How Beautiful You Are Lyrics

You want to know why I hate you?
Well I'll try and explain.
You remember that day in Paris
When we wandered through the rain
And promised to each other
That we'd always think the same
And dreamed that dream
To be two souls as one
And stopped just as the sun set
And waited for the night
Outside a glittering building
Of glittering glass and burning light
And in the road before us
Stood a weary greyish man
Who held a child upon his back
A small boy by the hand
The three of them were dressed in rags
And thinner than the air
And all six eyes stared fixedly on you

The father's eyes said "Beautiful!
How Beautiful You Are!"
The boy's eyes said
"How beautiful!
She shimmers like a star!"
The childs eyes uttered nothing
But a mute and utter joy
And filled my heart with shame for us
At the way we are

I turned to look at you
To read my thoughts upon your face
And gazed so deep into your eyes
So beautiful and strange
Until you spoke
And showed me understanding is a dream
"I hate these people staring
Make them go away from me!"

The fathers eyes said "Beautiful!
How beautiful you are!"
The boys eyes said
"How beautiful! She glitters like a star!"
The child's eyes uttered joy
And stilled my heart with sadness
For the way we are

And this is why I hate you
And how I understand
That no one ever knows or loves another

Or loves another

How Beautiful You Are
  • The lyrics are almost identical to a poem written by Charles Baudelaire around 1869. The Poem is called The Eyes Of The Poor. It starts with the line, "So you would like to know why I hate you today?" and goes on to explain the story just as the song does.
  • Vocalist Robert Smith reflected on the songwriting process and the influence of a book of Baudelaire poems in a 1987 interview with Promotional 12": "I read through them all and one just really struck me, because I'd actually written a song like that... about how you think that you really know someone, and you really love someone, and suddenly discover that they can react to something you find very important, and they react in a totally different way, and you can't believe that it's the same person. I had a set of words that had that sort of idea in it."

He added: "Once I'd read it I thought it's really a good idea actually having it so that you take it down to one incident. I tried doing it into a very general sense of not understanding someone, but then I thought I should actually take one particular incident and write a song - that was about the most difficult song to write because I wanted to get it just right, so that it sounded like a song rather than just a literary exercise."

    Boys Don't Cry Lyrics

    I would say I'm sorry
If I thought that it would change your mind
But I know that this time
    I have said too much
    Been too unkind

I try to laugh about it
Cover it all up with lies
I try and laugh about it
Hiding the tears in my eyes
    Because Boys Don't Cry
    Boys don't cry

I would break down at your feet
    And beg forgiveness
    Plead with you
But I know that it's too late
And now there's nothing I can do

So I try to laugh about it
Cover it all up with lies
I try to laugh about it
Hiding the tears in my eyes
    Because boys don't cry

    I would tell you
    That I loved you
If I thought that you would stay
But I know that it's no use
    That you've already
    Gone away

    Misjudged your limit
    Pushed you too far
    Took you for granted
I thought that you needed me more

Now I would do most anything
To get you back by my side
But I just keep on laughing
Hiding the tears in my eyes
    Because boys don't cry
    Boys don't cry
    Boys don't cry

    Boys Don't Cry
  • This is about maintaining the manly image and hiding your tears behind your eyes. Tough guys still sometimes don't get the girl.
  • Nathan Larson covered this in 1999, and his version was used as the title song of the film Boys Don't Cry, for which Hilary Swank won the 1999 Oscar for Best Actress. Larson is the husband of Nina Persson , the lead singer of the Swedish pop group The Cardigans.
  • "Boys Don't Cry" was The Cure's second ever single release in June 1979 and it wasn't a hit at the time. In 1986 a new version was released as a single in which the original track was remixed and the vocals re-recorded. This time it reached #22 in the UK charts.
  • Oleander recorded this for their album February Son and released their version as a single. Reel Big Fish often plays the song in concert, and Razorlight performed this at The Cure's "MTV Icon" ceremony in 2004.
  • The track also provided the title for British Children's laureate Malorie Blackman's 2011 young adult novel. The book tackles issues of masculinity and teenage fatherhood.

    Pictures Of You Lyrics

I've been looking so long at these Pictures Of You
That I almost believe that they're real
I've been living so long with my pictures of you
That I almost believe that the pictures are
    All I can feel

    Remembering
You standing quiet in the rain
As I ran to your heart to be near
And we kissed as the sky fell in
    Holding you close
How I always held close in your fear
    Remembering
You running soft through the night
You were bigger and brighter and wider than snow
    And screamed at the make-believe
    Screamed at the sky
And you finally found all your courage
    To let it all go

    Remembering
    You fallen into my arms
Crying for the death of your heart
    You were stone white
    So delicate
    Lost in the cold
You were always so lost in the dark
    Remembering
You how you used to be
    Slow drowned
    You were angels
    So much more than everything
Hold for the last time then slip away quietly
    Open my eyes
    But I never see anything

If only I'd thought of the right words
I could have held on to your heart
If only I'd thought of the right words
    I wouldn't be breaking apart
    All my pictures of you

Looking so long at these pictures of you
But I never hold on to your heart
Looking so long for the words to be true
    But always just breaking apart
    My pictures of you

There was nothing in the world
    That I ever wanted more
Than to feel you deep in my heart
There was nothing in the world
    That I ever wanted more
Than to never feel the breaking apart
    All my pictures of you

    Pictures Of You
  • In this song, lead singer Robert Smith seems haunted by pictures of the girl he lost. Like many Cure songs, it's an emotional song about love. Many of us at one time feel the way he feels in this song.
  • Many of Robert Smith's compositions are inspired by literature. "Pictures Of You" was based on an essay by Myra Poleo called The Dark Power of Ritual Pictures. Smith says that after reading it, he destroyed his old personal photos and many of his home videos in an effort to wipe away his past. He came to regret the decision a few days later.
  • The song has been featured on US teen drama One Tree Hill and the 2012 romantic drama The Vow.
  • Rolling Stone magazine placed the track 278th on their 2004 list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
  • Smith has given conflicting accounts of what events inspired the song. In other interviews he has said that the song was the result of losing pictures he carried around in his wallet, many from before he was born.
What is certain is that the song is defined by an overwhelming sense of loss. Smith explained the emotions behind the lyrics in a 1989 interview with Music Box TV: "It's about the idea you hold someone. It goes back a bit to a song like 'How Beautiful You Are.' The idea of you hold someone isn't really what that person is like. Sometimes you completely lose touch with what a person has turned into. You just want to hold onto what they were."

    The Lovecats Lyrics

    We move like cagey tigers
We couldn't get closer than this
    The way we walk
    The way we talk
    The way we stalk
    The way we kiss
    We slip through the streets
    While everyone sleeps
    Getting bigger and sleeker
    And wider and brighter
We bite and scratch and scream all night
    Let's go and throw
    All the songs we know

    Into the sea
    You and me
All these years and no one heard
    I'll show you in spring
    It's a treacherous thing
We missed you hissed The Lovecats
We missed you hissed the lovecats

    We're so wonderfully wonderfully wonderfully
    Wonderfully pretty!
Oh you know that I'd do anything for you
We should have each other to tea huh?
We should have each other with cream
Then curl up by the fire
    And sleep for awhile
    It's the grooviest thing
    It's the perfect dream

    Into the sea
    You and me
All these years and no one heard
    I'll show you in spring
    It's a treacherous thing
We missed you hissed the lovecats
We missed you hissed the lovecats

    We're so wonderfully wonderfully wonderfully
    Wonderfully pretty!
You know that I'd do anything for you
We should have each other to dinner
We should have each other with cream
Then curl up in the fire
    Get up for awhile
    It's the grooviest thing
    It's the perfect dream

    Hand in hand
Is the only way to land
And always the right way round
    Not broken in pieces
    Like hated little meeces
    How could we miss
    Someone as dumb as this?

    I love you, let's go
    Oh, solid gone
    How could we miss

    The Lovecats
  • This was initially written as a parody, and Robert Smith later distanced himself from the song. In Rock & Folk magazine, Smith said: "The Love Cats is far from being my favorite song: composed drunk, video filmed drunk, promotion made drunk. It was a joke."
  • The video was shot in a mansion which had been "borrowed" from an estate agent who believed they wanted to buy it. In the morning they returned the keys.
  • This was the first UK Top 10 hit for The Cure.
  • According to the actress Molly Ringwald, the late director John Hughes worked on a script for a movie based on this song. She recalled in an interview with Vanity Fair that once Hughes had completed The Breakfast Club, "he gave me a mix tape of what the soundtrack was gonna be. Which was pretty much Dave Brubeck, with the last song by Bob Dylan."
  • The song was originally called "The Love Cats" (three separate words), as evidenced by the single cover and twelve-inch label. The singles compilation Standing on a Beach/Staring at the Sea (vinyl/CD) listed the song as "The Love Cats" on the tray card and CD, but "The Lovecats" on the booklet. In 2001, when the Greatest Hits album was released, the song was listed as "The Lovecats."

    Let's Go To Bed Lyrics

    Let me take your hand
    I'm shaking like milk
    Turning
    Turning blue
All over the windows and the floors
    Fires outside in the sky
    Look as perfect as cats
    The two of us
    Together again
    But it's just the same
    A stupid game

    But I don't care if you don't
    And I don't feel if you don't
And I don't want it if you don't
    And I won't say it
If you won't say it first

    You think you're tired now
    But wait until three
    Laughing at the Christmas lights
    You remember from December
All of this then back again
    Another girl
    Another name
Stay alive but stay the same
    It's just the same
    A stupid game

    But I don't care if you don't
    And I don't feel if you don't
And I don't want it if you don't
    And I won't say it
If you won't say it first

    You can't even see now
So you ask me the way
    You wonder if it's real
    Because it couldn't be rain
    Through the right doorway
    And into the white room
It used to be the dust that would lay here
    When I came here alone

    Doo doo doo doo
    Doo doo doo doo

    Let's Go To Bed
  • Speaking to the Rock 'n' Roll Alternative Show in 1983, frontman Robert Smith said that he didn't want this sarcastic reflection on sexual imagery in pop music ever to be released. "It wasn't as dumb as I wanted it to be," he explained. "It was really me reacting against The Cure's image, the states we've gone through. So I wanted to do something that was really, really dumb and pop. The words mean nothing. Once I recorded it I thought maybe this isn't quite right. And it was taken over and taken to its logical conclusion and released... Looking back maybe it wasn't such a bad thing. But at the time I was really, really angry 'cause I didn't want it released."

The song was a moderate hit, doing especially well in Australia, where it reached #15.
  • This was both the first and last song played on WFNX. The Boston Alternative Rock radio station played the tune when they signed on in 1983, and as the final song broadcast on their last day on the air: July 20, 2012.

    Charlotte Sometimes Lyrics

    All the faces
    All the voices blur
    Change to one face
    Change to one voice
    Prepare yourself for bed
    The light seems bright
    And glares on white walls
    All the sounds of
    Charlotte Sometimes
    Into the night with
    Charlotte sometimes

Night after night she lay alone in bed
Her eyes so open to the dark
The streets all looked so strange
    They seemed so far away
    But Charlotte did not cry

    The people seemed so close
    Playing expressionless games
    The people seemed so close
    So many other names

    Sometimes I'm dreaming
Where all the other people dance
    Sometimes I'm dreaming
    Charlotte sometimes
    Sometimes I'm dreaming
    Expressionless the trance
    Sometimes I'm dreaming
    So many different names
    Sometimes I'm dreaming
The sounds all stay the same
    Sometimes I'm dreaming
She hopes to open shadowed eyes
    On a different world
    Come to me scared princess
    Charlotte sometimes

    On that bleak track
(see the sun is gone again)
The tears were pouring down her face
She was crying and crying for a girl
Who died so many years before

    Sometimes I dream
Where all the other people dance
    Sometimes I dream
    Charlotte sometimes
    Sometimes I dream
The sounds all stay the same
    Sometimes I'm dreaming
There are so many different names
    Sometimes I dream
    Sometimes I dream

    Charlotte sometimes crying for herself
Charlotte sometimes dreams a wall around herself
    But it's always with love
With so much love it looks like
    Everything else
    Of Charlotte sometimes
    So far away
    Glass sealed and pretty
    Charlotte sometimes

  • This song is based on one of Robert Smith's favorite books: a 1969 novel called Charlotte Sometimes by the British author Penelope Farmer. In the book, the title character finds herself transported 40 years back in time. Smith wrote this song using the same themes of time shifting and displacement.
  • During the filming of the video at a disused lunatic asylum in Virginia Water, Robert Smith found drawings by old inmates. Smith's fascination with the drawings led to the band's performances at benefit concerts for MENCAP (The Society For the Mentally Handicapped).
  • The American singer/songwriter Jessica Poland goes by the alias Charlotte Sometimes.

    I've waited hours for this,
    I've made myself so sick
I wish I'd stayed asleep today,
I never thought this day would end
I never thought tonight could ever be
    This Close To Me

Just try to see in the dark,
Just try to make it work,
To feel the fear before you're here
I make the shapes come much too close,
    I pull my eyes out,
    Hold my breath,
    And wait until I shake

But if I had your faith,
Then I could make it safe and clean
    If only I was sure,
That my head on the door was a dream

    I've waited hours for this,

  • The idea for the video came from a dream Robert Smith had where he was locked in a linen closet that fell off a cliff and into the ocean. (thanks, slave6 - Houston, TX)
  • Robert Smith (from Q Magazine's 1001 Best Songs Ever): "It's weird because of all the songs we've written, Close To Me doesn't spring to mind as one of our best songs. It was a slightly surreal moment on the record and it wasn't even a definite album track during the recording. It was only when I did the vocal and got really extreme on the production, making it really claustrophobic sounding, that it came to life. Up till that point it was average."

"The video had quite a big impact too. I suggested to Tim (Pope, director) doing it in a wardrobe on top of a cliff because of the uncomfortable feeling and I think that cemented it in the Cure canon."
  • In 1990, a remix of this called the "closet mix" was released as a single, going to #13 in the UK. Another version of the song, the "closer mix," was included on the album Mixed Up.

  • When this was first released many people thought The Cure had ripped off the sound of New Order's "Blue Monday." Though many fingers were pointed at The Cure, no actions were ever taken due to the fact that this was written and recorded before, but released after "Blue Monday." The likeness between the two was proven to be nothing more than coincidence.
  • There have been several versions of this track. The band re-recorded it for their 1990 remix album Mixed up, as the original master tapes had been lost. They also recorded an acoustic version for their 2001 Greatest Hits album, which included a bonus disc featuring exclusively acoustic renderings of their songs.
  • This was the first Cure song to enter the UK top 20, and it put unprecedented pressures on the band for commercial success. In a 1983 interview with the Italian magazine Rockerilla, vocalist and primary lyricist Robert Smith said: "There was so much pressure around 'The Walk' because it went in the charts and now everyone wants another single. We must resist this temptation, I'm tired of being bound to the same group of people, the same music area. People don't understand why we split up, since this would be the ideal moment to take advantage of three years of incessant touring. Everyone was saying that our next album would be the definitive one, but we decided to call it quits without reaching our initial goals."

  • Cure front man Robert Smith wrote this for his wife Mary, who he commonly refers to as "M."
  • This might explain Smith's rather evasive answer to the inspiration for the song: "about a girl..." (Curenews, 1989).

The lyrics are even more cryptic, though perhaps most revealing is the opening line "hello image," which, given what we know about the inspiration of the song, seems to equate Mary with the reflection of Smith himself.

She follows me down to the sound of the sea
Slips to the sand and stares up at me
"is this how it happens? is this how it feels?
Is this how a star falls?
Is this how a star falls?"

The night turns as I try to explain
    Irresistible attraction and orbital plane
"or maybe it's more like a moth to a flame?"
She brushes my face with her smile
"forget about stars for a while"
    As she melts

Meanwhile millions of miles away in space
The incoming comet brushes Jupiter's face
And disappears away with barely a trace

"was that it? was that the Jupiter show?
Kinda wasn't quite what I'd hoped for, you know"
Pulling away, she stands up slow
And round her the night turns
    Round her the night turns

    Yeah, that was it
    That was the Jupiter Crash
Drawn too close and gone in a flash
Just a few bruises in the region of the splash

She left to the sound of the sea
She just drifted away from me
    So much for gravity

  • This was inspired by the Shoemaker-Levy comet. When the comet was discovered in 1993, it had already brushed Jupiter and was broken into pieces that were caught in the planet's gravity. In July, 1994, the pieces of the comet crashed into Jupiter, providing some impressive images. It was a rare and spectacular event that got a lot of attention from anyone interested in astronomy.
  • In the song, the comet is used as a metaphor for an encounter with a woman. She shows up suddenly, leaves an impact, then disappears.
  • In a 1996 interview with MTV Europe, vocalist and lyricist Robert Smith discussed the meaning of the track as "About the comet crash a couple of years ago. As an analogy for a failed sexual encounter. And how you kind of build people up. Everyone expected the comet kind of hit Jupiter and Jupiter was gonna explode. Unless you have a pretty powerful telescope, you couldn't see anything at all. That sort of sense, there's a big build up and the next day, people were saying 'That was rubbish.' It wasn't rubbish, it was incredible. It wasn't what you expected. That was the analogy."

    Nothing is true

It used to be so easy, I never even tried
Yeah, it used to be so easy
But the last day of summer, never felt so cold
The last day of summer, never felt so old
    Never felt so

    All that I have
    All that I hold
    All that is wrong

All that I feel for or trust in or love
    All that is gone

It used to be so easy, I never even tried
Yeah, it used to be so easy
But the last day of summer, never felt so cold
The last day of summer, never felt so old
The last day of summer, never felt so cold
    Never felt so

There Is No If Song Chart
  • In a 2000 interview with Pulse, Robert Smith said: "I think the only really depressing song on the album is 'There Is No If,' because in that one there really is no way out - everything goes wrong and then you die. I originally didn't want that song on the album, and I was loath to even sing it, but the others in the band really wanted it on there. I normally disregard the four-to-one votes, which are as meaningless in this band as they are in any dictatorship, but everyone who heard the song really liked it."
  • Lead singer Robert Smith was the only band member to play on this. He played all the instruments.
  • Smith didn't want this included on the Bloodflowers album, but gave in when the other four members of the band persisted. (thanks, Richard - Alva, OK)
  • The Cure retired this from live performances in 2002, perhaps due to Smith's dislike of the song.
  • The "if" of the title refers to the inevitability of death. In the song, Smith's lover frequently makes the apparent statement "if you die...so do I." This is, of course, paraphrasing the romantic clichè "I couldn't live without you." Smith's interprets the sentiment negatively, by emphasizing that they will indeed live without each other, and both they and their love will inevitably die.

Why Can't I Be You? Lyrics

You're so gorgeous I'll do anything
I'll kiss you from your feet to where your head begins
You're so perfect you're so right as rain
    You make me
Make me, make me, make me hungry again

    Everything you do is irresistible
Everything you do is simply kissable
    Why Can't I Be You?

I'll run around in circles til I run out of breath
    I'll eat you all up
Or I'll just hug you to death
    You're so wonderful
    Too good to be true
You make me hungry for you

Everything you do is simply delicate
Everything you do is simply angelicate
    Why can't I be you?

You turn my head when you turn around
You turn the whole world upside down
    I'm smitten I'm bitten I'm hooked I'm cooked
    I'm stuck like glue
You make me hungry for you

Everything you do is simply dreamy
Everything you do is suite delicious
    Why can't I be you?
    Why can't I be you?
    Why can't I be you?

    You're simply elegant

  • During live performances, The Cure often used this song to play around with and incorporate different songs into the performance. These other songs have included "The Lovecats," "Fly Me To The Moon," "Young At Heart," and "Out Of Touch," among others. (thanks, Richard - Alva, OK)
  • The video clip to this song cleverly included some risqué word play, turning "Can't" into "Cu-t." When the members of the band are symbolizing the words "Why Can't I Be You" as the letters Y _ I B U, by shaping their bodies into the shape of these letters, the word "Can't," which is the only word that could not be symbolized by a letter, was instead represented by a large mouth, or "Pair of lips" turned sideways (i.e. a vagina). Thus, 'Y c-nt I B U.' The original film clip is nowadays often replaced with the film clip of the remix to this song which doesn't include this part of the clip. (thanks, Anthony - Tokyo, Japan)
  • This was the lead single from the band's first and only double album. The record was their first to enter the Billboard Top 40.
  • In a 1987 interview with Les Inrockuptibles, songwriter Robert Smith said that the title "is not to be taken generally, on the contrary it comes from a particular situation; I was in the middle of a tense discussion and these people around the table were looking at me as if I was going to make some ground breaking revelations, and I thought to myself "good God, why can't I be elsewhere? Why isn't someone else in my place?" I would've traded with anyone; I would've preferred to be that guy leaning at the bar than myself."
  • Smith has also said that the song was written as a keepsake for a 1985 visit to his Peruvian sponsored child, Aurora.

    Last Dance Lyrics

I'm so glad you came I'm so glad
You remembered to see how we're ending our last
Dance together expectant too puctual but
Prettier than ever I really believed that this time
    It's forever

But older than me now more constant more real
And the fur and the mouth and the innocence
Turned to hair and contentment that hangs in
Abasement a woman now standing where once
    There was only a girl

I'm so glad you came I'm so glad you
Remembered the walking through walls in the
Heart of December the blindness of happiness
Of falling down laughing and I really believed
    That this time was forever

But Christmas falls late now flatter and colder
And never as bright as when we used to fall all
This in an instant before I can kiss you a woman
Now standing were once there was only a girl

I'm so glad that you came I'm so glad you
Remembered to see how we're ending our last
    Dance together reluctantly cautiously but
Prettier than ever I really believed that this time
    It's forever

But Christmas falls late now flatter and colder
And never as bright as when we used to fall and
Even if we drink I don't think we would kiss in
The way that we did when the woman was only a
    Girl

  • This features a hidden lyric from another Cure track. The lyric, not included in the official lyrics, comes from the 1982 song "Cold," which originally appeared on the album Pornography. Lead singer Robert Smith whispers "your name like ice into my heart" before the last verse. (thanks, Richard - Alva, OK)
  • In a 1989 interview with Music Box TV, vocalist Robert Smith said the song was about "someone that you meet and you haven't seen for a long time. And you used to have very strong feelings for and you don't anymore, you suddenly realize... It's a horrible sensation."
  • The song was not included on original vinyl pressings of Disintergration and originally was included as a bonus track.

    Just Like Heaven Lyrics

"Show me, show me, show me how you do that trick
The one that makes me scream" she said
"The one that makes me laugh" she said
And threw her arms around my neck

"Show me how you do it
And I promise you I promise that
    I'll run away with you
    I'll run away with you"

    Spinning on that dizzy edge
I kissed her face and kissed her head
And dreamed of all the different ways I had
    To make her glow
"Why are you so far away?" she said
"Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you
That I'm in love with you"

    You
    Soft and only
    You
    Lost and lonely
    You
    Strange as angels
    Dancing in the deepest oceans
    Twisting in the water
    You're just like a dream
    You're just like a dream

    Daylight licked me into shape
I must have been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe her name
    I opened up my eyes

    And found myself alone, alone
    Alone above a raging sea
That stole the only girl I loved
And drowned her deep inside of me

    You
    Soft and lonely
    You
    Lost and lonely
    You
    Just Like Heaven

  • This song is about a dreamy day near the seashore with a loved one. Lead singer Robert Smith was brought up in the town of Crawley in Southeast England, which is about 40 miles from Beachy Head (a cliff and notorious suicide hotspot). (thanks, Wim - Brussels, Belgium)
  • According to Rolling Stone magazine, this was cut at a vineyard in the South of France, and is Robert Smith's favorite Cure song. The band's girlfriends hung out at the sessions, which influenced the music: "The girls would sit on the sofa in the back of the control room and give the songs marks out often," Smith said. "So there was a really big female input."
  • The version released as a single was remixed by Bob Clearmountain. He has worked with The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen, among others.
  • The video featured a cameo by Robert Smith's then girlfriend and soon-to-be wife, Mary. (thanks, Richard - Alva, OK)
  • The original demo of this song was titled "Shivers."
  • In the November, 2003 issue of Blender magazine, Robert Smith said: "In 1987, my wife, Mary, and I lived in a small two-bedroom flat in North London. The other room was my music room. Just about the only discipline I had in my life was self-imposed. I set myself a regimen of writing 15 days a month; otherwise I'd have just got up in mid-afternoon and watched TV until the pubs opened, then gone out drinking. I knew as soon as I'd written it that it was a good pop song. Although I didn't realize it at the time, the structure is very similar to 'Another Girl, Another Planet,' by The Only Ones, which I can still vividly remember hearing on the radio late at night in the mid-'70s. The main difference is that as the song progressed, I introduced some different chord changes, which give it that slightly melancholic feeling. The song is about hyperventilating - kissing and fainting to the floor. Mary dances with me in the video because she was the girl, so it had to be her. The idea is that one night like that is worth 1,000 hours of drudgery."
