Sweet Little Somethin' Song Chart

This country-meets-EDM rocker urges listeners to head to the dance floor. Aldean said he tried to incorporate some of his favorite styles and sounds into the Old Boots New Dirt album. "Just because I'm a country artist doesn't mean I don't hear things in other forms of music that I think are really cool and could work for what we're doing here," he explained.

Speaking with Entertainment.ie , Jason Aldean recalled his reaction when he first heard this song's demo: "'Sweet Little Somethin' is written by David Lee Murphy," he said. "He was one of the writers on it who has written a ton of stuff for us in the past, so when I heard that song for the first time, I was actually on the way out to my farm, and I had a CD of songs I was listening to. And I put it in; hadn't heard it yet, and so it was like a two lane road going out to my farm; 50 mile hour zone. I'm cruising down there doing about 75 in a 50, so I figured that was a pretty good sign for the song. It made me want to drive faster which is usually a good sign when you're listening to the tempo."

"It was something we definitely needed for the record; tempos are always the hardest thing to find for any album. When you find one that's cool you want to lock on it pretty quick and go 'yes' because they are diamonds in the rough- you don't find them a lot," Aldean continued. That's why 'Sweet Little Somethin' or 'She's Country' or 'My Kinda Party' songs like that...when you hear those songs it's almost like thank you it was a gift because they don't come around pretty often."

This Neil Thrasher, Lee Thomas Miller and Tom Shapiro penned song is the title track of Jason Aldean's sixth album. "That title and that song, 'Old Boots, New Dirt,' is about starting with a clean slate," Aldean explained. "I'm the same dude, but we're gonna start over and hit some uncharted territory here."

Jason Aldean expanded on the track's meaning to Entertainment.ie : "The song talks about coming out the other side of a break-up and trying to get as far away from that as you can," he said. "You don't really know where you are headed, but you're going to figure it out as you go. A lot of times, that's what songwriting is about; it's about finding a new and inventive ways to say the same thing sometimes. I think this was a way to say that in a way that hasn't been said before."

This Old Boots, New Dirt track about country music's favorite mode of transportation was penned by Neil Thrasher, Wendell Mobley and Andrew Pates. Aldean told Billboard magazine why the song resonated with him. "I think that's another of those songs that as a guy, you always remember your first car -- the one you drive until the wheels fall off," he said. "You've got all these memories of things you've done in it, and at 16, that's what you look forward to most - being able to drive."

"A song like this tells that story," Aldean continued. "I thought about my first car, running it into the ditch, and all the other things I did. I thought it was a really cool way to say something like that, and I had never heard a song say it that way."

Aldean told Taste of Country the song reflects his story. "I had a '94 pickup truck when I turned about 16," he said. "I had about 150,000 miles on it and it definitely has some good stories. I hope somebody runs it off a cliff."

"You want to leave your mark and I think the song 'Gonna Know We Here' is about doing that," Aldean added; "it's about making the best of your time and leaving your mark on the world."

This song originated with Brett Beavers' contemplations on mortality and the fact that as people pass, most of their contributions to the world are lost or forgotten. "I had that thought rolling around in my head for a while from a spiritual standpoint, like, 'Hey, 100 years from now it's not going to matter,'" he told Billboard magazine. "I kind of coupled that with wanting to leave a mark. We want to do something significant or something to where they'll remember us."

Beavers brought up the idea when he arrived for a writing appointment at the home of Brett James. "We kind of got into a long, deep conversation about that," James recalled. "'How much of our existence is going to be remembered long term?' We had a conversation about that, and then it turned into a Bonnie & Clyde, tear-up-the-world kind of song."

As the duo started working on the song a 'Let's live fast' theme developed. "It's not necessarily 'live fast, die young,' but if we do [die young], that's OK," said James. "Overall, it's a personality rather than a specific lyric."

The Shaun Silva-directed music video finds Aldean taking a stroll down memory lane at the high school that he attended - Windsor Academy in Macon, Georgia. The clip also shows footage of a football game that was played at the school's homecoming event.

"This song pretty much sums up how I feel like me and my fans live our lives," Aldean said. "That same excitement is what we feel out there on the road every night... It was pretty cool that we could bring that vibe to the music video, too, by shooting it back in Macon with a ton of people from my hometown. Getting back there and on that high school football field really reminded me of that rush of just living life without any regrets."

Just Gettin' Started Song Chart

This energetic love song finds Aldean singing of a dirt road drive under the moonlight with a beautiful woman. The song was written by Chris DeStefano, Rhett Akins, Ashley Gorley. The three Nashville songwriters also penned together Billy Currington's hit tune "Hey Girl."

Speaking to Radio.com , Aldean admitted that he originally intended to title his sixth album after this song, but the more he considered other tracks on the release it became clear it should be named after the Old Boots, New Dirt tune.

"We had 'Just Gettin' Started,' which I felt like, here we are on our sixth album and I feel like we're getting warmed up good," he said. "I felt like that was a fitting title.
