Slow Like Honey Lyrics

Slow Like Honey
  • In the song, Fiona speaks of her "big secret." She has explained it as being in reference to the way other students viewed her during high school. It was Fiona's response to the question of "What's the big secret?"
  • Apple: "When I was in high school a lot of guys didn't... a lot of guys always... this is what I heard the most -- okay... 'What the hell are you thinking?' 'What are you thinking about?' 'God, you're always staring off into space.' And, like, no one would come near me because of that and I think that people think that if you're silent then you're like, snobby or something, you know? Or you're depressed. You know? I was just contemplative. What can I say?"

    Wiggle Lyrics

    Hey, yo, Jason
    Say somethin' to her
    Holla at her

    I got one question
How do you fit all that, in them jeans?

You know what to do with that big fat butt

    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Just a little bit

    Patty cake patty cake
    With no hands
Got me in this club making wedding plans
If I take pictures while you do your dance
I can make you famous on Instagram
    Hot damn it
    Your booty like two planets
Go head, and go ham sandwich
    Woah, I can't stand it

'Cause you know what to do with that big fat butt

    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Just a little bit

    Cadillac, Cadillac, pop that trunk
    Let's take a shot
    Alley oops that dunk
Tired of working that 9 to 5
Oh baby let me come and change your life
    Hot damn it
    Your booty like two planets
Go head, and go ham sandwich
    Woah, I can't stand it

'Cause you know what to do with that big fat butt

    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Just a little bit

Shake what your mama gave you
    Misbehave you
I just wanna strip you, dip you, flip you, bubble bath you
    What they do
Taste my rain drop, ok boo
Now what you're willing, what you wanting, what you may do
Completely sample rated, til my deeply penetrated
Then I take I out, and wipe it off
Eat it, ate it, love it, hate it
Overstated, underrated, everywhere I been king
You wiggle, wiggle for the D, O, double G, a king

    Come on baby
Turn around (turn around, turn around, turn around)
    You're a star girl
Take a bow (take a bow, take a bow, take a bow)
It's just one thing that's killing me
How you get that in them jeans?

You know what to do with that big fat butt

    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Just a little bit
    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Now make it clap
    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Now make it clap
    Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
    Make it clap
    Now make it clap
    Make it clap

Damn baby you got a bright future behind you

    Wiggle
  • This paean to a stripper with a big butt features Snoop Dogg. It is one of five collaborations on Talk Dirty. Hooking up with other well-known recording artists wasn't part of Derulo's original game plan, but the singer told OK magazine that he's more than pleased with the outcome. "Everything happened organically," he said. "Like with the song 'Wiggle' I was like, 'It would be so dope if Snoop was on the track.' Then I saw him at the All-Star game and I was like, 'I have this track I want you to hear.' He was like, 'Oh, man, this is crazy. I'll send it back to you within 48 hours.' It all happens differently."
  • Derulo performed the song for the first time live at the Valentine's Crush concert at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on February 14, 2014.
  • The Colin Tilley-directed twerk-fest video finds Derulo engaging in copious amounts of wiggling. The singer is seen performing the tune with the help of Snoop and special guest Ne-Yo, as he lets a horde of people in on the wiggle action. Derulo said: "When we were making the video I wanted to capture the fun and light nature of the song, as well as highlight the dancing and swag that the song represents."
  • Several writers put their pens to this song. Along with Derulo, it was written by Eric Frederic, Jacob Kasher, Sean Douglas, John Ryan, Joe Spargur, Axident, and Calvin Broadus (Snoop Dogg).
  • Producer Ricky Reed brought in fun elements like peanut wrappers, hand clappers, toy flutes and percussive instruments to support the novelty lyrics and amplify the comical nature of the song. The toy flute melody provides the key instrumental hook for the song and plays most effectively off the key lyrical hook ("wiggle, wiggle, wiggle") during the simple chorus.
  • This song is a blend of several different genres/influences: hip hop/rap, R&B, pop, trap and - the most unique - nursery rhyme. The verse sections are modeled after "Patty Cake" and the first references the classic nursery rhyme in the lyrics:

    Patty cake, Patty cake
    With no hands
Got me in this club making wedding plans
If I take pictures while you do your dance
I can make you famous on Instagram
  • A gracious host, Derulo allows his guest Snoop Dogg to close out the song with one last butt joke: "Damn, baby, you got a bright future behind you." As the backing music is dropped out, the line stands out even more.
  • The title lyric should be unforgettable - it's repeated 57 times throughout the song!
  • "Wiggle" joins the ranks of many other butt odes, including Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls, "Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back," Black Eyed Peas' "My Humps" and Trace Adkins' "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk," to name a few.

    Friday On My Mind Lyrics

    Monday mornin' feels so bad
    Ev'rybody seems to nag me
    Comin' Tuesday I feel better
Even my old man looks good
    Wed'sday just don't go
    Thursday goes too slow
I've got Friday On My Mind

Gonna have fun in the city
Be with my girl, she's so pretty
    She looks fine tonight
She is out of sight to me
Tonight I'll spend my bread, tonight
    I'll lose my head, tonight
I've got to get to night
Monday I'll have Friday on my mind

Do the five day grind once more
I know of nothin' else that bugs me
More than workin' for the rich man
Hey! I'll change that scene one day
Today I might be mad, tomorrow I'll be glad
'Cause I'll have Friday on my mind

Gonna have fun in the city
Be with my girl, she's so pretty
    She looks fine tonight.
She is out of sight to me
Tonight I'll spend my bread, tonight

    Friday On My Mind
  • This song was co-written by Easybeats guitarists George Young and Harry Vanda, who were the primary songwriters in the group (Young is the older brother of Malcolm and Angus Young from AC/DC). Vanda described the song as reminiscent of the days where the band members lived in hostels in Sydney as "New Australians," where they hung out for the end of the week because of the fun it brought.
  • Previously, the band's main songwriting team had been George Young and lead singer Stevie Wright. Vanda and Young produced The Easybeats' later albums and after the group broke up in 1969, formed their own group, Flash And The Pan, which had a few successes during the late '70s and early '80s. They also continued writing and producing hits for other artists like AC/DC and John Paul Young. (thanks, Melanie - Adelaide, Australia, for above 2)
  • This song has quite a buildup. After the opening cymbal crash, its just a staccato guitar for the next 20 seconds underscoring Stevie Wright's vocal where he runs through the days of the week, explaining why Monday-Thursday don't excite him. The bass finally comes in as he gets closer to the weekend. Finally, 30 seconds into the song, we hit Friday and the drums come in to play.

This energy carries into the chorus, where we hear about the plans for the weekend. But then it's back to Monday, and we do the "five-day drag once more." This time, however, the tempo is faster and he's even more optimistic, knowing that his time will come. The second chorus is even more energetic and repeats to close out the song. All of this is packed into 2:47, making it one of the more distinctive and energetic hits of the era.
  • The Easybeats were already huge in their native Australia when they recorded this song, but this was their first hit outside of that country. After scoring several Aussie hits in 1965, they got an international distribution deal in 1966. In the UK, "Come And See Her" was their first single, and in the US, "Make You Feel Alright (Women)" was chosen. Their second single in each territory was "Friday On My Mind," which was their breakthrough (the song was also a monster in Australia, where it was #1 for eight weeks).

The group was not able to capitalize, falling victim to drug abuse, management struggles, and internal strife. It was six month before their next single, "Who'll Be The One," appeared, and listeners were underwhelmed.
They never had another US hit and in the UK managed just one more: "Hello, How are You," which made #20 in 1968.
  • The group recorded this song in London with producer Shel Talmy, who is famous for his work with The Who.
  • David Bowie did a popular cover on his 1973 album Pin Ups, and Peter Frampton recorded a version for his 1981 album Breaking All the Rules. The only artist to take it back to the charts is Gary Moore, who reached #26 UK with his 1987 rendition.
  • "Friday on My Mind" has been on the minds of Australians since 1967, earning the #1 position on APRA's list of Ten Best Australian Songs.
  • This was also released as a single by Australian singer Peter Doyle in 1976. He produced an incredibly punchy version, but it was never a hit. (thanks, Gwyneth - Wales)

  • Liam Finn begun this song before his 2008 solo debut, album I'll Be Lightning. It only came to life once the New Zealand singer-songwriter moved to Brooklyn after touring 2011's FOMO. "I found myself living a nocturnal experience, riding my bike in the middle of the night as fast as I could, being quite reckless really," he told Billboard magazine. "This song was a product of that kind of attitude… I was kind of imagining myself in this post apocalyptic world that always exists in the nighttime."

    One Little Victory Lyrics

    A certain measure of innocence
    Willing to appear naive
    A certain degree of imagination
    A measure of make-believe

    A certain degree of surrender
To the forces of light and heat
    A shot of satisfaction
In a willingness to risk defeat

    Celebrate the moment
As it turns into one more
    Another chance at victory
    Another chance to score

    The measure of the moment
    Is a difference of degrees
    Just One Little Victory
    A spirit breaking free

    One little victory
    The greatest act can be
    One little victory

    A certain measure of righteousness
    A certain amount of force
    A certain degree of determination
    Daring on a different course

    A certain amount of resistance
To the forces of the light and love
    A certain measure of tolerance
    A willingness to rise above

    One little victory
    One little victory
    One little victory
    One little victory

    Celebrate the moment
As it turns into one more
    Another chance at victory
    Another chance to score

    The measure of the moment
    Is a difference of degrees
    Just one little victory

    One Little Victory
  • This is about how it's the little accomplishments in life that can be the most rewarding and satisfying, that giving it your best shot is the innermost fulfilling achievement in life. It's all about challenging yourself within rather than measuring yourself against others. Be yourself and be real. (thanks, Mike - Mountlake Terrace, Washington - USA)
  • Both the original version and an instrumental edit were included in the in-game soundtrack of Need for Speed - Hot Pursuit 2.
  • Neil Peart, Modern Drummer, Sep. 2002: "I'd been working on that tune and came up with that double bass part. I thought it worked perfectly for the end of the song. But Geddy said, 'That's a great part. You ought to open the song with it. That would just kill.' Frankly, I wouldn't have done it that way-I don't think I would have been so assertive-but Geddy suggested it and I said, 'Okay, I'll try it.'"
  • Geddy Lee, Rockline, May 13, 2002: "One Little Victory was kind of a triumphant song for us, in the lyrics and the message that the song is about. There was something about that song that seemed just so darned appropriate for opening the record, and also being the first release for us in such a long time. That song started as a collection of jams that Alex had done late at night, just a collection of guitar riffs all linked together in a really kind of a typically-Alex-nonsensical way. I came in the next day after he'd done these things, and just kind of scratched my head but really liked a lot of it. At the same time, there were some lyrics there that Neil had written, which were one of the few lyrics that immediately I just loved, I didn't want to touch a word, it was all great. And so I played with it for a couple of days, started using the digital equipment to manipulate the riffs and add my bass to it, and start writing some vocal melodies. And before I know it I had a song, or what seemed like a song. And then I ran it by Mr. Lerxst here, and he seemed to really dig it. So that kind of became a song and it didn't change much after that."

You let the wind take us down
You let the storm come and wipe us out
I saw the fox stomp you out
I saw the ocean come take you under

I have my bullet stuck in your mouth
I have you screaming for your last breath, yeah
I shoved the boat deep inside
I still waiting for the devour

You take the High Road down
I take the ground below you
You take the high road down
    I take the ground below

You are the one nobody likes
You are the plague that was brought here by rats
I like to hunt you, lets fight
Watching you fade out and never come back

You take the high road down
I take the ground below you
You take the high road down
    I take the ground below

You take the high road down

Kelliher recalled to Artist Direct : "I was sitting in my hotel room in Luxembourg because we had a couple of days off there. It's a very simple, easy, and heavy riff. I didn't think it would catch on with anybody else, but Brann was like, 'I hear some really cool vocals there!'"

    Feels Like Forever Lyrics

Did you ever contemplate when all is lost you hesitate
    And nothing seems the same?
Have you ever hit your face and touched disgrace,
Decisions made, a picture with no words?

(Can you hold on? One more day?)

    Say
    You're okay,
I'm afraid that tomorrow is just too far
    Away.
    Fight the pain
It just Feels Like Forever is crashing down on me
    (Down on me, me, me)

They will fall, what's wrong with pain?
It heals the soul and turn the page to face another day.
Let me know that you will wait
And I will pay for my mistakes and feel the sun again

    (Can you hold on?)
    Say
    You're okay,
I'm afraid that tomorrow is just too far
    Away.
    Fight the pain
It just feels like forever is crashing down on me

    Don't break down.
    Time will heal oh.
    Just don't let go
One day we shall ? Again

    Say
    You're okay,
I'm afraid that tomorrow is just too far
    Away.
    Fight the pain
It just feels like forever (feels like forever)

    Feels Like Forever
  • Vocalist Austin Carlile told Kerrang! this is the track on Restoring Force that he is most proud of writing. He explained: "It's one of my favorite songs because it came from such a real place. It was written right there in the studio, and it was all about ourselves and what we were going through. At that point, we felt a bit scared and backed into a corner. It felt like there was so much pressure on us. We wrote the song to try to alleviate those feedings and cut the stress away."
  • The song's music video was directed by Nathan William and filmed in Los Angeles. "In the studio, 'Feels Like Forever' was the first song we demoed, and ended up being the last song we finished recording," said Austin Carlile. "It fought back. It's a song that everyone in the band has a personal attachment to for various reasons. Bringing it to life visually and in our own backyard of Southern California was a great experience. Sand in my shoes still and all."

    This world
    This world is cold
    But you don't
    You don't have to go
You're feeling sad, you're feeling lonely,
And no one seems to care
You're mother's gone and your father hits you
    This pain you cannot bear

But we all bleed the same way as you do
And we all have the same things to go through

Hold On if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know

    Your days
You say they're way too long
    And your nights
    You can't sleep at all
    Hold on
And you're not sure what you're waiting for,
But you don't want to no more
And you're not sure what you're looking for,
But you don't want to no more

But we all bleed the same way as you do
And we all have the same things to go through

Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know
Don't stop looking, you're one step closer
Don't stop searching, it's not over
    Hold on

    What are you looking for?
    What are you waiting for?
Do you know what you're doing to me?
    Go ahead,
    What are you waiting for?

    Hold On
  • This is an anti-suicide song. It is a response to all the kids who wrote letters to the band explaining how bad their lives are and how they feel like sometimes there's nothing to do but just give up and cave in to suicide. The band urged these kids to hold on when their world feels like it's not going to get any better, because there's so much to live for. Suicide may seem like the answer at the time, but it accomplishes nothing in the long run. (thanks, Amanda - Brewster, NY and Jesi - Hollywood, FL)
  • A suicide prevention group helped them put together the video. It showed real people who were effected by suicides.
  • While promoting the album, Joel explained the song's significance: "Every night on tour at least one, two, sometimes 10 kids tell me how they deal with suicide, like that they're thinking about it. I couldn't sleep at night 'cause all of these kids, they're fans I care about, and i don't want 'em to kill themselves, so I wrote 'Hold on' and put it on the record. That was like the only way I could do something about it. Our fans are the most important thing to me and this whole band, and there's so many kids out there that I meet and that I care about and I only get like two minutes with them and then I have to go on."

Benji added: "And you hope that you said the right thing."
  • The title is repeated 11 times throughout the song.

    He Is Risen Lyrics

    He Is Risen
  • Paul Baloche wrote this celebration of Christ's resurrection with British worship songwriter Graham Kendrick in 2013 whilst he was attending a Missions Conference in the South of England. He told NewReleaseTuesday the story of the song: "Graham Kendrick and I have been friends for several years and have tried to write together when we have the chance," he said. "He drove down and we spent the day purposely trying to write a resurrection song with the intent of taking the Gospels, and reading through the Gospel accounts of the Resurrection and they are all similar but worded slightly different. We wrote down some of the key phrases and wanted the verses to re-tell the story."

"The singer, the worshiper, the person in the congregation when they look up at the screen is reminded and it's almost like reading Scripture," Baloche continued. "Verse one begins painting the picture, 'early morning, break of dawn, stumbling to the tomb, standing awestruck, wondering who rolled away the stone, and as they looked they saw an angel clothed in white who said don't be afraid, He is alive.' Our response as the congregation is to this reality to not be afraid, He is alive is 'He is risen, Hallelujah, let the whole world sing, Christ is Risen.' Verse two is intentionally is about from that point on, how does this affect us now? How is the resurrection of Christ relevant to us? The invitation is 'sing, with all creation sing, of a world made new, in His life we too may live, bursting from the tomb.'"

"Using that metaphor that the reason He was raised from the dead, it was not just a historical event that happened, it has a relevant, and present day effect on our lives," he concluded. "It has the potential if we choose to put our faith in Christ, and in His finished work and go. Paul unpacks our new life, our new creation, an opportunity, all things are passed away and the life I lead is the hope of glory. That's really verse two is the relevance to us in the year 2014."

    Clocks
  • Like many Coldplay songs, this is about love. The lyrics are about being in a conflicted, but very intense relationship as precious time slips away.
  • Lead singer Chris Martin came up with the lyrics and the piano riff shortly before Coldplay released the album. Since they didn't have much time, they put it aside and planned to work on it for their next album. When Martin's friend heard the demo, he convinced them to do whatever was necessary to record it for A Rush Of Blood To The Head, especially since the song deals with the importance of time.
  • This won the Grammy for 2003 Record Of The Year, beating out "Hey Ya" by Outkast and "Crazy In Love" by Beyoncé. In accepting the award, lead singer Chris Martin dedicated it to the late Johnny Cash and to US presidential candidate John Kerry, "Who hopefully will be your president someday."
  • Despite the modest chart position in the US, this song was very popular there, as it appeared in television themes, movies, promotional films, and other commercial outlets. (thanks, Bertrand - Paris, France)
  • This plays over the ending credits of the 2003 movie Confidence. (thanks, Nayef - Golden, CO)
  • The song's pulsing, cyclical riff was inspired, according to Martin, by the band Muse.
  • This was voted by BBC6 Music's listeners the best song between 2003-2012 in a poll to celebrate the radio station's tenth anniversary. Arctic Monkeys' debut hit "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" was runner-up.

    We've Seen Birds Lyrics

    We've Seen Birds
  • Smoke Fairies is a British blues and folk musical duo comprising Katherine Blamire and Jessica Davies. Their 2012 Blood Speaks album sold poorly, despite being critically acclaimed. A disillusioned Davies told Blamire that she felt the pair had gone as far as they could go and didn't feel that Smoke Fairies should continue. It didn't take long for her to change her mind and Davies wrote this musical apology to Blamire. "I just wanted to say sorry to her – sorry I scared you like that," she told The Independent. "We realised this is our life. It was my way of saying, 'I'm back on board, let's go for it.'"
  • The song's music video finds the pair hand-making a giant bird sculpture out of wood which then takes flight from the top of a hill. "We wanted something fantastical and magical to represent the joy of the journey," Blamire told The Independent. "I guess we had come back round to seeing it as something really great that we were doing."
