Nichols admitted to Billboard magazine that he knows this innuendo-filled track is unlikely to win any songwriting awards. "It's corny and goofy. If I had to describe it in one word, I would say ridiculous," he said. "I like songs like this because it is silly, but at the same time it feels good. It feels fun. Music is supposed to be a little lighter sometimes. 'Hee Haw' isn't going to win any Grammys for lyrical genius, but it will put you in a good mood and make you smile."
