Trouble Lyrics

I don't look for Trouble
But trouble looks for me
And it's been waiting around corners
Since I was seventeen
They say "Here comes a hurricane
Trouble is her middle name!"
But I don't look for trouble
Yeah trouble looks for me
Hey hey!

I just want to live a quiet life
I'll make an excellent wife
Man I swear I really try
But some boys they just can't eat it whole
Trouble is my name you know
(Trouble is my name you know)

I don't look for trouble
But trouble looks for me
And it's been waiting around corners
Since I was seventeen
They say "Here comes a hurricane
Trouble is her middle name!"
But I don't look for trouble
Yeah trouble looks for me
Hey hey!

Hey!
Hey hey!
Hey!
Hey hey!

I don't look for trouble
But trouble looks for me
And it's been waiting around corners
Since I was seventeen
They say that you
Got so many sides
I'm a Gemini
But I don't look for trouble
Trouble looks for me

Lights up let's have a toke
Pour more whiskey in my Coke
Never been one of the herd
Flipping everyone the bird
People say that I am heartless
I've just learned to use my heart less
I go hard 'cause I'm the hardest
And we ain't even started yet!

Hey!
Hey hey!
Hey!
Hey hey!
Hey!
Hey hey!
Hey!
Hey hey!
Trouble!

I don't look for trouble
But trouble looks for me
And it's been waiting around corners
Since I was seventeen
They say "Here comes a hurricane
Trouble is her middle name!"
But I don't look for trouble
Yeah trouble looks for me
Hey hey!

Hey!
Hey hey!
Hey!
Hey hey!
Hey!
Hey hey!
Hey!
Hey hey!

Trouble!

  • Neon Jungle are a British four-piece girl group consisting of Amira McCarthy, Asami Zdrenka, Jess Plummer, and Shereen Cutkelvin. This EDM pop tune is their debut single, which was released September 1, 2013.
  • The song was developed by Neon Jungle with English singer-songwriter Anita "Cocknbullkid" Blay. The intention was to showcase the band's fun and youthful side. "Everyone says it's really catchy, that you can't get it out of your head, so that's always a good thing," Neon Jungle told Fuse TV. It is a good introductory [song for us]: It's catchy, it gets in your head. It's two and a half minutes long so it doesn't drag out too much. It's just fun."

Following a number of low profile releases, Cocknbullkid signed to Moshi Moshi through Island Records in 2009. She released several much acclaimed records that failed to trouble the charts, but achieved her first hit production with this song.
  • Amira told Digital Spy how they came up with their Neon Jungle name. She explained: "We've got a song called 'Welcome To The Jungle' and we wanted something that could represent what we are. We're all individual and quite different, which is why we decided on Neon. We tried to put lots of different words with it, but they weren't working. Eventually we decided on Neon Jungle."

    Trouble Lyrics

    Trouble
    Trouble, trouble, trouble, trouble
Trouble been doggin' my soul since the day I was born
    Worry
    Worry, worry, worry, worry
Worry just will not seem to leave my mind alone
    We'll I've been
    Saved by a woman
    I've been
    Saved by a woman
    I've been
    Saved by a woman
    She won't let me go
She won't let me go now
    She won't let me go
She won't let me go now

    Trouble
    Oh, trouble, trouble, trouble, trouble
Feels like every time I get back on my feet
She come around and knock me down again
    Worry
    Oh, worry, worry, worry, worry
Sometimes I swear it feels like this worry is my only friend
    We'll I've been saved
    By a woman
    I've been saved
    By a woman
    I've been saved
    By a woman
    She won't let me go
She won't let me go now
    She won't let me go
She won't let me go now

    Oh, ah
    Oh
    She good to me now
She gave me love and affection
    She good tell me now
She gave me love and affection
    I Said I love her
    Yes I love her
    I said I love her
    I said I love
    She good to me now
    She's good to me
    She's good to me

    Trouble
  • The title track of Ray LaMontagne's debut album, this was originally released as a single in February 2005 but failed to chart on that occasion. Re-released during the following year's summer, it peaked at #25 on the UK Singles Chart.
  • LaMontagne said during a Reddit AMA that the song was a writing exercise. He explained: "The inspiration for 'Trouble' was really more an exercise in the writing process. I was trying to emulate early sixties soul songs that were very simple in structure, simple and direct in the lyric, but somehow they're really effective. Even though if you take them apart, there's not a lot of parts, there's something so effective. They seem to last forever. I was trying to write one of those kind of songs."
  • The song soundtracked a Travelers Insurance campaign, which showed a dog concerned over the security of his bone.
  • This featured in the second season of the American television show Rescue Me, along with the Trouble tracks "Burn" and "All the Wild Horses." The song has also featured in episodes of Torchwood, The Office and the finale of the first season of True Blood.

    Trouble Lyrics

    Oh no I see
A spider web it's tangled up with me
    And I lost my head
The thought of all the stupid things I said
    Oh no what's this
A spider web and I'm caught in the middle
    So I turned to run
The thought of all the stupid things I've done

And oh I never meant to cause you Trouble
And oh and I never meant to do you wrong
And oh well if I ever caused you trouble
Oh no I never meant to do you harm

    Oh no I see
A spider web and it's me in the middle
    So I twist and turn
Here am I in my little bubble

    Singing out
Oh I never meant to cause you trouble
Oh I never meant to do you wrong
Oh well if I ever caused you trouble
Oh no I never meant to do you harm

They spun a web for me
They spun a web for me
They spun a web for me

    Trouble
  • This is about a guy who realizes too late that he has gotten himself into something really bad and can't get himself out. He figures out that he got there by hurting another person badly and is trying to apologize to that person.
  • Two music videos were made. The original UK version, directed by Sophie Muller (No Doubt, Garbage), finds the band in the Wild West, where frontman Chris Martin is held captive in a warehouse and tied to a chair. It was shot at a ranch in Newhall, California.

The US version, directed by Tim Hope, features the band members as two-dimensional figures who get caught up in a tornado and land in suburbia. The clip won for Best Art Direction at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards.

    Trouble Lyrics

Hang me strong like a burning whiskey
Hang me sweet like Tennessee honey, honey
Pretty as a daisy, careful if you pick me
This wildflower can get a little crazy, baby

If you're runnin' around, you better run from me
You pack up your bags and get goin', get goin'
You wreck my heart, I wreck everything
And anything I can get my hands on
If you lie-lie-lie look with those wandering eyes
Better find one hell of a place to hide
Can you mess with me, you best believe
    That you're gonna be
    Asking for Trouble

You got too many holes in your story
And I-I-I'll get down to the truth don't you worry, worry
Piece by piece I'll put it all together
You cross that line, you cross me forever, baby

If you're runnin' around, you better run from me
You pack up your bags and get goin', get goin'
You wreck my heart, I wreck everything
And anything I can get my hands on
If you lie-lie-lie with those wandering eyes
Better find one hell of a place to hide
Can you mess with me, you best believe
    That you're gonna be a
    Asking for trouble

    (Oh, oh) trouble
    (Oh, oh)

If you're runnin' around, you better run from me
You pack up your bags and get goin', get goin'
You wreck my heart, I wreck everything
And anything I can get my hands on
If you lie-lie-lie with those wandering eyes
Better find one hell of a place to hide
Can you mess with me, you best believe
    You best believe, baby

If you're foolin' around, you ain't foolin' me
You pack up your shit and get goin', get goin'
You wreck my heart, I wreck everything
And anything I can get my hands on
    lie-lie-lie with those wandering eyes

  • Gloriana's Mike Gossin and Rachel Reinert penned this about the latter's experience with an ex-boyfriend who cheated on her. "We dated for a couple years. I ended up finding out that he was cheating on me, which I did suspect," Reinert said. "He, of course, lied about it, which, shocker, right?"

"If you cross me, then then I'm gonna make you pay for it," she added.

Reinert decided to channel her anger by writing this song with the help of Gossin. "The fact that she was cool enough to put down that wall and open herself up and put herself out there," said Gossin, "tell her story for people to hear and to relate to and hopefully help through a cheating situation, whether it's boy or girl, I think, is the best part of the whole situation."
  • Reinert told Billboard magazine the song comes from a true and honest place. "We were together for a couple of years, and he ended up being a dirty cheater and a liar," she recalled to Billboard magazine. "I ended up finding out about his escapades from a tabloid, which was awesome."

"It was the highlight of my year," Reinert added sarcastically. "Women are like little detectives. If we feel like there's something going on, we'll figure it out. That was where the song came from."
  • Reinert explained to Radio.com that the song title was inspired by a person talking to her about her unfaithful ex-boyfriend. "Somebody mentioned something about that person, and I was like, 'Ugh. Now you're just asking for trouble,'" she recalled "And then we're like, 'Oh my God, there's our title!' That's where it all came from."
