The title track of Vérité's debut EP, the New York singer-songwriter penned the song with her producer Elliot Jacobson.

"'Echo' is a moment that summarizes the sentiment of the EP," she told Billboard magazine. "It was an idea Elliot Jacobson and I passed back and forth for a while. One day, we took the initial song, which was more of a flat, traditional pop song arrangement and literally chopped it up and removed all the instrumentation. We built it up from that place which left the vocal raw and exposed for the sentiment to shine through."
