromeo and TV on the Radio). The clip features a fake Jerry Springer-type talk show called The Dallas Murphy Show hosted by Saturday Night Live comic Vanessa Bayer. Each of the Haim sisters play a different role in the clip - bassist Este reveals she has a thing for mimes, Alana is a production assistant andt Danielle appears right at the end of the clip. A$AP Ferg, meanwhile finds out his girl is cheating on him with another girl. "Haim came to me with an idea I had been thinking about and trying to make for a few years," said O'Neal. "In other words, magic."

Look out for cameos from Big Sean, Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig, Days Are Gone producer Ariel Rechtshaid, and Haim's own parents in the audience as well as Grimes in the green room with Danielle. Also check out friend of the band Kesha, who reveals that she's in love with her cat, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Artemis Pebdani, who fears those cotton balls.
