Murder on the Dancefloor Lyrics

It´s Murder on the Dancefloor
But you better not kill the groove
Dj, gonna burn this goddamn house right down
Oh, I know I know I know I know I know I know
About your kind
And so and so and so and so and so
I´ll have to play
If you think you´re getting away
I will prove you wrong
I´ll take you all the way
Boy, just come along
Hear me when I say
Hey, It´s murder on the dancefloor
But you better not kill the groove
It´s murder on the dancefloor
But you better not steal the moves
Dj, gonna burn this goddamn house right down
Oh I know I know I know I know I know I know
About your kind
And so and so and so and so and so and so
You´ll just have to pray
Don´t think you´ll get away
I will prove you wrong
I´ll lead you all astray
Stay another song
I´ll blow you all away
Hey, It´s murder on the dancefloor
But you better not kill the groove
Murder on the dancefloor
But you better not steal the moves
DJ, gonna turn this house around somehow
Murder on the dancefloor
But you better not kill the groove
Hey, hey
Murder on the dancefloor
But you better not steal the moves
Dj, gonna burn this goddamn house right down

Murder on the Dancefloor
  • This song about underhanded dance competition tactics was penned by Ellis-Bextor with the American singer-songwriter Gregg Alexander (under the pseudonym Alex Ander). Alexander, who was the mastermind behind the New Radicals ("You Get What You Give") won a Grammy for co-writing "The Game of Love" for Santana in 2003.
  • The song became Ellis-Bextor's greatest hit internationally. It was the most-played song of 2002 in all of Europe and also went platinum in Australia, where it peaked at #3, staying in the Top Fifty for twenty weeks.
  • The music video takes place at a dance contest, which contestant Ellis-Bextor is desperate to win. Canadian-born actor Colin Stinton, who played Neal Daniels in The Bourne Ultimatum, features as the main judge. Sophie Muller, who helmed the singer's previous video for "Take Me Home," directed the clip.
  • This was used in the Eastenders episode where the Queen Vic burned down. Just before the fire started Ellis-Bextor could be heard singing "Gonna burn this goddamn house right down." She commented on her website: "I used to watch lots of Eastenders and I remember when I heard my first band Theaudience, being played in the show - it was a bit of an 'I've made it' moment!"

    Love Is a Camera Lyrics

A winter morning black as any night
A landscape held in time under the ice
There's a house on the hill
    She's living there still
Rooms are full of pictures black and white

So the story goes, she lives alone
The company is framed in monochrome
    She keeps them alive
    Long after they've died
No one ever knows until they're gone

    Stand still evermore
    Pose for eternity with me
    Your soul on my wall
Love Is a Camera full of memories

I once went to her door when I was young
The spell to be her subject was too strong
    Now from here behind glass
    I see more fools pass
Flies caught in the secret web she's spun

    Stand still evermore
    Pose for eternity with me
    Your soul on my wall
Love is a camera full of memories

    Every photograph is a cenotaph
Won't you stay here a while
In a flash you'll see, you belong to me
All I need is a smile

    Stand still evermore
    Pose for eternity with me
    Your soul on my wall
Love is a camera full of memories

    Stand still evermore
    Pose for eternity with me
    Your soul on my wall
Love is a camera full of memories

Run run away, from the house on the hill
There's a witch in the house
    And she's living there still

Run run away, from the house on the hill
There's a witch in the house
    And she's living there still

    Love Is a Camera
  • Ellis-Bextor told The Sunday Telegraph that this song, "is about a woman who takes your photo and traps your soul in the picture." She added, grinning: "This is what comes of reading Russian fairy tales as a kid and doing Emily Dickinson at school."
  • Directed by Sophie Muller, the video was shot in Florence, Italy. Taking a cue from the song lyrics, Ellis-Bextor plays a wicked seductress who traps men and women in photographs and keeps them on her wall for all eternity.

    Young Blood Lyrics

    The days
Are ghosts that pass right through us
    In my eyes
    You’re like an evergreen
    Untouched
By the hours that fly around us
    My love
Is that how you see me?

    Remember when
Remember when we were the diamonds in the coal
    Lovers know
There’s no age upon your soul

It’s all okay, you give me Young Blood
It’s coursing through my veins, it’s real love
Here inside my heart it’s crystallised
Like it’s framed in time and never tainted

Yeah, it’s alright, you give me young blood
Before the world I may be old enough
There’ll be a day to take the best of us
But till then we have young blood

    Somehow
    I never saw it coming
    I’m caught
And it has set me free

    Remember when
Remember when we used to talk of growing old
    Lovers know
There’s no age upon your soul

Yeah, it’s okay, you give me young blood
It’s coursing through my veins, it’s real love
Here inside my heart it’s crystallised
Like it’s framed in time and never tainted

Yeah, it’s alright, you give me young blood
Before the world I may be old enough
There’ll be a day to take the best of us
But till then we have young blood

    Oh

On and on you give me young blood
It’s coursing through my veins, it’s real love
And here inside my heart it’s crystallised
Just like it’s framed in time and never tainted

Yeah, it’s alright, you give me young blood
Before the world I may be old enough
There’ll be a day to take the best of us

But till then we have young blood

    Young Blood
  • The first single from Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Wanderlust album was released as a free gift for fans in April 2013, before being officially released on November 21, 2013. The song is a life-affirming testament to true love, accompanied by singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt's piano.
  • Wanderlust was recorded in a London studio over a fortnight with a group of musicians and friends.
"The album is about roaming and your sense of where you come from, and how you take home with you but you also have this desire to get out there and see the world," said Ellis-Bextor. "I found making this album really empowering. I felt like after ten years of making records, this is like the biggest present to myself."
  • The album was co-written, produced and arranged by Ed Harcourt. "He's a family friend," Ellis-Bextor told The Sunday Telegraph. "I've known him for quite a while. And quite early on, we were going for this Eastern sound, quite theatrical, even folky in places. No suggestion, from Bulgarian choirs on up, was too bonkers to be considered."
  • Noted music video director Sophie Muller (Annie Lennox, No Doubt, Beyonce) shot the clip of Ellis-Bextor singing on a pier.

    Runaway Daydreamer Lyrics

I could tie up the bed sheets and slide down the house
Be gone before the morning comes
I could dye my hair, I could change my name
Leave it all behind, be free to run

When I close my eyes I'm on the other side
I'm like a hurricane along the track
I see the landscape's wild from here inside my mind
Beyond the walls which always hold me back

    It's just my imagination
    Running away
Girls gotta have a little daydream
    It's a secret escape

    It's just my imagination
    Running away
    Don't worry baby
    I'm here to stay

The noise of the city and the neon sky
It will fade with the falling down
And the quiet gets too close to me
So won't you come and bring me around?

Little slice of paradise in the back of my eyes
I don't need it to be true
‘Cause we all seek shelter from the darker days
And I know you go there too

Pinch me to wake me, Runaway Daydreamer

    It's just my imagination
    Running away
Girls gotta have a little daydream
    It's a secret escape

    It's just my imagination
    Running away
    Don't worry baby
    I'm here to stay

    Runaway, runaway
    Runaway, runaway
    Runaway, runaway

    It's just my imagination
    Running away
Girls gotta have a little daydream
    It's a secret escape

    It's just my imagination
    Running away
    Don't worry baby
    I'm here to stay

    Runaway Daydreamer
  • The second single from Wanderlust is a fleeting fantasy of running away from everyday life and seeing what else the world holds. It was released on March 31, 2014.
  • The upbeat track's string-laden chorus features violin by Gita Langley. An honors student at The Royal Academy of Music in London, Langley recorded violin on UK hit singles by The Streets' ("Dry Your Eyes") and Mutya ("Real Girl"). Gita's sisters Amy and Rosie also contributed strings on Wanderlust.
  • This is Ellis-Bextor's 10th music video directed by Sophie Muller (the first was "Take Me Home"). Like the clip for "Young Blood," the singer is clad in a striped dress and sings around a pier and in a posh living room.
