Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo wrote this song with Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino in 2010. She also duets with him on the track. "He's such an awesome guy and he definitely made me feel confident and comfortable in the studio," Cuomo told Flavorwire . "It was one of those experiences where I couldn't believe I was actually sitting in the same room, writing a song with the dude who wrote 'Buddy Holly.'"

Best Coast opened two L.A. Shows during Weezer's late 2010 Memories tour.

The song was included on Weezer's 2014 Everything Will Be Alright album. "Well - I co-wrote and am featured on a song on the new Weezer album," Cosentino wrote on Instagram when the tracklisting was announced. "So basically, all my teenage dreams have officially come true."

The video finds Rivers Cuomo attempting to woo Bethany Cosentino via a "Winder" dating app. He tries various looks, including bleach blond surfer dude, record store geek and corporate suit, but his e-love swipes left every time. However, the Weezer frontman eventually find a way to ensure that he meets his online love interest.

Foolish Father Song Chart

This song finds Rivers Cuomo asking someone to forgive the poor parenting skills of their dad. He told NME the lyrics, "could be me singing about my father or me singing about my daughter."

Rivers' father, Frank Cuomo, walked out on his family in the mid-'70s, when the Weezer frontman was about four. Rivers saw Frank infrequently after that and he sung about his absent dad on Weezer's 1994 hit "Say It Ain't So." They renewed their relationship around the time "Say It Ain't So" was released and Frank has become a big presence in his son's life in recent years. "Now I see him all the time," Rivers told Rolling Stone. "Now that I'm a father, I've forgiven my parents."

This song finds Rivers Cuomo breaking free of a co-dependent romance with a girl, whom he likens to the legendary Ancient Egyptian pharaoh Cleopatra. He goes on to wish his ex the best, predicting great things for her.

This shifts from the standard 4/4 beat to 5/4 in the chorus. Asked during a Reddit AMA about the reason for the unusual time signature, Cuomo replied: "It just came to me, that's how the melody popped into my head. And I wasn't counting beats."

The name Cleopatra is derived from the Greek name Kleopatra, which means "glory of the father" in the feminine form.

Cleopatra was summoned by Mark Antony to explain her refusal to aid the leader of the Caesarion faction in the civil war he was occupied in, She sailed to him dressed as Venus in her river barge where she worked her charms on the Roman general. Instead of punishing her, Antony fell in love with the Siren of the Nile. On December 25, 40 BC, Cleopatra gave birth to twins fathered by Antony, Alexander Helios and Cleopatra Selene.

On one occasion Cleopatra gave a lavish banquet for Antony at Alexandra. The Roman general expressed his surprise at the outlay involved. Cleopatra, to impress him further, took a pearl earring and dissolved it in vinegar to prove she could consume a fortune in a single meal.
