Burrito Lyrics

I try to hide myself
Give this to someone else
My hands are stained with scum
Wish I could wash it away
You keep taking, taking away
And keep breaking, breaking, break

I can't believe in yesterday
I feel you coming in
I can't just stand by and watch you

Save yourself as you fall from grace
When you come around I won't be your sympathy

The worst is over now
You said it anyhow
My life in monochrome
Wish I could regain control
You keep taking, taking away
I keep faking, faking, fake

I can't believe in yesterday
I feel you coming in
I can't just stand by and watch you

Save yourself as you fall from grace
When you come around I won't be your sympathy

Find me, feel me, fill me, then cut me up again
Find me, feel me, fill me, then cut me up

Hate
Me

I can't believe in yesterday
I feel you coming in
I can't just stand by and watch you

Save yourself as you fall from grace
When you come around I won't be your sympathy
Save yourself as you fall from grace
When you come around I won't be your sympathy

Hate

Burrito
  • From 2002-2005, the Osbourne family had a reality show on MTV called The Osbournes, which followed the domestic adventures of Ozzy, Sharon, Kelly and Jack. Watching Ozzy in grumpy old man mode proved irresistible to viewers, as we saw him struggle with the typical challenges of running a household (or at least living in one run by his wife) while he also dealt with more unconventional problems, like his daughter dating a rock star (Bert McCracken of The Used).

Seether needed a title for this song, and inspiration struck when they were watching Ozzy attempt a more commonplace task on the show. The band's frontman Shaun Morgan told us : "Ozzy was running around mumbling about spicy burritos. And it was one of those moments where it was like, this is a legendary man, but it's a different side of him. It seemed real vulnerable and real personal. So we just picked it because it was a tongue-in-cheek homage to Ozzy Osbourne."

Seether were big fans of Ozzy, but despite playing at Ozzfest in 2002, hadn't met the man.
  • The band started writing this for the soundtrack of the 2003 movie Daredevil, but their song "Hang On" was used instead.
  • The song has nothing to do with burritos, which are not mentioned in the lyrics. It's really about dealing with a person who hurt you, and moving on from that relationship. Shaun Morgan had been dating Amy Lee of Evanescence.

  • Not as noticed as Seether's radio hits, this is a song about a guy feeling low and depressed who might have lost someone dear to him. He has trouble balancing life with the burden of knowing his emotions get the best of him.

Safe to Say I've Had Enough
  • This is one of two new tracks (the other is "Weak") recorded by Seether for their greatest hits double album, Seether: 2002-2013. The song was produced by legendary studio master Brendan O'Brien in Los Angeles earlier in 2013. Bassist Dale Stewart told Loudwire : "That was actually one of the first new songs that we did when we decided on doing the greatest hits and decided that we wanted to give the fans a little something extra. We decided to rope in Brendan O'Brien and get back into the studio with a couple of new songs and that was one of the first ideas that Shaun [Morgan] brought into the studio and it was just kind of everything we thought that it needed to be. It was kind of heavy but still had that sort of melodic thing about it. I don't know, it just worked."

"It was one of those songs that didn't require that much effort.," added Stewart. "If you have to think about it or work on a song too much then it often not a good sign. If the basis of the song is there and it is good and it works and it is just the case of polishing it up and making it as good as it can be then it is relatively an easy process. Those are often my favorite songs and I think some of the best songs."

    Broken Lyrics

I wanted you to know I love the way you laugh
I want to hold you high and steal your pain away
I keep your photograph, and I know it serves me well
I want to hold you high and steal your pain

'Cause I'm Broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you've gone away
    You've gone away,
You don't feel me here anymore

The worst is over now and we can breathe again
I want to hold you high, and steal my pain away
There's so much left to learn, and no one left to fight
I want to hold you high and steal your pain

'Cause I'm broken when I'm open
And I don't feel like I am strong enough
'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

'Cause I'm broken when I'm open
And I don't feel like I am strong enough
'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away
    You've gone away,
You don't feel me here anymore

    Broken
  • Seether lead singer Shaun Morgan wrote this song, which deals with the pain of leaving someone behind. He explained in 2004: "I wrote it two-and-a-half years ago for my daughter, she was just born and I had to come to the States (from South Africa) and I wrote the lyrics for her, it's about leaving somebody behind, you know that is really painful to do, and ultimately you're looking to the future saying 'we'll see each other again and everything will be fine.'"
  • Seether originally recorded this on their 2002 CD Disclaimer. The hit version, which was released on the soundtrack to the movie The Punisher in 2004, featured Seether frontman Shaun Morgan's girlfriend at the time, Amy Lee, who was enjoying tremendous success with her band Evanescence. In addition to adding vocals, Lee helped arrange the orchestra on the new version.

In 2013, Morgan told us how he felt about the new version: "It wasn't really my idea to do that. We had done it as a duet live a couple of times, and it was always something that I was willing to try. Originally we were open to try that and end up doing the acoustic version, but having it sort of be a milder, more mellow version of what eventually became the single. And our label, obviously, they smelled dollars. So they sent us into the studio and we did that version.

There are times when I'm quite proud of that version, but other times when I feel like I should have just stuck with my guns and kept the original version of the way I prefer it. But in 2004 we didn't have any say at our record company, so it was mostly a lot of decisions were made for us and we just went with them.

But I wrote the string parts at the end of it, and I think that's great. So it was a little different for us. I don't think I ever imagined it to be quite so soundtrack, epic-y sounding. I would have preferred for it to be what the vulnerability that we wrote it with was. But it's done now." (Here's our full interview with Shaun Morgan .)
  • This song was a big breakthrough for Seether, but it didn't represent their sound, which is much more hard rock. In an April 2009 interview with Recoil , Morgan explained: "We made the mistake of being a band that has a gold album that collaborates with a band that has a ten-times platinum album. That’s a big mistake. We should have met up with somebody more on our level and seen what would happen. I don’t know. Obviously it’s done huge things for us and it was amazing for us. I think if we collaborate again it will be with someone who is on par with us rather than someone who is a megastar and we get to hear all the crap about how we used them for fame and glory."

    Nobody Praying For Me Lyrics

I'm a whisper lost upon wind
I'm the ember that'll burn you down
I'm the water that'll drown you
    I'm a star that's just a black hole now
    I'm a terrifying danger
I'm a fruit decaying on the ground
    I'm a swallower of anger
I'm the tree that falls that makes no sound
    I make no sound

'Cause if I stand up, I break my bones
Everybody loves to see it fall unfold
    Ain't nobody giving up
    Cause nobody gives a fuck
Stand up, and break my bones
Everybody wants what they just can't hold
    There's Nobody Praying For Me

I am fungus in the forest
    I'm a lizard with a poisoned tongue
I'm the child in the manger
I'm the one who sacrificed his son
Rust is showing on my armor
I am lazing like an old man done
I'm a product of my anger
I'm the bullet in a loaded gun

Stand up, I break my bones
Everybody loves to see it fall unfold
    Ain't nobody giving up
    'Cause nobody gives a fuck
Stand up, and break my bones
Everybody wants what they just can't hold
    There's nobody praying for me

If I stand up, I break my bones
Everybody loves to see it fall unfold
    Ain't nobody giving up
    'Cause nobody gives a fuck
    Stand up, break my bones

Nobody Praying For Me Song Chart
  • Seether frontman Shaun Morgan had this song's chorus way before he came up with the verse. "I struggled with that verse," he told Artist Direct . "I thought the chorus had a good melody, and I liked what the chorus was saying at the beginning. I had about three or four different verse ideas, and I eventually settled on the one it has now."

"I had the melody and music ideas at the same time," he added. "That usually doesn't happen very often. I think I was in the shower, and I started singing it. I went upstairs to my studio and began writing it. It came out pretty quickly, and I was happy with the result. I knew it was a good chorus so I had to write a verse that would complement it. Sometimes, it works that way. It's not always that the verse comes first and is followed by a chorus. Quite often, the chorus comes first, and I have to think, 'How can I make a verse that matches that?' That was an interesting one to write. I think it would be one of my favorites on the album."
