Freedom '90 Lyrics

I won't let you down;
I will not give you up.
Gotta have some faith in the sound;
It's the one good thing that I've got.
I won't let you down,
So please don't give me up,
Because I would really, really, love to stick around.
Heaven knows I was just a young boy,
Didn't know what I wanted to be.
I was every little hungry schoolgirl's pride and joy,
And I guess it was enough for me.
To win the race? A prettier face!
Brand new clothes and a big fat place;
On your rock and roll TV.
But, today, the way I play the game is not the same;
No way.
Think I'm gonna get myself happy.
I think there's something you should know.
I think it's time I told you so.
There's something deep inside of me.
There's someone else I've got to be.
Take back your picture in a frame.
Take back your singing in the rain.
I just hope you understand.
Sometimes the clothes do not make the man.
All we have to do, now,
Is take these lies and make them true somehow.
All we have to see
Is that I don't belong to you,
And you don't belong to me.
Freedom;
You've gotta give for what you take.
Freedom;
You've gotta give for what you take.
Heaven knows we sure had some fun, boy.
What a kick, just a buddy and me.
We had every big shot, good-time, band on the run, boy.
We were living in a fantasy.
We won the race.
Got out of the place.
I went back home, got a brand new face
For the boys on MTV,
But today the way I play the game has got to change.
Oh, yeah.
Now I'm gonna get myself happy.
I think there's something you should know.
I think it's time I stopped the show.
There's something deep inside of me.
There's someone I forgot to be.
Take back your picture in a frame.
Don't think that I'll be back again.
I just hope you understand .
Sometimes the clothes do not make the man.
All we have to do, now,
Is take these lies and make them true somehow.
All we have to see
Is that I don't belong to you,
And you don't belong to me.
Freedom;
You've gotta give for what you take.
Freedom;
You've gotta give for what you take.
Well it looks like the road to heaven,
But it feels like the road to hell.
When I knew which side my bread was buttered
I took the knife as well.
Posing for another picture.
Everybody's got to sell,
But when you shake your ass
They notice fast,
And some mistakes were built to last.
That's what you get,
I say, that's what you get.
That's what you get for changing your mind,
And after all this time
I just hope you understand,
Sometimes the clothes
Do not make the man.
I'll hold on to my freedom.
May not be what you want from me.
Just the way it's got to be.
Lose the face now.
I've got to live

Freedom '90
  • George Michael was trying to free himself from the shackles of Sony, which was his record label at the time. They created an image for him to promote his Faith album, and Michael was now trying to distance himself from it. In the video all the Faith trademarks explode: the jacket, the jukebox, the guitar. Michael was the victim of a Saturday Night Live skit mocking the video.
  • When the video first came out people were quite shocked because George Michael was barely in it (he doesn't appear in "Praying for Time," also from the album, at all). This was part of his effort to distance himself from his image and bring the focus to his music, and he did it in a very clever way for this video: He got a bunch of Supermodels to lip sync for him. Appearing in the clip were Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Tatjana Patitz. These five had recently appeared together on the cover of the UK edition of Vogue magazine, which gave Michael the idea.

The video was directed by David Fincher, who was a top music video director before moving on to feature films like Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Social Network. The "Freedom '90" clip was shot in London over a weekend.
  • In the video, there is a man shot from the waist down - he walks and he scratches his boxers. That is Michael. His scene goes with the line, "When you shake your ass they notice fast some mistakes were built to last," referring to the flack he got from his tush in "Faith," and the consequent spoof of him and his butt on SNL.
  • The song is autobiographical and chronicles Michael's Wham days with lines like: "Heaven knows we sure had some fun boy, what a kick just a buddy and me, we had every bigshot goodtime band on the run boy, we were living in a fantasy."
  • In 1996, Robbie Williams released a cover version as his first single after leaving the boy-band Take That. His version tanked, but Williams recovered and went on to a successful solo career with his 1997 album Life Thru a Lens.
  • Alicia Keys performed this as part of her set during the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. While she was performing this, Kid Rock and Tommy Lee got in a fight that was likely fueled by the presence of Pamela Anderson, who was part of the show. The incident did not appear in the broadcast, but a camera caught the end of the melee and MTV made this video available online.
  • The year was added to the song title, originally released as "Freedom," so as not to confuse it with the hit single by Wham! also titled "Freedom."

What If I Was Nothing Lyrics

Just let it go, don’t want to haunt you anymore
I can’t be sure I know just what we’re fight for
I know that you’re scared and that you’re thinking I may go
I’m not leaving, I’m not leaving

And if you’re thinking I might, might be lead astray
    Just remember this one question

What If I Was Nothing? what if this is true?
What if I was nothing? girl, nothing without you
So what if I was angry? what did you think I’d do?
I told you that I love you, girl, I’m nothing without you

I know it’s hard, it seems that we’ve worked at this so long
Soft and foolish pride that tells us we’re not wrong
I hear your voice, you tell me that you’ll never go
And I believe it, I believe it

And if you’re thinking I might, might be lead astray
    Just remember this one question

What if I was nothing? What if this is true?
What if I was nothing, girl, nothing without you
So what if I was angry, what did you think I’d do?
I told you that I love you, girl, I’m nothing without you

And we can keep this going on, we’ll make it work some way
And every step, it makes us stronger every day

And if you’re thinking I might, might be lead astray
    Just remember this one question

What if I was nothing? What if this is true?
What if I was nothing, girl, nothing without you
So what if I was angry, what did you think I’d do?
I told you that I love you, girl, I’m nothing without you

What if I was nothing? What if this is true?

    What If I Was Nothing
  • Vocalist Phil Labonte found this a difficult track to lay down. He explained to Loudwire : "When I was in the studio, me and Adam (Dutkiewicz, producer) were talking when I was doing vocals and stuff. When it comes to singing, I'm a machete, I'm not a scalpel. I'm far better at screaming or yelling in key than I am at soft, tender singing so the song was a struggle to do."

"It was cool that we actually got it done," he continued. "There were moments when I thought, 'I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it sound the way I want it to sound.' It was tough, trying to make a machete act like a scalpel."
  • Labonte admitted to The Pulse of Radio that initially not everyone in the band was on board with the song. "There was definitely conflict in the beginning," he said. "There are people that come from, you know, a school of thought that like this is what you're supposed to do and that's what you do. But you either play inside the safe zone or you really push the envelope, and pushing the envelope is a risk. That's the thing about trying new stuff - you're not gonna know when it's gonna, you know, strike a chord with people. You have no idea."

    Little Bird Lyrics

I look up to the Little Bird
    That glides across the sky
    He sings the clearest melody
It makes me want to cry
It makes me want to sit right down
    and cry cry cry, yeah.

I walk along the city streets
So dark with rage and fear
    And I
I wish that I could be that bird
    And fly away from here
I wish I had the wings to fly away from here, yeah.

But Mamma I feel so low
    Mamma where do I go?
    Mamma what do I know?
Mamma we reap what we sow
They always said that you knew best
But this little bird's fallen out of that nest now
I've got a feeling that it might have been blessed
So I've just got to put these wings to test

For I am just a troubled soul
    Who's weighted...
    Weighted to the ground
Give me the strength to carry on
Till I can lay my burden down
Give me the strength to lay this burden down
    down down yea
Give me the strength to lay it down
Lay it down, Lay it down.

But Mamma I feel so low
    Mamma where do I go?
    Mamma what do I know?
Mamma we reap what we sow.
They always said that you knew best
But this little bird's fallen out of that nest now

  • Demi Moore danced to this in the movie Striptease.
  • Annie Lennox recalled the song's promo in a blog promoting The Annie Lennox Collection: "When I was about to make the video with Sophie Muller I was seven months pregnant, so for that reason I came up with the idea of finding look-alikes to represent some of my different 'personas,' so I wouldn't exhaust myself by having to perform the entire thing by myself. We held this audition that was probably one of the most surreal experiences of my life. Sophie and I were in the darkness of a theatre, while people queued up to present their version of what they thought could be a potential 'Annie Lennox' performance. It was the maddest thing. I was literally curled up in a ball with stifled hysterics on the floor of the theatre."

    Holding On For Life Lyrics

Girl take a seat, rest your weary bones
Your secrets safe in my hands
Tell me about the years and
    Let me buy an hour
    Maybe help me to understand
    Ooh ain't nobody callin'
    Ain't nobody home
What a lovely day to be lonely

    You're Holding On For Life
    Holding on for life oh
    Holding on for love.
    You're holding on for life
    Holding on for life oh
    Holding on for love.

    Light another cigarette
    Burning in the cold
Waiting on the street for your man
You're trying not to look so
    Young and miserable
You gotta get your kicks while you can
In the lighted corner, sitting on your own
What a lovely day to be lonely

    You're holding on for life
    Holding on for life oh
    Holding on for love.
    You're holding on for life
    Holding on for life oh
    Holding on for love.

Well you might belong to another time
Still you have to carry on here
No where else to go and you never know
What to hide and what to show, no

    You're holding on for life
    Holding on for life oh
    Holding on for love.
    You're holding on for life
    Holding on for life oh
    Holding on for love.

    Holding On For Life
  • Broken Bells are an indie rock duo comprising vocalist James Mercer of The Shins and producer Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton. This is the lead single from their After The Disco album.
  • The song finds vocalist James Mercer channeling his inner Barry Gibb. "I was in the vocal booth and I was like, 'Let me try this falsetto thing,'" he recalled to NME. "But it was when we doubled the track that I was like, 'Oh my God, it's the f---ing Bee Gees! On a Shins record, that song would sound like a joke, but with Broken Bells, you change the context and it works really well."
  • The After the Disco album comes paired with a sci-fi short film directed by Jacob Gentry and starring Anton Yelchin (Star Trek Into Darkness, Terminator Salvation) and Kate Mara (House of Cards, American Horror Story). The second segment shares its title with this song, which features prominently in the promo. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gentry said he envisioned the video as a successor to another Broken Bells clip, 2010's "The Ghost Inside." "The last video we had done for 'The Ghost Inside' was more like a narrative short film done in a similar way, so we thought this could be a spiritual sequel," he said. "But we wanted this to be more fantastical, psychedelic — like Logan's Run and Barbarella — but still live in the Broken Bells universe. The vision for it is really a collaboration between Brian [Burton], James, the designer Jacob Escebedo, and myself coming together and vibing out on images and ideas that inspire the album and vice versa."
  • Mercer told NME regarding this song: "Brian is quite cynical about relationships, but this has a lot of my lines that are more sympathetic."

The Ballad Of Curtis Loew Lyrics

Well, I used to wake the mornin'
    Before the rooster crowed
    Searchin' for soda bottles
    To get myself some dough
Brought 'em down to the corner
    Down to the country store
Cash 'em in, and give my money
To a man named Curtis Loew

Old Curt was a black man
    With white curly hair
When he had a fifth of wine
He did not have a care
He used to own an old Dobro
Used to play it 'cross his knee
I'd give old Curt my money
He'd play all day for me

    Play me a song
    Curtis Loew, Curtis Loew
Well, I got your drinkin' money
    Tune up your Dobro
    People said he was useless
    Them people all were fools
'Cause Curtis Loew was the finest picker
    To ever play the blues

    He looked to be sixty
    And maybe I was ten
    Mama used to whoop me
But I'd go see him again
I'd clap my hands, stomp my feet
    Try to stay in time
He'd play me a song or two
Then take another drink of wine

    Play me a song
    Curtis Loew, Curtis Loew
Well, I got your drinkin' money
    Tune up your Dobro
    People said he was useless
    Them people all were fools
'Cause Curtis Loew was the finest picker
    To ever play the blues

    Yes, sir

On the day old Curtis died
    Nobody came to pray
    Ol' preacher said some words
And they chunked him in the clay
    Well, he lived a lifetime
    Playin' the black man's blues
And on the day he lost his life
That's all he had to lose

    Play me a song
    Curtis Loew, hey Curtis Loew
I wish that you was here so
    Everyone would know
    People said he was useless
    Them people all were fools
'Cause Curtis you're the finest picker
    To ever play the blues

    The Ballad Of Curtis Loew
  • Curtis Loew is not the name of an actual person from Ronnie Van Zant's life. Rather, Curtis Loew is a composite of different people, including Skynyrd lead guitarist Ricky Medlocke's grandfather, Shorty Medlocke. Contrary to the song's lyrics, Shorty was not black. In a 1997 interview on the Lyve From Steel Town album, the band was quoted as jokingly saying, "We needed to 'color' the song up."
  • A dobro is a resonator guitar with a mechanical amplifier. It was originally released in 1927. Gibson now owns the rights to the dobro guitar.
  • According to Ronnie Van Zant's widow Judy Van Zant Jenness, the unusual spelling of "Loew" was Skynyrd guitarist Ed King's idea. When he was writing the liner notes for the Second Helping album, he decided to name the character after Loew's Theater - thus giving an old Bluesman a Jewish name.

Doesn't sink in, and you fought above my head

I don't feel the same inside
I can't decide if I have the heart to confess

And I don't think I'm ready to go in this heavy
I thought we would take it slow
And now you got that feelin'
You say that you mean it
But for me, I just don't know

    Ooh, ooh, ooh
    I can't see it, I don't feel it
I need to dig a little Deeper
    I can't say that, I won't say it back

    And I don't want that
That's not something that I need

  • This sensual slice of neo-soul is the debut single released by Ella Eyre. The British singer-songwriter first came to notoriety following her contributions to Rudimental's "Waiting All Night," Naughty Boy and Wiz Khalifa's "Think About It" and Tinie Tempah's "Someday (Place in the Sun)."
  • Ella Eyre said of her debut release: "I've always wanted to hit people in the face with my music, rather than tickle them. I've always been into punchy, loud songs - passionate, with a message. And I've always been really lyrical - I love the idea that someone has felt the same as me. I love honesty, brutality and rawness."
  • Eyre explained the song's meaning during an interview with MTV UK. "The story behind the song is basically an experience that I had with a guy," she said. "You know when you're young and you're having fun and it's all new and exciting and then they drop the three-word deal breaker on you and you're just like 'no, why did you do that?!' So then I just put it into a song, there you go."

There she was just a-walkin' down the street, singin' "Do Wah Diddy Diddy dum diddy do"
Snappin' her fingers and shufflin' her feet, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"

We walked on (walked on) to my door (my door)
We walked on to my door, then we kissed a little more

Whoa-oh, I knew we was falling in love
Yes I did, and so I told her all the things I'd been dreamin' of

Now we're together nearly every single day, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
A-we're so happy and that's how we're gonna stay, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
    Well I'm hers (I'm hers), she's mine (she's mine)
I'm hers, she's mine, wedding bells are gonna chime

    Do Wah Diddy Diddy
  • This was written by the songwriting team of Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich, who were looking to recreate the gibberish gold they struck on The Crystals hit "Da Doo Ron Ron." They stumbled upon "Do Doo Ron Ron," but found that creating a nonsense phrase on purpose was not easy, as it had to sound good and sing well. They settled on "Do Wah Diddy," and pictured it as another girl group hit. It was first recorded (as "Do-Wah-Diddy") in 1963 by The Exciters, who were coming off their hit song "Tell Him."

This female version ("There he was, just walking down the street...") topped out at #78, but got the attention of the British group Manfred Mann, who started performing it at their shows. Since The Beatles had some success covering songs by American girl groups (The Shirelles "Boys" and The Marvelettes "Please Mr. Postman"), Manfred Mann decided to give it a shot and recorded "Do-Wah-Diddy," adding their extra Diddy to make it "Do Wah Diddy Diddy."

In the UK, where Manfred Mann was established with the hits "5-4-3-2-1" (#5) and "Hubble Bubble (Toil And Trouble)" (#11), the song topped the chart in July, 1964. In America, it took a little longer, but in October they had the #1 hit for two weeks, joining the British Invasion.
  • The original Exciters version of this song was a rare miss for Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, who produced the track. When it tanked, they started working with the song's writers, Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich, who were going to record it themselves as The Raindrops. When they started recording it, they got word that Manfred Mann's version was on its way from England, which made their version pointless. At first, Greenwich was put off by her song getting transformed by a male group, but she quickly came around. "We thought, 'With the British Invasion, maybe this is a lucky charm, and it sure was," she said.
  • A brief history of "Diddy" on the US charts:

    1963:
"Hum Diddy Doo" by Fats Domino (#124)

    1966:
"Diddy Wah Diddy" by The Remains (#129)

When Puff Daddy changed his name to P. Diddy, he hit #66 with a song called "Diddy" in 2001.

    Fall down into the chaos.
Staring into the depths of pain darkness and suffering.
I will not be moved from this place, inside of me.
Until I understand this part of me that bleeds and captures my spirit.
If it's the death of me, then I will losen it's grip.
Protect me from the hell that burns inside of me.
No one can see this is The Hell in Me.
    Bring light into the darkness.
Awaken and stir this war within us all.
    Reveal my true intentions.
No one can see this is the hell in me.
    Will you set me free?
This is the hell in me.
Lead me out of the darkness.
Strengthen and protect the voice that makes no sound.
    Suffer and bleed for me.
Pulled from the hell that is in me.
    Set me free.
Protect me from the hell that burns inside of me.
No one can see this is the hell in me.
    Will you set me free?
This is the hell in me.

    The Hell in Me
  • Guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz told Kerrang! magazine: "'The Hell In Me' was one of the songs where I wrote all the music and brought it to the guys. They all liked it, so Jesse (Leach, vocalist) and I got together in the studio and pierced together the lyrics."

He added regarding the song's meaning: "It's pretty much about internal struggles and fighting the things that bring you down."'

    Radiant Eclipse Lyrics

Two nights ago I was shot
A bullet sunk straight through the skull
A friend pulled the trigger that silenced me
No pain as I awoke, but dead
Seeing the face of the man
The time as he lays down his gun
I knew this was going to take place
White silence, so peaceful, so numb

No one knows the time they're changing
    No one will see through

You're all gone to me, (gone to me)
I've been pulled out to watch from my eternal sleep
Intuition and a warning to believe (I will believe)
Something was wrong and though I felt I had to stay
Moving on seemed to be somber bliss
    Without one goodbye
I watch my mother shed tears

    No!
This gun has stopped time in its tracks
Has altered the course of my fate
    Destiny is shattered and timeless
Closed eyes feel the cold winds embrace

I'll watch you call, calling for me,
    You can't bring back time
Close your eyes and look away,
Fate exposed, won't let me stay
Hope will fall tonight with broken wings,
    Descending entity in me

My voice has been taken from me
The more I listen, the more I have to say

You're all gone to me, (gone to me)
I've been pulled out to watch from my eternal sleep
Intuition and a warning to believe (I will believe)
Something was wrong and though I felt I had to stay
Moving on seemed to be somber bliss
    Without one goodbye
I watch my mother shed tears
And taste the blood that she cries,
And taste the blood that she cries

I'll watch you call, calling for me,
    You can't bring back time
Close your eyes and look away,
Fate exposed, won't let me stay
Hope will fall tonight with broken wings,
    Descending entity in me
    Oh yeah
    Oh yeah
    Oh yeah

    Midnight Memories Lyrics

    1, 2, 3

Straight off the plane to a new hotel
Just touched down, you could never tell
A big house party with a crowded kitchen
People talk shh but we don't listen

Tell me that I'm wrong but I do what I please
Way too many people in the Addison Lee
Now I'm at the age when I know what I need, oh, whoa

    Midnight Memories,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, baby you and me
    Stumbling in the street
    Singing, singing, singing, singing
    Midnight memories,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, anywhere we go never say no
Just do it, do it, do it, do it

5 foot something with the skinny jeans
Don't look back, baby follow me
I don't know where I'm going but I'm finding my way
Same old shh but a different day

Tell me that I'm wrong but I do what I please
Way too many people in the Addison Lee
Now I'm at the age when I know what I need, oh, whoa

    Midnight memories,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, baby you and me
    Stumbling in the street
    Singing, singing, singing, singing
    Midnight memories,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, anywhere we go never say no
Just do it, do it, do it, do it

You and me and all our friends
I don't care how much we spend
Baby, this is what the night is for,
    I know nothing's making sense
    For tonight let's just pretend
I don't wanna stop so give me more

    Midnight memories,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, baby you and me
    Stumbling in the street
    Singing, singing, singing, singing
    Midnight memories,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, anywhere we go never say no
Just do it, do it, do it, do it

    Midnight Memories
  • The title track of One Direction's third album is an ode to the quintet's life on tour. It was written by Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson from the band with their frequent collaborators, John Ryan, Julian Bunetta and Jamie Scott. The same trio also co-penned "Story of My Life."
  • Liam told Ryan Seacrest during a pre-release Q&A that this track is the most significant part of Midnight Memories. "This was the first song we wrote on the new album and it set us on course of what writing the rest of this album was going to be. It set the tone," he explained.
  • The song talks about over-crowded Addison Lees, which is a reference to a London-based minicab company. Addison Lee was co-founded by minicab driver John Griffin, who was convinced that his new business needed a name which started with an "A" so it would appear early in telephone directory listings. A colleague mentioned to him that people thought his address, Addison Gardens, sounded very posh and Griffin added 'Lee' to complete it.
  • Julian Bumetta told MTV News the song personifies the five guys' lifestyle. "It's the title of the album and it just happens to fall in line with Up All Night, Take Me Home, it's all references to in the evening," he said.

"And midnight memories are where most of the memories of this record were made," Bunetta continued. "[It] was between midnight and 5 in the morning. We have so many memories of just being in the studio or being after a show or being in the back of the bus or going to one of the guys' places and hanging and writing. Or, [it's also] just when you're young and that's when you kind of have all your experiences."
  • When Midnight Memories entered the Billboard 200 at #1, One Direction became the first group in US chart history to debut their first three albums at the peak position. The 546,000 copies sold in its first week meant that the former X Factor act became only the third Pop group to sell more than 500,000 copies in a week since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. 'N Sync and Backstreet Boys were the two others to achieve the milestone.

Midnight Memories also reached the summit in over 26 other countries including Australia, Canada, Japan, Philippines, Spain and the United Kingdom. It was 2013's biggest-selling album around the world, clocking up global sales of four million.
  • The song bears a sonic resemblance to Def Leppard's 1987 hit single, "Pour Some Sugar On Me." However, the UK rock band's guitarist Vivian Campbell told Billboard magazine they wouldn't be pursuing legal action. "The chords are one-four-five," said Campbell. "Those are the blues. You don't get more basic than that. I think what's more reminiscent of the Leppard thing is the production, the sound, the vocals, the reverb and the way it's assembled. That is very flattering that all of a sudden these kids think it's a cool sound. I think a lot of people of their generation aren't going to connect their music to ours."
  • Midnight Memories was the UK's biggest-selling album of 2013, despite only being released at the end of November.

The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot Lyrics

If it makes you less sad, I will die by your hand.
I hope you find out what you want.
I already know what I am.

And if it makes you less sad, we'll start talking again.
And you can tell me how vile I already know that I am.
I'll grow old and start acting my age.
I'll be a brand new day in a life that you hate.

    A crown of gold.
A heart that's harder than stone.
And it hurts a whole lot, but it's missed when it's gone.

    Call me a safe bet.
    I'm betting I'm not.
I'm glad that you can forgive.
I'm only hoping as time goes, you can forget.
If it makes you less sad, I'll move out of the state.
    You can keep to yourself.
I'll keep out of your way.

And if it makes you less sad, I'll take your pictures all down.
Every picture you paint, I will paint myself out.
It's cold as a tomb, and it's dark in your room,
when I sneak to your bed to pour salt in your wounds.
So call it quits or get a grip. Say you wanted a solution.

You just wanted to be missed.
    Call me a safe bet.
    I'm betting I'm not.
I'm glad that you can forgive.
I'm only hoping as time goes, you can forget
    You are calm and reposed.
    Let your beauty unfold.

Pale white, like the skin stretched over your bones.
    Spring keeps you ever close.
    You are second hand smoke.
You are so fragile and thin.
    Standing trial for your sins.

Holding onto yourself the best you can.
You are the smell before rain.
You are the blood in my veins.
    Call me a safe bet.
    I'm betting I'm not.
I'm glad that you can forgive.
I'm only hoping as time goes, you can forget.

    Wild Heart Lyrics

    I was walking away,
But she's so beautiful it made me stay
    I don't know her name,
But I'm hoping she might feel the same
    So here I go again,
    She got my heart again!

    Tonight we'll dance
I'll be yours and you'll be mine
    We won't look back,
Take my hand and we will shine
    Oh, oh, oh
    She needs a Wild Heart
    She needs a wild heart
    I got a wild heart

    Stay here, my dear,
Feels like I've been standing right here for years
    My mind's beat up
Tell me that you feel this, and I won't give up
    I won't give up

    Tonight we'll dance
I'll be yours and you'll be mine
    We won't look back,
Take my hand and we will shine
    Oh, oh, oh
    She needs a wild heart
    She needs a wild heart
    I got a wild heart
    Oh, oh, oh
    She needs a wild heart
    She needs a wild heart
    I got a wild heart

    And I know it's late, I know it's cold
But come right here, I swear I'll never let you go
The way you move, it's wonderful
Let's do it now, 'cause one day we'll both be old
    Oh whoa oh

    Tonight we'll dance
I'll be yours and you'll be mine
    We won't look back,
Take my hand and we will shine
    Oh, oh, oh
    She needs a wild heart
    She needs a wild heart
    I got a wild heart

    Tonight we'll dance
I'll be yours and you'll be mine
    We won't look back,
Take my hand and we will shine
    Oh, oh, oh
    She needs a wild heart
    She needs a wild heart
    I got a wild heart
    Oh, oh, oh
    She needs a wild heart
    She needs a wild heart
    I've got a wild heart

    Wild Heart
  • This song was written by the band in New York City with:

Espionage, who are a Norwegian production duo comprising Espen Lind and Amund Bjørklund. Their other credits include Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable," Chris Brown's "With You" and Train's Hey Soul Sister."

Jamie Scott, who is a British songwriter best known for co-writing many of One Direction's tunes including their hit single, "Story of My Life." His other credits include Enrique Iglesias' "Heartbeat", Michael Kiwanuka's "Home Again" and Matt Cardle and Mel C's "Loving You."
  • The Vamps offered fans nine different editions of the tune including a version with Pixie Lott and a Nashville Mix. Each Vamp also recorded their own interpretation.
  • The Vamps told MTV UK that this song had a big influence on the sound of their debut album. "We really enjoyed making 'Can We Dance,' but with 'Wild Heart' we kind of experimented more with musical genre in the sense that we added a banjo and mandolin," James revealed. "We like to try and push ourselves into directions to try new things really and we've gone for more of a folky vibe so we hope people like it. We like to think it's a feel good song I guess."

Bradley added: "Wild Heart has kind of influenced the rest of the album sound almost just because it was such a key song for us."
