This carefree song about new love was released as the lead single from Ledisi's seventh album, The Truth. It was performed by Ledisi for the first time on BET's annual Black Girls Rock! special on November 3, 2013.

Ledisi wrote and produced the song with Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony, the same team that was behind her debut US Top 20 R&B hit "Pieces of Me."

In the song's music video Ledisi transforms from a self-conscious introvert into a sexy, confident lady. "The video is me, mentally and physically," she told The Boombox . "I can be shy and nerdy, and I can also be what you see later in the video. But I am only that way in private, not in public."

The Truth

The title track of Ledisi's sixth album was written by the singer in New York City at 3AM. It finds Ledisi revealing all the feelings that she went through after breaking up with her man. "I'm not a male-bashing songwriter or singer," she told The Boombox . "So I try to be mindful of that. I always believe there are two sides to every story. I want to uplift [with my music], not bash."
