This is the first single by the British singer, songwriter and producer Example, off his fifth studio album. It was the first track Example released after leaving Ministry of Sound and signing to Epic Records, an imprint label of Sony Music Entertainment UK.

Example penned the song with the Hard Dance English producer Technikal, who has also created Electro and Psychedelic trance-tinged material. Technikal was voted second-best producer of the year at the 2006 Hard Dance Awards.

One More Day (Stay With Me)

Example wrote this song with Technikal, who co-produced the entire Live Life Living album and Alex Smith of Metrophonic with whom he'd previously collaborated on "Watch The Sun Come Up."

Example: "Pianos as club hooks have worked well for me in the past so with this track I wanted to recapture some of that sunshine in my music. For me, 'One More Day' evokes all the great moments of 90s euphoria but I've put a bit of a twist on everything as it's 2014."

"I've also added a little 8-bar rap for an injection of energy. Some fans on Twitter were begging me to rap again after my last few singles were just singing.'"

This was originally going to be titled "Stay with Me" but Example later changed it to "One More Day (Stay with Me)" to avoid confusion with the Sam Smith song of the same name.

The single release features remixes from Shadow Child, MJ Cole, and Dutch newcomer Erik Arbores as well as an extended mix.

The song's music video was shot in Brighton. "Normally my videos are all about me, but I decided it would be nice to make my fans the focus this time," Example told MTV UK. "The video follows them on the way to the gig, on the pier, in cafes, in and out of pubs, drinking on the beach, and I don't even appear in the video until they get to the gig. Documentary style videos are always centred around the artist – 'here's Aviici in a club, here's Aviici in a fast car' and I wanted to get away from that."

Example credits his wife, the Australian model and actress Erin McNaught, with changing his life. He told The Sun: "Staying at home, just me and Erin, is a perfect night for me. I wish people knew how much I don't give a s--- about the hype and fame."

"In Erin, I have found a girl who just likes me for who I am and is happy doing simple things like watching a movie at home," Example continued. "So in 'One More Day,' that line about Ibiza sums it up ('We're like a couple of freaks in Ibiza. Even if we're sat on a sofa, you just won me over'). I'm just as happy with Erin in Ibiza as I am sat on a sofa and she cried when she heard that lyric."

Example told The Daily Mirror about writing the song with Alex Smith. "At the start we were trying to wrote a song from the girl's perspective, maybe Cheryl Cole or someone, but it didn't have the same lyrics as the final version, just that piano riff.," he said. "And then as I started falling in love with the song I decided I wanted it for myself, so we changed the lyrics so it was the guys point of view, and then I made the song about when I met Erin. We had this amazing romantic night together, 'a night of passion,' but I had to leave Australia and go back to the UK, and I didn't see her for like five weeks. Then I'd see her for a couple of weeks and then not see her for a month. She was in Sydney."

"And when you hear the lyrics, it all starts to make sense," Example continued. "In the rap breakdown it goes 'Got to leave the country now. Apply VISA'. It sounds a lot like the early nineties. Those house moments that got ripped off by boybands. We had to be careful not to get into Take That territory."

Example wrote this when he was staying in Beverley Hills with Stuart Price, who is best known for his for his production work with such artists as New Order, Madonna and The Killers.

Example explained the song's meaning to The Daily Mirror: "The track is all about my mates, who work hard all year then look forward to this one huge weekend in Ibiza, or a weekend at V,2," he said. "When they let off steam at these big, hedonistic weekends, they forget the world, that's what this track is about."

"It's about being here same time next year," Example added. "It's like a ritual. I wanted to channel Chemical Brothers in that synth, and maybe a bit of Oasis as well. People can hear it in my voice, it goes a bit Gallagher. The album's about letting your hair down, it's about the summer, and parties, and the nineties. This song sums all that up."

The song features a breakbeat from James Brown's "Funky Drummer." Other songs that have borrowed from the perennial drum sample favorite include "Let Me Ride" by Dr. Dre, "Fools Gold" by The Stone Roses and "Jump" by Kris Kross.

Example told The Daily Mirror about the song: "This was produced by my bass player, Sheldrake. Andy has been playing bass for me for seven years, and he was the best man at my wedding, too. He's come a long way!"

"I wanted to make a song that everyone in a field could put their hands up to or put their arms around their mates and just... let go. It's one of those lyrics. 'Cos I'm only human' it's like, accept me for who I am. If the world was coming to an end, like a great flood was coming, you'd want to be at a festival wouldn't you? This is my favourite track on the album."

This is one of several tracks on Live Life Living inspired by Example's wife, Australian model and actress Erin McNaught. "It's obviously about me being lost before I met Erin," he told The Daily Mirror, "and now I'm in a much better place."

"When the second chorus comes in, it's purely channeling Oasis," Example added. "'Don't live your life for maybeeee, Somebody out there waiiitng now, breeak it down, build you up agaaaaain,' it feels like a 'Champagne Supernova' sentiment in that lyric, it's a good line to belt out at the top of your voice. It's a sing a long moment."

Example told The Daily Mirror the story of this song. "The key thing was wanting to start the song like a piano ballad, and I actually wrote the piano bit you can hear at the start," he said. "And then it goes into a trancey techy build up, and then there's this sudden, aggressive release. You have this gentle piano and people definitely don't get it, your first instinct is 'Is this some f--king Adele cover?' And then halfway through it goes a bit Laidback Luke and then it drops and you're like "f--k!"

Longest Goodbye

This fluety, atmospheric album closer is a tribute to Example's late pal. "It's about a friend of mine who was in a bad way, and he ended up taking his life," he explained to The Daily Mirror. "When you hear the lyrics, it starts to make sense. I was trying to understand what might be going through someone's head as they make their last walk before they take their life. He was under a lot of pressure, my friend, and he was an amazing guy. He spent his whole life making other people happy, but it got too much for him. Imagine having 15 people relying on you, your mother, your brothers and sisters, your kids. It's at the end because it is the end, really."

"The inspiration came from Massive Attack, Aphex Twin," Example added. "It's a tribute to him, and a fitting way to close the album. His family have said they really love it, which means such a lot to me."
