This song finds Skrillex teaming up with Alvin Risk, who is an Electronic music producer and DJ from Washington, D.C. Risk is signed to the OWSLA label, which Skrillex co-owns with Tim "Bitvargen" Smith, Kathryn Frazier, and Clayton Blaha.

According to Skrillex, the song "sets a perfect mood for exercising, hunting T-Rexs, swimming in volcanos, playing with catbug, playing video games, or just hanging out with your parents on a cool summer's night. If you're feeling like you need a lil umph in your rumph, bang this track and get pumped up for whatever ever it is you're trying out."

The video was directed by Alvin Risk and Skrillex, and finds the king of Dubstep traveling the world as well as hanging out with such celebrities as Jack Black, Zedd and Flava Flav.

The title of this Recess opening track demonstrates that Skrillex doesn't take his 'brostep' reputation too seriously. He told NME: "I didn't think so many people would take [the title] so literally and not get that it's totally tongue-in-cheek. It's more of a statement that I don't care – you can take it any way you want. Haters will use that [song] name and do what they want with it. But other people will get the humor. The idea was just to open the record with something super in-your-face. It's a wake-up call."

Coast Is Clear

This song is a collaboration with Chance The Rapper and was recorded at a show on a mobile phone. Skrillex told NME: "Chance The Rapper has actually been a friend of mine for years. He was staying on our couch every time he came to LA, this was before Acid Rap or any of that came out. So he was in Seattle and we were kicking it and we made 'Coast Is Clear' after his show."

Skrillex told NME that selling loads of copies of Recess isn't high on his agenda. "I guess what it comes down to is crowd size," he said. "A couple of my tracks, like the Chance the Rapper song, got like 80,000 hits in a week. By the next day, kids were already singing along. So that's the measure of my success, if everyone is singing along and having a good time, that's dope. The record sales are trivial."

Skrillex commented to NME: "It's got elegance, but it's dirty and fun too, and the bassline is grimy. One for driving along the coast to a late-night party."

Ragga Bomb

This song features vetera junglists Ragga Twins, who hail from Hackney, London. The pair, comprising, Deman Rockers and Flinty Badman, first came to prominence in the early 1990s with their Reggae Owes Me Money LP, which peaked at #26 on the UK album chart. They have since had a long term musical partnership with breaks and jungle group Aquasky and released a series of singles on various drum 'n' bass labels.

The Ragga Twins also featured on another Recess track, "All Is Fair In Love And Brostep."

Skrillex explained the song title to NME: "I didn't know what else to call it. It's all about that ragga vocal and the ragga vibe and the embedded jungle rhythm under it."

The song's music video was directed by Terence Neale, who also worked on Die Antwoord's controversial clip for "Fatty Boom Boom." It was shot on location in Johannesburg and Alexandra, South Africa.

Ease My Mind

This is based around a sample of Swedish electronic duo Niki & The Dove's 2012 ballad "DJ Ease My Mind." Skrillex told NME: "It's so anthemic; I love how emotional Niki is. There's so much dramatic passion coming from the dance scene at the moment."

Asked by NME how she and Skrillex first met, Nikki & The Dove's Malin Dahlstrom recalled: "A friend of ours played 'DJ, Ease My Mind' for Sonny and then he contacted us saying that he wanted to do a version, which ended up on his album."

"We didn't meet until recently, in LA. a pleasant meeting," she added. "Sonny is the warmest person! We used to say that 'DJ, Ease My Mind' is a song that has nine lives. It's had several different versions before the one on our album."

Dahlstrom explained to NME this song's lyrical content: "It's from a night out with friends. About experiencing the euphoric moment of dancing till you can't dance anymore, just letting everything go."
