Have A Nice Day Lyrics

San Francisco Bay
Past pier thirty nine
Early p.m.
Can't remember what time
Got the waiting cab
Stopped at the red light
Address, unsure of
But it turned out just right

It started straight off
"Coming here is hell"
That's his first words
We asked what he meant
He said " where ya' from ?"
We told him our lot
"When ya' take a holiday
Is this what you want ?"

So Have A Nice Day
Have a nice day
Have a nice day
Have a nice day

Lie around all day
Have a drink to chase
"Yourself and tourists, yeah
That's what I hate"
He said "We're going wrong
We've all become the same
We dress the same ways
Only our accents change"

So have a nice day
Have a nice day
Have a nice day
Have a nice day

Swim in the ocean
That be my dish
I drive around all day
And kill processed fish
It's all money gum
No artists anymore
You're only in it now
To make more, more, more

So have a nice day
Have a nice day
Have a nice day
Have a nice day

Have a nice day
Have a nice day
Have a nice day
Have a nice day?

Have A Nice Day
  • This song has no real meaning. It was written when the band was in New York. The idea came around after Kelly Jones got out of a cab and the driver said, "That's $7.50, have a nice day."
  • This was used in the movie Dawn of the Dead, and also in the TV shows The Naked Chef and Veronica Mars. It was included on the soundtrack of the 2002 season of the show Roswell.

    Billy Davy's Daughter Lyrics

    Billy Davy's Daughter
  • This song was written about a girl who lived in a town near where The Phonics grew up. It tells the story of a girl who killed herself by jumping off a bridge into "dirty water." Years later, lead singer Kelly Jones bumped into Billy Davy. Kelly thought that he would be enraged by the song, but Davy liked it and complimented Kelly.

More Life In A Tramp's Vest Lyrics

I get camping eyes in the final hour
    Last minute shoppers picking cauliflower
The fuss they make, you'd swear they were buying a car

They always moan, moan it's not so cheap
Cheaper still, cheaper still down the street
Lose my rag and tell them take your bag and shop down there

Closing down, they're closing down another road
One way, system steals the show
Mac the knife swigs a can and sings the day away

There's more life, more life, More Life In A Tramp's Vest
There's more life, more life, more life in a tramp's vest

The flower man sits down in the street
Surrounded by stock, he bought it back last week
Bring back the ladies wearing lipstick on their teeth

Make up, we make up a crappy joke
Sit back, relax, you can have a smoke
Mac the knife swigs a can and sings the day away

There's more life, more life, more life in a tramp's vest
There's more life, more life, more life in a tramp's vest
There's more life, more life, more life in a tramp's vest
There's more life, more life, more life in a tramp's vest

I get camping eyes in the final hour
    Last minute shoppers picking cauliflower
Mac the knife swigs a can and sings the day away

There's more life, more life, more life in a tramp's vest
There's more life, more life, more life in a tramp's vest
There's more life, more life, more life in a tramp's vest
There's more life, more life, more life in a tramp's vest
