Coming Home Lyrics

Do you wish you hadn't stayed all night?
Do you wish you hadn't gotten so high?
Do you wish you hadn't come? Oh no, gotta go

Do you wish you wasn't half past gone?
Do you wish you didn't last that long?
Do you wish you hadn't come? Oh no, gotta go, gotta run

May I remind you,
May I remind that you've got nowhere to go,
So I'm standing beside you,
Standing beside you 'til you find our way back home

We're Coming Home,
We're coming home,
Light a fire
We're coming home.
We'll write it down,
We'll write it all down

And we're dancing on the finest line,
Between the chance of the time of our lives,
Wishing you were done, oh no, gotta run

And we're choosing not to make that choice,
And we lose our shoes and voice,
But we have a lot of fun on the way, wanna play?
Gotta come!

May I remind you,
May I remind that you've got no where to go,
So I'm standing beside you,
I'm standing beside you 'til you find our way back home

We're coming home,
We're coming home,
Light a fire
We're coming home.
We'll write it down,
We'll write it all down

We're coming home,
We're coming home,
Light a fire
We're coming home.
We'll write it down,
We'll write it all down

Then it all comes flooding back to me,
Like a forgotten melody from a dream
Then it all comes flooding back to me,
Like a forgotten melody from a dream
Then it all comes flooding back to me,
Like a forgotten melody

We're coming home,
We're coming home,
Light a fire
We're coming home.
We'll write it down,
We'll write it all down

We're coming home,
We're coming home,
Light a fire
We're coming home.
We'll write it down,
We'll write it all down

  • This song is about how we vainly try to forget disappointment through short-lived hedonistic pursuits. It was first performed live by the Kaisers during their 2013 shows at London's Hyde Park and Leeds Arena.
  • The video was shot by James Slater (Mark Owen's "Stars," White Lies' "There Goes Our Love Again") in the Yorkshire Dales, not far from the band's hometown, It finds frontman Ricky Wilson strolling across the moors. The director told Promo News about the filming of the clip. "We shot the video in a jovially named place called Blubberhouses which is right on the southern cusp of the Yorkshire Dales, and not too far from where I'm from," he said. "Its also just up the road from where the band hail. I think we all just hankered after a bit of home cooking."

"I've never shot in Yorkshire before, I should do it more often," he continued. "The landscapes are great and as soon as DOP Jonathan Isles put the anamorphic lens on, it looked like a Western setting (if you ignore the rain, the wind, the grey skies and the lack of desert and Cacti)."

"The strip of land we shot on leant itself well to the one shot idea," Slater continued, "and thanks to the fantastic cast, crew (who all seemed to know each other from Heartbeat) and a really strong performance from Ricky, we had the take we needed after about ten attempts."

    Breña Lyrics

    My reflection
    Wraps and pulls me under
    healing waters to be
    Bathed in Brena

    Guides me
    Safely in
    Worlds I've never been to
    Heal me
    Heal me
    My dear Brena

    So vulnerable
    But it's alright

    Heal me
    Heal me
    My dear Brena

    Show me lonely and
    Show me openings
To lead me closer to you
    My dear Brena

    (Feeling so) vulnerable
    But it's alright

    Opening to... heal...
    Opening to... heal...
    Heal.. Heal.. Heal...

  • Vocalist and guitarist Stephen Battelle wrote this song after watching Les Misérables in the cinema. He told Kerrang!: "Due to me writing the song in my head on the way home, I wasn't able to perform it on a conventional instrument. I had a cocktail, and while sitting there I dreamt that I had a guitar with the width of a single string penetrating the body. I made a quick call to guitar luthier Nigel Roberts, and six weeks later 'The Penetrator' was born. Basically, I had a guitar built that can only be used for one song, but when a riff's that good it's worth the effort."
  • The band made the decision to pay tribute to the guitar greats of the last century on this song so it became 'The History Of The Guitar.' Batelle explained: "Using nine guitars, each passage and each riff was played on the guitar synonymous with that player – Hank Marvin on a Strat, Jimmy Page on a Les Paul, Brian May on a Brian May copy (obviously) and BB King on a Lucille."

    3 Libras Lyrics

Threw you the obvious and you flew with it on your back a name
In your recollection down among a million same
    Difficult not to feel
a little bit disappointed and passed over
when I've looked right through to see you
    naked but oblivious
    and you don't see me

But I threw you the obvious just to see
If there's more behind the eyes of a fallen angel
    eyes of a tragedy

Here I am expecting just a little bit too much
From the wounded but I see through it all and see you

'Cause I threw you the obvious to see what occurs behind the
    eyes of a fallen angel
    Eyes of a tragedy
oh well, oh well apparently nothing
    apparently nothing at all

You don't, you don't, you don't see me
You don't, you don't, you don't see me
You don't, you don't, you don't see me
You don't, you don't, you don't see me

  • Maynard James Keenan, in the A Perfect Circle EPK stated, "It's about being overlooked."
  • In the liner notes to the single, Keenan said: "Up until the mid twentieth century the mountain gorilla was considered a myth. Oddly enough, a legend not unlike Bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster. The chance of actually seeing/experiencing this elusive shadow was as likely as finding one's soulmate. Rare. Precious. Even once discovered they seemed unapproachable. The only way to get close to this magnificent creature was to become empathetic. Abandon all pretense and preconceptions. To bare an open throat. To collapse into the arms of vulnerability. All but extinct, these beings/moments are threatened by the black hearted. The cold and oblivious. The empty eyed profit seekers that overlook these Rare. Precious." (thanks, Chrissy - Vancouver, Canada, for above 2)
  • Keenan shed some more light on this song in their aMotion DVD, where he explained that this is a song about parasitic-like people seeing something different or special about a person. Instead of nurturing that quality or helping that person grow, the "3 Libras" feed off of the energy in a bad way instead of using it for good.
  • On aMotion, Keenan also mentioned that he wrote the song for about 9 or so people in his life that have birthdays around the same time, hence the name "3 Libras." He titled it so the people with the Libran birthdays could battle it out to figure who he wrote the song about. (thanks, Stephanie - Grants Pass, OR, for above 2)

    The General Lyrics

    The General
  • This song tells a story about a brilliant and battle-torn general who has a dream in which he realizes the futility of war. He then attempts to persuade his men that they do not have to participate in the battle, but that he would fulfill the job he had sworn to do. He wants them to leave and live a full life, but none of his men will leave him. (thanks, Jim - Pittsburgh, PA)
  • Dispatch's vocalist and guitarist, Chad Urmston, told us that this song is even more relevant now than it was in 1998: "It's more relevant today than it was when I wrote it. I've always been fascinated by war and been lucky enough not to have the hands in experience. But I can understand that it must be hell and that there's also a deep sense of brother/sisterhood that is unique to that experience." (Here's our full Chad Urmston interview.)
  • Urmston told us this song was inspired by "a summer of playing Hendrix's "Castles Made of Sand† constantly."
  • In The Best of Dispatch, Chad Urmston explains: "This was our anti-war song. Although it was primarily based on the Civil War, the message was not confined to that particular conflict. We were too young to be directly involved in the Gulf War; nevertheless, the sense of a troubled history rings loud in the heads of young men who grow up listening to grandfathers or fathers recount war stories. The crowd response to this song always blew us away. Some said it had a 'Castles Made of Sand' feel - any reference to Hendrix we took gladly. We recorded the song up in the northeast kingdom on borrowed instruments. Our hazy-eyed hairball engineer swayed like a derelict wrecking ball over the console like a played-out carnie with nothing to show for a lifetime of swindling. His down-to-the-filter cigarette wandered listlessly with a skeletal droop of ash as he leaned on his crippled office chair teasing gravity. He ended up giving in to his heavy eyes and passing out on the couch with his feet up, still holding the cigarette as Brad and I took turns pressing the 'record' and 'locate' buttons." In the Basement, down in the basement,
Oh where can you go when your money gets low?
In the basement, down in the basement

In the basement, down in the basement,

Where can you dance to any music you choose?
In the basement, down in the basement
Oh, you got the comforts of home, a nightclub too.

  • Martina McBride and Kelly Clarkson combined in their first-ever studio duet together, to cover a 1966 Etta James pair-up with Sugar Pie DeSanto. McBride told Billboard magazine about this hookup with the American Idol alumna. "I wanted to do a song that was a little bit unexpected for us," she said. "I think people would expect the two of us to get together and do this big ballad, but I found this song, and thought it was so much fun. It fits her personality, and it has a lot of fun energy and is very vivacious. So, we recorded it together, and I think it turned out great."

Clarkson and McBride previously sang live together in 2006 when they honored Reba McEntire on CMT Giants, performing "Does He Love You."
  • This is probably the least known of the covers that McBride recorded for her Everlasting album. "I wasn't super familiar with it, to be honest," she told Billboard magazine. "I discovered it along the way. That's one of the great things about this record – I discovered a lot of music while listening to thousands of songs. That was a really great process for me too."
  • Everlasting was released on McBride's own Vinyl Recordings label through Kobalt Label Services. It spent its first week at #1 on the Country chart, a history making feat for Martina McBride as she became the first woman ever to debut at #1 with an independently released and distributed album.

Monty Python - The Spam Song Lyrics and Youtube Music Videos

    Album: Sings
    Released: 1991

    The Spam Song Lyrics

    The Spam Song
  • Spam is a brand name of luncheon meat. It's name is a contraction of the words "spiced ham." Years later, the term "Spam" was used to describe junk e-mail.
  • This song first appeared on the the 25th episode of the TV show Monty Python's Flying Circus, which was titled, appropriately enough, "Spam." On the show, a group of Vikings attempt to sing this song while Eric Idle and Graham Chapman (in drag) are ordering breakfast from Terry Jones, who recites the menu on which almost everything contains some spam. Terry Jones silences the Vikings until the end of the sketch, until he gives in and they sing the full version. (thanks, Connor - Stonington, CT)
  • Assisting the group on background vocals were The Fred Tomlinson Singers. This group worked with Monty Python on several other songs as well.
  • The group was known more for their comedy than for their music. All of their movies, however, featured music written by members of the band. Members of the group were: Eric Idle, John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, Michael Palin, and Terry Gilliam.
  • There are only three different words in this song. In alphabetical order these are: Lovely, Spam, and Wonderful. (thanks, Jeff - Haltom City, TX, for all above)

    Album: A Perfect Contradiction
    Released: 2014

Only Love Can Hurt Like This Lyrics

Only Love Can Hurt Like This
  • This big ballad was penned by American songwriter Dianne Warren, who has previously written hits for the likes of Cher ("If I Could Turn Back Time") and Aerosmith ("I Don't Want to Miss a Thing").
  • This is one of several tracks on A Perfect Contradiction that find Faith singing about the dark side of love. "I do think I'm a tragic romantic," she told The Metro. "Actually, the benchmark was Candi Staton's 'Young Hearts Run Free,' that kind of song where you acknowledge hardship or sadness but you inject hope into it."

"When it comes on at a party, everyone just thinks: 'Yeah, some hard things have happened, I'm often my own worst enemy – but screw it, let's dance,'" she added.
  • Having trouble playing along to this song? That's because it was recorded slightly out of tune. Whether on purpose or by mistake is unknown, but Sound on Sound suggests it may be the result of fooling around with the playback rate at the end of production to adjust the tempo. While certain software can do the job without affecting the pitch, it can also produce an unwanted warbling sound.

  • It's likely that this is about going through life's path: "We face the path of time," and believing things that aren't true at some point of our lives: "We chase misprinted lies." It is also saying that at one point or another, you could wind up without any friends: "And yet I fight, and yet I fight this battle all alone. No one to cry to, no place to call home." It's the Not Knowing Lyrics

It's not that you might leave me lonely
I know I could cope if your heart became a ghost
I know what to do when I'm on my own
It's the Not Knowing, that hurts, the most

It's not that if you told me you met someone better
Or if you had to break a promise, break an oath
If you prefer to feel some other's touch
It's the not knowing, that hurts, the most

In your silence, I sense a thousand words
Your eyes are sad but you still smile
You're right beside me, but are you even here

It's the not knowing, that hurts, the most
It's the not knowing, that hurts, the most

I'm sure you meant all that you said, at the time
I believe you can't be made of stone
We both know it's OK to change your mind
It's just the not knowing, that hurts, the most

In your silence, I sense a thousand words
Your eyes are sad but you still smile
You're right beside me, but are you even here

It's just the not knowing, that hurts, the most

I can tell, your head is somewhere else
I can read the signs that I need help
I can take your truth, tell me
    Tell me what I know
    Don't be a coward boy
Let me free just, let me go

We haven't said it but I know it
So hold me one last time before you go
You gave me so much to remember, baby

And I'll sing the blues if I want

I'm free to say whatever I
    Whatever I like
If it's wrong or right it's alright

    Always seems to me
You only see what people want you to see

    And cause no fuss
    Get a grip on yourself
    It don't cost much

    Free to be whatever you
    Whatever you say
If it comes my way it's alright

You're free to be wherever you

    Whatever
  • This was released as a single and was not was available on any album apart from the Australian release of Definitely Maybe, which contained an extra disc included with the song. The single was released around Christmas 1994, and got them their highest chart entry to that date.
  • The first line: "I'm free to be whatever I, whatever I like if it's wrong or right it's all right," was written by Noel Gallagher about how his dad used to make him work on a building site with him as a teenager. Noel's dad tried to force him to become a builder. (thanks, Nick - southampton, England, for above 2)
  • In the US, this was released as a bonus track on the album. In France, Definitely Maybe was released with a bonus edition CD featuring this track. (thanks, Bertrand - Paris, France)
  • The strings were arranged by Nick Ingham and Noel Gallagher and were played by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, which featured former ELO violinist Wilf Gibson.
  • The song has spent a total of 51 weeks on the UK Singles chart to date, more than any Oasis single. This included a re-entry for one week on June 20, 2010 at #64 due to the release of the Oasis singles compilation Time Flies... 1994–2009 - the first time that "Whatever" has been available to purchase digitally.
  • Part of the song's melody was borrowed from Neil Innes' 1973 song "How Sweet to Be an Idiot." Innes successfully sued Oasis for plagiarism and as a result now receives royalties and a co-writing credit. As a certain Alanis Morissette song goes this was ironic, because Innes is famed for his parodies of The Beatles in The Rutles, and has had to share songwriting credits and royalties with Lennon and McCartney.
  • The band knew this song was a hit as soon as Noel Gallagher first played it to them. Rhythm Guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs recalled to Q magazine in 2011: "Noel had shown us Whatever very early on and it freaked my head out. It was like, 'Nah you haven't f---ing written that.' It was brilliant."
