Used To Love Her Lyrics

I Used To Love Her, but I had to kill her
I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I had to put her, six feet under, and I can still hear her complain

I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I knew I'd miss her, so I had to keep her
She's buried right in my back yard

I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I used to love her, but I had to kill her
She bitched so much. She drove me nuts, and now I'm happier this way
I used to love her, but I had to kill her, and I can still hear her complain

Used To Love Her
  • Axl Rose wrote the lyrics as a joke. It was rumored that the song is about his dog, with the story that he loved the pooch but had to have it put to sleep and then buried her in the backyard.
  • This song played a macabre role in a murder trial when it became evidence in the case against Justin Barber, a Florida man who was accused of killing his wife in 2002. At the trial, a forensic analyst testified that Barber had downloaded the song just hours before the murder (the song was found in the deleted files of Barber's hard drive). The tune was then played for the jury, with the lyrics displayed in the courtroom. Barber was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.

    Civil War Lyrics

Look at your young men fighting
    Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before

Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before

    My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our Civil Wars

    D'you wear a black armband
    When they shot the man
Who said "peace could last forever"
    And in my first memories
    They shot Kennedy
I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
    That you can't trust freedom
When it's not in your hands
    When everybody's fightin'
    For their promised land
    And

I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
    Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
    In a human grocery store
    Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
Ow, oh no, no, no, no, no

Look at the shoes you're filling
Look at the blood we're spilling
Look at the world we're killing
The way we've always done before
Look in the doubt we've wallowed
Look at the leaders we've followed
Look at the lies we've swallowed
And I don't want to hear no more

    My hands are tied
For all I've seen has changed my mind
But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights
'Cause all these dreams are swept aside
By bloody hands of the hypnotized
Who carry the cross of homicide
And history bears the scars of our civil wars

I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
    Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
    In a human grocery store
    Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
    Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
    In a human grocery store
    Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no uh-oh-uh, no uh-oh, uh no
I don't need one more war

I don't need one more war
No, no, no, no uh-oh-uh, no uh-oh, uh no
Whaz so civil 'bout war anyway?

    Civil War
  • This song is politically charged, and has an entire verse about President Kennedy's assassination. It also deals with the Vietnam War and the battle for civil rights in the US.
  • Slash (Saul Hudson), Duff (Michael McKagan) and W. Axl Rose wrote this for Use Your Illusion 2, which was released simultaneously with Use Your Illusion 1. The song originally appeared on the 1990 album Nobody's Child, a fundraising compilation for Romanian orphans.
  • On September 27, 1993, Duff explained where the song came from in an interview with the radio show Rockline: "Basically it was a riff that we would do at soundchecks. Axl came up with a couple of lines at the beginning. I went in a peace march, when I was a little kid, with my mom. I was like 4 years old. For Martin Luther King. And that's when: 'Did you wear the black arm band when they shot the man who said: 'Peace could last forever?' It's just true-life experiences, really.'"
  • The speech at the beginning of the song is from the movie Cool Hand Luke: "What we have here is a failure to communicate..."
  • Part of the American Civil War song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" is used at the beginning and end of the song, where it's whistled by Axl Rose.
  • The line, "Did you wear a black armband when they shot the man who said, 'Peace could last forever'" could be referring to the black hand's assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand that triggered World War I. It could also refer to the assassination of John Lennon, who strongly opposed the Vietnam War. The black armbands a sign of mourning, so the whole line asks whether we mourned for John Lennon as many others did at that time.
  • This was the only song on the Use Your Illusion albums that featured Steven Adler on drums. The rest were done by Matt Sorum , who replaced Adler in the band.
  • Guns N' Roses performed this at Farm Aid IV on April 7, 1990.

    Nightrain Lyrics

    Loaded like a freight train
    Flyin like an airplane
    Feelin like a space brain
    One more time tonight
Well I'm a west coast struttin'
    One bad mother
    Got a rattlesnake suitcase
    Under my arm
    Said I'm a mean machine
    Been drinkin' gasoline
And honey you can make my motor hum
    I got one chance left
    In a nine live cat
I got a dog eat dog sly smile
    I got a Molotov cocktail
    With a match to go
I smoke my cigarette with style
An I can tell you honey
You can make my money tonight

    Wake up late
    Honey put on your clothes
    Take your credit card
    To the liquor store
    That's one for you and
    Two for me by tonight
I'll be loaded like a freight train
    Flyin' like an aeroplane
    Feelin' like a space brain
    One more time tonight

    I'm on the Nightrain
    Bottoms up
    I'm on the nightrain
    Fill my cup
    I'm on the nightrain
    Ready to crash and burn
    I never learn
    I'm on the nightrain
    I love that stuff
    I'm on the nightrain
    I can never get enough
    I'm on the nightrain
    Never to return-no

    Loaded like a freight train
    Flyin' like an aeroplane
    Speedin' like a space brain
    One more time tonight
    I'm on the nightrain
    And I'm lookin' for some
    I'm on the nightrain
So's I can leave this slum
    I'm on the nightrain
And I'm ready to crash and burn

    Nightrain
    Bottoms up
    I'm on the nightrain
    Fill my cup
    I'm on the nightrain
    Whoa yeah
    I'm on the nightrain
    Love that stuff
    I'm on the nightrain
An I can never get enough
    Ridin' the nightrain
    I guess I
    I guess, I guess, I guess
    I never learn
    On the nightrain
    Float me home
    Ooh I'm on the nightrain
    Ridin' the nightrain

    Nightrain
  • Nightrain is a very cheap wine that Guns N' Roses drank a lot of while recording Appetite For Destruction. Its also the drink of choice for hobos and bums.
  • Axl Rose wrote this in 1985 when Guns N' Roses were living in Los Angeles and playing gigs on the Sunset Strip. The song is about how they were so reckless, crazy and poor that the only alcohol they could afford was the Nightrain. After every show they would get drunk and walk back home singing the lyrics to "Nightrain" until it finally came together.
  • At some shows in 1987, Axl Rose would give drinking tips from the stage. When introducing this song, he would sometimes say something like: "In these liquor stores that the winos hit up, right beside Thunderbird, you'll find the Nightrain. That'll f--k up you twice as bad as Thunderbird and it's a lot cheaper."

    Mr. Brownstone Lyrics

    I get up around seven
    Get outta bed around nine
And I don't worry about nothin' no
Cause worryin's a waste of my, time

The show usually starts around seven
We go on stage at nine
Get on the bus at eleven
Sippin' a drink and feelin' fine

    We been dancin' with
    Mr. Brownstone
    He's been knockin'
    He won't' leave me alone

I used ta do a little but a little wouldn't do
So the little got more and more
I just keep tryin' ta get a little better
Said a little better than before
I used ta do a little but a little wouldn't do
So the little got more and more
I just keep tryin' ta get a little better
Said a little better than before

    We been dancin' with
    Mr. Brownstone
    He's been knockin'
    He won't leave me alone

Now I get up around whenever
I used ta get up on time
But that old man he's a real muthafucker
Gonna kick him on down the line

    Mr. Brownstone
  • This song is about how heroin affected the band. Mr. Brownstone is likely to be their dealer. Brownstone isn't a common slang term for heroin, but it is brown, which is likely to be where the dealer got his name from. (thanks, Sterv - Donny, England)
  • Axl Rose's lyrics mention how the band would take heroin before performing at concerts. "The show usually starts around 7, we go on stage around 9" means they were two hours late for the show because of the drug. Later he sings: "Now I get up around whenever, I used to get up on time," meaning he doesn't care anymore about it, he's so obsessed with heroin.
  • At the end of the song in the lyrics: "Shoved it in the bindle and I shot it in the middle And it, it drove outta my mind I should've known better, said I wish I never met her, said I leave it all behind," A bindle is a "dimebag" full of heroin, he shot it in the middle, getting rid of it, and says he wished he never met her (her being heroin) and he just quit it cold turkey. (thanks, Matt - Woodstock, Canada, for above 2)
  • Velvet Revolver, which was formed by three former Guns N' Roses members, regularly played this at their shows.
  • While opening for The Rolling Stones at a show in Los Angeles on October 18th, 1989, Axl Rose said on stage: "Unless certain people in this band get their s--t together, these will be the last Guns N' Roses shows you'll f--king ever see. Cause I'm tired of too many people in this organization dancing with Mr. G--damn Brownstone." It apparently got the attention of his bandmates, as Slash, Izzy Stradlin and Steve Adler promised to clean up.
  • Axl Rose, on his reputation for starting shows late: "I pretty much follow my own internal clock, and I perform better later at night. Nothing seems to work out for me until later at night. And it is our show. I don't want to make people sit around and wait - it drives me nuts. That hour-and-a-half or two-hour time period that I'm late going onstage is living hell, because I'm wishing there was any way on earth I could get out of where I am and knowing I'm not going to be able to make it." One, two, one, two, three, four

Shed a tear 'cause I'm missin' you
    I'm still alright to smile
Girl, I think about you every day now
    Was a time when I wasn't sure
But you set my mind at ease
There is no doubt you're in my heart now

Said woman take it slow, and it'll work itself out fine
All we need is just a little Patience
Said sugar make it slow and we'll come together fine
All we need is just a little patience (Patience)
    Mm, yeah

I sit here on the stairs
    'Cause I'd rather be alone
If I can't have you right now, I'll wait dear
Sometimes I get so tense but I can't speed up the time
But you know love there's one more thing to consider

Said woman take it slow and things will be just fine
You and I'll just use a little patience
Said sugar take the time 'cause the lights are shining bright
You and I've got what it takes to make it
We won't fake it, I'll never break it
    'Cause I can't take it

Little patience, mm yeah, mm yeah
    Need a little patience, yeah
    Just a little patience, yeah
Some more patience, yeah (I've been walking the streets at night, just trying to get it right)
A little patience, yeah (Its hard to see with so many around
You know I don't like being stuck in the crowd)
Could use some patience, yeah (And the streets don't change but maybe the names)
(I ain't got time for the game 'cause I need you)
Gotta have more patience, yeah (Yeah, yeah but I need you)
All need some patience (Ooh I need you, whoa I need you)
Just a little patience is all you need (Ooh, this time, ah)

  • This song was a trendsetter in its use of all-acoustic instrumentation. This song made it safe for hard rockers to display their sensitive, vulnerable sides in a more understated way rather than utilizing the power ballad format.

    November Rain Lyrics

When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin' when I hold you
Don't you know I feel the same

    Nothin' lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
    In the cold November Rain

We've been through this such a long long time
Just tryin' to kill the pain, oo yeah
But love is always coming and love is always going
And no one's really sure who's lettin' go today
    Walking away

If we could take the time
To lay it on the line
    I could rest my head
Just knowin' that you were mine
    All mine
So if you want to love me
    Then darlin' don't refrain
Or I'll just end up walkin'
    In the cold November rain

Do you need some time on your own
Do you need some time all alone
    Everybody needs some time
    On their own
Don't you know you need some time all alone

I know it's hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn't time be out to charm you

Sometimes I need some time on my
    Own
Sometimes I need some time all alone
    Everybody needs some time
    On their own
Don't you know you need some time all alone

    And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain, oh yeah
I know that you can love me
When there's no one left to blame
    So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
    'Cause nothin' lasts forever
    Even cold November rain

Don't ya think that you need somebody
Don't ya think that you need someone
    Everybody needs somebody
    You're not the only one
    You're not the only one

Don't ya think that you need somebody

    November Rain
  • The lyrics and the video are based on a short story by Del James called Without You. The story is part of a collection called The Language Of Fear , which was brought back to market in 2008 after being out of print. The new version of the book contains an intro by Axl Rose, who wrote: "Del James has a personal knowledge of most of the situations he writes about, and has a love of the gutter from having been there." James contributed lyrics to two Guns N' Roses songs: "The Garden" and "Yesterdays," and has directed several music videos. (thanks, Dejaye - Wagga, Australia)
  • Written by Axl Rose, the original version of this song was 25-minutes long, and was edited down to 8:59. It is the longest ever Top 10 hit and contains the longest guitar solo in a Top 10 single.

Slash actually plays two guitar solos in the song. Rose put the song's lengthy gestation period down to opposition from Slash and Duff McKagan. (thanks, Joe - Boston, MA and Cole - Watertown, NY)
  • The video was directed by Andy Morahan, who had done the popular George Michael videos for "Father Figure" and "Faith," and worked with GnR on "Don't Cry" and "You Could Be Mine."

A huge production, the "November Rain" video cost over $1.5 million to make, but reaped rewards for the band, as it got a lot of play on MTV. It stars actress and model Stephanie Seymour, Axl Rose's girlfriend at the time. In the video, she and Axl get married with Slash serving as best man and the rest of the band in the front row. After the wedding, it starts raining and the next scene is Stephanie's funeral in the same church.
  • Slash (from Q magazine, July 2004): "We got into doing these huge production videos and by 'November Rain' it was too much, just too involved. At the end of the day it was a great video but that's when I started realizing that it was getting out of hand."
  • This won for best cinematography at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards, where it also received a Video Vanguard award. Guns N' Roses performed this at the end of the show with Elton John on piano.
  • The albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II were released simultaneously. This was a bold move, but the band was huge and the albums both sold very well. When they were released, Use Your Illusion II was the #1 album in the US, followed by Use Your Illusion I. The last time an artist had the top two albums at the same time was in 1974, when two Jim Croce albums held the top spots shortly after his death.
  • The album was released in September 1991, but this came out as a single in February 1992.
  • Shannon Hoon from the group Blind Melon sang backup. Hoon, who died of a drug overdose in 1995, grew up in Lafayette, Indiana near Axl Rose.
  • Matt Sorum replaced Steven Adler as GnR drummer in 1990. A former session drummer and bandmate of Tori Amos, his classical training helped bring a more classical sensibility to the band, which is best heard on this song. In our interview with Sorum , he explained that the drum pattern came together after they had been rehearsing the song, and Axl and Matt found themselves in the studio enjoying take-out from Greenblatt's Deli. Axl, a big Elton John fan, put on the song "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me," which gave Matt an idea.

"I said, 'God, listen to the tom toms on that,'" Matt recalls. "And Axl goes, 'Yeah, that's cool. So epic.' I go, 'What if I use that sort of a phrase as pieces of the song, almost like a melody that would work into the song structure.'"

Discussing the orchestral elements in the song, Matt explained: "I worked on the arrangements for those songs, the way they broke down and the dynamics. The band wasn't really that dynamic when I joined. It was a rock band, like 'Go for it.' Just loud. 'When we're on, it's loud.' And I came from an orchestral upbringing and classical music - I was in wind ensemble. I sounded crazy to them: 'We need pianissimo instrumental right here and mezzo forte right here.' And they'd go, 'What?!?'

Pianissimo means 'quiet.' And here we're doing mezzo forte. That means 'medium loud.' Now, we're going to go double forte here, which means, Okay, go back to your regular volume. I would explain all these sections to the band, and I said, 'This needs to be a journey, you need to take people on a journey to this song.' So that's what we did on 'November Rain.'"
  • Axl Rose was working on this as early as 1983. Former L.A. Guns guitarist Tracii Guns said: "When we were doing that EP for L.A. Guns, like in 1983, he was playing 'November Rain' on piano. Way back then. It was the only thing Axl knew how to play, but it was his. He'd go: 'Someday this song is gonna be really cool.' And I'd go: 'It's cool now. But it's not done, you know.' And like anytime we'd be at a hotel or anywhere there'd be a piano, he'd just kinda play that music. And I'd go: 'When are you gonna finish that already, you know?' And he'd go: 'I don't know what to do with it.'" (thanks, Rayan - Lincoln, England)
  • According to Matt Sorum, "November Rain," "Don't Cry" and "Estranged" were conceived as one song, and the three tracks form a trilogy of sorts. Sorum played the same drum fill throughout those three songs, and took some criticism for doing so - notably from former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy.

Sorum points out that this was intentional, a way of unifying the songs. "That was my part in tying enough songs together to make it one voice," he told us.
  • The outfit lead guitarist Slash is wearing in the music video for "November Rain" can be seen at the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando, Florida. (thanks, Anthony - Mesquite, TX)
  • Slash revealed in his autobiography that an early 18-minute version of the song was recorded at a session with Nazareth guitarist Manny Charlton in 1986, before the sessions for Appetite For Destruction began.
  • The guy who crashes through the wedding cake around the 7-minute mark of the video is Riki Rachtman, host of the MTV show Headbangers Ball. He and Axl Rose were friends.

    Sweet Child O' Mine Lyrics

She's got a smile it seems to me
    Reminds me of childhood memories
    Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I'd stare too long
I'd probably break down and cry

    Oh, oh, oh
    Sweet Child O' Mine
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Sweet love of mine

She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
    And pray for the thunder
    And the rain
    To quietly pass me by

    Oh, oh, oh
    Sweet child o' mine
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Sweet love of mine

    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Sweet child o' mine
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Sweet love of mine

    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Sweet child o' mine
    Oh,
    Sweet love of mine

    Where do we go?
    Where do we go now?
    Where do we go?
    Oh, oh
    Where do we go?
    Oh,
    Where do we go now?
    Where do we go?
    Oh, (sweet child)
    Where do we go now?
    Oh,
    Where do we go now?
    Oh,
    Where do we go?
    Oh,
    Where do we go now?
    Oh,
    Where do we go?
    Where do we go now?
    Where do we go?
    Oh,
    Where do we go now?
No, no, no, no, no, no
    Sweet child,
    Sweet child of mine.

Sweet Child O' Mine Song Chart
  • The lyrics came from a poem Axl Rose was working on. He wrote the song about his girlfriend, Erin Everly, who is the daughter of Don Everly of the Everly Brothers. They married in 1990 but divorced a month later.
  • Appetite For Destruction was Guns N' Roses first album, and it took a while for the band to catch on. This didn't hit US #1 until a year after the album was released. It was the third single, following "It's So Easy" and "Welcome To The Jungle," which both flopped, although "Welcome To The Jungle" became a hit when it was re-released in the wake of "Sweet Child"'s success.
  • Slash came up with the riff when he was playing around on his guitar. He thought it was silly and wanted nothing to do with it, but Axl loved it and had him keep playing it. Izzy Stradlin added some chords, and the song came together. According to Duff McKagan's 2012 autobiography, Slash always considered it the worst Guns N' Roses song.
  • Slash told Rolling Stone magazine: "It's a combination of influences. From Jeff Beck, Cream and Zeppelin to stuff you'd be surprised at: the solos in Manfred Mann's version of 'Blinded By The Light' and Gerry Rafferty's 'Baker Street.'" (thanks, Bertrand - Paris, France)
  • Axl listened to a bunch of Lynyrd Skynyrd songs before recording his vocal. He liked their down-home, genuine sound and wanted to duplicate it on this track.
  • This won Best Single, Heavy Metal/Hard Rock at the 1989 American Music Awards. The group performed "Patience" at the show with Don Henley sitting in on drums for an ailing Steven Alder.
  • In 1989, this won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Heavy Metal Video.
  • A third verse Axl wrote was edited out because the record company thought it made the song too long.
  • The song hit #1 in America on September 10, 1988, and stayed there for two weeks. While it was climbing to the top spot, Guns N' Roses was touring as the opening act for Aerosmith. By the end of the tour on September 15, G N' R had eclipsed their headliners in popularity and were chosen for the cover of Rolling Stone for their November 17 issue.

The tour went very well thanks to a ground rule Aerosmith set up: no drugs in their presence. The now-rehabbed Aerosmith could see Guns N' Roses heading down the same path of addiction, but made no effort to preach to them about the dangers, as they knew the Gunners would have to make their own mistakes. Aerosmith did, however, give T-shirts to the band listing the rehab centers they had been through instead of tour dates, which they felt was their statement.
  • In the video, a few moments before Slash's solo takes off, Axl can be seen taking off his jacket. Axl had so many bracelets on his arms, he had trouble getting his jacket off, which made them do a number of retakes. Axl stated in a 2006 radio interview with Eddie Trunk that, "the video they wanted to do for the song was supposed to be of an Asian woman carrying a baby into the United States. At the end of the video, the baby is cut open and there is heroin inside because that's what the song is about." (thanks, Jacob - Stockholm, Sweden)
  • This was remixed and re-released in England in May 1989, where it went to #6. When first released in August 1988, it made UK #24.
  • Sheryl Crow covered this in 1999 for the movie Big Daddy, scoring a #30 hit in England. Her version appears near the middle of the movie right after they take the kid away; the Guns N' Roses original is played at the end with the credits. (thanks, shelby - Westfield, IN)
  • The guitar solo is ranked #37 in Guitar World magazine reader's poll for the top 100 greatest guitar solos of all time (Slash's "November Rain" solo ranks #6). (thanks, Elliot - Toronto, Canada)
  • In an interview with Uncut magazine February 2008 Slash was asked where the weirdest place that he'd heard one of his songs was. He replied: "I've heard 'Paradise City' and 'Patience' in some odd places, but the weirdest thing is hearing Muzak versions of 'Sweet Child O' Mine' in elevators and shopping malls. I've even heard an arrangement of it for harp. Recently I was in a hotel and the lounge pianist was playing it. I get a mixture of emotions when that happens. Part of it is 'hey wow, that's our tune!,' part of it's embarrassment at even noticing it, part of it's bewilderment of somebody else playing your music, someone who knows nothing about you, who has never met you, who is just playing your music as part of a thousand pieces of material that they have to play. Imagine how, say, Paul McCartney must feel, hearing his music absolutely everywhere."
  • In 2008, the Recording Industry Association of America declared Appetite for Destruction the best selling debut album in the US with 18 million copies sold. The previous record holder was Boston.
  • This song featured near the end of the 2008 movie The Wrestler, when Mickey Rourke's character makes his entrance into the ring. Axl Rose, who is friends with Rourke, allowed the low-budget film to use the song for almost nothing, something Rourke thanked Axl for at the Golden Globe awards when he won for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama.
  • In 2009 a mellow jazz version by Taken By Trees, aka the Swedish singer Victoria Bergsman, reached the UK Top 40 thanks to its use in TV commercials for department store John Lewis.
  • The single version is about a minute shorter. The intro is cut down and the second solo, after the second verse, is removed. (thanks, Tom - Trowbridge, England)
  • The song revealed a sensitive side that Rose hadn't shown before and has done so sporadically since: "A lot of rock bands are too wimpy to have any sentiment or any emotion in any of their stuff unless they are in pain," said Rose at the time. "Sweet Child O' Mine is the first positive love song I've ever written, but I never had anyone to write anything about before."
  • This is the most covered song that Slash has ever written. He told UK's Metro newspaper: "There are some really good instrumental versions for the piano or violin, but I've been horrified by some muzak versions. I've been sitting in a doctor's office thinking, 'That sounds familiar,' and then realizing it's someone's interpretation of what I've written. That can be a creepy feeling."
  • Speaking with the radio station WEBN in Cincinnati, Ohio, Slash admitted that he isn't fond of this song apart from its riff. He explained: "You know, Guns N' Roses was always a real hardcore, sort of, AC/DC kind of hard rock band with a lot of attitude. If we did any kind of ballads, it was bluesy. This was an uptempo ballad. That's one of the gayest things you can write. But at the same time, it's a great song - I'm not knocking it - but at the time, it just did not fit in with the rest of our, sot of, schtick. And, of course, it would be the biggest hit we ever had."
  • Slash broke out the wah-wah pedal for his guitar solo, which landed at #3 on Guitar World's 2015 list of greatest wah solos of all time.

    It's So Easy Lyrics

I see your sister in her Sunday dress
    She's out to please
    She pouts her best
    She's out to take
    No need to try
    She's ready to make

    It's So Easy, easy
When everybody's tryin' to please me baby
    It's so easy, easy
When everybody's tryin' to please me

    Cars are crashin' every night
    I drink n' drive everything's in sight
    I make the fire
    But I miss the firefight
I hit the bull's eye every night

    It's so easy, easy
When everybody's tryin' to please me baby
    Yeah it's so easy, easy
When everybody's tryin' to please me
    So easy
But nothin' seems to please me
    It all fits so right
When I fade into the night
    See me hit you
    You fall down

    I see standin' there
    You think you're so cool
    Why don't you just
    Fuck off

    Ya get nothin' for nothin'
    If that's what ya do
Turn around bitch I got a use for you
Besides you ain't got nothin' better to do
    And I'm bored

    It's so easy, easy
When everybody's tryin' to please me baby
    It's so easy, easy
When everybody's tryin' to please me
    So easy
But nothin' seems to please me
    It all fits so right
When I fade into the night
    So come with me
Don't ask me where 'cause I don't know
    I'll try ta please you
I ain't got no money but it goes to show
    It's so easy
    So fucking easy
    It's so easy
    So damn easy
    It's so easy
    So fucking easy
    It's so easy
