Ain't It Funny Lyrics

Estoy loca
Enamorada, de ti

It seemed to be like the perfect thing for you and me
It's so ironic you're what I had pictured you to be
But there are facts in our lives
We can never change
Just tell me that you understand and feel the same
This perfect romance that I've created in my mind
I'd live a thousand lives
Each one with you right by my side
But yet we find ourselves in a less than perfect circumstance
And so it seems like we'll never have the chance

Ain't It Funny how some feelings you just can't deny (Oh)
And you can't move on even though you try (Oh)
Ain't it strange when you're feeling things you shouldn't feel
Oh, I wish this could be real
Ain't it funny how a moment could just change your life (Oh)
And you don't want to face what's wrong or right (No)
Ain't it strange how fate can play a part
In the story of your heart

Sometimes I think that a true love can never be
I just believe that somehow it wasn't meant for me
Life can be cruel in a way that I can't explain
And I don't think that I could face it all again
I barely know you but somehow I know what you're about
A deeper love I've found in you
And I no longer doubt
You've touched my heart and it altered every plan I've made
And now I feel that I don't have to be afraid

Ain't it funny how some feelings you just can't deny (Oh)
And you can't move on even though you try (Oh)
Ain't it strange when you're feeling things you shouldn't feel
Oh, I wish this could be real
Ain't it funny how a moment could just change your life (Oh)
And you don't want to face what's wrong or right (No)
Ain't it strange how fate can play a part
In the story of your heart

I locked away my heart
But you just set it free
Emotions I felt
Held me back from what my life should be
I pushed you far away
And yet you stayed with me
I guess this means
That you and me were meant to be

Oh

Ain't it funny how some feelings you just can't deny
And you can't move on even though you try
Ain't it strange when you're feeling things you shouldn't feel
Oh, I wish this could be real, oh yeah, oh yeah
Ain't it funny how a moment could just change your life
And you don't want to face what's wrong or right, no no
Ain't it strange how fate can play a part
In the story of your heart, oh yeah

Ain't it funny how some feelings you just can't deny (Funny)
And you can't move on even though you try (Even if you try)
Ain't it strange when you're feeling things you shouldn't feel
Baby, ain't it funny how
Ain't it funny how a moment could just change your life (Change your life)
And you don't want to face what's wrong or right (Wrong or right)
Ain't it strange how fate can play a part
Baby, ain't it funny how

Ain't it funny how some feelings you just can't deny (Can't deny)
And you can't move on even though you try (though you try)
Ain't it strange when you're feeling things you shouldn't feel (baby)
Ain't it funny how a moment could just change your life
And you don't want to face what's wrong or right
Ain't it's strange how fate can play a part

Ain't it funny how some feelings you just can't deny
And you can't move on even though you try
Ain't it strange when you're feeling things you shouldn't feel
Ain't it funny how a moment could just change your life
And you don't want to face what's wrong or right
Ain't it strange how fate can play a part

Ain't It Funny
  • This was co-written by Jennifer Lopez and Cory Rooney for the 2001 Adam Shankman-directed romantic comedy The Wedding Planner. Cory Rooney recalled to Songwriter Universe : "Jennifer and I were in Canada, and we wanted to write a song [which was originally intended] for her movie, The Wedding Planner. The music popped in my head, and I went home and worked on the track. Then I sat with Jennifer and we banged out the song."

"Tommy (Mottola) was even involved with writing the song," Rooney added. "He was so enthusiastic about the track, that he contributed melody ideas to the song."
  • Adam Shankman felt that the song had too much of a Latin influence to be featured in The Wedding Singer. However, the song was included on Lopez's second studio album J.Lo. Released as its third single on June 20, 2001, it was a commercial success, peaking within the top ten in multiple countries, though it didn't originally chart on the Hot 100.
  • Sales of the song were boosted by a remix by Irv Gotti and 7 with additional vocals from Ja Rule and Caddillac Tah. The remix peaked at #1 on the Hot 100 and Airplay for the week ending March 9, 2002 giving Lopez her third chart-topper following "If You Had My Love" and "I'm Real."
  • R&B singer-songwriter Ashanti Douglas wrote several verses for the remix and also supplied background vocals. During April 2002, Ashanti had a hand in the top three singles in the United States. This song, "What's Luv?" by Fat Joe featuring Ashanti, and her own solo hit "Foolish."

    Album: Who's Next
    Released: 1971

    Behind Blue Eyes Lyrics

No one knows what it's like
    To be the bad man
    To be the sad man
    Behind Blue Eyes

No one knows what it's like
    To be hated
    To be fated
    To telling only lies

    But my dreams
    They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

    I have hours, only lonely
    My love is vengeance
    That's never free

No one knows what it's like
    To feel these feelings
    Like I do
    And I blame you

No one bites back as hard
    On their anger
None of my pain and woe
    Can show through

    But my dreams
    They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

    I have hours, only lonely
    My love is vengeance
    That's never free

When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool

And if I swallow anything evil
Put you're finger down my throat
And if I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear you're coat

No one knows what it's like
    To be the bad man
    To be the sad man

    Behind Blue Eyes
  • Pete Townshend originally wrote this about a character in his "Lifehouse" project, which was going to be a film similar to The Who's Tommy and Quadrophenia. Townshend never finished "Lifehouse," but the songs ended up on the album Who's Next. (thanks, Brian - Paoli, IN)
  • Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey both have blue eyes, but the song is not autobiographical. Townshend has said that he wrote it to show "How lonely it is to be powerful."
  • Townshend was going to use this as the main song in the Lifehouse film for the villain, Jumbo.
  • Pete Townshend has explained that he never behaved like a typical rock star when he was on tour, especially when it came to groupies, which he tried to avoid. He says it was a run-in with a groupie that was the impetus for this song. Townshend, who got married in 1968, was tempted by a groupie after The Who's June 9, 1970 concert in Denver. He says that he went back to his room alone and wrote a prayer beginning, "If my fist clenches, crack it open..." The prayer was more or less asking for help in resisting this temptation. The other words could be describing Townshend's self-pity and how hard it is to resist. (thanks, Geoff Morgan - Brookfield, WI)
  • The original demo version is a lot quieter and stripped-down. Townshend released this version on his 1983 album Scoop.
  • Roger Daltrey did a new version of this song with the Irish group The Chieftains, which was released on the group's 1992 album An Irish Evening. This rendition, which was recorded live at the Grand Opera House in Belfast, features traditional Irish instruments, including fiddle and bodhrán.
  • The lyrics are based on Townshend's own feeling of angst - that no one knows what it's like to be him, with high expectations and pressure to be someone he's not. Knowing what a miserable sod he can be, he's telling us not to let himself enjoy it because he doesn't want to enjoy making us (the fans) happy. It'll mean we will ask for more!
  • This is one of the most popular live songs from The Who, played at the majority of their concerts. Pete Townshend has said at various stages of his career that while he believes it's a great song, he doesn't get any satisfaction performing it, as he feels it is out of context of his Lifehouse project.
  • To the horror of many Who fans who turned up their noses at nu-metal, Limp Bizkit covered this song on their 2003 on their album Results May Vary, taking it to #18 UK and #71 US (the only cover version to chart). This version was used in the Halle Berry movie Gothika. Berry appeared in the video, which was directed by Bizkit frontman Fred Durst. Conveniently enough, Durst included a scene where he kisses Berry in the video.

  • Wayne kicks off this cut with a shout-out to Jay Z. D'usse is the name of the Hov endorsed brand of cognac.

So why did Wayne name drop Jay-Z? He explained to MTV News: "Hov is the god — I'll give Hov a big shout out at all times."

"But we was just on that D'usse heavy," Wayne added. "I don't write none of my music — I don't write it down, so I just go in there and say whatever come to my mind. So what came to my mind that night, was what was on my mind that night." (laughs)
  • Weezy spits further provocative lines on top of Lee Major's triumphant beat, including some rhymes where he references his time in jail for criminal possession for a weapon:

    Shoot you in that Earth
    Get earthworms on me, nigga
I've been did my time I'm getting better with time
    But real n—as don't whine
    We'll burn down your vineyard

Wayne is saying that his prison stint did him no harm as he matured there and is now even better at rapping.

    Rainbow Man Lyrics

    I was born in Alabama
But I never knew my mama
She gave me away at three months old
    Some folks in Mississippi
Took me in and kept me
And treated me just like I was their own
    A Holiness preacher-man's daughter
    And a hard-workin' sharecropper father
    My real mama was Apache
My real daddy? Hell, don't ask me
Mama says she don't remember him
And I'm sure somewhere in my history
I've got some slave blood in me
And some folks think that I look Mexican
I never really fit in anyplace
'Cause there's always a part of me to hate

    I'm the Rainbow Man
    That's who I am
I'm a little white and black and red and tan
I've got all these different colors in my skin
    I'm the Rainbow Man

Well, I know you may doubt it
But if you stop and think about it
There's one common thing that we've all got
    People from all countries
    Come here because they're hungry
For what's cookin' in America's melting pot
We're all different but the same
Red's the only color in our veins

    Well, I'm a Rainbow Man
    Livin' in a rainbow land
I'm white and black and yellow and brown and red and tan
And I'm so proud of all the colors that I am
    I'm the Rainbow Man

All these colors make me American
    I'm the Rainbow Man

  • The B-side to "Klapp Klapp," this song appears to be poking fun at the whole concept of success. However, vocalist Yukimi Nagono insisted to The Guardian it's not entirely satirical. "I'm definitely not saying, 'We are winners!' It's almost a cliché; it's saying the journey is what counts," she said. "The lyrics are: 'May the road be long. Let something drag on. Cos it's feeling so nice.' And that's exactly how we're thinking about things right now."

    You Won't Let Go Lyrics

No shadow comes without the light making a way
No raging storm can ever defy one word of faith
My heart remains sure in the wind, sure in the waves

You are the anchor for my soul
    You Won't Let Go
    You won't let go
No matter what may come I know
    You won't let go

No valley low, changes the truth
    So I'm not afraid
    You hold me close
You lead me through, light up the way

You are the anchor for my soul
    You won't let go
    You won't let go
No matter what may come I know
    You won't let go
    You won't let go

    Neither life, neither death,
The highest high, the deepest depth
    Nothing can
    Nothing can separate
    Neither tears, neither trials
Certain as the sun will rise
    Nothing can
    Nothing can separate

    Neither life, neither death,
The highest high, the deepest depth
    Nothing can separate
    Nothing can separate
    Neither tears, neither trials
Certain as the sun will rise
    Nothing can
    Nothing can separate

You are the anchor for my soul
    You won't let go
    You won't let go
No matter what may come I know
    You won't let go

My heart remains sure in the wind
    Sure in the waves, always

    You Won't Let Go
  • This song was co-written by Seth Moseley, the lead vocalist of Christian rock band Me in Motion. Moseley also co-penned another of Sovereign's tracks, "Miracle." Michael recalled to us : "We were working on another song called 'Miracle,' which is Cut No. 3 on the album. And just before I left, I said, 'Hey, you got anything? You're a writer. You got anything on your computer?' And he pulled up this track , which is 'You Won't Let Go,' and he did that melody and I sort of pulled this acoustic guitar off it, off his wall and Seth and just started writing this melody on the guitar over that track."

"And then I ended up writing the thing in 10 minutes or whatever, and I looked at him. I said, 'Bro'" I said, 'I think we have something here.'"
  • The lyrics were inspired by Romans 8 v 35, where the Apostle Paul writes:

"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow – not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky or in the earth below – indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Michael told us when he started to write the song with Seth, the only words he had was a bridge, ("nothing can separate us, nothing can separate us"). "I just knew that the song needed to be about that Romans passage in the scripture that said, Nothing can separate us from the love of God,'" he added. So the pair ended up writing the song around that scripture verse.
  • Michael writes most of his songs on the piano but in this instance he penned it on a guitar. He told us: "I actually like to write on the guitar. I'm not as versatile as I am on the piano, but sometimes having an instrument that you don't know all these chords, sometimes it sort of forces you to be simple and to not be so complicated. And it sort of throws me into another corner, which sometimes is not very comfortable."

    To Sir With Love Lyrics

Those schoolgirl days of telling tales and biting nails are gone
But in my mind I know they will still live on and on
But how do you thank someone who has taken you from crayons to perfume?
It isn't easy, but I'll try

If you wanted the sky I would write across the sky in letters
That would soar a thousand feet high 'To Sir, With Love'

The time has come for closing books and long last looks must end
And as I leave I know that I am leaving my best friend
A friend who taught me right from wrong and weak from strong
That's a lot to learn, but what can I give you in return?

If you wanted the moon I would try to make a star
But I would rather you let me give my heart 'To Sir, With Love'

    To Sir With Love
  • This is the title song to the 1967 movie of the same name. Lulu was in the film with Sidney Poitier - she got the gig after director James Clavell saw her open a show for The Beach Boys. At first she had just a small role in the movie, but Clavell was so impressed with her that he expanded her role and had her sing the theme. The film stars Poitier as a high school teacher who has a big impact on his unruly students. Lulu plays one of his students, and sings this song to him at the end of the film as the students show their appreciation for the teacher.
  • Lulu is a charismatic Scottish singer known for her moving rendition of this song. She was born Marie McDonald McLaughlin Laurie (one source cites "Lawrie" as the spelling). She also sang the title song for the 1974 James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun. From 1969 to 1973, Lulu was married to pop star Maurice Gibb. (thanks, Mike - Mountlake Terrace, WA, for above 2)
  • This was Billboard's single of the year for 1967, having been #1 for five weeks in the USA. However in Lulu's native UK it was only ever a B-side to her #11 hit "Let's Pretend."
  • Don Black wrote the lyrics and Mark London composed the music. Black revealed to the Sunday Times August 10, 2008: "It's one of the very, very few songs that I've worked on where I've written the words first. Normally, I may give the composer a title or suggest a couple of lines, but I don't like to write the whole lyric first. If you write the lyric first, you tend to ramble. You want the structure there to work against it."
  • Lulu performed this song on The Ed Sullivan Show on October 22, 1967, which was the day after hit #1 in America.
  • The version used in the movie has three verses. For the single release, the third verse ("Those awkward years, have hurried by...") was edited out.
  • This was produced by Mickie Most, and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin fame was the musical director. At the time, Most was the, er, most successful producer in the UK, a consistent hitmaker whose CV includes "I'm Into Something Good" for Herman's Hermits and "Sunshine Superman" for Donovan. Most set up his own record company, RAK, in 1970, and signed Hot Chocolate, Suzie Quatro and Racey to the label.

    My Light
  • This song comes from a personal place as Posner reflects on his career to date. "I think a lot of people [are] scared to tell the truth in songs," he told The Boombox . "Especially when it's something that's not … flattering about themselves. I was one of those artists when I first started. I would always pretend I was perfect. That s— is so corny. Imperfect is the new perfect, you know? I just try to keep it real in my lyrics [now] — I have to tell the truth."
  • Posner sings here of still feeling unfilled even after getting a record deal and achieving some success in his recording career. "I think a lot of people in their late teens and early 20s [think], 'If I just get a dream job or money, that [will] fill the hole that I have in my heart,'" he told The Boombox. "My parents always told me money doesn't buy happiness, but I always thought that was something that people who didn't have enough money say."

"I remember saying, 'Man, I'll just get this deal, and I'll be good.' So, I went for it and I got it, but it didn't make me happy," Posner continued. "That's almost like succeeding [in] your goals and not getting filled up is almost a bigger problem than failing. That's what I went through, and that's what I've gone through for the last two [or] three years."

    Part of the Plan Lyrics

    I have these moments
    All steady and strong
I'm feeling so holy and humble
    The next thing I know
    I'm all worried and weak
And I feel myself starting to crumble

    The meanings get lost
    And the teachings get tossed
    And you don't know what
    You're going to do next
    You wait for the sun
    But it never quite comes
    Some kind of message
    Comes through to you
Some kind of message comes through

And it says to you. . .

    Love when you can
    Cry when you have to
    Be who you must
That's a Part of the Plan
    Await your arrival
    With simple survival
And one day we'll all understand

    I had a woman
    Who gave me her soul
But I wasn't ready to take it
    Her heart was so fragile
    And heavy to hold
And I was afraid I might break it

    Your conscience awakes
    And you see your mistakes
    And you wish someone
    Would buy your confessions
    The days miss their mark
And the night gets so dark
    And some kind of message
    Comes through to you
Some kind of message shoots through --

    Love when you can
    Cry when you have to
    Be who you must
That's a part of the plan
    Await your arrival
    With simple survival
And one day we'll all understand

    There is no Eden or
    Heavenly gates
That you're gonna make it to one day

    Part of the Plan
  • In this song, it seems that Fogelberg was coming to grips with the consequences and responsibilities of his new celebrity, while trying to maintain balance in love and life. It sounds like he was getting over a relationship:

I had a woman who gave me her soul
But I wasn't ready to take it
Her heart was so fragile and heavy to hold
