Denny Laine sang lead on this track, it was his only lead vocal for Wings. Laine was in The Moody Blues before joining Wings.

This was far from the only time Laine took to the microphone in Wings, however. There was also the Wings at the Speed of Sound album, where all five then-members of Wings got at least one track each; Laine got "The Note You Never Wrote" and "Time to Hide."

This song would doubtless be lost to obscurity if it weren't for its far more famous A-side. "Live And Let Die" was a tremendous hit for the early Wings from being a James Bond theme, and then again for being covered by Guns N' Roses later, in between numerous other honors.

The chart record of Wings, even stateside in the US, tells just how ambitious McCartney still was beyond his Beatles days. Wings and McCartney, in all their various name-shuffling, scored a total of 37 Top-40 single hits between 1971 and 1989. That's two more charting hits than the Bee Gees! And mind you, this was after all the Beatles' fame and success. Guinness Book of World Records has McCartney as "most successful composer and recording artist of all time."

Denny Laine, in his first vocal lead for Wings, had had a meandering career both before and after Wings, easily overshadowed by the McCartneys. However, he had been with Moody Blues, Trevor Burton, and Ginger Baker's Airforce, and would go on to many solo and guest stints afterwards. Hailing from Birmingham, he gave McCartney a spice never before experienced: a Mersey-beat meeting a Brum-beat.

Scarecrow Song Chart

After winning Season 3 of The X Factor in December 2013, Floridians Alex Kinsey and Sierra Deaton were given a $1 million recording contract from Sony Music Entertainment. This was their debut single.

The song was written by Alex & Sierra with Martin Johnson (Avril Lavigne, Daughtry) and Sam Hollander (Neon Trees, Gym Class Heroes). "'Scarecrow' is a song about hope," said the musical (and romantically involved) pair. "It's about believing in a relationship so strongly that a lack of communication isn't enough for you to give up on the other person. Everyone has trouble communicating sometimes... Or all the time, and everyone deserves to be believed in. We are super proud that our first single is something we wrote, and we're super happy that it's something fun to listen to and fun to play."

Kansas guitarist Kerry Livgren wrote this after reading a book of Native American poetry. The line that caught his attention was "For All We Are Is Dust In The Wind."

This got him thinking about the true value of material things and the meaning of success. The band was doing well and making money, but Kerry realized that in the end, he would eventually die just like everyone else. No matter our possessions or accomplishments, we all end up back in the ground.

Kerry Livgren wrote this song when he was under pressure to write a follow-up to the group's hit, "Carry On Wayward Son." While playing his acoustic guitar exercises, his wife suggested that putting lyrics to the patterns would yield his hit song. "I didn't think it was a Kansas-type song," he said. "She said, Give it a try anyway. Several million records later, I guess she was right." (for more on the song, check out our Interview with Kerry Livgren .)

Kansas was almost done writing and rehearsing the Point of Know Return album when their producer, Jeff Glixman, asked if they had any more songs. Livgren reluctantly played this song for his bandmates on acoustic guitar, insisting they wouldn't like it because it was not Kansas. To his surprise, they loved the song and insisted they record it. Livgren then fought against his own song, but was overruled. "Dust In The Wind" became their biggest hit, but Livgren never did think very highly of it. "I tend to like the more bombastic things, like 'The Wall,' he told us.

This slow, acoustic song was not typical of Kansas, whose previous singles included "Carry On My Wayward Son" and "Point of Know Return." It put the band in the position of having their best-known song be one that doesn't reflect their sound.

Kerry Livgren became an evangelical Christian in 1980. He says of his songwriting in the '70s, "I was only expressing my own searching for something," adding, "If you look at my lyrics, even 'Dust in the Wind' is a song about the transitory nature of our physical lives. That falls under the umbrella heading of God."

This was the second big hit for Kansas, following "Carry On My Wayward Son." With two hits under their belt, they were able to headline arena rock shows into the late '70s. Later hits for the band include "Play the Game Tonight" (1982, #17 US) and "All I Wanted" (1986, #19 US).

In the movie Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure, Bill and Ted go back in time and share philosophy with Socrates, who is impressed when Ted, played by Keanu Reeves philosophizes "All we are is dust in the wind."

This was the first acoustic Kansas song, and perhaps the most famous acoustic rock song ever recorded. The song crossed over to a variety of formats, as rock, country, and adult contemporary radio stations all played it.

This song was featured in the comedy Old School starring Will Ferrell and Luke Wilson. Frank (played by Ferrell) sings it at Blue's funeral to commemorate the death of the 90 year old fraternity member. (thanks, Aislinn - Hamilton, Canada)

There was one more verse to this song that Livgren wrote, but never recorded.

The song has been covered and featured in thousands of artistic and commercial entities. It was used in an episode of The Simpsons, and baseball player Bernie Williams played a jazz guitar version of this on an album he released in 2003 called The Journey Within.

This was one of the first tunes that the musically and romantically involved couple Alex Kinsey and Sierra Deaton wrote together. Alex told Artist Direct : "I guess you could say that about all of the songs [Laughs]. 'Back To You' was neat. It was definitely a little bit more about reaching inside of yourself and thinking about what it takes to make someone happy. There are all of these little things about someone else that make a good relationship or friendship - or whatever it is."

An outtake from the In Through the Out Door sessions recorded in 1978, this song was remixed for Coda, an album of unreleased tracks. A different version appears on Led Zeppelin's 1993 boxed set.

This was one of three songs recorded for the In Through the Out Door album but didn't fit onto that album. The other two were "Ozone Baby" and "Wearing And Tearing."

Though this song was never released as a single, it hit the US Billboard Top Tracks chart (based on airplay alone) at #4 anyway. Just one more testament to how badly the fans would miss Led Zeppelin, knowing that this album was their swan song (barring reunions).

Led Zeppelin is one of the most famous bands in history to have never gotten a #1 hit single on the US Hot 100. They only mustered one top-10, with 1969's "Whole Lotta Love." Only five other Zeppelin songs scored in the top 40!

I Love You Song Chart

The credited writers for this song are Johan Carlsson and Mick Greenberg. However, the latter is the pen name of Harry Styles of the boyband One Direction. Harry told BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw that Mick Greenburg was a name he used to check into hotels with so he wouldn't be spotted.

It is rumored that Harry penned the song about his regret over the end of his romance with Taylor Swift. The tune includes the lyric, "I won't trouble you no more." Taylor's 2012 hit "I Knew You Were Trouble" was reportedly penned about the One Direction singer.

The song was based on a guitar lick Jimmy Page came up with during live versions of "Dazed And Confused." Bits and pieces of the instrumentals in this song came from "Dazed And Confused" and "The Crunge." Since Coda was part requiem for the late drummer John Bonham and part contractual obligation from Atlantic records, the song was thrown together from previously recorded tracks.

The late John Bonham's son, Jason Bonham, has grown up to fill in on drum duties during the occasional Zep revival.

Album cover art fans: Yes, that is the work of legendary album cover design studio Hipgnosis. Composed of artists Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell, Hipgnosis distinguished themselves as master album cover artists, earning clients with the top bands of the '70s and '80s, including Pink Floyd, UFO, Genesis, Yes, The Scorpions, and five Led Zeppelin albums. Their iconic style, usually amazing photography that told a surreal story based on the lyrics, was abandoned here in favor of a stark font in plain colors, most likely by resident graphic designer George Hardie.

This track was written by Belle & Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch before the band's 1996's debut Tigermilk. Violinist Sarah Martin told NME: "We did it a few days after Lou Reed died. The song predates the band; it's a really old one. It came together really quickly and I guess we were in that Velvety frame of mind. I really love it."

Murdoch recalled to Drowned in Sound : "I stumbled over it a jotter from 1995 or so, and the tune came back to me immediately with every little twist and turn intact."

"I didn't have to change much, I added the last verse," he continued. "I remember the feeling of writing it, and that's the important thing. I thought we (the band) could still get it in recording."

Murdoch explained the track's meaning: "The song was from back in the day, when I often imagined wayward heroines in the same predicament that I was in," he said. "I used to imagine the kind of person that if I wished I could run into, round the next corner."

"The sentiment was based on a sermon that our then minister, John Christie, preached about simply getting through a dark night, and the hope of morning," Murdoch continued. "In this case he was talking about Easter Morning. I always used to leave the church a bit giddy, wondering for the rest of the day how all that stuff should be applied to the streets and tenements of my mouldy old town."

Recorded in 1978 at a studio in Sweden owned by Abba, this was intended for the Led Zeppelin album In Through the Out Door, but it didn't make the cut. It was released on Coda, an album of unreleased tracks put out after John Bonham's death.

The entire band's instrumentals come in right at the opening with Robert Plant's vocals starting in soon after. This was Zeppelin's typical style, a straightforward "get it done" 12-bar-blues attitude without very much pretension. It shows something of their character that they were consistent in doing this on one of the last songs done by the classic lineup.

Another telling sign of Zeppelin's character: How many drummers do most bands go through? Next to the bass, the drummer is usually the most-rotated spot. Not Zeppelin! Lose the drummer, and that's it, the band calls it quits - but to be fair, growing tensions within the band could have broken them up anyway.

A bit of rock history trivia: Led Zeppelin today is remembered as practically having walked on water. One easily forgets that back when these albums were coming out, while they had a huge fan base, rock critics panned them almost unanimously. Rolling Stone raspberried every single Zep album.

This was influenced by American rockabilly music, which Robert Plant enjoyed. A hot dog is distinctly American cuisine.

Led Zeppelin had some heavy songs, but this was a fun, rollicking tune at a tough time for the band. Plant's 5-year-old son, Karac, died in 1977 and they were all worn out from constant touring and recording.

The lyrics about a girl in Texas who "Took my heart" may have been based on a real woman in Plant's life, but he called this a tribute to Texas and the state of mind of the people in Texas.

A promotional video was shot. This was the closest Led Zeppelin came to a music video.

On a particularly cold day at a turn of the 20th century New York baseball game, no one was buying concessionaire Harry Stevens' ice cream, so he begun selling sausages and rolls. He started calling out, "Red hot dachshund sausages!" and found they were very popular. Thomas "Tad" Dorgan, a sports cartoonist for The New York Journal, was in the press box and seeing this he attempted to draw a cartoon of a barking sausage steaming in its stretched out roll. He didn't know how to spell "Dachshund," so he wrote "hot dog" instead, a name which immediately caught on. Stonemilker Song Chart

This is the opening track of Vulnicura, which was originally scheduled to be dropped in March 2015, but was released on iTunes two months early following an internet leak.

Vulnicura reflects on Bjork's 2013 breakup with the artist and filmmaker Matthew Barney, with whom she had a daughter, Isadora, in 2002. The lyrics booklet that accompanies the album on iTunes creates a rough timeline of the split. This song is annotated as "9 months before."

Speaking to Pitchfork , Bjork said that the separation from Barney was "the most painful thing" she had ever experienced. "When I did this album it all just collapsed. I didn't have anything," she commented. "It was the most painful thing I ever experienced in my life. The only way I could deal with that was to start writing for strings; I decided to become a violin nerd and arrange everything for 15 strings and take a step further than what I've done before."

Bjork went on to say that the subject of the breakup was difficult to open up about, but that the album's lyrics tell the full story. "It's really hard for me to talk about it," she said. "It really is in the lyrics. I've never really done lyrics like this, because they're so teenage, so simple. I wrote them really quickly. But I also spent a long time on them to get them just right. It's so hard to talk about the subject matter; it's impossible — I'm sorry. There's so many songs about [heartbreak] that exist this in the world, because music is somehow the perfect medium to express something like this."

The song's music video is a virtual reality film shot on a 360 camera by Andrew Thomas Huang. Frequent Björk collaborator Huang won Best New Director at the 2013 UK Music Video Awards for his work on the Icelandic singer's clip for "Mutual Core."

The video was shot on a beach in Grotta, Reykjavik, where the song was written. Björk explained: "We discussed [the 360 camera's] potential for intimacy and Andrew then suggested we take it to the beach where the song was written. It immediately rang true for me as that location has a beautiful 360 panoramic view which matches the cyclical fugue like movement in the song. If the song has a shape it is sort of like a circle that just goes on forever."

"I had recorded the strings with a clip on mike on each instrument," she added. "We have made a different mix where we have fanned this in an intimate circle around the listener. So as you watch this in the virtual reality headset it will be as if you are on that beach and with the 30 players sitting in a circle tightly around you."

Björk discussed the writing of the song's lyrics during a Song Exploder podcast. "I was walking on a beach and I was walking back and forth and the lyrics came along without me really editing them," she recalled. "The strength of this album is really simplicity and the thinking out loud feeling. And I shouldn't be too clever. It would work against it. So, I kind of just went with the first words that came. [They're] probably the most obvious lyrics I've ever written."

Moving onto the song's meaning, Bjork said: "It's about someone who's trying to get emotions out of another person. The whole song is emotionally about wanting clarity, wanting simplicity, and talking to someone who wants things to be really complex and foggy and unclear. And you saying, ok, I've got clarity: want it or not? So, it's sort of celebrating simplicity and clarity."
