Burn MF Lyrics

My heart is frozen
My soul's been broken
The whole world's on my motherfucking shoulders
And I can't seem to control it

I can't contain it
And I just don't give a shit
You need to feel the way that I feel
Or you'll never fucking know it

Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
You tried but you can't reach me
Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
There's nothing you can teach me
In hell mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
I swear you're out to get me
Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
I'd live but you won't let me
Burn!

You're life's been wasted
You'll die forsaken
You act like the world's on your shoulders
But it's not there so you fake it

Do you embrace it?
How do you take it?
I'll never feel the way that you feel
I'd rather fucking break it

Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
You try but you can't reach me
Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
There's nothing you can teach me

In hell mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
I swear you're out to get me
Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
I'd live but you won't let me

Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
Burn mother fucker

Burn

Burn

Burn!

Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
Burn mother fucker,
Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
You try but you can't reach me
Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
There's nothing you can teach me
In hell mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
I swear you're out to get me
Burn mother fucker, burn mother fucker, burn
I'd live but you won't let me
Burn! Burn!

Burn MF
  • This fast-paced, hard-driving track finds FFDP frontman Ivan Moody unleashing his fury. The vocalist recalled: "When I started writing the lyrics I was so fed up. We were about halfway through the album and we had whole bunches of stuff still to do and the stress level just got me and this was just one of those lashings where you rip open your chest and let the monster come out."
  • A video was posted to YouTube showing nine-year-old Olivia Douglas being encouraged to swear whilst Ivan Moody performs the song on stage. A number of sources were quoted as being disgusted by the clip, which shows Moody hugging the little girl while trying to make her chant "Burn motherf---er burn." Olivia appears to be uncomfortable and does not join in, looking towards her father for reassurance.

    Anywhere But Here Lyrics

Some say a storm is coming,
Some say the end is near,
Some think it’s all so hazy,
I think it's all so clear.

    If it all ends tomorrow,
    If it all disappears,
Where do you think you're going?
    Anywhere else but here!

I don't claim to have the reasons!
All I know is, if the world stops spinning tomorrow,
    I'd never shed a tear!
    I'd rather be anywhere, anywhere,
    Anywhere But Here!

Some say they have the answers,
Some say they know the truth,
    Some people live in question,
    Some people have no clue.

    If there was no tomorrow,
    If there was just today,
    Would you make different choices?
Or would you stay the same?

I don't claim to have the reasons!
All I know is, if the world stops spinning tomorrow,
    I'd never shed a tear!
    I'd rather be anywhere, anywhere,
    Anywhere but here!

    If there was no tomorrow,
    If there was no tomorrow,
    If there was no tomorrow,
    Would you stay, the same?!

    If there's no tomorrow,
    If there's no tomorrow,
    If there's no tomorrow,
    Would you stay, the same?!

If the world stops spinning tomorrow,
    I'd never shed a tear!
    I'd rather be anywhere, anywhere,
    Anywhere but here!

If the world stops spinning tomorrow,

    Anywhere But Here
  • There are two versions of this song on The Wrong Side of Heaven…, both featuring a vocal contribution by Maria Brink from In This Moment. It was guitarist Zoltan Bathory's idea to bring in a dirty but sexy feminine voice on the breakdown of the track. He told Metal Covenant : "We just needed a female voice for our low piece and we thought 'Just get Maria.' She's a friend and she can do it, but then she came to the studio and we said 'Sing these parts too.' She ended up singing more parts than what we actually wanted and it then became a duet instead of the low parts we wanted, because it was so good and we wanted to keep it."

    The Bleeding Lyrics

I remember when all the games began
    Remember every little lie
    And every last goodbye
Promises you broke, words you choked on
And I never walked away its still a mystery to me

    Well I'm so empty
I'm better off without you and you're better off without me
    Well you're so unclean
I'm better off without you and you're better off without me

    The lying
    The Bleeding
The screaming, was tearing me apart
    The hatred
    Deceiving
    The bleeding
    It's over

Paint the mirrors black (to forget you)
I still picture your face and the way you used to taste
Roses in a glass dead and wilted
To you this all was nothing,
    Everything to you is nothing

    Well you're so filthy
I'm better off without you and you're better off without me
    Well I'm so ugly
You're better off without me and I'm better off without

    The lying
    The bleeding
The screaming, was tearing me apart
    The hatred
    The beatings
    Disaster
    It's over

As wicked as you are, you're beautiful to me
You're the darkest burning star, your my perfect disease

    The lying
    The bleeding
The screaming, was tearing me apart
    The hatred
    The beatings
    It's over
    Disaster

    The lying
    The bleeding
The screaming, was tearing me apart
    The hatred
    The beatings
    It's over
    Disaster
    It's over now

    The Bleeding
  • The lead single from Five Finger Death Punch's debut album, this was originally included on the band's first EP, Pre-Emptive Strike along with an acoustic version. The track peaked at #9 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.
  • When Ivan Moody auditioned to be the vocalist for Five Finger, this was the song he was asked to sing. So chronically shy was Moody, he had to perform with his back turned to the rest of the band.
  • The Bradley Scott-directed video was shot in Los Angeles on July 7–8, 2007. The clip features scream queen actress Danielle Harris, best known for her roles in the Halloween series. Also appearing was writer/director Sxv'leithan Essex, who also turned up in Five Finger Death Punch's video for "Never Enough," and directed the visual for "The Way of the Fist."
  • This is about Five Finger Death Punch vocalist Ivan Moody's ex-fianceé and is also about his former band Motograter. Moody said in a Blistering interview: "That song is a two-part song and it comes across as a relationship piece, which it is. Half of it is about my ex-fianceé who meant everything to me, so once Motograter had fell apart and then her and I dwindled apart it just took a huge part of my life. So a lot of that song was about me losing that love and then having to say that it was over and move on. The other half was written about Motograter, because that was the closest thing I’ve ever had to a real family and it took a huge part of my soul."

One time, at a Five Finger Death Punch show in Arizona, the girl who inspired the song showed up. Moody spoke about it saying, "When we performed in Arizona the girl who I wrote 'The Bleeding' for was at the show and that was the first time I had seen her in about a year and I almost broke into tears because it all came rushing back to me. I’m not one of those artists that just likes to get up on stage and drink beer, when I sing a song I like to take myself and the fans back to the place where I was when I wrote that song."

The House Of The Rising Sun Lyrics

There is a house in Sin City
    They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know I'm one

    My mother was a tailor
She sewed my new blue jeans
My father was a gamblin' man
    Down in Sin City

Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and a trunk
And the only time he's satisfied
Is when he's on a drunk

Well, I've got one foot on the platform
    The other's on the train
I'm goin' back to Sin City
To wear that ball and chain

    Well, mother, tell your children
Never do what I have done
Spend your lives in sin and misery
In The House Of The Rising Sun

In the house of the rising sun

Well, there is a house in Sin City
    They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, knows I, I'm one

The House Of The Rising Sun
  • The roots of this classic African-American folk song date back to 18th century English ballads before emigrants took it to America. The oldest known existing recording is by Appalachian artists Clarence "Tom" Ashley and Gwen Foster, who recorded the tune in 1934..
  • The most successful version of this folk tune was recorded by The Animals in 1964, after they originally performed it while touring England with Chuck Berry. Animals lead singer Eric Burdon, recalled to us: "It was a great song for the Chuck Berry tour because it was a way of reaching the audience without copying Chuck Berry. It was a great trick and it worked."

Released as a single, it became a #1 hit for the band in the UK, the US, Canada, Finland and Sweden.
  • Five Finger Death Punch covered this for their The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 2 album, releasing it as the disc's second single. Guitarist Zoltan Bathory recalled how the band changed up the classic song to give it a hard-rock vibe, most notably, by switching the song's time signature from 6/8 to 4/4. "We had the idea to do this for a while," he explained. "The interesting thing about this song is that [it's] actually in a time signature of 6/8 which is a waltz… and rock music and waltz doesn't necessarily mix right."

He added: "So basically the challenge was: 'How do we make this song work? How do we take away that goofy vibe and how do we make it into a rock structure?'"
  • Zoltan Bathory co-directed the song's music video with Thought Pirates Films' Brian Neal. It was filmed in the Nevada desert and features a high stakes poker game with some dire results. "The song's lyrics are about gambling and drinking and we wanted to recreate those gun-swinging outlaw poker scenes familiar from classic Western movies," Bathory explained. "However, I just couldn't see us riding horses in the video so we shifted eras and went for a Mad Max-like post-apocalyptic vibe with the cars and the bikes we ride anyway."

  • The music video concerns the plight of soldiers returning home and the horrors of post-traumatic stress disorder. The clip was written by the band and directed by Nick Peterson, who also helmed Five Finger Death Punch's visual for "Coming Down." "War is not pretty," guitarist Zoltan Bathory told Artist Direct explaining how the promo fits in with the song's lyrics about conflicted morality. "That's what happens. Even though these guys are doing a job and they're doing something for the greater good. As an individual in that situation, you don't know. You signed up. You're ready to lay down your life. You're ready to uphold the rules of engagement even though your enemy doesn't. It's a very difficult thing to go through."

"Nobody really understands the politics," he continued. "A lot of information is hidden from us. We know half-truths. What if you got the wrong half of the truth? Imagine a soldier in the situation. He signed up to defend his country and all it stands for. Now, he has to go do things beyond what a civilian could even fathom. 'The Wrong Side of Heaven' was that line. That's what the song talks about. He's thinking, 'Is it right or wrong? I'm doing what I have to do. This is my duty. I'd like to believe I'm sent here for the right reason.'"
