Hit Or Miss

In one version of the song there is brief dialogue at the beginning. The lines the person says are from the book The Outsiders, which was adapted into a movie in 1983. The lines from the book lead into a Robert Frost poem called Nothing Gold Can Stay which is the title of the album. (thanks, Billy - Mountaintop, PA)

Steve Klein (guitar) told Kerrang! magazine February 16, 2008: "It's one of the first songs that we ever wrote that was in the direction that we ended up going." Chad Gilbert (guitar) added: "I remember Cyrus (Bolooki, drums) coming to me and playing me the guitar riff. We took that riff and it became a really important song. That was the song that really won kids over. We played it so much that it got a reaction from fans everywhere we played, without it even being on the radio."

Jordan Pundik (vocals) in the same Kerrang! interview: "It's about realizing that you had something good when it's too late."

This was featured in the 2001 movie American Pie 2.

This song is the story of a boy and a girl. She lives next door and is always "dressed to kill" and really pretty, but she has a boyfriend. They secretly have crushes on each other, but in the end they find out and live happily ever after. (thanks, Julia - Buffalo, NY)

Chad Gilbert (guitar) told Kerrang! magazine February 16, 2008: "It's about having to break up a relationship!" Steve Klein (guitar) added: "It's basically saying that you know the girl is good enough to get somebody else. We all talk about our problems with each other. That's what makes our songs so emotional. Chad will come with an idea, and then I'll kind of put myself in his shoes, and I write the song from that perspective. There are songs about all of us."

The video features Gilbert's screen idol, actress Rachel Leigh Cook. He admitted to Kerrang!: "I said to my friends, 'One of these days I'm going to meet this girl.' Then 4 years later we got her in our video."

This is the title track of New Found Glory's eighth album. Resurrection was the band's first LP recorded as a four-piece following the departure of founding guitarist-lyricist Steve Klein in late 2013.

This was the first song written for the project. Frontman Chad Gilbert explained to MTV News why they titled the record after this cut: "Through resurrection, most things come back better and stronger, and you learn a lot," he said. "Even for me, as a personal thing — I remember my dad passed away, and coming out of that at the time was such a hard moment in my life. But now I can be there for so many people since I've lived it."

"With our record, it felt kind of like the perfect thing to say 'Hey, we're the same band, but we're acknowledging there was a point in our career where there was a switch,' he continued. "But now we feel better and stronger, and so far, based on the reception of the new album and this tour, I feel like our fans are really feeling that, which is cool."

This song partly takes its inspiration from the bands that graced MTV in the '90s like Green Day, Pearl Jam and Nirvana. "Those songs and those riffs and all that stuff definitely had a huge influence on me," lead guitarist Chad Gilbert told MTV News.

The song has proved to be a fan favorite when performed live. "In the chorus there's a sort of 'whoa' part that's always like a big sing-a-long when we play it live," Gilbert said. "It took on its own life."

The visual pays tribute to old-style live videos that were shown in vintage MTV shows such as 120 Minutes and Headbanger's Ball. "We just thought it would be fun to pay tribute to the old MTV style — the live videos," Gilbert said. "For me and MTV, it was always the MTV year-end countdowns. It was what I'd look forward to honestly every year just as much as Christmas. When Christmas was over, the top 100 videos of the year would lead up to the ball drop. I remember laying on the floor at my great aunt's house in Kentucky [watching] — and two years in a row Guns N' Roses won it."
