This Photograph Is Proof (I Know You Know) Lyrics

Well, I'll wait till you listen
I won't say a word
To follow your instincts
Just never worked for me
Your silent but strong, (yeah, I'm playing that card)
And your noticing nothing again

Now I'm lying on the table
With everything you said
Keeping mind the way that it felt
When the most I could do was to just blame myself

(yeah, I'm playing that card)
When the most I could do was to just blame myself
And I know you know, everything
I know you didn't mean it
I know you didn't mean it

I know you know, everything (drop everything)
I know you didn't mean it (start it all over)
I know you didn't mean it (remember more then you'd like to forget)

So, we're talking forever
And you almost feel better
But, betters no excuse for tonight
You see, it's never been enough
Just to leave all you gave up
But, its never good enough to feel right

Now I'm lying on the table
With everything you said
It will all catch up eventually
Well, it caught up and honestly
The weight of my decisions
Were impossible to hold

They were never yours
They were never yours
Well I, know you know, everything
I know you didn't mean it
I know you didn't mean it

I know you know, everything (drop everything)
I know you didn't mean it (start it all over)
I know you didn't meant it (remember more then you'd like to forget)

Drop everything, start it all over
Remember more then you'd like to forget [Repeat: x2]

Would you like to forget
Would you like to forget
Drop everything, start it all over
Well, drop everything start it all over (would you like to forget)
Drop everything start it all over
Start it all

Well I, know you know, everything
I know you didn't mean it
I know you didn't mean it

I know you know, everything (drop everything)
I know you didn't mean it (start it all over)
I know you didn't meant it (remember more then you'd like to forget)

I know you know
I know you know, you know, you know, you know

  • This song is about relationships. It's about how it sucks when you break up with a girl because you have to go through the whole process of looking for a new girl and "Drop everything start it all over."

    Life For Rent Lyrics

I haven't ever really found a place that I call home
I never stick around quite long enough to make it
I apologize that once again I'm not in love
But it's not as if I mind that your heart ain't exactly breaking
    It's just a thought, only a thought

But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
'cause nothing I have is truly mine

I've always thought that I would love to live by the sea
To travel the world alone and live more simply
I have no idea what's happened to that dream
'cause there's really nothing left here to stop me
    It's just a thought, only a thought

But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
'cause nothing I have is truly mine

While my heart is a shield and I won't let it down
While I am so afraid to fail so I won't even try
Well how can I say I'm alive

But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
'cause nothing I have is truly mine

    Life For Rent
  • The title track of Dido's sophomore album, this was released as its second single with some success reaching the Top 10 in the UK, Ireland and Italy.
  • According to Dido, the meaning of 'Life For Rent' is, "that my life isn't really my own, I only rented it for a while, but if I don't manage to buy it, to own it, then nothing of what I think is mine is really mine."
  • The song was used to soundtrack pivotal moments in US TV series Smallville and Nikita.
  • Life For Rent was the top selling album in 2003 in the UK with over 2 million sales.
  • Dido recalled the story of the song to Canada.com : "I wrote 'Life For Rent' in America," she said. "I had basically run away from England at that point, for various reasons — I was being chased around a lot by the press and also I had just ended this relationship and stuff — and wrote pretty much the whole album while I was in America. This song was one of the first songs I wrote there and it still resonates with me. There's a line in there that says I want to live by the sea — well I still do and I still don't."
  • Sophie Muller, who would also direct Pink's "Trouble" video the same year, helmed the clip which follows Dido singing throughout a house.

The South's Gonna Do It Again Lyrics

Well, the train to Grinder's Switch is runnin' right on time
And them Tucker Boys are cookin' down in Caroline
People down in Florida can't be still
When ol' Lynyrd Skynrd's pickin' down in Jacksonville
People down in Georgia come from near and far
To hear Richard Betts pickin' on that red guitar

So gather 'round, gather 'round chillin'
Get down, well just get down chillin'
Get loud, well you can be loud and be proud
Well you can be proud, hear now
    Be proud you're a rebel
'Cause The South's Gonna Do It Again and again

Elvin Bishop sittin' on a bale of hay
He ain't good lookin', but he sure can play
And there's ZZ Top and you can't forget
That old brother Willie's gettin' soakin' wet
And all the good people down in Tennessee
Are diggin' barefoot Jerry and C.D.B

So gather 'round, gather 'round chillin'
Get down, well just get down chillin'
Get loud, well you can be loud and be proud
Well you can be proud, hear now

The South's Gonna Do It Again
  • The American South is the birthplace of the Southern Rock music genre. Charlie Daniels has worked with many of the Southern Rock bands that defined the sound. Says Daniels: "This song is just about a bunch of bands that we played with and enjoyed working with. We started in '74, we brought them out, and we worked with Marshall Tucker, and The Allman Brothers, and Lynyrd Skynyrd - our good old bunch. We all came up basically in the same kind of situation, and most of the guys that I wrote this song about we felt very close to. We felt a kinship to, a brotherhood sort of thing. So it's just a tribute song to the bands." (Check out our interview with Charlie Daniels.)
  • Named in the song are:
The Marshall Tucker Band (Spartanburg, SC)
    Lynyrd Skynyrd (Jacksonville, FL)
Dickey Betts (from Allman Brothers Band)
    Elvin Bishop (Glendale, CA)
    ZZ Top (Houston, TX)
    Wet Willie (Mobile, AL)
    Barefoot Jerry (TN)

  • The band Grinderswitch is mentioned in the opening line of the lyrics: "A train to Grinder's Switch is runnin' right on time." Grinderswitch was a Southern Rock band formed by Dru Lombar, Larry Howard, and Joe Dan Petty in middle Georgia. They recorded on the Capricorn label formed by Phil Walden in Macon, Georgia. They toured with The Allman Brothers Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Charlie Daniels Band and others in the early 1970s, and also played at Charlie Daniels' Volunteer Jam. Unfortunately, Joe Dan Petty, who was also a guitar tech for the Allman Brothers Band, passed away in 2000 and Dru Lombar passed away in 2005.

    Gale Song Lyrics

    It's a lonely road
    Full of tired men
And you can see it in their faces
And you'll be home in spring
    I can wait till then
    I heard you're on a big train

And all this too shall pass
This loneliness won't last for long
I wasn't there to take his place
I was ten thousand miles away
So when you hear my voice
    When you say my name
May it never give you pain

    I don't wanna go
    But it's time to leave
You'll be on my mind, my destiny

And I won't fight it in vain
I love you just the same
    I couldn't know what's in your mind
But I saw the pictures, you're looking fine

    And there was a time
When I stood in line for love, for love, for love
But I let you go, oh, I let you go

    And he fell apart
    With this broken heart
And this blood, this blood, this blood
Oh, it drains from my skin and dust

  • Wesley Schultz's interest in Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy was aroused by a Mockingjay pin that Patti Smith was wearing at Clive Davis' pre-Grammys party. The Lumineers vocalist started reading the books and penned this fragile slow builder about protagonist Katniss Everdeen's best friend and hunting partner Gale Hawthorne, who is also a romantic rival to Peeta Mellark. "I was interested in his perspective, " Schultz told Billboard magazine "He is a man in the shadows, left waiting in the wings as Katniss takes the stage with Peeta."

    Kung Fu Fighting Lyrics

(Oh oh oh oh) y'all ready?
(Oh oh oh oh) yeah, let's go
    (Oh oh oh oh)

(Oh oh oh oh) y'all ready?
(Oh oh oh oh) yeah, let's go
    (Oh oh oh oh)

Now here it is, one to make you move
Something with a funky kung fu groove
    Something that'll make you shout
    Make you play the crowd
And make you want to turn it out (yeah)
So, honeyz, gather round (right round)
I'll pick you up and take you on
    Go pound for pound
'Coz I'm the only man who'll please you
I got a little something that'll tease you (oh oh oh oh)
So throw those hands up high (come one)
Shake your body, move from side to side (that's right)
(Oh oh oh oh) 'Coz we've just begun
    Party people in the place
Yeah, we're having fun (oh oh oh oh)
Oh yeah, I'm gonna be a big star
I'm gonna lay it on and go "woo-hah" (oh oh oh oh)
'Coz when the move gets excited (come on)
    When everybody's Kung Fu Fighting

Everybody was kung fu fighting, come on (huh) woo-hah
These kids were fast as lightning (ha) woo-chok
In fact, it was a little bit frightening (huh) huh huh
But they fought with expert timing (ha)

(Oh oh oh oh) sing it, girl
Sexy kung fu fighter (oh oh oh oh)
Let me take you higher (oh oh oh oh)
    I got the moves, baby
Single-move fighter (oh oh oh oh)
    Take you higher (ah yeah)

Dance bright lights, Orinoco flow (so bright)
A kung fu fighter in the disco
He's out to take his chance
He knows the honeyz in the house only go for romance
(He's on the floor) he's got a white suit on
Five past one and the night has just begun
'Coz when he lays it on with style
A ladies' man with a nice smile (oh oh oh oh)
    And right before his eyes
Sees a pretty young thing looking real fly (oh oh oh oh) so fly
He wants to make the score
So he takes her hand and leads her to the dancefloor (oh oh oh oh)
He's giving her line after line
She tells him that he looks real fine (oh oh oh oh)
'Coz he's the man of perfect timing
Just like when he's kung fu fighting

Everybody was kung fu fighting, come on (huh) woo-hah
These kids were fast as lightning (ha) woo-chok
In fact, it was a little bit frightening (huh) huh huh
But they fought with expert timing (ha)

(Oh oh oh oh) sing it, girl
Sexy kung fu fighter (oh oh oh oh)
Let me take you higher (oh oh oh oh)
    Kung fu fighter everywhere
Throw those hands in the air (oh oh oh oh)
The time has come to turn it out
Everybody, let me hear you shout)

One, two, do the kung fu (One, two, do the kung fu)
Say three, four on the dancefloor (Three, four on the dancefloor)
    Come on
One, two, do the kung fu (One, two, do the kung fu)
Say three, four on the dancefloor (Three, four on the dancefloor)
    One more time

    Roundhouse kck, karate chop too
I'm gonna teach you all the kung fu
It's an eastern thing, that's what I'm saying
While the retro disco track's playing
Gonna make you shout, make you beg for more
So you get your body on the dancefloor, (come on, girl)
So, boys and girls, you know what to do
Throw those hands up and do the kung fu

Everybody was kung fu fighting, come on (huh) woo-hah
These kids were fast as lightning (ha) woo-chok
In fact, it was a little bit frightening (huh) huh huh

    Kung Fu Fighting
  • Douglas was a session singer for Pye records when he wrote this. He got the idea for the song when he saw 2 kids in London doing some Kung Fu moves.
  • In 1974 the Asian producer Biddu asked Douglas to record a song he wrote with Larry Weiss called "I Want To Give You My Everything," and Douglas convinced him to use "Kung Fu Fighting" as the B-side. They recorded "Kung Fu" in 10 minutes, figuring it was just a B-side, but the record label loved it and made it the A-side. After a slow start, it began selling and Biddu became the first Asian to produce a UK #1 hit. It went on to sell 10 million copies worldwide.
  • Biddu (From the Metro newspaper August 6, 2004): "Kung Fu Fighting was not meant to be a hit. Carl Douglas recorded something for an A-side of a single and every session was three hours long. We spent two hours on the first song and then took a break and I said: 'Quick guys, we need to record the B-side in two takes.' Kung Fu Fighting was the B-side so I went over the top on the 'huhs' and the 'hahs' and the chopping sounds. It was a B-side: who was going to listen? I played the A-side to the guy at Pye Records, Robin Blanchflower, and he said: 'Can I listen to the rest of the reel?' When he heard it, he said: 'This should be the A-side.'"
  • Kung Fu movies were very popular at the time, and this capitalized on the craze. Bruce Lee was a big star.
  • Douglas is from Jamaica. He was the first Jamaican-born singer to have a #1 hit in the US.
  • Of course this was used in the 2008 kid's movie Kung Fu Panda, performed by Cee-Lo Green and Jack Black. The original Carl Douglas version was used in the movies City of God (2002), Wayne's World 2 (1994), Beverly Hills Ninja (1997), Daddy Day Care (2003), and Bowfinger (1999).
  • In 1998 this returned to the UK charts peaking at #8 in a rendition by British dance act Bus Stop. Their version sampled Carl Douglas' original vocals. Bus Stop were production group Mark Hall and Graham Turner who later recorded as Flip & Fill. Daz Sampson, who later represented the UK in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, was also a member of the group.

    Bed Peace Lyrics

    Wake up, wake up
Gotta get this paper, get this cake up
Gotta do my hair, gotta put on makeup
Gotta act like I care about this fake stuff
Straight up what a waste of my day
If I had it my way I'd roll out of bed
    Say bout 2:30 mid day
Hit the blunt then, hit you up to come over to my place
    You show up right away
We make love then and then we fuck
And then you'd give me my space
    Hey

What I am trying to say is
The love is ours to make so we should make it
    Everything else can wait
The time is ours to take so we should take it

Wake up, wake up, bake up
    Gotta heat the vape up
    Lets get faded
Gotta call your job tell em' you won't make it
Ain't nobody here baby lets get wasted
    We should just get naked
'Cause I be working hard and I know you be on that same shit
Every other day's a different game that you just can't win
I just want to ease your mind and make you feel all right
So go head tell your baby mama you gon be with me tonight
    Right

What I am trying to say is
The love is ours to make, so we should make it
    Everything else can wait
The time is ours to take so we should take it

It's not love, but it's pretty close
Hot fudge and a little smoke
I didn't mean it means nothing to you
Hands locked on my black couch with nothing to do
    Can't stop on cloud 20
Buried in the drugs, but the feels keeps coming
Finally stop crying, but your nose is still running
Wipe it on my shirt, haha I need sleep
You tell me that you wanna do it big
I love it when you say "guess what?" (What? What?)
Reading stories to some other nigga kid
And I wonder why I'm all messed up (up up up up)
'Cause we gotta be responsible sometimes
Being a class act nevermind my alumni
I don't wanna be a round a baby so dumb high
I don't see the beauty of a momma on insides
Curled up with my head on your chest
It's the best remedy for the pain and the stress
If the world doesn't change then we'll never get dressed
It will be like this to the kiss of the death
Of my soul, bowl of the blue dream, no
Not a good team, once soul, two halves
    No joke, who laughs?
Just us (Just us, just us)

Okay, got this OJ and Jose
Mixed it up with that Rose
We gon' do this our own way
    Alright, okay
What is it that your smoking?
Piece it up with this peace and love
And this peace and love like the old days

What I am trying to say is
The love is ours to make so we should make it
    Everything else can wait
The time is ours to take so we should take it

    We should stay right here
    We should lay right here
'Cause everything is okay right here
    You should stay right here
    We should lay right here

    Bed Peace
  • Los Angeles R&B singer songwriter Jhené Aiko began her career contributing backing vocals to recordings by the R&B boy band B2K. Her debut mixtape Sailing Soul, which was self-released in 2011, got her noticed and Aiko gained further attention after contributions to Big Sean's Hall Of Fame track "Beware" and Drake's Nothing Was The Same cuts, "From Time" and "Wu-Tang Forever." This was released as the lead single from Aiko's debut EP, Sail Out after she signed to Def Jam. "Sail Out basically means to be free," Aiko explained. "Go with the wind, you know, like a sailboat. I think that's really important when it comes to peace… inner peace especially. You can't help anyone else if you don't have it together for yourself."
  • The song features Childish Gambino, who combines rapping with writing for television, performing with his sketch group Derrick Comedy and acting on the NBC comedy Community under his real name of Donald Glover.
  • The single's artwork and video was inspired by John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 1969 Bed-Ins for Peace protest against the Vietnam War. The clip finds Aiko and Gambino lying in bed in a Los Angeles hotel room while reporters interview them. They're both clad in all-white like Lennon and Ono's original protest. Aiko explained that it was her experience growing up in LA, which inspired her to advocate a movement for peace. "I grew up in LA, and there was a lot of stuff going on all the time," she stated. I've always been around noise and chaos."
  • Sail Out cruised to #8 on the Billboard Hot 200 Albums chart in its first week, making the record Def Jam Records' biggest-ever EP debut.
  • The song represents the fun and irresponsible side of Jhené Aiko. "When I wrote 'Bed Peace,' I knew that I wanted to make something more playful because I usually make sad songs about heartbreak," she told Radio.com . "So on this song, I took a different approach and decided to talk about what a perfect day would be like for me and a perfect lover. The song is all about slowing down every now and then and not worrying about anything but the moment."

    I'm damned if I voodoo, and I'm dead if I don't
Kick the crypt and baby walk with me
And we'll find a new place to haunt
Now the dead can't die, they're not alive
I've got one walking by my side
It's a curse, a hex, tell me what comes next
Tie the noose around my neck

See you in the graveyard at midnight
    Such a horrifying delight
Your ice-cold touch, it feels so right
    And just last night
I Walked With A Zombie, zombie, zombie
I walked with a zombie, zombie, zombie
    I walked with a zombie

Her stare is so demanding and her clothes are so commanding
She makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop
With my head on the butcher block
You're the only one for me, I'm in love with a decomposing zombie
Beauty's on duty in this horror movie
Make me spill my guts with just one touch

See you in the graveyard at midnight
    Such a horrifying delight
Your ice-cold touch, it feels so right
    And just last night
I walked with a zombie, zombie, zombie
I walked with a zombie, zombie, zombie
    I walked with a zombie

She makes me do everything she wants me to
And that's okay with me because I'm walking with a zombie

See you in the graveyard at midnight
    Such a horrifying delight
Your ice-cold touch, it feels so right
    And just last night
I walked with a zombie, zombie, zombie
I walked with a zombie, zombie, zombie

    I Walked With A Zombie
  • This song was inspired by the 1943 movie I Walked With A Zombie, which is a favorite of Wednesday 13's. Explaining how the song came to him, Wednesday told us : "I was reading about it in a book, and I was just looking through this book and I was playing guitar. Somehow I just started singing what I was reading, and it just turned into that song. It turned out to be so catchy, and I did a demo of it immediately. I went, 'Whoa, this is like super horror pop punk,' or whatever you want to call it."

The song roughly follows the story of the film, which is about a woman who has entered some kind of trance-like state. Her caretaker brings her to a remote island, where a voodoo priest attempts a cure.
  • Wednesday 13 (real name: Joseph Poole) was ahead of the Zombie trend, releasing this song a few years before the hit TV series Walking Dead and the movie Zombieland. The first Wednesday 13 video was for this song, and it featured the band integrated into a horror film.

    I See A Darkness Lyrics

    Well, you're my friend
    And you can see
May times we've been out drinking
Many times we've shared our thoughts
Did you ever, ever notice, the kind of thoughts I got
Well you know I have a love, for everyone I know
And you know I have a drive, for life that won't let go
But sometimes the opposition come rising up in me
This terrible imposition, comes blacking through my mind

And then I See A Darkness
Oh no, I see a darkness
Do you know how much I love you
Cause I'm hoping some day soon
You'll save me from this darkness

Well, I hope that someday soon
We'll find peace in our lives
    Together or apart
    Alone or with our wives
And we can stop our whoring
    And draw the smiles inside
    And light it up forever
    And never go to sleep
    My best unbeaten brother
    That isn't all I see

And then I see a darkness
Oh no, I see a darkness
Do you know how much I love you

  • This was written by the American singer-songwriter Will Oldham. He recorded it for the title track of his 1999 sixth album, the first on which he used his 'Bonnie Prince Billy' moniker. Oldham provided background vocals for Cash's Rick Rubin produced version, which can be found on American III: Solitary Man.
  • Oldham recalled Cash covering his song to Mojo October 2013: "I actually heard about my song being on the album from a friend of mine who plays guitar with me," he said; "He'd talked to Rick Rubin who said, 'Oh yeah, Johnny Cash just recorded I see a darkness.' A couple of weeks later I met Rick and we arranged I could meet Johnny Cash. And when I did, Johnny said, 'I want to redo my vocals on that song, Why don't we work on it together? That was really exciting, and we did it that same day, worked together on 'I See a Darkness.'"

"It was a situation we were both very comfortable with, which is working on music," Oldham continued. "We only spoke when we had something to say that the other person wanted to hear, so it was one of the few times when I actually felt I was in the correct company. And that's not trying to give myself excessive grace. He would ask the questions about the song; a couple of grammatical questions he wanted to clear up."
  • Cash's health prior to the recording of American III: Solitary Man had been poor and he'd even been hospitalized for pneumonia. The album contained the Man in Black's response to his illness. Mojo asked Oldham if he felt spooky that someone who was seriously ill was singing about darkness? He replied: "No, it didn't, because the song is about seeing darkness and asking for friendship and support... it seemed good he was singing the song...at that time (it seemed like) an essential statement."

    The Real Me Lyrics

Can you see The Real Me?
    Can ya?
    Can ya?

I went back to the doctor
    To get another shrink
I sit and tell him bout my weekend
But he never betrays what he thinks

Can you see the real me, Doctor?
    Doctor?
Can you see the real me, Doctor?
    Woah, Doctor!

I went back to my mother
I said "I'm crazy ma, help me"
She said "I know how it feels son
Cause it runs in the family"

Can you see the real me, Mama?
    Mama?
Can you see the real me, Mama?
    Woah, Mama!

    Can you see
    Can you see
Can you see the real me?
    Can you see
Can you see the real me
    The real me
    The real me

The cracks between the paving stones
Look like rivers of flowing veins
    Strange people who know me
Peeping from behind every window pane
The girl I used to love
    Lives in this yellow house
    Yesterday she passed me by
She doesn't want to know me now

Can you see the real me?
    Can ya?
    Can ya?
Can you see the real me?
    Can ya?
    Woah, yeah!

I ended up with a preacher
    Full of lies and hate
I seemed to scare him a little
So he showed me to the golden gate

Can you see the real me, preacher?
    Preacher?
Can you see the real me, preacher?
    Preacher?

    Can you see
    Can you see
    Can you see
    Woah

Can you see the real me, Doctor?

Can you see the real me, Ma?

Can you see the real me?

    The Real Me
  • This is about how a Mod can't see who he really is. "Mods" were British youth who kept up with the latest music and fashion trends. Pete Townshend was a champion of Mod culture, and the rock opera Quadrophenia told the story of a Mod named Jimmy.
  • John Entwistle gave what many consider one of his greatest bass performances on this song. In a 1996 interview with Goldmine magazine, Entwistle explained that he recorded it in one take. He was just "joking around" when he played it, but the band thought it was great and used it in the final version.

    Dancer Lyrics

    Dancer
  • This was written by Michael Schenker and the group's lead singer at the time, Graham Bonnet, who recorded just the one album with the band. Bonnet, who had previously served time in the bands Rainbow and Alcatrazz, wrote the song about Toni Basil, who was having a bout with stardom at the time as her song "Mickey" was a huge hit. Basil, however, was an accomplished choreographer and dancer long before her hit song. "I met her back in the '70s when I came over here [America] with my first wife," Bonnet told us . "She was doing a TV show and she was a dancer. She had a group called The Lockers - it was this little team of dancers. And then she made this record that came out, and I couldn't believe it. She suddenly became very popular in England. So it's about her, 'Dancer' is about her. How she suddenly became a star and how everybody adored her."

    Dinosaurs Will Die
  • In this song, dinosaurs represent the huge record labels that put out bad music because it sells. They will die even though they are powerful like the dinosaurs were. The song explains how music should be made for the love of it and nothing more: "Music made from pure devotion, not ambition, not for fans."

Don't Forget Where You Belong Lyrics

    Been a lot of places
I've been all around the world
    Seen a lot of faces
    Never knowing where I was

    On the horizon
Oh, well, I know, I know, I know
I know the sun will be rising
    Back home

    Living out of cases,
    Packing up and taking off
    Made a lot of changes
But not forgetting who I was

    On the horizon
Oh, well, I know, I know, I know,
I know the moon will be rising
    Back home

Don't Forget Where You Belong, home
Don't forget where you belong, home
If you ever feel alone, don't
You were never on your own
And the proof is in this song

    I've been away for ages
But I've got everything I need
    I'm flicking through the pages
    I've written in my memory

    I feel like I'm dreaming
Oh, so I know, I know, I know,
I know that I'm never leaving
    No, I won't go

Don't forget where you belong, home
Don't forget where you belong, home
If you ever feel alone, don't
You were never on your own
And the proof is in this song

Lights off when they should be on
    Even stars and skies above
Short days when the nights are long
When I think of the days I've gone
Don't matter how far I've gone
    I'll always be around oh

Don't forget where you belong, home
Don't forget where you belong (don't forget it), home
If you ever feel alone, don't
You were never on your own
    Never, never

Don't forget where you belong, home
Don't forget where you belong (don't forget it), home
If you ever feel alone, don't
You were never on your own (you were never)
And the proof is in this song

    Home
    Don't forget it
    Home
If you ever feel alone, don't
You were never on your own (you were never)
And the proof is in this song

    Never forget it
    This song
    Don't forget it!
    No, I never forget it
    This song
    You were never

    Don't Forget Where You Belong
  • This anthemic song was penned by Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter of UK pop-rockers McFly. The same trio also wrote the Take Me Home track, "I Would" and Fletcher also composed on his own "I Want" for Up All Night. "One Direction are so similar to us, but they're on a global scale," Danny Jones told Digital Spy . "We had a little smidgen of what they had and we're happy. I'm glad that they came to us because we can give them good music."

He added: "They've had such good songs and we're privileged to be a part of that. For us it's not about making money and being there for a moment, for us it's about the musical satisfaction and we can give that to One Direction."
  • Liam Horan contributed towards the lyrics. They were inspired by the bouts of homesickness, he suffers when on tour. "Luckily, I have my four best mates on the road with me to keep me from getting lonely," he told Billboard magazine. "Of course we all miss home at times. Who wouldn't, being on the road all year long? Wouldn't give it up for anything though."
