Heretic

This was the first song that Avenged Sevenfold wrote for Hail to the King, hence it being a throwback to band's traditional sound. Guitarist Synyster Gates told MusicRadar.com : "It's a little progressive, but we wanted to maintain some space in the arrangement so the drums could shine and the riffs and vocals could breathe."

He added: "This is a lot of guitar, though, some big moments. If you're not the biggest groove fan – and it you're not, you should be – there's still a progressive element. So it's a mix, this song, and it worked out really well."

Vocalist M. Shadows is singing here about religious fanaticism and witch hunts. He explained to Kerrang! magazine: "To me, this is about the Salem Witch Trials. It's about the West Memphis Three. It's about being put in jail for life for the clothes you wear and because you have long hair. And it's all based on religion and fantasy, when no-one can just look at the facts for what they are, because they're completely clouded by their love of their religious beliefs. That song is a step back to say, 'You don't have to be at someone's door, ready to burn them without giving them a chance to explain themselves."

Guitarist Synyster Gates explained to MusicRadar.com : "It's about a meteoric, intergalactic war that results in an apocalypse and the human species aligning together to go fight something much better than us, our individual trials and tribulations."

Gates added: "Musically, the song was incredibly difficult to write and pull off – the elements of dissonance, tension and resolution. We wanted to have that friction throughout, but it still had to be palatable; it couldn't be like listening to Penderecki or Stockhausen. There had to be a relatability and connectability to it."

The song title stands for "Mom I Like to F--k". No one has nailed down the origin of the acronym but it was popularized by Jennifer Coolidge's character, "Stifler's Mom" in the hit movie series American Pie.

Big Sean recruited Nicki Minaj and Juicy J for this Da Internz produced slinky ode to MILFs. He explained at the album's listening party that his aim was to recreate the fun of his hit stripper anthem "Dance (A$$)," even re-using its signature handclaps.

This is the title track of Blue October's seventh studio album, Sway. It was recorded at Fire Station Studio in San Marcos, Texas with co-producer David Castell in February and March 2013. The band's previous record, 2011's Any Man In America, was dark and moody, having been heavily influenced by frontman Justin Furstenfeld's failed marriage and custody battle for his daughter. Sway, on the other hand, reflects the singer-guitarist's more upbeat state of mind. He explained to MusicRadar.com that the overall theme of the album is about "the light at the end of the tunnel."

Furstenfeld added: "You only have so much time on this earth, so you need to live it up and be proactive with your life. Whether it's depression or whatever it is you're going through, there has to be a solution to the problem. And if there isn't a solution, then what are we here for? The only reasons why we're here are to be happy, joyous and free."
