Don't Look Now (It Ain't You or Me) Song Chart
  • This song was written by group leader John Fogerty. It asks: Since no one in society wants to do the dirty jobs necessary for its existence, such as mine the coal or work the plow, who will?
  • John Fogerty said of this song: "There were things going on in the country that upset me, but having grown up in the 'hippie' generation, there were a lot of things about my own generation that upset me as well. The song 'Don't Look Now' was trying to address that. It wasn't that I was a fence rider, it was just that some stuff was getting out of hand." • Brad Paisley penned this female-empowerment song sung from a guy's perspective on his own. He explained to Billboard magazine that he wrote the mid-tempo ballad for his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley. "I have so much respect for her and what she does," said Paisley. "And I've watched her as she's ventured into new territory as she's been a leading voice for Alzheimer's research because of her mother's illness and she's been working on a new project that I've been helping her with."

"We've been taking some meetings in Los Angeles together," he continued. "It's the closest I've been to seeing what it feels like when a woman walks in a room with big dreams and a disadvantage being a woman. I don't mean it to sound like women are disadvantaged, but it's true that in our society we still have a ways to go, but we're better than it's ever been."

"This song is supposed to be a pep talk to her and any woman who has dreams she wants to achieve," Paisley added, "and thinks to herself 'This might not be something a woman like me can do.' Not true. Go do it! It's meant to be a total vote of confidence and love song in that sense. It's basically [saying] 'I believe in you!'"
  • Paisley also wrote the song for an imaginary character. "The fictional character I wrote it for is our daughter who does not exist," he explained. "What song would I write for my daughter? It would be this exact song."
  • The song's lyric video was premiered on the August 20, 2014 episode of Ellen DeGeneres' talk show. Paisley tweeted just before the clip's debut: "Ladies, my favorite song on this album is about my belief that the sky's the limit for you. But I don't want to be the one to present it..."

    Fortunate Son Lyrics

Some folks are born, made to wave the flag
Ooo, their red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the Chief"
Ooo, they point the cannon at you, Lord

    It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no

Some folks are born, silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, y'all
But when the taxman comes to the door
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yeah

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no millionaire's son, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no

    Yeah, yeah
Some folks inherit star spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask 'em, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer "More! More! More!", y'all

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no military son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, one
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no, no, no

  • This is an antiestablishment song of defiance and blue-collar pride, both anti-Washington and against the Vietnam War. John Fogerty and Doug Clifford both enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1966 (to avoid being drafted and shipped to Vietnam) and were discharged in 1968 after serving their military commitments. "The song speaks more to the unfairness of class than war itself," Fogerty said. "It's the old saying about rich men making war and poor men having to fight them."
  • This is one of three political songs on the Willy And The Poorboys album. The others were "It Came From the Sky" and "Don't Look Now (It Ain't You or Me)."
  • Richard Nixon was president of the US when group leader John Fogerty wrote this song. Fogerty was not a fan of Nixon and felt that people close to the president were receiving preferential treatment.
  • This song spoke out against the war in Vietnam, but was supportive of the soldiers fighting there. Like many CCR fans, most of the soldiers came from the working class, and were there because they didn't have connections who could get them out. The song is sung from the perspective of one of these men, who ends up fighting because he is not a "Senator's son."
  • Creedence performed this on The Ed Sullivan Show, probably because the show's producers didn't realize it was a protest song. The show tried hard not to offend anyone, and usually had bands perform their least controversial songs or alter the lyrics for the show (see "Let's Spend The Night Together" and "Light My Fire").
  • Fogerty recorded a bunch of vocal takes for "Down On The Corner" before singing this. As a result, his voice was strained, which he thinks is apparent on the song.
  • This is one of those songs that came together very quickly. Fogerty recalled to American Songwriter magazine in January 2013: "When I felt it was about ready to hatch, I went into my bedroom and just sat down to write. The whole thing happened in about 20 minutes. That just poured out."
  • Like Bruce Springsteen's "Born In The U.S.A.," this is often misinterpreted as a patriotic anthem, when it is the opposite.
  • Wrangler jeans used this in commercials in 2001. They used only the first two lines: "Some folks are born, made to wave the flag, Ooh, that red, white and blue," implying the patriotic misinterpretation. The next lines are: "And when the band plays "Hail to the Chief" Ooh, they're pointin' the cannon at you," but those lyrics would not sell jeans very well.
  • Fogerty does not own the publishing rights to this song. He lost them, along with all the other songs he wrote for CCR, in his contract with Fantasy Records, which the band signed when they were struggling. Fantasy's boss at the time, Saul Zaentz, controls the rights and can use the songs any way he wants, as long as it isn't performed by any member of CCR. Fogerty hates that his song is constantly misused, but has no choice. He expressed this frustration on his solo track "Vanz Kant Danz."
  • This has been covered by U2, Bruce Springsteen, Kid Rock, Dropkick Murphys, Sleater-Kinney, Corrosion Of Conformity, Minutemen, Uncle Tupelo, Bob Seger, Circle Jerks, Joe Lynn Turner, Bunny Foot Charm, Death Cab For Cutie, Undead, Raccoon, and 38 Special.
  • When interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine, John Fogerty was asked: "What inspired 'Fortunate Son'?" His response: "Julie Nixon was hanging around with David Eisenhower, and you just had the feeling that none of these people were going to be involved with the war. In 1969, the majority of the country thought morale was great among the troops, and like eighty percent of them were in favor of the war. But to some of us who were watching closely, we just knew we were headed for trouble." (thanks, Brett - Edmonton, Canada, for above 2)
  • Wyclef Jean's slow, passionate cover of this was the theme song for the 2004 political thriller The Manchurian Candidate. Another popular political film from the summer of '04 was the controversial documentary Fahrenheit 9/11, of which John Fogerty remarked: "With the Michael Moore movie, certain conservative talk show hosts call him un-American. Him and anybody else who says anything about the war... To question your country's policy, especially in a war that kills people, is definitely not un-American. It's probably the most patriotic thing you can do." (thanks, Brett - Edmonton, Canada)
  • This is one of the first protest songs that makes the point that it's the poor who are most likely to fight the wars. During the Iraq war, System Of A Down covered this topic with their song "B.Y.O.B.."
  • Former United States president George W. Bush is often considered a "Fortunate Son," as he reaped the benefits that came with growing up in a powerful political family, which may have helped him avoid combat. This is covered in a book called Fortunate Son . (thanks, Bertrand - Paris, France, for above 2)
  • On November 6, 2014, Fogerty performed this at the White House as part of the A Salute to the Troops concert that was broadcast the next day on PBS ahead of Veteran's Day. Fogerty wasn't sure how the song would be received at an event honoring military personnel, but it got a great reaction from the crowd, including many of the veterans and President Obama.

  • Paisley invites Americans to dream big again on this song, because, "I mean, after all, there's an American flag on the moon." The track was inspired by the singer's five-year-old son, Jasper. Paisley explained to Billboard magazine: "He looked up at the sky - after he heard about the moon landing - and squinted and said, 'I think I can see the flag.' My wife thought that was the cutest thing ever. What a great thing for the kid to say!"

"It stuck with me for a while and I started thinking about watching the news and all the negatives," Paisley continued. "The naysayers saying, 'We're going down the tubes,' and all of that as a country and thought to myself, 'Why can't we just be proud to be Americans?' In spite of everything that's wrong, let's be proud of what we've done so far, and maybe that's the trick to figuring out the future is looking back a little bit."

"The phrase just caught my attention," he concluded. "After all, there's an American flag on the moon. To me, that's mind-blowing to think about that that thing is sitting up there 45 years."
  • The song was leaked on August 16, 2014 when Paisley sent the tune to NASA astronaut Reid Weisman on the International Space Station, while standing at Florida's Kennedy Space Center's Launch Pad 39B.
  • Brad Paisley is accompanied on the song by Mrs. King's Class At Montessori Academy's Children's Chorus.

    Lodi Lyrics

    Just about a year ago
I set out on the road
    Seekin' my fame and fortune
Lookin' for a pot of gold
Thing got bad and things got worse
I guess you know the tune
Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again

    Rode in on the Greyhound
I'll be walkin' out if I go
    I was just passin' through
Must be seven months or more
Ran out of time and money
Looks like they took my friends
Oh Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again

    A man from the magazine
Said I was on my way
    Somewhere I lost connections
Ran out of songs to play
I came into town, a one night stand
Looks like my plans fell through
Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again

If I only had a dollar
    For every song I've sung
Every time I had to play
    While people sat there drunk
You know, I'd catch the next train
    Back to where I live
Oh Lord, stuck in a Lodi again
Oh Lord, I'm stuck in a Lodi again

  • This song is a reflection on John Fogerty's days with The Golliwogs, an early version of Creedence Clearwater Revival. They had to struggle for success, playing wherever they could with dilapidated equipment and an often indifferent audience. He did not want a return to the Bad Old Days.
  • Lodi is a city in California located in the central valley, about 30 miles south of Sacramento and 75 or 100 miles east of San Francisco/Oakland. Fogerty and his earlier band often performed in "nowhere towns" like Lodi.
  • Fogerty sometimes covered this at concerts after he became a solo artist. (thanks, Brett - Edmonton, Canada, for above 2)
  • Drummer Doug Clifford claimed the band played a show in Lodi in their early days. Said Clifford: "There were nine people in there, they were all locals, they were all drunk and all they did all night was tell us to turn it down."
  • Al Wilson recorded this. His version was issued on Soul City Records in America and on Liberty Records in the United Kingdom. It was played extensively in the few underground "Northern Soul" clubs of England during the late 1960s and early 70s, getting its first exposure at the famous Twisted Wheel Club Allnighters in Manchester, England. (thanks, Gra - Stafford, England)
  • In a radio interview, John Fogerty said when he was young his parents took him and his brother to camp at Lodi lake (called Smith lake then) and they hated camping there. So later on they wrote a song about Lodi using their old hated for the place. (thanks, George - Stockton, CA)
  • Tesla did an acoustic version of this song that was included on their 1990 live album, Five Man Acoustical Jam. Each band member got to pick a song to cover for the set, and Tesla drummer Troy Luccketta chose "Lodi" since he was born there.

    Bad Moon Rising Lyrics

I see the bad moon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
    I see earthquakes and lightnin'.
I see those bad times today.

    Don't go around tonight,
Well it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.

    I hear hurricanes a blowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
    I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.

    Well don't go around tonight,
Well it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.

Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we're in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.

    Well don't go around tonight,
Well it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.

    Don't come around tonight,
Well it's bound to take your life,

  • In Rolling Stone issue 649, John Fogerty explained that the lyrics were inspired by a movie called The Devil And Daniel Webster, in which a hurricane wipes out most of a town. This is where he got the idea for the words "I feel the hurricane blowin', I hope you're quite prepared to die." Overall, he said the song is about the "apocalypse that was going to be visited upon us."
  • This became the theme song of the demonstrators during the People's Park riots in Berkeley, California, in 1969.
  • This was used in two science-fiction movies of the 1980s: An American Werewolf In London (1981) and Twilight Zone: The Movie (1982). In the former, it plays as the main character is awaiting a full moon and wondering if he will turn into a werewolf.
  • This contains a classic misheard lyric. The line "There's a bad moon on the rise" is often heard as "There's a bathroom on the right." Not only do many people sing the wrong lyrics, but John Fogerty himself sang the "bathroom on the right" lyric once during the "Premonition" concert. It can be heard after the last verse of the song quite plainly.

Fogerty would often have fun with this trope, sometimes pointing to a nearby bathroom from the stage when he got to the famous misheard line. (thanks, Gene - Hammond, IN)
  • The music makes this sound like a happy song, but the lyrics are very bleak, describing events that indicate a coming apocalypse.
  • As a result of this song, American football player Andre Rison's nickname was "Bad Moon," as in "Bad Moon Risin'." Rison was an all-pro wide receiver, but is also famous for having his house burned down by Lisa (Left Eye) Lopes, a singer with TLC who was his girlfriend at the time.
  • This has been covered by Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen, Bo Diddley, Type O Negative, 16 Horsepower, Reels, Spitballs, Blue Aeroplanes, Lagwagon, Battlefield Band, Ducky Boys, Acoustic Shack, Ventures, Meteors, and Rasputina. (thanks, Brett - Edmonton, Canada)
  • Argentine soccer fans came up with a new version of this song after their team advanced to the World Cup finals in 2014 while the host country, Brazil, was eliminated in the semi-final. Set to the tune of this song, Argentines chanted, "Brasil, decime qué se siente tener en casa tu papa," which means "Brazil, tell me how it feels to be bossed around in your own home."

Even the team members were heard singing this taunt, but in the end Argentina did not take home the trophy, as they lost in the final to Germany, the team that beat Brazil.

    Jack Daniels & Jesus Lyrics

This dirt road communion sure won’t lead me to revival
Between the black label and the letters in red
I’ve felt what livin’ is and what it’s like to live dead

I’ve taken a ride in the devil’s Cadillac
I’ve been so high thought I wasn’t comin’ back
And just when I think I’m too far-gone
A ringing in my head’s the 23rd psalm
I’ve seen the light, I’ve seen the darkness
Only God knows where my heart is
I’ve got my strength, and Lord knows I’ve got my weakness
Oh, I’m lost somewhere between Jack Daniel’s and Jesus

It’s my fault that I ain’t called my momma in a month on Sundays
She’d smell the whiskey through that phone
I can’t stand to hear her heart break
Next week I see my brother Casey for the first time
Since it all went down and I blacked his eye the night after our daddy died

I’ve taken a ride in the devil’s Cadillac
I’ve been so high thought I wasn’t comin’ back
And just when I think I’m too far-gone
A ringing in my head’s the 23rd psalm
I’ve seen the light, I’ve seen the darkness
Only God knows where my heart is
I’ve got my strength, and Lord knows I’ve got my weakness
Oh, I’m lost somewhere between Jack Daniel’s and Jesus

I ain’t afraid to admit I’ve hit rock bottom
If you wanna see a lifetime full of sins
Just look at me, I’ve got ‘em

I’ve taken a ride in the devil’s Cadillac
I’ve been so high thought I wasn’t comin’ back
And just when I think I’m too far-gone
A ringing in my head’s the 23rd psalm
I’ve seen the light, I’ve seen the darkness

  • Rice told Radio.com this is the most honest song on Ignite the Night. "My brother's name is in the song. I didn't hold back at all on that one," he said. "When it comes to music, I want to show them exactly who I am,. It goes into depth about my family, my dad passing away, drinking too much sometimes."

"For me, alcoholism has never been a problem but there are people out there who have related to 'Jack Daniels and Jesus' who have said its changed their lives," he continued. "They said it made them throw the bottle down. If I held back on that song maybe it would have never happened and their lives would have never been changed. That's why I never choose to hold back on any of my songs."

    This Night Lyrics

    Didn't I say
    I wasn't ready for romance?
    Didn't we promise
    We would only be friends?
    And so we danced
Though it was only a slow dance,
I started breaking my promises right there and then

    Didn't I swear
    There would be no complications?
    Didn't you want
Someone who's seen it all before?
    Now that you're here
    It's not the same situation,
Suddenly I don't remember the rules anymore

    This Night is mine
    It's only you and I
Tomorrow is a long time away
    This night can last forever

    I've been around
Someone like me should know better
    Falling in love
Would be the worst thing I could do
    Didn't I say
I needed time to forget her?
    Aren't you running
From someone who's not over you?

    How many nights
Have I been lonely without you?
    I tell myself
How much I really don't care
    How many nights
Have I been thinking about you?
    Wanting to hold you
But knowing you would not be there

    But this night you're mine
    It's only you and I
I'll tell you to forget yesterday
    This night we are together

    This night is mine
    It's only you and I
Tomorrow is a long time away
    This night can last forever

    This night
    Ooh
    Ooh

Tomorrow is such a long time away
    This night can last forever

    The light is shining
    Still I'm not so surprised
    One thousand voice mails
    For one thousand lies

    Blind faith, lost trust
All along it was plain to see
    Years passed, lost touch
    Leads the path to insanity

Take another shot, show me what you got
It was never gonna last forever
Open your eyes, try and realize
Once is enough so tonight now I say

No More, from a voice that breaks the awkward silence
No more, never heard so loud before
Made the same mistakes a thousand times
Never meant to be like this so I say
    No more tonight
    And it feels all right

    Dark nights, long passed
Waking up from a pointless dream
    Brighter days, brighter times
    Hides the fatal reality

    Questions, answers
    False addiction to nothing real
    Lights fade, crushed to dust
    Desperation in tragedy

Take another shot, show me what you got
It was never gonna last forever
Open your eyes, try and realize
Once is enough so tonight now I say

No more, from a voice that breaks the awkward silence
No more, never heard so loud before
Made the same mistakes a thousand times
Never meant to be like this so I say
    No more tonight
    And it feels all right

(No more) Same old game we play together
(No more) Time will pass, we'll still remember
(No more) But tonight this game is over
(No more) Strangers in the night forever

No more, from a voice that breaks the awkward silence
No more, never heard so loud before
Made the same mistakes a thousand times
Never meant to be like this so I say
    No more tonight
    And it feels all right

    And it feels all right

  • Guitarist Herman Li explained the song's meaning to AMH Network : "The lyrics are not about a sad relationship breakup," he said. "It's more like a 'I don't really care about it, why did I care in the first place' kind of song."
  • This features guest vocals by Matt Heafy of Trivium. It was one of three Maximum Overload tracks that he contributed towards. Guitarist Herman Li explained to MetalInsider : "The way we were recording the new album, we got to the point where we needed different kind of backing vocalists in certain songs, like 'The Game,' 'Defenders,' and also 'No More.' Somehow, we just thought of Matt's name all of a sudden, and we just asked him basically."

"He was really cool, he recorded so much stuff, so many different vocals and rough, and harmonized his own voice, and black metal, thrash metal versions, it was really awesome that he was able to take the time while he was off tour to do the backing vocals spots for our songs."

    Sussudio Lyrics

There's this girl that's been on my mind
All the time, Sussudio oh oh
Now she don't even know my name
But I think she likes me just the same
    Sussudio oh oh

Oh if she called me I'd be there
    I'd come running anywhere
She's all I need, all my life
I feel so good if I just say the word
    Sussudio, just say the word
    Oh Sussudio

Now I know that I'm too young
    My love has just begun
    Sussudio oh oh
Ooh give me a chance, give me a sign
    I'll show her anytime
    Sussudio oh oh

Ah, I've just got to have her, have her now
I've got to get closer but I don't know how
She makes me nervous and makes me scared
But I feel so good if I just say the word
    Sussudio just say the word
    Oh Sussudio, oh

Ah, she's all I need all of my life
I feel so good if I just say the word
Sussudio I just say the word
Oh Sussudio I just say the word
Oh Sussudio I'll say the word
    Sussudio oh oh oh
    Just say the word

  • On a 1997 episode of VH1 Storytellers, Collins said: "This is one of those examples of improvising lyrics. You know, sometimes you can use the lyric, other times you're in big trouble, because what you write doesn't mean anything. So I set up this drum-machine pad, and I got some chords, and I started to sing into the microphone, and this word came out, which was "sus-sussudio." It just literally came out, at the time... that was back when I could dance, so I kind of knew I had to find something else for that word, then I went back and tried to find another word that scanned as well as "sussudio," and I couldn't find one, so I went back to "sussudio."

Then I thought OK, let's give it a meaning, what is it? The lyrics are based on this schoolboy crush on this girl at school. It's happening with my daughter now, she's eight years old and she loves this boy, but she won't tell him, like in the lyrics this boy loves her but they don't talk about it... how do they know? 'I know she likes me, I know she likes me, doesn't know my name, doesn't know I exist, but I know she likes me'... So that's what the song is about, so "sussudio" became a name for this person, and since it's become a name for a horse. My older daughter's got a horse called Sussudio, and I'm sure there are children all over the world with the name Sussudio, so I apologize for that."
  • As was the rest of the album, this was recorded in Collins' living room shortly after he married his second wife.
  • When this was released in 1985, critics assailed Collins for its similarity with Prince's hit "1999." Collins responded by saying that he was a "big Prince fan" and that his original version of "Sussudio" sounded even more like Prince.
  • "Sussudio" is a girl's name in the lyrics, but it is also the name Collins gave to the song's drum track.
  • This was the second US #1 hit from the No Jacket Required album. The first was "One More Night."
  • Collins recalled to The Mail on Sunday: "This is me trying to write a dance tune! It always fascinated me that the horn players would come in and play a song of mine and suddenly make it R&B. It was influenced by Prince, of course, and was the first time I worked with dance synth programmers."
  • Collins used The Phenix Horns on this track, who were famous for their work with Earth, Wind & Fire. Collins started working with them in 1981 when he put them on his solo track "I Missed Again" and also on the Genesis song "No Reply At All."
  • John Potoker, who was Collins' go-to guy for remixes, created the extended remix of this song that was released as a 12" single. Potoker says his work on "Sussudio" is some of his best, and that he was thrilled to learn that Collins was using this arrangement on his tour.
  • Like the clip for "One More Night," the music video was filmed at The Princess Victoria, a London pub owned by Virgin Records' founder Richard Branson. Collins and his band (guitarist Daryl Stuermer, drummer Chester Thompson, and bass player Lee Sklar) woo a bored crowd with a performance of the song.
  • In the video for Collins' ...But Seriously track "Hang In Long Enough," he and the band perform aboard a Titanic-like ship called the "S.S. Udio," a reference to this song.
  • This features in the movie American Psycho in a scene where Christian Bale's serial killer Patrick Bateman puts it on after doing a monologue about the brilliance of Phil Collins and Genesis. He says, "This is 'Sussudio.' Great, great song. Personal favorite."

The Genesis song "In Too Deep" is also used in and discussed in the film.

    Defenders Lyrics

    Life's uncertain, a rat-race of pain
    Endlessly searching for more
Hopeless and needless, held back the chains
    'Till we can't take anymore

    Hold on, Stay strong
Breaking out from the past life fading
    No more, what for
All we got is to keep on praying

Pray for the done for, the lives in dismay
    Witness the final decay
Suffering in silence for years we were blind
But now we git something to say

    Hold on, stay strong
'Till the end a fate of dying
    No more, what for
Nothing left but to keep on fighting

    United, incited, not misguided
We'll fight through time before our one true destiny
Benighted, ignited, still strong and undivided
This day foretold now here for all to see

So free in the blue skies with time marches on
Once more maybe we'll find our peace to behold
Strangers in a strange world, Defenders through time
Cursed in our kingdom of unholy fire

Legends of darkness will be on the grave
Spill their blood under the sun
Voices are calling with anger and rage
The final war now has begun

    Hold on, stay strong
'Till the end a fate of dying
    No more, what for
Nothing left but to keep on fighting

    United, incited, not misguided
We'll fight through time before our one true destiny
Benighted, ignited, still strong and undivided
This day foretold now here for all to see

So free in the blue skies with time marches on
Once more maybe we'll find our peace to behold
Strangers in a strange world, defenders through time
Cursed in our kingdom of unholy fire

Hear our call, save us all
    Standing tall tonight

The flame will slowly fade away
    The shadows of our lives
    Will ash away the memories
    Before the last sunrise

    We'll keep holding on
    In the sands of changes
    Standing strong against the winds
    Until the end of time

    Hold on, stay strong
'Till the end, not afraid of dying
    No more, what for
Nothing left but to keep on fighting

    United, incited, not misguided
We'll fight through time before our one true destiny
Benighted, ignited, still strong and undivided

  • This rapid-fire rocker features guest backing vocals by Matt Heafy of Trivium, who also contributed to "The Game" and "No More" on Maximum Overload. In our interview with DragonForce guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman , Li explained: "Matt had been a friend of ours for quite a few years now, and he's got a great voice and so many diverse tones. It just came about that we decided, 'Hey, why don't we just ask Matt if he'll do it?' And he did an amazing job. He did so many different voices, like death metal, black metal, pop, and thrashy metal - different backing vocals for these songs."
  • This was one of the first tracks DragonForce finished recording for Maximum Overload. Herman Li told Loudwire the story of the song: "The idea for this song was to create a contrast, by fusing some thrash metal style riffs with DragonForce's big epic choruses and high speed twin guitars solos," he said. "Our friend Matt Heafy from Trivium helped us out with some aggressive backing vocals in the pre choruses."

"In terms of lyrics, here we went for our classic fantasy approach similar to our first album," Li added.
