Blood On The Snow

This is a track from Erasure's first holiday themed album, Snow Globe. The pair resisted the idea of a festive record until they could devise a unique approach. "Everything about Christmas has been written already," said Erasure's keyboardist Vince Clarke . "We thought it would be more interesting to look into the darker side of the season. For a lot of people, Christmas is not a happy time."

This song finds Andy Bell singing of dark imagery concerning coal, ash and blood, before giving way to the hope of a bright guiding star and three humble gifts. "'Blood on the Snow' was just another sound that kind of came to me really early, probably 3 o'clock in the morning," he explained to The Hollywood Reporter . "I just sang the song into the iPhone -- all the words just came out. I thought afterwards that it was based on the little tin solder story [i.e. Hans Christian Anderson's The Steadfast Tin Soldier]. ... We also tried to capture the essence and innocence of Christmases past, like those old black-and-white movies, It's a Wonderful Life and the original Miracle on 34th St."

This upbeat track finds Imagine Dragons celebrating a breakthrough for the band after striving for years to become successful. The song originally appeared on the band's major-label debut EP Continued Silence, before appearing on their debut studio album Night Visions. Released as the LP's third single, it topped the chart in Portugal and also reached the Top Ten in Australia, Austria, The Netherlands and New Zealand.

The Matt Eastin and Corey Fox directed video was filmed in Utah and plays on the long-held conspiracy theory that the first moon landing was staged. The visual also contains a number of several blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments, including several nods to Stanley Kubrick films and the Paul is dead urban legend that surrounded the Beatles (see the white car's changing license plate around the one-minute mark). "It's a very different video; if you've watched our videos, you know to expect the unexpected. But I think this is my favorite," frontman Dan Reynolds told MTV News. "There's a lot going on it it, some if it is subliminal. 'Sno Gard.' I'll say that. It has no meaning to you, but when you see the video, you'll be like 'Sno Gard ... okay, Dan gave me a good hint.'"

The phrase "Sno Gard" — which is "Dragons" spelled backwards features several times in the clip.

The song was licensed for inclusion on the soundtrack of the FIFA 13 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 video games. Other appearances in the media include serving as the opening theme of the short-lived CBS comedy series Partners and being used in a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 advert.

This was performed by the PS22 Chorus during Barack Obama's second United States presidential inauguration.

Stockholm Syndrome

This is about a relationship that you feel trapped in (The term "Stockholm Syndrome" was coined by a Swedish doctor after hostages in a Stockholm bank robbery started to identify and even become attracted to their captors - the term is used to describe an instance of loving someone who holds you captive) but is going nowhere (references to flying, falling and burning; loving hoping and dying to no avail). The chorus is like an apology for abandoning and forgetting the other person, but secretly wishing that it was over: "The last time I'll forget you - I wish I could."

The solo and outro are played the exact same way as the intro, just in a different speed and key.

This began life as a filler riff during live shows until the band decided to expand it into a full song.

This was the first released on Absolution (Muse's third studio album) and was available as a download-only single. In summer 2005 it was released for the first time in the US.

The video was shot with thermal imaging, and cuts between a hostage situation (where the original term Stockholm Syndrome originated), and the band. The word "Prisoner" is written on skin several times, and the word "Captor" is scrawled on a wall at the start.

The lyrics for the bleepy, Trip-Hoppy title track of Lady Gaga's third album are a contemplation on the crossing of art and pop culture. They find the New York songstress comparing a potential relationship between two people to the kinship between "art" and "pop." She croons:

Producer White Shadow told MTV News the song was a defining moment during the making of ARTPOP: "I think 'Artpop' is definitive just because it is the title track," he said. "It's, like, one of the first ones she wrote. It's like the backbone of the record, right? It's what the record is about and, again, it kind of set up the stage to do different stuff."

Gaga explained the concept of the album during a Sirius XM special: "Every track on ARTPOP represents one adrenaline rush," she said. "Adrenaline of sex, adrenaline of art, adrenaline of fashion, adrenaline of drugs, etc."
