Black Cat Bone Lyrics

I believes my old lady she done, drive my black bone
You know I made my old lady she done, drive my Black Cat Bone
I got a funny feeling right here, something's going all wrong

She don't shoot in the morning, she walk the streets till late at night
She don't shoot in the morning, she walk the streets till late at night
Well she come home in the evening, doggone baby fight

Gonna call up the operator, right around the town
Get up this crazy world that's going on, I believe my baby she done, drive my black cat bone
Got a funny feeling right here, something's going wrong

My mama treats me like a, well fed dog at bay
You know my baby, like a well fed dog at bay
Yeah, I might be tired of living and I'll put

I'm gonna take it up iron Memphis, to get my hands on the bone
Gonna lay around here living till I, get on the phone
Gonna make it to Memphis man, to get my hands on the bone
I'm gonna lay around here in Mississippi, 'cause or else it's gonna spoil

I believes my old lady she done, drive my black bone
You know I made my old lady she done, drive my black cat bone
I got a funny feeling right here, something's going all wrong

Black Cat Bone
  • The "Black Cat Bone" is a blues totem. Black cats are considered a sign of bad luck in some cultures, but in the Hoodoo world adhered to by many African-American residents of the American South at the time, the bone of a black cat had special powers, typically allowing its holder to attain a special woman who resists his tangible charms. In this song, Winter is looking for the bone to solve his lady problems.
  • A Texas blues musician named Hop Wilson wrote a song called "My Woman Has A Black Cat Bone" sometime in the '50s; this tune has been covered by Albert Collins, Robert Cray and many other artists. Lightnin' Hopkins also had a song called "Black Cat Bone," and many famous bluesmen have incorporated the phrase into their lyrics: Muddy Waters did it in "Hoochie Coochie Man" ("I got a black cat bone and I got a mojo"), and Blind Lemon Jefferson in "Broke and Hungry" ("I believe my good gal have found my black cat bone"), and Bo Diddley in his eponymous song ("Mojo come to my house, ya black cat bone").

    Out Of The Picture Lyrics

You left me you sent me through
I'm all alone lost without you what shall I do?
Out Of The Picture out of the frame
And now when you see me nothings the same
Your lips are kissing somebody new
I'm out of the picture out of the view
Smile for I've got nothing to smile for
But I'd still run a mile for any wish you desire
    Dreams we made have faded
Out of your heart now gone is the flame
I'm out of the picture out of the frame
Out of the picture out of the frame
Your lips are kissing somebody new
Smile for I've got nothing to smile for
But I'd still run a mile for any wish you desire
    Dreams we made have faded
Out of your heart now gone is the flame
I'm out of the picture out of the frame
Please come back to me because I don't want to be
    Out of the picture

    Out Of The Picture
  • The Robins were one of California's first Doo Wop groups. They formed when Ty Terrell Leonard and the Richards brothers Billy and Roy met at Alameda High School in San Francisco in 1945, and formed the "A-Sharp Trio." The trio came to Hollywood a year later, and in 1947 they were joined by Bobby Nunn. Grady Chapman joined the group as lead singer and fifth member in 1953. In March 1954, Carl Gardner was the substitute for Grady (who was sent to jail for a while) and Carl was later featured as sixth singer in the group. In 1955, Chapman created The Coasters.
  • This song was produced in Los Angeles over 5 sessions during 1956 and early 1957.
  • In 2004, the French director Francois Vogel made the "HP + You" campaign; at Francois II, Vogel is seen holding white photo frames up to his face as each captures a snapshot, while he lip synchs the song "Out of the Picture" by The Robins.

    Very Busy People Lyrics

We'll end up numb from playing video games
We'll get sick of having sex
And we'll get fat from eating candy
As we drink ourselves to death

We'll stay up late making mix tapes
    And photoshopping pictures of ourselves
As we masturbate to those pixelated videos
    Of strangers fuckin themselves

    We are Very Busy People
    We are very busy people

There are crusty sox and boxes making trails straight to the bed
    And when we're done sleeping
We'll stay busy dreaming of the things we don't have yet

Well there's a long long list of chores and shit
    To do before we play
Let's just piss away the day
Crank-call the cops down at the station
    Just for friends conversation
    Requesting songs they never play

Lets hear the on that goes:
    We are very busy people
    We are very busy people
But we always got time for new friends

So come over and knock on our door
It's open, what you waitin for?
We might be sprawled out on the floor
But we still make lovely company
    Pull up a chair
    Ill pour some tea
We'll shoot the shit 'bout everything
Till you get tired and flip on the TV screen
We stare at the TV screen

That Danny Darki DVD has been repeating for a week
    We know every single word
I've got an iPod like a pirate ship
I'll sail the seas with fifty thousand songs I've never heard

All the best of them go
    Fa-la-la-la-la-la

    We are very busy people
    We are very busy people
But we've always got time for new friends

    Very Busy People
  • The Limousines could have happened only in the Internet era: their members Giovanni Giusti and Eric Victorino were introduced online, and made their first music before ever meeting face-to-face. While they use modern technology to their advantage, they also wonder if it is having a negative effect on society in some ways. When we asked Victorino , who writes their lyrics and fronts the duo, about this song, he replied: "It used to be that the only people who had to deal with a constant flow of information all day and all night were people like Air Traffic Controllers - very high stress lifestyle. But now we're all in our own little control towers, doing all this work with this information - none of it is as important as it seems. None of it is as urgent as we think it is. But we feel important when we feel busy, don't we?"
  • After their song "New Year's Resolution" garnered airplay on the San Francisco radio station Live 105, The Limousines signed a deal with Universal Republic to release "Very Busy People" as a single. The song was issued in 2009 and got some national attention. The record company then asked the duo to record a full-length album, and gave them just two months to do it. Eric and Gio knew they couldn't deliver a quality album in such a short timeframe, so they left the label and released their debut Get Sharp on their own in 2010. "We knew the money would be gone pretty quick, but that s--tty album would be there forever," Eric said.

The Limousines signed with Dangerbird Records in 2011, but left when the label fell into turmoil. Their next release, the 2013 album Hush, was funded by a Kickstarter campaign and released independently.

  • On Her Majesty's Secret Service, released in 1969, was the only James Bond movie to star George Lazenby as 007. In spite of this, it is one of the more well-liked Bond movies. This song is an electronic remix of the main theme from that movie.
  • At the beginning of the song, several beeps can be heard. In Morse Code, these beeps become "OHMSS," an acronym for the song title.

    GRB 09042
  • GRB stands for "Gamma-Ray Burst," and GRB 09042 is a specific burst that was discovered by University of Exeter astrophysicists in 2009.

The Limousines lead singer/lyricist Eric Victorino used the celestial event as a metaphor for desolation. "Sometimes giving up feels like the only option," he told us. "GRB09042 is the furthest point of light that we can see. It's completely out if reach."
  • Hush was the second Limousines album, and it saw the band taking a far more introspective approach, as they had gone through some dark times leading up to it: the duo lost some friends and family members, and Victorino was committed to a psychiatric facility. "Hush came from an emotional place," he said. "Get Sharp [their first album] was written from a snarky kind of sarcastic angle with almost no emotional investment."
  • The duo's instrumentalist Giovanni Giusti handles lead vocals on this song. The higher voice that comes in midway through is that of their frontman Eric Victorino.

I see the candle light burning in your
Eyes, flareing up my eyes in flames
    On this pitch-black summer night
    Of passion and pain

    The razor caressed my flesh
And my arms turned red, I feel a vast desire
Years of pain are flowing down my arms.
Sweet, red, warm stream you drink, make me released
Give me your hand, let me make you feel the ease,
In the Bed Of Razors we bleed together...

I feel the fire burning in my heart,
I see it sparkling in your eyes
The blaze you're feeding more and more

The razor caressed your flesh and your arms turned red.
    I feel your vast desire
Tearing pain is flowing down your arms.
Sweet, red, warm stream I drink to make you released
Holding your arms, cherish this composure,
In the bed of razors we sleep together, forever

    I Hope You Suffer Lyrics

    I Hope You Suffer
  • This dark love ballad finds Davey Havok unleashing some inner angst as he proclaims to an ex lover:

"I faced destruction and you just killed me and walked away
I gave my heart to the cruel now it will not beat again
    I hope you do
    I hope you suffer
    I hope you do
    Just like I suffered."

The song also contains a melodic breakdown in which Havok exercises some demons.
  • Guitarist Jake Puget came to Havok with the the majority of the body of the song's music written. The vocalist recalled to Loudwire : "He came and sat down with me and I read the top line to the verse and we just weren't happy with the chorus and we kept putting it aside and coming back to it and altering the chorus. Jade would go home sometimes and three weeks later he'd come back and be like, 'Oh, I worked on the chorus again' and there's almost this new part and we ended up where we were at but it took us awhile for us to realize that."
  • The cinematic video was directed by Surround and shot in black and white with gray tones. The clip took just one day to film, and was shot at Highland Park, Los Angeles.
  • This song features a piano part, which is unusual for AFI but not unique (The Sing The Sorrow track, "Silver And Cold" also includes some tinkering of the ivories). Guitarist Jade Puget explained to Noisecreep : "On the verse of that song which is a big part of the song there's no guitar at all, it's just piano and the sound in the background is actually a distorted brass, like a brass section. I was trying to create some layers that are a little different, left of center from what we're doing and take my guitar completely out it. It lends to spaciousness and really creates a bed for his vocal to sit where it's not like, cause guitars can take up a lot of space, so he has a lot of space to do that dynamic vocal."

Your eyes are full of hate, forty one,
    That's good
Hate keeps a man alive, its gives him strength

While cutting their shadows, kill them into the dark trough
Black is all the way, furious never-ending darkness show
Only way could be hard in their small and human nation
I kill the first man, getting by death, we are God, through death

    [Chorus]
Go, get up, victims that died
Waiting for death, I should cry

Take the farther off to cut your means,
Listening up for afraid by means,
They showed laughing me for my heart
So they wake up these scythes, following me,
Cold wind blow out, now to go,
Let it go again with the scythes

    (Something wild!)

It`s got the light, blow it out within you
Never let the best shot come from fucking Avalon, that`s the one
Time to feel my spirit, I gathered my souls
Beat my night to kill them into my sin (doom, get up!)

    [Chorus]

I can`t wait to for my heart
I can`t get up, shadows, down (can't get up!)
Set them along, time is right, far too along
They wake me up (wake me up!)

    Daydreamin'
  • During a June 2012 video interview, Ariana described her debut album as being "'50s, '60s Doo-Wop-inspired." Later in the year, she met up with her label and expressed dissatisfaction with the direction the album was taking. Ariana expressed a desire instead to make the type of '90s urban Pop music she grew up listening to. Most of the previously finished songs for the record were scrapped, except for this song, "Tattooed Heart" and "Honeymoon Avenue," which were all reworked from their original Doo-Wop sound to one with a turn of the century Pop feel.
  • The album was originally titled after this song but it was renamed Yours Truly after Ariana decided that the LP felt like a love letter she wanted to sign.

I feel so lost for me inside,
lost am I, will it never end,
but never am I stained black
Now the end is drawing near,
my hate is growing, can't you hear,

Full of hate, your hatred gets up doom

    [Chorus]
Hate, I can't control it anymore,
you'll see the red light more and more
    Trapping you in destroying despite
by the red light in my eyes

So, better wake up, drink your blood,

Take your time, beat me down, sometime, to die (die!)

Loved Me Back To Life Lyrics

I was walking dead stuck inside my head
    I couldn't get out
    Turn the lights down
The voices inside were so loud

    Need a jump-start, catatonia
    I couldn't feel,
I wish that I could disappear
The voices inside were so real

But you stood by my side.
Night after night, night after night.
You Loved Me Back To Life, life
    From the coma,
    The wait is over.
You loved me back to life, life
    From the coma,
    We're lovers again tonight.

Back to life, back to life
Back to life, back to life, yeah

You woke me up, one touch and I felt alive
You loved me back to life
Back to life, thought I died.
The voices inside were so quiet.

But you stood by my side
Night after night, night after night
You loved me back to life, life
    From the coma,
    The wait is over.
You loved me back to life, life
    From the coma,
    We're lovers again tonight.

Strong hands, thick skin and an open heart
You saw through the pain, saw through the mask
You never gave up on me, yeah

    Life, life
    From the coma,
    The wait is over.
You loved me back to life, life
    From the coma,
    We're lovers again tonight
Back to life, back to life

    Loved Me Back To Life
  • This power ballad was released as the lead single and title track from Céline Dion's eleventh English-language studio album. The song was premiered live by Dion at her Une seule fois show in Las Vegas on July 27, 2013.
  • The song was written by Australian singer-songwriter Sia Furler, whose credits include Rihanna's "Diamonds," David Guetta's "Titanium" and Flo Rida's "Wild Ones." It was Celine Dion's first single release since "My Love" in 2008. "I've been gone for six years," she told Billboard magazine. "There's a time where you think, 'Do you think people will write songs for me?'"

"I'm at the mercy of the songs because I don't write my material," Dion added. But I could not believe what I was hearing. I'm not trying to reinvent myself, I don't want people to think, 'This is a brand new Celine,' but I am at a place in my career where I'm 45, I'm at the peak of my life, and I've never felt like this before. I want to have a good time."
  • Dion performed this song for the first time on September 6, 2013 on the TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live. When Dion sat down for her interview, Kimmel engaged her in a discussion about whether it really was possible to love someone back to life, with Kimmel insisting it was impossible. Dion insisted that you could, explaining that someone in a coma could conceivably be loved back to life with prayers.
  • Dion was clearly excited about this recording. The Canadian singer is seen falling off a couch in a recording studio as she listens to the song after laying down her vocals. "When I hear something that comes from me that makes me fall down off my chair, it's not often," said Dion. "When the young generation offers me a song - Sia - that writes for Rihanna, that my (teenage) kid thought it was a mistake that she sent me that song. 'That's not true! That's not possible! Sia wrote you a song? I mean c'mon really?' It's such a powerful, powerful song and its edgy."

    Diamonds From Sierra Leone Lyrics

    Diamonds are forever
They won't leave in the night
I've no fear that they might
    Desert me

    Diamonds are forever (forever, forever)
Throw your diamonds in the sky if you feel the vibe
Diamonds are forever (forever, forever, forever)
The Roc is still alive every time I rhyme
Forever ever? Forever ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever?
Ever, ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever?

Close your eyes and imagine, feel the magic
Vegas on acid, seen through Yves St. Laurent glasses
And I've realized that I've arrived
Cause it take more than a magazine to kill my Vibe
Does he write his own rhymes, well sort of, I think 'em
That mean I forgot better shit than you ever thought of
Damn, is he really that caught up?
I ask if you talked about classics, do my name get brought up?
    I remember I couldn't afford a Ford Escort
    Or even a four-track recorder
So it's only right that I let the top drop on a drop-top Porsche
    It's for yourself, that's important
If your stripper name "Porscha" and you get tips from many men
Then your fat friend, her nickname is "Minivan"
Excuse me, that's just the Henny, man
    I smoke, I drink, I'm supposed to stop, I can't because

    Diamonds are forever (forever, forever)
Throw your diamonds in the sky if you feel the vibe
Diamonds are forever (forever, forever, forever)
The Roc is still alive every time I rhyme
Forever ever? Forever ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever?
Ever, ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever?

I was sick about awards, couldn't nobody cure me
Only playa that got robbed but kept all his jewelry
Alicia Keys tried to talk some sense in him
30 minutes later sein' there's no convincin' him
What more could you ask for? The international asshole
Who complain about what he is owed?
And throw a tantrum like he is 3 years old
You gotta love it though somebody still speaks from his soul
And wouldn't change by the change, or the game, or the fame
When he came in the game, he made his own lane
Now all I need is y'all to pronounce my name
It's Kanye, but some of my plaques, they still say Kayne
Got family in the D, Kin-folk from Motown
Back in the Chi, them Folks ain't from Moe Town
Life movin' too fast I need to slow down
Girl ain't give me no ass, ya need to go down
My father been said I need Jesus
So he took me to church and let the water wash over my caesar
The preacher said we need leaders
Right then my body got still like a paraplegic
You know who you call, you got a message, then leave it
The Roc stand tall and you would never believe it
Take your diamonds and throw 'em up like you bulimic
Yeah, the beat cold but the flow is anemic
After debris settles and the dust get swept off
Big K pick up where young Hov left off
Right when magazines wrote Kanye West off
I dropped my new shit, it sound like the best of
A&R's lookin' like, "Pssh, we messed up"
Grammy night, damn right, we got dressed up
Bottle after bottle till we got messed up
In the studio, with Really Doe, yeah, he next up
People askin' me if I'm gon' give my chain back
That'll be the same day I give the game back
You know the next question dog: "Yo, where Dame at?"
This track the Indian dance to bring our reign back
"What's up with you and Jay, man, are y'all ok man?"
They pray for the death of our dynasty like "Amen"
    R-r-r-r-right here stands a man
With the power to make a diamond with his bare hands

    Diamonds are forever (forever, forever)
Throw your diamonds in the sky if you feel the vibe
Diamonds are forever (forever, forever, forever)
The Roc is still alive every time I rhyme
Forever ever? Forever ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever?
Ever, ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever?

    Diamonds are forever (forever, forever)
Diamonds are forever (forever, forever, forever)

    Diamonds From Sierra Leone
  • This song is about Roc-A-Fella records, which is West's label. The chorus, "Throw your diamonds in the sky" refers to the Roc-A-Fella hand signal, which is the shape of a diamond. West makes it clear, however, that real diamonds are a different story, as many of them are mined using child slave labor in African nations like Sierra Leone. His aim was to show that the profits from these illicit "blood diamonds" bankroll civil wars in these African nations.
  • This is based on the song "Diamonds Are Forever" by Shirley Bassey. Written by John Barry and Don Black, "Diamonds Are Forever" is the theme to the James Bond movie of the same name released in 1971.
  • This won the 2006 Grammy for Best Rap Song. Late Registration also won for Best Rap Album, beating out Common's Be, which West also worked on.
  • Movie director Michel Gondry played live drums on this song. The Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind filmmaker happened to be in the studio on a day when producer Jon Brion was setting up a drum kit. Gondry also directed the live-action video for another Late Registration track, "Heard 'Em Say."
  • West traveled to Prague to shoot the music video with his go-to director: Hype Williams. "I'm really into architecture and art, period," West told MTV News of filming in the Czech Republic capital. "You get the sculptures, the cathedrals, the stone floors. It gives you a timeless feel, and we're gonna shoot it in black and white. That look represented the music in 'Diamonds.'"

The clip shows scenes of wealthy Europeans shopping for jewelry while African children labor in mines to provide them with diamonds. It closes with the message, "Please purchase conflict-free diamonds."
