Climbing Up The Walls Song Chart

This is the first track in the band's repertoire to be described as "scary." It relies heavily on strings, but not in the conventional way. The string section features 16 different violins playing quarter tones apart from each other.

Lead singer Thom Yorke: "This is about the unspeakable. Literally skull-crushing. I used to work in a mental hospital around the time that Care In The Community started, and we all just knew what was going to happen. And it's one of the scariest things to happen in this country, because a lot of them weren't just harmless... It was hailing violently when we recorded this. It seemed to add to the mood."

More from Yorke: "Some people can't sleep with the curtains open in case they see the eyes they imagine in their heads every night burning through the glass. Lots of people have panic buttons fitted in their bedrooms so they can reach over and set the alarm off without disturbing the intruder. This song is about the cupboard monster." Radiohead recorded the album in the mansion of actress Jane Seymour, who was busy filming her show Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. Ed O'Brien felt that the gothical mood of this track was the result of recording in its library. The Cure also recorded their 1996 Wild Mood Swings album in Seymour's mansion.

The phrase "Climbing up the walls" means being in a state of agitation through stress or worry.

Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood sometimes uses a radio when they perform this, tuning it to different stations during the song. (thanks, Bertrand - Paris, France, for above 2)

The string coda at the end was largely inspired by an interest the band had in modern Polish composer Krzystof Penderecki, whose works also feature on the soundtrack to Stanley Kubrick's The Shining.

The band's Dave Sitek told NME: "The 'I keep telling myself...' line means that it might not be true. Everyone goes through that, on multiple levels. There's a lot of doubt floating around. A Better Tomorrow Song Chart

The title track of Wu-Tang Clan's sixth album shares its name with a song they featured on their 1997 sophomore LP, Wu-Tang Forever. The reference in both instances is to John Woo's 1986 crime film, A Better Tomorrow.

RZA explained the album title to Billboard magazine : "John Woo has always been an inspiration to me," he said. "But it wasn't just in reference to that film, because that film is actually a very violent film, very specific about the police corruption and things of that nature. My concept of a better tomorrow, moreso, is what the sentence says itself. We need a better tomorrow."

"I'm a vegetarian. Why? Because no animal needs to die for me to live," RZA added. "I'm into renewable energy, I'm into getting rid of the plastic bottles and coming with another form of drinking our water. I'm into the people respecting each other. We don't got to like each other but respect each other for everything you are, whether you're black, brown, white or red, homosexual, woman, whatever it is. We gotta have respect for each other first."

This samples Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes' 1975 single, "Wake Up Everybody."

The song's music video compiles protest footage from Ferguson, Missouri and New York City as well as soundbites from President Obama speaking on race relations in America. "This visual was created by Wu-Tang Clan in the hopes of inspiring change and promoting unity throughout the world, The Wu-Tang Clan said in a press release. They added a quote from Martin Luther King, Jr: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

Asked by NME what his biggest regret about the A Better Tomorrow album was, RZA replied: "I tried to get James Blake to do a hook on 'A Better Tomorrow' but we couldn't make it happen in time."

The pair did previously work together on Blake's Overgrown track "Take A Fall For Me."

With music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, this song debuted in the 1977 Broadway musical Annie as the cast of orphans lament their struggles laboring for the unscrupulous Miss Hannigan. The play follows Annie's adventure as she meets the wealthy Daddy Warbucks, who tries to help her find her real parents.

In a Blender interview, Strouse notes how this song stands out from the rest of the Annie repertoire: "Most of the songs in Annie are very 1920s, more upbeat, but 'Hard Knock Life' had to reflect the fact that the kids in the story were underprivileged and exploited. So I wrote a very angry, angular melody, quite unlike the other songs."

Jay-Z spun this into the innovative rap song, "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)," in 2002, where he likened the hardships of the orphans to the struggles of kids growing up in the ghetto.

Playing the youngest orphan, Molly, Danielle Brisebois leads the chorus on this track, which was sampled for Jay-Z's version. While the song became a gold-certified single, all Brisebois was left with was sour grapes. Because she was paid a flat fee when she performed the song for the musical, she doesn't earn any royalties from it. "As a result, I’m singing the lead vocal on a #1 song but not making a penny out of it," she said.

Annie was adapted into a feature film in 1982 with Aileen Quinn in the lead role, while Toni Ann Gisondi played Molly. Albert Finney and Carol Burnett starred as Daddy Warbucks and Miss Hannigan, respectively.

Produced by Jay-Z and Will Smith, this hit the big screen again in 2014 with Quvenzhane Wallis as Annie, Jamie Foxx as Will Stacks (Daddy Warbucks), and Cameron Diaz as Miss Hannigan. Nicolette Pierini filled the role of Molly, updated as Mia.

For the 2014 film, the lyrics to this song were altered to reflect the children being foster kids instead of orphans. Jay-Z's version is prominently featured in the movie's trailer.

Aside from four new songs ("The City's Yours," "Opportunity", "Who Am I", and "Moonquake Lake"), the soundtrack borrows the original Broadway tunes, with an arrangement by Australian pop singer Sia and Greg Kurstin.

The lyrics reference New York City's Chrysler Building: "You'll stay up till this dump shines like the top of the Chrysler Building." Designed by William Van Alen, the Art Deco-style skyscraper was briefly the tallest building in the world (1,046 ft) until it was surpassed by the Empire State Building (1,454 ft). Completed in 1930, it would have been three years old during Annie's 1933 setting.

The orphans also suggest making Miss Hannigan drink a Mickey Finn, which is slang for a drug-laced beverage. The name was allegedly taken from Chicago bar owner Michael "Mickey" Finn, who was prosecuted for slipping mickies to his patrons so he could rob them.

I Can't Dance Song Chart

Genesis wrote this song in the studio in one session. "Once we started we kept going 'til we finished it," Phil Collins said in the documentary Genesis: Sum of the Parts. "It didn't take a ridiculous time to write."

The lyrics are made up of bits that Phil Collins improvised in the studio. When they started working on it, they decided to just write spontaneously to keep from over-thinking it. This explains the rather disjointed story about a guy who can't dance and is "just standing here selling."

Helmed by their go-to director Jim Yukich, the video created a lasting image thanks to the "silly walk" the three band members did. This walk was something Phil Collins did from time to time - he got the idea for it when he attended drama school and noticed that the worst dancers would always lead with the hand and foot on the same side. There is a twist ending in the video when at the end, Phil Collins does some Michael Jackson dance moves and an impressive little tap routine.

In our interview with Tony Banks , he explained that having a lead singer who was comfortable in front of the camera made the music videos much easier to create. "It gave us a chance to explore some quite fun ideas," he said. "When the lyric had an obvious way to go - with something like "I Can't Dance" or "No Son of Mine" - you could do it and express it quite well."

Dylan recorded this in New York City with a talented group of studio musicians including Al Kooper and Charlie Daniels. Ron Cornelius, who played guitar on these sessions, told us that Dylan would play down the song, but as soon as they started recording he would play it in a completely different tempo, which threw off the musicians but forced them to play to their strengths. These sessions lasted about 3 weeks, with the best songs going on this album and many of the others ending up on his 1973 self-titled album Dylan.

Ramblin' Man Song Chart

This is based on a 1951 Hank Williams song of the same title. It's about a guy whose travels take him to many places, and he takes life as it comes.

Allmans guitarist Dickey Betts wrote this in the house the band shared in Macon, Georgia. Betts sang lead on this track.

This was The Allman's first top 10 hit. The song came out after the death of guitarist and driving force Duane Allman. Although the band lost a major part of their sound, they showed they could still be successful without Duane. (thanks, Dee - Northfield, IL)
