The Fox Lyrics

Being wiry and thinking loudly
About the things sent to make you move
You can't help it, there's no one in the world
Knows you just, just the way you do
So we keep darting through the holes
As the hunter and The Fox
Run the gauntlet's savage road

Winter's heavy and partly cloudy
And the snowfall leaves the tracks that catch a few
Bit if you're wiley, you will leave them lying
Snared up in the traps that they set for you
And it's an evergreen affair
As temptation taunts the fox
Into the hunter's waiting lair

And for mile after mile you'll never see me tire
You'll never see me slow down, for a while
Cause I am the fox, like it or not
I'm always gonna be there running over the rock
Yes I am the fox, a fascinating cross
Of sharp as a whip and tough as an ox
Yes I am the fox

It may sound crazy but it's often lonely
And the restless heart should be captured once in a while
Then you can use them, and you often fool them
Into believing whatever you desire
So I'll keep moving through the night
The hunter and the hunted
On their designated flights

The Fox
  • Elton is "The Fox." He wrote it about how he ignores the American critics who do nothing but badmouth his music. Hence: "I'm always gonna be there running over the rocks"; Elton won't quit music just because some critics told him to.

    It Should Be Easy Lyrics

    I've been thinking
    Just sitting thinking
    On why I love you
    And all my reasons
    And if I lost you
    Boy, if I lost you
    I'd lose myself
And I wouldn't feel the way I feel now

    You bring me sin
    Yes, you bring me sin
You make me feel like a million, billion
    I'll let you in
But don't you break my heart
    Don't you rip me apart
No, don't you rip me apart

Baby, love, It Should Be Easy
    It shouldn't be complicated
    It should be easy
I don't know how else to say it

    (You don't know how to)

    I've got visions
Boy, I've got visions of me and you
    Happily just living
    Now go there out there
    Them beautiful men
    But you my future
    Baby, you my right now
If there was a scale from 1 to 10
Then my love for you is a million, billion
Boy, I'll love you till the day I'm dead
So please, don't mess with my head
Please, don't mess with my head

Baby, love, it should be easy
    It shouldn't be complicated
    It should be easy
I don't know how else to say it

    (You don't know how to)

    La da di
    La di da
It's the only way to love
    La da di
    La di da
It's the only way to love (To love)

I don't know how, baby love, it should be easy
    It shouldn't be complicated
    It should be easy
I don't know how else to say it

    It Should Be Easy
  • This EDM-driven song finds Spears duetting with will.i.am as she sings in a robotized voice of her idea of a perfect love. The pair had previously collaborated on "Big Fat Bass" from Britney's Femme Fatale album and will.i.am's single, "Scream & Shout." Will was Britney Jean's executive producer and he recalled to Ryan Seacrest how the pair sat and chatted for hours before laying down any tracks, before taking took the things Britney had said and turning them into lyrics. "We had lunch and we just had - I was on a cleanse that day, so I had tea and soup - and we just talked. We had like six talking sessions before we even recorded," he explained. "I've been a fan of Britney since the beginning, but the thing that made me a fan, was Toxic. I was jealous when I heard that song Toxic!"
  • French EDM hitmaker David Guetta, frequent Akon collaborator Giorgio Tuinfort, Dutch house producer Nicky Romero and newcomer Marcus van Wattum all had a hand in the song's production, along with will.i.am.
  • According to Britney, the message of the song is: "Sometimes, we make love really complicated, but I've always felt it should be easy."

Little James, we're all the same
They always seem to look to us
But we weren't meant to be grown ups
    Thank you for your smile
You make it all worthwhile to us

You live for your toys, even though they make noise
Have you ever played with plastercine
    Or even tried a trampoline
    Thank you for your smile
You make it all worthwhile to us

I'm singing this song for you and your mum that's all
'cause it won't be long before everyone is gone

Sailed out to sea, your mum you and me
You swam the ocean like a child
Life around us was so wild
    Thank you for your smile

    You been on my mind
I been tryna let it go
    I been tryna find
    Somethin' as incredible
    As you and I
    But that's a never no
    Feeling can't compare to you
You just gotta let me know

    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?

    You stay on the grind
    I'm always available
    Rollin' in my ride
So I gotta take it slow
    You got me so high
Up, up and away we go
    Racing to the sky
    I'm feeling unfadable
    'Cause The Vapors
    Can save us
    And take us
    And make us believe
    That we are free
    We can be free
    So can I please

    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?

    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?

Please don't rain on my parade
    The falling from the sky
Just remind of the days when you was crying for attention
I ignored it as a phase until you couldn't
    Take the tension
Now I wish you would have stayed
Walking through the smoke and mirrors
    I'm burdened, you burning bridges
Memories fading, faded it help you to not remember
    The trials and tribulations
    Eyes red from crying
The perfect way to disguise it you was
    Blinded by our fate
Please don't rain on my parade because this
    Float was built for you
Kinda hard to chase you down when you
    Floating through the room
All you wanted was the truth and all I wanted was my way
Regardless how I word the phrase all you
    Hear me say is

    Can I hit it again?
    Can I hit it again?

    The Vapors
  • This was inspired by a G Pen Vaporizer that Aizo bought for smoking weed. She explained to Artist Direct : "The song started out with me talking about a guy and how I couldn't stop thinking about him. I was also writing the song while I was under the influence of this G Pen. For me, vaporizers give you a cleaner high. It's in small doses so it's not like you're out of this world, but they make you feel a certain way. I wanted it to be a double entendre."

"That was one of my favorite songs to write," Aiko continued. "I wanted to convey my feelings of how 'The Vapors' make me feel. Keep in mind it could be about a guy also. I wanted it to represent how I felt about both without compromising or lying about the other. If you take it as I'm talking about vaping weed or talking about a guy, it makes sense in both cases."

    Fitter Happier Lyrics

    Fitter, happier, more productive,
    comfortable,
    not drinking too much,
    regular exercise at the gym
    (3 days a week),
getting on better with your associate employee contemporaries ,
    at ease,
    eating well
(no more microwave dinners and saturated fats),
    a patient better driver,
    a safer car
    (baby smiling in back seat),
    sleeping well
    (no bad dreams),
    no paranoia,
    careful to all animals
(never washing spiders down the plughole),
keep in contact with old friends
(enjoy a drink now and then),
    will frequently check credit at
(moral) bank (hole in the wall),
    favors for favors,
    fond but not in love,
    charity standing orders,
    on Sundays ring road supermarket
(no killing moths or putting boiling water on the ants),
    car wash
    (also on Sundays),
no longer afraid of the dark or midday shadows
nothing so ridiculously teenage and desperate,
nothing so childish - at a better pace,
    slower and more calculated,
    no chance of escape,
    now self-employed,
    concerned (but powerless),
an empowered and informed member of society
    (pragmatism not idealism),
    will not cry in public,
    less chance of illness,
tires that grip in the wet
(shot of baby strapped in back seat),
    a good memory,
still cries at a good film,
    still kisses with saliva,
    no longer empty and frantic
    like a cat
    tied to a stick,
    that's driven into
    frozen winter xxxx
(the ability to laugh at weakness),
    calm,
    fitter,
    healthier and more productive
    a pig
    in a cage
    on antibiotics.

    Fitter Happier
  • This less-than-two-minute insert is a long commentary on life and how artificial it has become. It is spoken in a metallic voice and it is not listed as a song on the album, although it is right next to "Karma Police" in small letters on the back. The voice was generated by the Macintosh computer SimpleText application.
  • In an interview with Guitar World magazine, Yorke described the song as a checklist of slogans for the '90s, which he called "the most upsetting thing I've ever written."
  • This song, known for its computerized voice, is musically a hybrid of a score composed by Jonny Greenwood, and a piano part written by Thom Yorke (and recorded while drunk).
  • Thom Yorke (from Humo magazine July 22, 1997): "I had writer's block for 3 months. In that period I could only make lists of words. It took me a long time to figure out that the only way I could translate my thoughts was with these lists." Yorke added in the same interview that he wasn't standing behind the lyrics any more as "sometimes your ideas get entangled with other ideas and then you have to apologize for the original idea because it doesn't make sense any more. That's what happened with 'Fitter Happier.' Now, I listen to the piano part."
  • This was featured in printed form in adverts promoting the album, prompting Ed O'Brien to comment, "I think that some people really believe that message and think that we are some kind of health-freaks."
  • During Radiohead's 1997 tour this song was used to introduce the band on stage. Previously they had used pieces from French minimalist composer Olivier Messiaen.
  • The sample loop in the background of the song says: "This is the Panic Office, section nine-seventeen may have been hit. Activate the following procedure."

  • This song started off with a CD of beats given to her by Aiko's record label boss, producer No I.D. One of the instrumentals especially spoke to her. She told Artist Direct : "That's how I write. I will just write around his track and wait until I start saying or singing something along."

"I couldn't write anything to it," Aiko continued. "I was like, 'I love this track so far' so I went into the studio and just freestyle-d it. I was really going through it. I had just went through this heartbreak. I really felt like I wanted to tell that story. It was a freestyle."

  • Lead singer Bert McCracken wrote this about his addictions to cocaine and methamphetamines. Growing up in Utah, McCracken was raised in the Mormon community, but left home and turned to drugs. The Used bassist Jeph Howard said in our 2012 interview that McCracken "has had a pretty hard life, which he made for himself, in a way." He adds that McCracken is still struggling with the addictions he sings about in "Choke Me," and believes that "once you're an addict, you're an addict for the rest of your life" and that "you have to keep yourself in check in constant times and in constant areas." (Here's the full interview with Jeph .)
  • This is a bonus track found in their first album after the last track. Sit and wait or fast foward and you'll hear someone singing "Happy Birthday" to Bert. After that it goes right into this.

Ooh, is it ever gonna be?
If you’re with it, then I’m with it, now
    To accept all the responsibility
I’d go out of my way

    Change me, change me

    Don’t fight fire with fire
    If I’m screaming, talk quieter
    Understanding and patience

    Change Me
  • This piano ballad was the ninth song to be unveiled by Justin from his Music Mondays series. It finds him wanting to right the wrongs in a relationship that is slipping away as he pleads for "understanding and patience." Justin admits that he needs to change to make it work. The song was released at midnight on Monday December 2, 2013. "Tonight''s song is very personal," Justin tweeted.
  • The song was co-written by Bieber himself in collaboration with:

Andre Harris, who is one half of the songwriting and production duo Dre & Vidal. The pair have produced a number of successful hits, including Michael Jackson's "Butterflies," Ciara's "Oh" and Chris Brown's "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)." Harris also contributed to Justin's Music Mondays tracks "All That Matters" and "All Bad."

Jason "Poo Bear" Boyd, who has contributed to most of the songs in the Justin's Music Mondays series. At the the prime age of 14, Poo Bear co wrote his first hit single for R'n'B group 112 titled, "Anywhere." This began a catalog of songs written for a multitude of artists including The Rolling Stones, Whitney Houston, Pink and Usher. He co-penned multiple songs for the latter's Confessions album, including the single "Caught Up," for which Poo Bear won two Grammys.
  • Justin teamed up with Poo Bear to help him refine his teen songs to a more sophisticated R&B sound. "We have a great relationship," Poo Bear noted to Examiner.com . "It was all organic and natural, nobody put me with him and nobody put him with me. I met him at a birthday party and we just clicked. We're very similar in a lot of ways and that's why it feels so right because it wasn't contrived, it happened naturally."

Your body may be gone, I'm gonna carry you in.
In my head, in my heart, in my soul.
And maybe we'll get lucky and we'll both live again.
    Well I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Don't think so.

Well that is that and this is this.
You tell me what you want and I'll tell you what you get.
You get away from me. You get away from me.
Collected my belongings and I left the jail.
Well thanks for the time, I needed to think a spell.
I had to think awhile. I had to think awhile.

The Ocean Breathes Salty, won't you carry it in?
In your head, in your mouth, in your soul.
And maybe we'll get lucky and we'll both grow old.
    Well I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I hope so.

Well that is that and this is this.
You tell me what you want and I'll tell you what you get.
You get away from me. (You get away from me) You get away from me.
Collected my belongings and I left the jail.
Well thanks for the time, I needed to think a spell.
I had to think awhile. (I had to think awhile) I had to think awhile.

Well that is that and this is this.
Will you tell me what you saw and I'll tell you what you missed,
when the ocean met the sky. (You missed, you missed)
You missed when time and life shook hands and said goodbye. (You missed)
When the earth folded in on itself. (You missed)
And said "Good luck, for your sake I hope heaven and hell (You missed, you missed)
are really there, but I wouldn't hold my breath." (You missed, you missed)
You wasted life, why wouldn't you waste death? (You missed, you missed)
You wasted life, why wouldn't you waste death?

The ocean breathes salty, won't you carry it in?
In your head, in your mouth, in your soul.
The more we move ahead the more we're stuck in rewind.
Well I don't mind. I don't mind. How the hell could I mind?

Well that is that and this is this.
You tell me what you want and I'll tell you what you get.
You get away from me. (You get away from me) You get away from me.

Well that is that and this is this.
Will you tell me what you saw and I'll tell you what you missed,

    1972
Daddy drove in over, it was sky blue
He worked at a record store after school
Call it sympathy for the vinyl

    1972
Turntable in the basement, Major Cool
A hippie girl, couple cold beers split in two
You got your own rock n roll revival

Girl you know they didn’t ride
    So come on over tonight

I’m gonna rock you like Zeppelin, roll you like the stones
Burr like them speakers in my old headphones
Gonna fly like an eagle when I drop a needle on the blues
I’m gonna get the metal piece down from the attic
With a pop and a hiss and a little bit of static
We’ll be chillin' like a villain on some Dylan while we’re killin' some booze
We’re gonna kick it like the kids did in 1972

So will it just be me and you
Playing air drums with The Who’s Keith Moon
You know them good ones always die too soon
    Like Jimmy, Jim and Joplin

    Yea, kickin back, cutting loose
Sippin on Jack, that’s what we do
It don’t matter baby girl cus in a few
You’re gonna hear heaven a knockin

    Look out!

I’m gonna rock you like Zeppelin, roll you like the stones
Burr like them speakers in my old headphones
Gonna fly like an eagle when I drop a needle on the blues
I’m gonna get the metal piece down from the attic

"It's got a cool Stones-y kind of feel to it. It's a southern rock kind of thing, and I love all the throwback references to Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison, and 'Daddy drove a Nova that was sky blue.' There's just a cool groove to it."
