Sharp Dressed Man Song Chart

ZZ Top were never considered sex symbols or fashion icons, but they were convincing in this song about how rich, well-dressed men are irresistible to women. This being the '80s, a silk suit was considered fashionable, although ZZ Top seemed much more comfortable in overalls.

In a 1985 interview with Spin magazine, bass player Dusty Hill explained: "Sharp-dressed depends on who you are. If you're on a motorcycle, really sharp leather is great. If you're a punk rocker, you can get sharp that way. You can be sharp or not sharp in any mode. It's all in your head. If you feel sharp, you be sharp."

According to Billy Gibbons, he got the idea for this song when he saw a movie and a character was listed in the credits as "Sharp-Eyed Man" (possibly the 1981 film The Amateur).

The music video was the first that was a sequel. It picked up the story from the "Gimme All Your Lovin'" video of the down-on-his-luck gas station worker who is swept away by three beautiful women. In "Sharp Dressed Man," he's a valet, and he encounters the same three girls and is once again given the keys to The Eliminator, which is Billy Gibbons' 1933 Ford Hot Rod.

This was one of the first ZZ Top songs to use synthesizers. Mixed with Billy Gibbons' distinctive guitar sound, it gave them a new sound without alienating their old fans. It also helped that ZZ Top used their synths for bass, keeping the sound more heavy and less Human League.

Eliminator was one of very few albums that have sold over 10 million copies, earning Diamond certification.

This song attracted a slew of new fans to ZZ Top when the video ran constantly on MTV. Their long beards made them instantly recognizable. The fancy car and use of babes in the video also helped.

The women in the video were Playboy models - beautiful women were a fixture of ZZ Top's videos and stage shows. The video vixens were Jeana Tomasino, Kymberly Herrin and Daniele Arnaud. Tomasina would later become Jeana Keogh and star in The Real Housewives of Orange County.

ZZ Top performed this at the 1997 VH1 Fashion Awards while male models walked the runway. In order to keep up their strictly heterosexual image, a bunch of beautiful women danced around the band during the performance.

This song is all about a man who is super vain. Henderson told HMV.com the tracks on Chapter One are snapshots of how she felt at the time. On this song, for instance she said, "I was so angry at the person in that track and out came this track that's really full of attitude."

Henderson told MTV UK the song shows a much more edgy side to her. "I think a lot of the time, people imagine me as a very soft spoken artist… this does showcase another side of me," she explained. "Not that I'm trying to shock or anything like that, it's just you know (there) are different sides to everybody's character and different things that people can relate to."

Ella Henderson wrote the song with Al Shux, whose other songwriting credits include Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" and Lana Del Rey's "Young And Beautiful."

Henderson explained the background to the song: "It's about the most self-centered person I've ever met," she said. "Everyone has experienced that type of person. They love themselves before they can love anyone else. 'Mirror Man' is probably my favorite song to sing live. I'm not about attitude at all, but the song is so honest and rude that everyone loves it, and they're desperate to discover who Mirror Man is."

Asked by OfficialCharts.com if the subject of the song is aware it's about them, Henderson replied: "Probably not because they love themselves that much! I think everyone in life has experienced a mirror man or mirror girl. If you haven't you will at some point."

This was the first hit for Poe. It got a lot of play on "Alternative" radio stations.

Matt Sorum, who was the drummer for Guns N' Roses, played on this and helped produce the album.

This was inspired by Poe's childhood and the death of her father. She lived on her own after her parents divorced when she was 16, and her father died a few years later.

Poe chose "Johnny" because it is the All-American name.

Poe's brother wrote a book in 2000 called House Of Leaves with a character named Johnny Truant. That character is partly based on this song.

Poe toured with Lenny Kravitz while this was gaining popularity.

Blind Faith was a Supergroup made up of Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Ginger Baker, and Ric Grech. This is their only album.

Winwood wrote this and sang lead. Many critics noted that Blind Faith sounded a lot more like Winwood's old band Traffic than Clapton's Cream, which is what Clapton was going for.

Clapton played acoustic guitar on this, which he rarely did. In his previous group, Cream, he played long, intense solos, something he wanted to get away from with Blind Faith.

The album cover was a photo of an 11-year-old girl. She was naked and holding a model spaceship, which caused a lot of controversy. They released an alternate cover with a picture of the band when stores refused to carry the original.

Clapton sometimes plays this at his concerts, with a member of his band singing. His bass player Nathan East would often sing it.

A common misconception is that Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood reunited at the Crossroads Guitar Festival, July 28, 2007, however, the first true live reunion occurred two months earlier at an event called Countryside Rocks at Highclere Castle, Hampshire, UK on May 19, 2007. Steve Winwood performed his set and Eric came on later as a guest. Together they played this song as well as "Watch Your Step," "Presence of the Lord," "Crossroads," "Little Queen Of Spades," "Had to Cry Today" and "Gimme Some Lovin'." Vocalist Nate Barcalow told Artist Direct : "Originally, (guitarist) Alex Linares wrote the song, and it was a heavier full band song. This song was written and originally recorded by the rock pioneer Bo Diddley in 1957. The composer credits are listed as his real name: Ellas McDaniel. Clapton released the song as the B-side of "Bad Love," the first single from Journeyman.

Clapton used to perform this song in his early days with The Yardbirds. He never considered putting it on a record until guitarist Robert Cray and drummer Jim Keltner started jamming on the tune one day in the studio during the Journeyman sessions. The Cray/Clapton combo on this song make it a favorite of guitar aficionados.

Dead Man's Tetris Song Chart

This track features Flying Lotus spitting rhymes under his rap pseudonym of Captain Murphy. He is joined by Snoop Dogg and the pair rap about an afterlife fantasy involving the late J Dilla and Freddie Mercury over melodic bleeps and gunshot effects.

This is the oldest beat to make the You're Dead album. FlyLo explained in a press release that he's particularly interested in the afterlife and death's residual effects on the living. "The album isn't about the end, it's really the beginning," he said. "It's a celebration of the next experience."

Bad Love Song Chart

Mick Jones from the band Foreigner wrote this with Clapton. It's not the first time Jones had worked with other rock stars: he produced Van Halen's 5150 album.

This won the 1990 Grammy for Best Rock Vocal. Clapton got a Grammy in 1972 for playing on the Concert For Bangladesh, which won Best Album, but this was his first as a solo artist. He won six more in 1993, including three for "Tears In Heaven."

Clapton's record company, Warner Brothers, was pressuring him to write something similar to "Layla" so they could have a hit from the Journeyman album. So, setting out to write a hit song with Mick Jones, Clapton followed his "Layla" formula to create this song.

Phil Collins played on the Journeyman album and sang backup on some tracks. Clapton played on Collins' first album in 1981.

The bridge is based on "Badge," which is one of Clapton's hits with Cream. Mick Jones had the idea to use it.

This was released as the first single from Journeyman, the first album Clapton released after his Crossroads boxed set.
