Pulled Apart By Horses' vocalist Tom Hudson told NME that lyrically, this song was inspired by Paul Thomas Anderson's film The Master, which is "about trying to control someone else."

The 2012 drama film The Master tells the story of World War II veteran Freddie Quell (Joaquin Phoenix), who is struggling to adjust to a post-war society. He meets Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman,) and gets involved in his religious movement known as "The Cause."
