What I Might Do Lyrics

What I Might Do
  • The Manchester based DJ and producer Ben Pearce is the co-founder with Chris Farnworth of the record label/DJ agency Purp & Soul. This slinky, Deep House music tune was his debut single. It was released on March 26 2013 by Universal Music Group, under exclusive license from Under the Shade Records.
  • The song samples the bluesy vocals from the Anthony Hamilton song "Cornbread, Fish & Collard Greens." Pearce told Beatport the tune was a long time in the making, and he spent months tweaking it. "It's probably the longest I've ever spent on a track because I usually work very quickly," he said. "I'm glad I procrastinated because the end result has been worth it. The arrangement was pretty much always the same. I added the higher pad quite late on, and when I had the base of the track, my girlfriend suggested the vocal. I threw it over and it just worked."

    The Israelites Lyrics

Get up in the morning, slaving for bread, sir,
so that every mouth can be fed.
    Poor me, the Israelite. Aah.

Get up in the morning, slaving for bread, sir,
So that every mouth can be fed.
    Poor me, the Israelite. Aah.

My wife and my kids, they are packed up and leave me.
Darling, she said, I was yours to be seen.
    Poor me, the Israelite. Aah.

Shirt them a-tear up, trousers are gone.
I don't want to end up like Bonnie and Clyde.
    Poor me, the Israelite. Aah.

After a storm there must be a calm.
They catch me in the farm. You sound the alarm.
    Poor me, the Israelite. Aah.

    Poor me, the Israelite.
I wonder who I'm working for.
    Poor me, Israelite,
I look a-down and out, sir.

  • Decker (from The Metro newspaper, April 18, 2005): "It all happened so quickly. I didn't write that song sitting around a piano or playing a guitar. I was walking in the park, eating corn. I heard a couple arguing about money. She was saying she needed money and he was saying the work he was doing was not giving him enough. I relate to those things and began to sing a little song - "You get up in the morning and you slaving for bread." By the time I got home it was complete. And it was so funny, that song never got out of my mind. It stayed fresh in my head. The following day I got my little tape and I just sang that song and that's how it all started."
  • Dekker (born Desmond Dacres) was raised in Kingston, Jamaica and trained as a welder before singing. He formed the Aces and teamed up with hit producer Leslie Kong in 1966 (with whom he worked until Kong's death in 1971). He has over 20 Jamaican #1 hits and 2 other UK Top 10 hits: "It Mek" and "You Can Get It If You Really Want." He enjoyed a revival in the UK in the early 1980s thanks to the two-tone movement. Dekker died of a heart attack in 2006 at age 64.

    Falling Lyrics

I hurl into the moment like I'm standing at the edge (I know)
That no one's gonna turn me 'round
Just one more step, I could let go
    Oh and in the middle,
I hear the voices and they're calling for me now (I know)
And nothing's gonna wake me now
'Cause I'm a slave to the sound

    And they're calling,
Don't stop, no, I'll never give up
And I'll never look back, just hold your head up
And if it gets rough, it's time to get rough
    They keep saying
Don't stop, no one's ever enough
I'll never look back, never give up
And if it gets rough, it's time to get rough
But now I'm Falling, falling, falling
    Falling, falling, falling,
    Falling, falling, falling, falling, oh

    Now we're going down,
And I can feel the eyes are watching us so closely oh
I'm trying not to make a sound
'Cause I'll be found out somehow

    So keep calling,
Don't stop, no, I'll never give up
And I'll never look back, just hold your head up
And if it gets rough, it's time to get rough
    They keep saying
Don't stop, no one's ever enough
I'll never look back, never give up
And if it gets rough, it's time to get rough
    But now I'm falling

Into the fire feeling higher than the truth
    (I'm falling)
I can feel the heat but I'm not burning
    (But now I'm falling)
Feeling desire, feeling tired, hungry too
    (I'm falling)
    Feels like I'm falling, yeah
    I can hear them calling
    (I'm falling)

Into the fire feeling higher than the truth
    (I'm falling)
I can feel the heat but I'm not burning
    (But now I'm falling)
Feeling desire, feeling tired, hungry too
    (I'm falling)
    Feels like I'm falling, yeah
    I can hear them calling
    (Now I'm falling)

    Falling, falling, falling
    Falling, falling, falling,
    Falling, falling, falling, oh
    Oh and now I'm falling

    Falling, falling, falling
    Falling, falling, falling,
    Falling, falling, falling, oh

    Falling, falling, falling, falling
    Fall yeah
    And now I'm falling
    Falling, falling, falling, falling
    Fall yeah
    And now I'm falling

Into the fire feeling higher than the truth
    (But now I'm falling)
I can feel the heat but I'm not burning

    Falling
  • The third single from American girl group Haim's debut studio album, Days Are Gone, is an R&B banger that finds vocalist Danielle Haim crooning about matters of the heart. The song was released in Britain on February 12, 2013 and peaked at #30 on the UK Singles Chart.
  • The video was directed by Tabitha Denholm, formerly of the band Queens of Noize, and was shot in the hills near Pasadena, California, with some scenes shot at a botanical garden. The idea was for the Haim sisters to look stranded.
  • Danielle Hain told VH1: "I think we wrote the song at a time when we weren't playing around LA, nothing was really happening. We kinda wrote it as a 'Stay strong' kind of cheerleading song."
  • Producer Ariel Rechtshaid told The Guardian that he recorded a live version of the song, which he used as a framework for his knob twiddling. "I was messing around with 'Falling' while they were on tour," he explained. "Their live version had a lot of percussion on it – almost a Talking Heads jam session. I got my hands on an original LM-1 Linn drum; it's got a really special swing and groove to it, and I recreated Danielle's drum pattern on that – it inspired one thing and another. Layers and layers came together."
  • At one point in the video, Alana Haim pulls a fish out of the water. She wiggles it convincingly, but this fish was already dead. Director Tabitha Denholm says that she tried shooting the scene with a live fish, but Alana couldn't hold on to it, so a lifeless substitute shaken for effect was used instead.

    Days Are Gone Lyrics

    And I got back up
When I lost control over it all, over it all
And I knew that I couldn't take no more
'Cause I want it all, I want it all
All the times I've said it
All the times I've said it before
    Those Days Are Gone
    'Cause you didn't know how
    And I know that now
I want it all, I want it all

Felt like I was walking on a tight rope
Those days are gone, those days are gone
Sometimes I wish I didn't miss you at all
    Those days are gone
Holding on, holding on, holding on
    Those days are gone
And now I'm waiting for the day to dawn
    Those days are gone

I remember when you found it hard to give
But I gave it all, I gave you my all
    You only took one side
When all my hopes ran dry
Those dreams are gone, gone all along
All the times I said it
All the times I've said it before
    I'm moving on
You can have my past, I'll never get that back
I'm moving on, 'cause those days are gone

Felt like I was walking on a tight rope
Those days are gone, those days are gone
Sometimes I wish I didn't miss you at all
    Those days are gone
Holding on, holding on, holding on
    Those days are gone
And now I'm waiting for the day to dawn
    Those days are gone

Days are gone, days are gone, ha
Days are gone, days are gone, ha
All my love that I can't hide
All my love now you can't find it

Days are gone, days are gone, ha
Days are gone, days are gone, ha
All my love that I can't hide
All my love now you can't find it

    Days Are Gone
  • The Haim sisters wrote this song with British pop soul songstress Jessie Ware and her frequent songwriting partner, Nu-Folk artist Kid Harpoon. The American trio met Ware through a mutual friend while they were on tour in London and despite her tight schedule, managed to pen this tune during a five-hour lunch. Haim didn't set out to write a song that would end up on Days On Gone since as Alana of the trio explained to Radio.com , "It was mostly like, 'Let's write a song so you don't get in trouble,'" but they soon realized it was too good to pass up.
  • Danielle Haim told MTV News why they named their debut album after this song. The sisters had intended to go the eponymous route but changed their minds after realizing "Days Are Gone" was the perfect metaphor for their many missed album deadlines. "A lot of people actually wanted us to hand in the record a lot earlier than we did because the Forever EP, came out over a year ago," she said. "But it wasn't right."
  • Haim wrote the chorus with Jessie Ware in an hour. Este Haim told NME: "The entire first line was written after a dinner we had at 11 at night in the studio. The first thing I sang when I got on the mic stuck."
Alana added: "The spirit of Mariah Carey just flew into Este's body."

Passion in my eyes, I lived it everyday, but how could you go throw it all away?
In my dreams it's me and you, it's there I saw it all come true
As time went by faith in you grew, so one thing's left for me to do (finish you)

I feel it burn inside, burn like the rising sun
Lifted into the sky, took away the only thing I loved
I know after tonight all your power crumbles in my arms
So don't worry, I'll be fine, when my life ends, I'll leave this scar

A smoking gun in your hand, now don't you realize what you've done
Put a bullet in his back, your hero since you were so young
How could you kill the man who brought salvation through your pain
He must mean everything to end it all this shameful way

I started here so young and helped you get along
Just did it for the love, and people healed through us
Don't live your life in vain, don't take it out on me
You're cracked, so just remember, I'm not your enemy
I don't deserve to fall this way, by a man who felt Betrayed

I felt so down now you're around to rescue me
Every note and every word i'm listening
Sometimes problems seem too deep to take
Sometimes I cry thinking my future looks so bleak
Finally, together we were destined, I know what's best for us in the end
Someone hear me, someone stop me, someone listen, why aren't you listening?

    (So)
You know what, you can't come floppin' that shit
If you run up, guess what, I'm stoppin' that shit
Still can't figure out nothin' or find flaws
Take the Pauls, better recognize bodies on the lawn

If you see such, might touch, home is the crutch
Roll the dutch with the bunch of we never have enough
Hold steady for the lyrical melee with delicate rhymes
An alphabetical order of one at a time

Should we break it up? Welcome the true while you fearin' it
And lookin' at the youth, whatcha gonna do? They hearin' it
Don't hate your face, still in the air lookin' at
You made me twist you up your all crooked now

Take a step back sucker, you get spit on
Payback comin' from all of those you shit on
    (Why?)

Whatcha gonna do? I got mad crew
You on the camera, guess what? I see you
    (So what?)
Whatcha gonna do? I got mad crew
You on the camera, bitch what? I see you

Check the mic cord every place I roam
And all the bullshit cease when I pull my chrome
It's automatic, drastic the way I blow you
    Incredible and unforgettable

I make you bounce to the rhythm, what counts I hit 'em
Straight ounce of venom and great amounts of visim
I'm the psycho lookin' for the prey
All the way out in the boondocks with the AK on
    (Why?)

Whatcha gonna do? I got mad crew
You on the camera, guess what? I see you
    (So what?)
Whatcha gonna do? I got mad crew
You on the camera, bitch what? I see you

The hand on the clock's tickin', the plot thickens

Hit the floor rhyme to even the score, people
We'll be hearin' about the way ya were in folklore

'cause MC's amaze and the people you knew were rippin' up
Rollin' em up with weed then spliff 'em I got the need
Say what, what, you want somethin' to pump up
Jump up just like a record that cut up

Try to nut up think it's funny
I'll wrap your ass up like the mummy
With rhymes, sucka's they run from me
Wanna get away, that's a better way, ya heard

    (Why?)
Tell me the word and kilts comin' with poison verbs
And vocab sucka's be leavin' out on the slab

    (Why?)
Whatcha gonna do? I got mad crew
You on the camera, guess what? I see you
    (So what?)
Whatcha gonna do? I got mad crew
You on the camera, bitch what? I see you

Whatcha gonna do? I got mad crew
You on the camera, guess what? I see you
    (So what?)
Whatcha gonna do? I got mad crew
You on the camera, bitch what? I see you

    So what? So what?
    So what? So what?

    Black Moon
  • From the linear notes, lead singer Chino Moreno: "This song was the very last thing recorded for the White Pony sessions. I remember getting a call from B Real (from Cypress Hill) asking me if I had finished recording the lines he had asked me to speak for the song Rock Superstar. I told him that I was finished, though I hadn't actually gotten around to doing it. He said, 'Cool, I'm right around the corner from the studio. I'll swing by and pick it up.' So I quickly ran into the vocal booth and asked Terry to hit 'record.' I recorded around two minutes of me rambling on a DAT and literally ejected the tape as he walked in. Anyway, that same day I asked him if he would be down to record some vocals for a song Crook and I had been working on titled Black Moon, and it would be sort of like a trade for the thing I had done for Rock Superstar. I ended up feeling kind of bad because the original version of Black Moon was like five long verses. So he sat wrote three full pages of lyrics compared to my couple sentences. Some trade. I just recently got a copy of what we did and edited it down for this record. Cypress has and always will be some of my favorite rap sh*t. I felt truly honored for the opportunity to work with B. I want to do it again."

    Father Sun Lyrics

I sing this song to the rising sun
I sing this song when the day is done
But I can't wait for the morning come
Sing my song to my Father Sun

    Hey
    Hey

    Nothin' comes more guaranteed
    Guarateed eternity
There before and when I'm gone
    Father Sun keeps shining on

    Sun, sun, sun
    Waiting on the light
    Sun, sun, sun
    Do me right

Heal my body, warm my soul
Brown my skin to a golden glow
Simple song and it's simply sung
    Ode to my Father Sun

    Sun, sun, sun
    Bring on the light
    Sun, sun, sun
You got to do me right

Bring on fire in the sky
    Bringin' on the light
    Sun, sun, sun
    Now when you gonna come

    Hey
    Hey

Beam of light or grain of sand
For every woman, child or man
Power of this world for free
    With solar electricity

    Sun, sun, sun
    Waiting on the light
    Sun, sun, sun
You got to do me right

Bring on fire in the sky
    Bringin' on the light
    Sun, sun, sun
    When you gonna come

    Sun, sun, sun

    Father Sun
  • This duet with Sammy's son Aaron Hagar is a track from Sammy Hagar and Friends, the vocalist's first-ever Rock collaborations album. He told Jam! Music the inspiration for this song. "I go to this little island called Taha'a and there's about 60 people on it," he explained. "I said, 'Okay, I'm taking my family the day after Christmas. No guitar. No tape recorders. No music.' ... I was there about four days and every night at dinner they'd bring in these people from these islands. A lady beating on a drum - boom, boom, boom - and these Tahitian ukuleles and these weird string instruments and they would sing the most beautiful music, French Polynesian music. Anyways, I got so damn inspired that I bought one of those instruments off a guy, 'cause you couldn't go anywhere to buy one, so I said, 'Just sell me your thing.' And I started writing on it and wrote the song called 'Father Sun.'"
  • Hagar told Jam Music how his son Aaron ended up singing on this song. " At 40 he decides now he's going to be a singer," he explained, "He just kills me 'cause he's such a great artist. He can sing. He can play instruments. He can paint ... He's really creative, paints, draws, sculpts, builds cars from scratch. So he can do anything but if he wants to pursue a musical career, he's got good talent. I asked him to do it."

    Do Da Da Lyrics

    Every time I'm falling down
    You take the repercussions
    Headaches and anxieties
    Advancing my frustrations

    Rush into my depression
    Sacrifice everything
    Waste with me into nothing
Well now you're stuck with me

Hand up your soul to my wrist
And I'll vow my trust to you
Moving on and I always thought
    I realized you've imagined
    You take the repercussions
    Headaches and anxieties
    Advancing my frustrations

    Rush into my depression
    Sacrifice everything
    Waste with me into nothing
Well now you're stuck with me

Hand up your soul to my wrist
And I'll vow my trust to you
Moving on and I always thought
    I realized you've imagined

    Do Da Da
  • This was originally called "Stuck with me," as those lyrics are repeated in the song. However, there was a mix-up while naming songs, and a song on the album Insomniac was given that name by accident. They decided that it suited that song better, so this one got the nonsense name "Do Da Da."
