I Can't Dance Lyrics

Hot sun beating down
Burning my feet just walking around.

Hot sun making me sweat
'Gators getting close, hasn't got me yet

I can't dance, I can't talk.
The only thing about me is the way I walk.
I can't dance, I can't sing
I'm just standing here selling everything.

Blue jeans sitting on the beach,
Her dog's talking to me, but she's out of reach.

She's got a body under that shirt,
But all she wants to do is rub my face in the dirt.

Cause, I can't dance, I can't talk.
The only thing about me is the way I walk.
No, I can't dance, I can't sing
I'm just standing here selling.

And checking everything is in place,
You never know who's looking on.

Young punk spilling beer on my shoes,
Fat guy's talking to me trying to steal my blues.

Thick smoke, see her smiling through.
I never thought so much could happen just shooting pool.

But I can't dance, I can't talk.
The only thing about me is the way I walk.
I can't dance, I can't sing
I'm just standing here selling

And checking everything is in place
You never know who's looking on
A perfect body with a perfect face

  • Genesis wrote this song in the studio in one session. "Once we started we kept going 'til we finished it," Phil Collins said in the documentary Genesis: Sum of the Parts. "It didn't take a ridiculous time to write."
  • The lyrics are made up of bits that Phil Collins improvised in the studio. When they started working on it, they decided to just write spontaneously to keep from over-thinking it. This explains the rather disjointed story about a guy who can't dance and is "just standing here selling."
  • Helmed by their go-to director Jim Yukich, the video created a lasting image thanks to the "silly walk" the three band members did. This walk was something Phil Collins did from time to time - he got the idea for it when he attended drama school and noticed that the worst dancers would always lead with the hand and foot on the same side. There is a twist ending in the video when at the end, Phil Collins does some Michael Jackson dance moves and an impressive little tap routine.
  • In our interview with Tony Banks , he explained that having a lead singer who was comfortable in front of the camera made the music videos much easier to create. "It gave us a chance to explore some quite fun ideas," he said. "When the lyric had an obvious way to go - with something like "I Can't Dance" or "No Son of Mine" - you could do it and express it quite well."

    Hurricane Lyrics

Leeches, you're sucking up the life
Creatures, you're not afraid to fight
We're not letting you steal what molded us
If you only knew you're made of dust

    We are not your property
    See with our own clarity
Ears close, eyes open, voice won't be broken
    Won't dance within your walls

You'll find us running around every town, unchained and all your bounds
Everyone's used to crowd, throwing your words to the ground
Let do this all our own way
Can't change the storm of a Hurricane
We'll dance to our own beat, won't sing to your melody
We will not care if we're the only ones swimming in the sea
Let do this all our own way
Can't change the storm of a hurricane

Made me care what you think
    Only made our bodies sink
Couldn't continue playing the game right
Running with you is your fake right
Tell us how it's good for us again
Raise your brow, get it out and comprehend
This is not working, my lungs are choking
    No longer at your call

You'll find us running around every town, unchained and all your bounds
Everyone's used to crowd, throwing your words to the ground
Let do this all our own way
Can't change the storm of a hurricane
We'll dance to our own beat, won't sing to your melody
We will not care if we're the only ones swimming in the sea
Let do this all our own way
Can't change the storm of a hurricane

Don't go change your fold, what happened to be mold
Shaking of what we were told, not do your own
Let do this all our way
Can't change the storm of a hurricane

    We are not your property
    See with our own clarity
Ears close, eyes open, voice won't be broken
    Won't dance within your walls

You'll find us running around every town, unchained and all your bounds

  • New York-based MisterWives came together after frontwoman Mandy Lee decided she needed a band to give her songs some additional instrumentation. "I remember my old manager told me about backing tracks, and I was like, 'Wait, what?,'" she told Billboard magazine. "For me, that was something I was never going to touch."

Lee hooked up with Etienne Bowler, Will Hehir, Marc Campbell and Dr. Blum and the quintet came up with a gender-corrected version of the Mormon term "sister wife" for the group's name.
  • This is a track from MisterWives' debut album Our Own House. "We hope 'Hurricane' is an anthem for those who believe in individuality and don't give a f--k about what others think," Lee told Billboard.

    Suspicious Minds Lyrics

    We're caught in a trap
    I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby

    Why can't you see
    What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

    We can't go on together
    With Suspicious Minds (suspicious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
    On suspicious minds

So, if an old friend I know
    Stops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?

    Here we go again
    Asking where I've been
You can't see these tears are real
    I'm crying (Yes I'm crying)

    We can't go on together
    With suspicious minds (suspicious minds)
And be can't build our dreams
    On suspicious minds

    Oh let our love survive
Or dry the tears from your eyes
    Let's don't let a good thing die
    When honey, you know
    I've never lied to you
    Mmm yeah, yeah

    We're caught in a trap
    I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby

    Why can't you see
    What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

Don't you know I'm caught in a trap
    I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Don't you know I'm caught in a trap
    I can't walk out

  • This was the last #1 hit for Elvis during his lifetime. A remixed version of "A Little Less Conversation" hit #1 in the UK in 2002.
  • Memphis singer Mark James wrote this. He recorded and released his own version, but it didn't go anywhere. Memphis Soul producer Chips Moman brought this to Presley in 1969, and Elvis immediately fell in love with it and decided he could turn it into a hit, even though it had flopped for James.
  • This was recorded between 4-7 in the morning, during the landmark Memphis session that helped Elvis reclaim his title of "The King."
  • This was a big comeback song for Elvis. It was seven years since his last #1 hit.
  • Elvis' publishing company, along with his manager Col. Tom Parker, tried to get their usual cut of the royalties from this and threatened to stop the recording if they didn't. Elvis insisted on recording the song regardless.
  • This song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.
  • Artists to cover this song include Dwight Yoakam, Waylon Jennings, The Heptones, Candi Staton (#31 UK), B.J. Thomas and even The Fine Young Cannibals, whose 1985 version not only hit #8 in the UK, but was bizarrely referenced on the American TV show Psych, when Shawn tells his partner Gus: "Don't be Fine Young Cannibals cover of 'Suspicious Minds.' We're going to find her."
  • In the UK, Elvis had a hit with this song three times. First in 1969 when it was originally released, then in 2001 when a live version recorded at The International Hotel, Las Vegas, in August 1970 was issued and went to #15, then in 2007 when it was re-issued to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Elvis' death, going to #11.
  • Dennis Quaid and Elizabeth Mitchell dance to this in the 2000 sci-fi drama Frequency.

    Pease Porridge Lyrics

My name, my name, my name is the Pasta
Now I like, I like I like to plug the real thing
So loose, so loose, so loose with the tap dance
The funk, the funk, funky funky stuff I bring
My tribe, my tribe, my tribe is known as Native Tongues
Consists, consists, consists of Jungle, Quest and others
Get played, get played, played a lot on radio
And also, and also, and also by some foul brothers
The Pease, the Pease the Pease Porridge never failed
It kept, it kept us calm, our stylin' merry
But late, but lately loonies acting real bold
Can't sip in luxury my apple cranberry
Girls watch, and watch, and watch I dance the big tut
Our home, our home our homeboys has to plan tricks
Don't real, don't real, don't realise the Native Tongue
Is rollin' strong and we're startin' in the megamix

Question, and that's if only I can ask this question
    Can I? (Yes you can!)
Why do people think just because we speak peace
    We can't blow no joints?
    (I-I-I don't know)

Mase, this is the ninth day I've reheated this porridge. You know it
    Keeps me peacefully, no?

Yeah, but my tolerance level has now peaked
And now it's time for some heads to get flown

We bring, we bring, we bring, we bring the peace of course
But pack a nine inside, inside my De La drawers
A picture, picture, picture, picture painted pink
Could turn to red, to red, to red in blooded quick
But in a single file my Native Tongue is calm
I'd rather, rather pass a brother a pound or palm
I kick, I kick, I kick a verse of unity
And shack, and shackle steps to the beat, beat
I click, I click the TV to the Simpsons
And sip the Porridge deep into my system
So mel, so mellow mode is my day mode
Inside the studio or on a road
The Shwing, the Shwingalo is the now step
It's murder if you bet cause you're life's jep
To praise, to praise the Soul is on a down drag
It's false, because I'll spray you with the Black Flag

    (Pease Porridge in the pot)
    (Pease Porridge in the pot)
    (Pease Porridge in the pot)

Can't stand, can't stand, can't stand the pop music
Brother, brother, brothers pop a lot of pow
Don't watch, don't watch, don't watch a lot of basketball
Don't und, don't understand the act of being foul
Hey D, hey D, hey DJ set the record up
It's time, it's time, it's time to tame the naughty pups
Throw on the Touching Fingers serenade
So we can throw our lemonade
In their face and kick their little butts

People wanna get ragged with the reruns
Me not, me not, me not scared to trudge a bit
They can't, they can't, they can't get close to none
I tap, I tap, I tap a dance war skit
The por, the por, the Porridge got crazy cold
We won't, we won't eat until the heads are flown
Take advantage to a cool one's peaceful ways
But when, but when we fly that head all the people say

Here in Frogland, we always eat our Porridge, cause it keeps us frogs
    Real peaceful like

In my land, my people adore Porridge. And I don't understand why De La
    Soul is so violent
And we are so peaceful, we sit by the camp fire and listen to our rituals, and
They are so violent. I don't understand
    I don't understand

    Pease Porridge
  • This song is based around a deceptively jaunty sample of American whistling and bone-playing recording artist Brothers Bones' "Black Eyed Susan Brown." You may know Brother Bones from his recording of the standard "Sweet Georgia Brown," which became internationally famous after being adopted as the theme song of the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team in 1952.

Other samples in the song include James Browns' "Make It Funky," the Headhunters' "God Made Me Funky" and Harrell & Sharon Lucky's "Pease Porridge Hot" and "Finger Fun."
  • The lyric finds De La Soul pointing out that just because they are laid-back, it doesn't mean they'll let any one walk over them. Trugoy the Dove explained to Melody Maker: "That song's just saying that if people want to test us, we're not gonna stand for it. Just 'cos we spoke about being peaceful and positive, it doesn't mean we're gonna let ourselves be trampled on. We will do whatever it takes to defend ourselves. There have been situations where people tried to test us, and we defended ourselves, and whether it was worse for us or for them, it doesn't really matter."

Trugoy added that he's not talking about gangsta rappers but kids of different ages that the band met in clubs. "They'd come to see our show, so it wasn't to do with music, it was just them wanting to test us as so-called peaceful people." he said.

    Stolen Dance Lyrics

I want you by my side
So that I never feel alone again
    They’ve always been so kind
But now they’ve brought you away from here
I hope they didn’t get your mind
Your heart is too strong anyway
We need to fetch back the time
    They have stolen from us

    And I want you
We can bring it on the floor
You’ve never danced like this before
    We don’t talk about it
Dancin' on do the boogie all night long
Stoned in paradise, shouldn’t talk about it

    And I want you
We can bring it on the floor
You’ve never danced like this before
    We don’t talk about it
Dancin' on do the boogie all night long
Stoned in paradise, shouldn’t talk about it

    Shouldn't talk about it

    Coldest winter for me
    No sun is shining anymore
The only thing I feel is pain
    Caused by absence of you
    Suspense is controlling my mind
I cannot find the way out of here

I want you by my side
So that I never feel alone again

    And I want you
We can bring it on the floor
You’ve never danced like this before
    We don’t talk about it
Dancin' on do the boogie all night long
Stoned in paradise, shouldn’t talk about it

  • Milky Chance is a pop-rock duo comprising vocalist Clemens Rehbein and DJ Philipp Dausch. Both originate from the German town of Kassel and are signed to Kassel-based label Lichtdicht Records in their home country.
  • This along with the other songs on Sadnecessary this one was recorded and mixed by the pair in a home studio. Released on April 5, 2013 as Milky Chance's debut single, the folk/pop/electronic mélange peaked at #2 in their home country and quickly became a European hit, topping the chart in Austria, Belgium (Wallonia), Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Luxembourg, Poland and Switzerland. It took a little to catch on in America: the song didn't reach its US chart peak of #39 until 21 months after it was first released.
  • In this song Milky Chance use an addict who is craving drugs to fuel his habit as a metaphor for someone missing their former lover. Clemens Rehbein explained to Artist Direct : "You want to spend time with a person but you can't because of some bad circumstances. It describes a feeling you have and expressing the aching for that person and perhaps the hope to see her again. You're hoping for good things."
  • Rehbein told Nylon magazine the story of the song: "I wrote the chorus two or three years ago, and then the verse a few years later," he said. "The whole song took a few years. I always have so many ideas in my head and so I'm always trying to find pieces to fit together and stick together. It's kind of puzzling, and that's the special thing about it. In general it takes a week or so to write a song, but sometimes you have ideas and don't know how to continue. Then you have to put them away and come back to them later, which is what I did."
  • The words 'stolen' and 'dancing' both appear in the song's lyrics, but separately. The title doesn't feature in the song.

    1, 2,
    1, 2, 3

    Wake up kids
    We've got the dreamers disease
Age 14 we got you down on your knees
So polite, you're busy still saying please
Frienemies, who when you're down ain't your friend
Every night we smash their Mercedes-Benz
First we run, and then we laugh 'til we cry

But when the night is falling
    You cannot find the light
You feel your dreams are dying
    Hold tight

You've got the music in you
    Don't let go
You've got the music in you
    One dance left
This world is gonna pull through
    Don't give up
You've got a reason to live
    Can't forget
We only get what we give

    I'm comin' home baby
    You're tops,
    Give it to me now

Four a.m. We ran a miracle mile
    We're flat broke,
But hey we do it in style
    The bad rich
God's flying in for your trial

But when the night is falling
You cannot find a friend (friend)
You feel your tree is breaking
    Just then

You've got the music in you
    Don't let go
You've got the music in you
    One dance left
This world is gonna pull through
    Don't give up
You've got a reason to live
    Can't forget
We only get what we give

This whole damn world, could fall apart
You'll be ok, follow your heart
You're in harms way, I'm right behind
    Now say you're mine

You've got the music in you
    Don't let go
You've got the music in you
    One dance left
This world is gonna pull through
    Don't give up
You've got a reason to live
    Can't forget
We only get what we give

    Don't let go
I feel the music in you
    Don't let go
    Fly high, high

    What's real, can't die
You only get what you give
You only get what you give
    Don't give up
Just don't be afraid to leave
Health insurance rip off lying FDA big bankers buying
    Fake computer crashes dining
    Cloning while they're multiplying
Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson
    Courtney Love, and Marilyn Manson
    You're all fakes
    Run to your mansions
    Come around
    We'll kick your ass in
    Don't let go
    One dance left

    You Get What You Give
  • Singer/Songwriter Gregg Alexander wrote this about people who aspire to be famous, and his cynicism toward the world of "celebrity." He's saying that people should just be themselves instead of aspiring to be someone else.
  • The closing lyrics of this song caused controversy as they accused Marilyn Monroe, Beck, Courtney Love and Hanson of being fakes and that the New Radicals will "kick their ass in." Apparently not all of these artist held a grudge: Hanson collaborated with Gregg Alexander on their song "Lost Without Each Other" on the Underneath CD.
  • The video was shot at a shopping mall in New York because Gregg Alexander said it epitomized society's fake culture of encouraging people to spend.
  • Since disbanding the group in summer 1999, Alexander has written songs for the likes of Sophie Ellis Bextor, Ronan Keating, Mel C and Enrique Iglesias. His most well known composition is probably "The Game Of Love" by Santana and Michelle Branch, which earned a Grammy in 2003.
  • This was used on the end credits for the 2006 Adam Sandler film Click.
  • In the September 25, 2006 edition of Time magazine, U2 guitarist The Edge said that this is the song he is most jealous of.
  • This is the first hit song to use the word "Frenemies" in the lyrics: "Frenemies, who when you're down ain't your friend." The word started showing up in the late '90s to explain those weird relationships where you could be both friends and enemies with someone at the same time, depending on the situation. "Frenemies" became the title of a book in 2007 and a movie in 2012, but many of us heard it for the first time courtesy of The New Radicals.

Do you like it when the meter's jumpin'?
You like the sound of them horses runnin'?
Do you like it when the tweeter's tweetin'?
Do you like it when the back seat's bumpin'?

Do you like a little kick in your coke
Do you like it goin' up in smoke
Do you like it on a gravel road
We can keep it on the down low

Tell Me How You Like It (tell me how you like it)
You know I wanna try it (know I wanna try it)
Baby if you don't mind it (if you don't mind it)
We can kick it down in four and you can drive
Pretty girl you can ride it
We can all night it (we can all night it)
You don't have to hide it (you don't have to hide it)
    Just tell me how
Tell me how you like it

Do you like it on a riverbank
Do you like it when the sun done sank
Do you like it when the full moon's high
And it's shinin' down into your drink

Do you like it when the tailgate's down
Do you like it when we take it to the ground
Tell me baby, how does that sound
Either way, you know it's goin' down

Baby why you gotta look so pretty
With your hair so soft and long
You're damn sure turnin' me on
Tonight, we gettin' out of the city
Leave it all behind, get a little lost
    Baby you make the call

Tell me how you like it (tell me how you like it)
You know I wanna try it (know I wanna try it)
Baby if you don't mind it (if you don't mind it)
We can kick it down in four and you can drive
Pretty girl you can ride it
We can all night it (we can all night it)
You don't have to hide it (you don't have to hide it)
    Just tell me how
Tell me how you like it

Do you like it in the shotgun seat
With the highway flyin' right under your feet (tell me)
Do you like it with the radio on (just tell me how)
Tell me how you like it
Do you like it by the bonfire heat
If it gets too hot we can take it to the creek (I need to know)
Let's make it last all night long (just tell me how)
Tell me how you like it

Tell Me How You Like It
  • This song represents a slight change of pace for the FGL duo of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley. They penned the cut with Nashville songwriter Chris Tompkins; the same trio also wrote the hit single "Get Your Shine On" with Rodney Clawson. Tyler Hubbard told Artist Direct : "It's a song we wrote back. We fell in love with it. It's got a sexy, different vibe, and we wanted to cut it for sure. It came from a different place. It's something you'd want to sing to girls on stage, and it's a fun make-you-want-to-dance song."

    You get what you give
    That much is true

    Don't let the walls
    Cave in on you
    You turned the world away
    From you

    Where's Your Head At?
  • This was a huge international hit for Basement Jaxx, which is a UK dance/production duo formed in London by DJs Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe. Buxton, who writes most of their lyrics, told us this song is about "Losing control and about states of anxiousness," adding, "Basically, they're the same divide between sanity and madness."
  • The hook comes from a sample of Gary Numan's track "M.E." from his 1979 album The Pleasure Principle.
  • Damien Peachey is the lead vocalist on this song. Never heard of him? That's typical of Basement Jaxx, who use a variety of singers - many unknown - on their tracks.

And also typical, the duo adjusted the song to suit Peachey's personality. They took some time to get to know him and tweaked the words so he would be for comfortable singing them.
  • The football (soccer) chant chorus was provided by US house DJs Erick Morillo and Junior Sanchez.
  • The video contains a dig at the smugness of the dance music industry when a performing monkey band with human faces becomes the future of music. It was praised by Mixmag magazine as the best dance music video ever made. The video was shot over three days in a real mental hospital in Prague with some vicious monkeys.

The clip was directed by the Scandinavian team Traktor and stars Damian Samuels as the ill-fated record executive.
  • The refrain in this song started out as "Where are my dogs at?," which didn't fit the theme of the song (madness), but sounded great. Late one night, Buxton thought to himself, "Where's my head at?," and it clicked for him that the hook should be "Where's Your Head At?"

"That song was like a bit of a puzzle and it kind of grew into being," he told us.
  • This was featured in the 2001 film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

I Can't Describe (The Way I Feel) Lyrics

I can't describe (the way I feel, the way I feel)
All of my heart (the way I feel, the way I feel)
I just can't put in words what I feel for you (the way I feel, the way I feel)
It feels so good it hurts, what you do (the way I feel, the way I feel)

I feel like I'm in love
That is nice but not good enough
I feel like saying something that's for us, that defines what's in our hearts
Dancing and we play around, you know you got me
And dancing feels like raining down all over my body
It tingles here, tingles there, ooh it tingles everywhere
That's why I never found the words to describe

I can't describe (the way I feel, the way I feel)
All of my heart (the way I feel, the way I feel)
I just can't put in words what I feel for you (the way I feel, the way I feel)
It feels so good it hurts, what you do (the way I feel, the way I feel)

This feels right, just staying up
And you don't describe when it's not
I can feel my happy thumping from your touch
In my life you're my love

Dancing and we play around, you know you got me
And dancing feels like raining down all over my body
It tingles here, tingles there, ooh it tingles everywhere
That's why I never found the words to describe

It feels so good it hurts, what you do (the way I feel, the way I feel)

In the money, hopefully you tell me what we've both done
Right, right now, think about it later, boy just love me now

Come on Shawty, you already know 'bout me
In the summer Barcelona, Monaco I be
Kickin' flave on the gold coast, doing the most
We poppin' gold bottles, twenty thousand toes
I’m sending beezy up, they can take a walk on the moon
My wife’s got it showing in the middle of June
And we can kick it on the water when it’s out in the street
On the yacht, so it’ never free (getting money)
I’ll let you get to play a card, if you play you’re right
Make you shine on sight in the day or night
I could never be a bad I just say I be
But I could be good if the wood be good
In the drop top, park downtown, getting to it
Let you have it like a true dope boy should
The neighbors all here, you wanna do something to it
'Cause we work 'em all up, wake up to the mall up

I can't describe (the way I feel, the way I feel)
All of my heart (the way I feel, the way I feel)
I just can't put in words what I feel for you (the way I feel, the way I feel)

    I Can't Describe (The Way I Feel)
  • This 1970s-inspired dance ballad is an uptempo track that features a verse by Atlanta rapper T.I. Hudson said to MTV News of the cut, "You listen to it and it'll make you happy!"
  • Pharrell Williams wrote and produced the song. "Working with a visionary like Pharrell was a really special experience for me," said Hudson, "He is one of the most talented musicians of our time, and I couldn't be more proud of what we did together. I'm so thrilled to be sharing this song with everyone. For me, it's all about making people feel good, and showing them who I am as an artist. I make music to feed the soul, and I think this song will do that for a lot of people."
  • The song was released as the first single from JHUD. The album title references Hudson's nickname, which people have been using for a while. The songstress told Billboard magazine she's liked her moniker from the beginning. "The first time I heard of it was when I was on American Idol, and apparently a radio DJ in Chicago gave me this nickname," Hudson said. "Ever since everybody's been calling me JHud. No one calls me Jennifer Hudson anymore. I grew up being called Jenny Kate, so this is like the world's version of Jenny Kate."
  • Jennifer Hudson performed this at the 2013 Soul Train Awards , when she was joined by late '70s disco queens Evelyn King and Chaka Khan (as well as T.I.).

    Trailer Hitch Lyrics

I wanna buy you a drink
Maybe one for this whole town
I may not have that much
But I don’t mind spreading it around
    Everybody chasing something
    I don’t know why they’re running
I take my time to the finish line
‘Cause we all end up with nothing

I don’t know why, know why
    Everybody wanna die rich
    Diamonds, champagne,
Work your way down that list.
    We try, everybody tries
Tries to fit into that ditch
You can’t take it with you when you go
Never seen a hearse with a Trailer Hitch
Never seen a hearse with a trailer hitch

    Started my day
    Giving away
    All of my baseball cards
It felt so good by the afternoon
I gave some guy my car
It ain’t about what you’re driving
Or about the gold you’re piling
The less I have to worry about
The more time I got for smiling

I don’t know why, know why
    Everybody wanna die rich
    Champagne, new plane
Work your way down that list.
    We try, everybody tries
Tries to fit into that ditch
You can’t take it with you when you go
Never seen a hearse with a trailer hitch
Never seen a hearse with a trailer hitch

    Hey, hey

    You can stack it up
    Pack it up
Tie it with a big, red bow
    Get a great, big truck
    Back it all up
But you can’t take it with you when you go
Can’t take it when you go

I don’t know why, know why
    Everybody wanna die rich
Diamonds, champagne, newest of the new planes
Work your way down that list.
    We try, everybody tries
Tries to fit into that ditch
You can’t take it with you when you go
Never seen a hearse with a trailer hitch
Never seen a hearse with a trailer hitch

  • The idea for the song came to Kristian Bush after a writer friend of his walked out the door and said, "I've never seen a hearse with a trailer hitch."

"As we went through it, it was very easy to walk into the shoes of, 'Let's write a song that's fun that has a message that also matters. Let's just not bang over anybody's head with it.' We probably have one too many things in our life. All of us. We can probably give at least one of them back or away," Bush told Radio.com . "You can't take it with you when you go. It is a question and it isn't an answer of a song. It's just a question, why do we all want to die rich? Isn't there something we can do with that?"
  • The lead single of Southern Gravity, its inclusion on the album was an accident. Bush explained to Artist Direct : "I had written the song, finished the session, had written four songs, people were in their chairs. I asked to do one more before eating dinner. I had a little ditty that was supposed to be fun. I played it, charted it out and they began playing it. This thing happened. It makes you want to dance."

"It reminded me, again, of how much magic is in each set of songs. You just don't know until you bring them to life… what they can be. That sounds like a single and wasn't even supposed to be on the record."

Gettin' a message? A message for me
I'm caught up in love, and I'm in ecstasy
What can I do now, when nothing's the same?
And all that I know, I wanna do it again
Life is so simple when you are with me
'Cause when we're together, I'm in ecstasy
    I'm in ecstasy
    I'm in ecstasy
    I'm in ecstasy

    Everybody go!
All you pretty things, get on board this mothership
All you've got to be is ready for action, baby

Don't think I'm twisted, as a matter of fact
Welcome me now to the second act
I fought off robots, and a man in a suit
Wear off the soles of your monkey boots
I can't get enough of the sunshine
I can't get enough of the moonlight
And all the colours that are coming on strong
    Trying to hold on
    Trying to move on
Can't get enough of the oceans
Can't get enough of the mantra
All we will ever be is ecstasy
    We're in ecstasy
    We're in ecstasy
    We're in ecstasy

    Everybody go!

    Bumblebeee
  • This was the first track that Kasabian songwriter and guitarist Serge Pizzorno had for 48:13, having come up with a melody after going to Damon Albarn's Africa Express at Granary Square in London in September 2012. It was debuted by the band in Paris on April 30, 2014 at the first warm-up gig for their tour, and performed on Later…With Jools Holland on May 13, 2014. (thanks to The Kasabian Wiki .)
  • This call to arms is about Kasabian's connection with their fans. Pizzorno told NME: "I didn't have a name and my little boy Ennio called it 'Busy Bee.' I thought he said 'bumblebee' and thought, 'That's an amazing title.' Humans can't exist without bumblebees, and the song's about the fans and about us joining together and reaching a higher state with them - our fans are our bumblebees. Without them we're f---ed. without their pollinating flowers, we're done."
  • Asked by Q magazine to describe the song Pizzorno said: "It comes from the dance tent and how right they get it. I love that moment where you time something to perfection. It's such an art...when you get a crowd to a point and they're like, 'Just please f---ing do it.'"

"And Bumblebee is about the fans," he added. "Lyrically, I was so much more direct. So there's a moment in that song where I scream as loud as I can, 'Everybody go!'"
  • Here are a few bumblebee fun facts from The Encyclopedia of Trivia :

Bumblebees have smelly feet and leave a scent on the flower they visit to tell other bees there is no other nectar left.

Bumblebees don't have ears. They pick up vibrations through their bodies.

Bumblebees can fly at up to 30mph. The buzz is produced by their flight muscles.

The world's smallest mammal is the bumblebee bat of Thailand, weighing less than a penny.

    Last All Night (Koala) Lyrics

    When lights are low
High anticipation waiting for the show
Feel my heart is racing, losing all control
Got me so impatient for you
    Yeah, yeah

    'Cause in my mind
I see you touching me in ways undefined
I don't want to stop it
    I gotta press rewind
So baby tell me what we gonna do
    Gonna do

    Oh,
Don't you dance with all the lights
Let's make this last all night, yeah
    Oh,
Let's do it till the sky turns bright
Let's make this last all night

When you look into my eyes
The world stops and sparks fly
There's nothing sweeter than this paradise
    Sing, oh
Baby set my love on fire
We can make this last all night

We can make this last all night
We can make this last all night (Baby, baby, baby)
We can make this last all night (Baby, baby, baby)

    Hmm, feel this energy
Building up inside it's like a sweet release
You play with this emotion, oh, so cleverly
You got me so addicted to you
    To you!

    'Cause in my head
I know the night doesn't really have to end
    I'm ready steady go
I am so prepared for whatever you say boy I do
    I do

    Oh,
Don't you dance with all the lights
Let's make this last all night, yeah
    Oh,
Let's do it till the sky turns bright
Let's make this last all night

    Sing, oh
Baby set my love on fire

  • Heldens released a vocal version of the song titled "Last All Night (Koala)" as a digital download on December 7, 2014. KStewart is the singer; in case you're wondering she isn't the Twilight actress, but a rising artist from London who is known to her family as Kate.
  • This was Heldens' second hit in the UK, having shifted his animal of choice from a Gecko to the Koala bear. Here are some koala fun facts:

The Koala bear is not actually a bear, but a marsupial, related to the kangaroo and the wombat

Koalas sleep for up to 18 hours per day and spend about three of their five active hours eating.

Koalas typically inhabit open Eucalyptus woodlands, and the leaves of these trees make up most of their diet.

Koalas do not drink. They get all the moisture they need from the Eucalyptus leaves that they ingest.

The fingerprints of koala bears are virtually indistinguishable from those of humans.

    Wrong Club Lyrics

    (Oh oh oh oh)
Hey, If you can’t move your feet
You wanna stand like a woman
    You wanna stand with me
If you don’t seem to fit in
    You wanna take some cover
    You wanna leave with me

Did I ever tell you about the way I wanna feel
Giving it up and fly away
Did I ever tell you about the good times that you get
Don’t know if you got another day

    (Oh oh oh oh)
Hey! I’m in the Wrong Club
    Listening to this shit
    (Oh oh oh oh)
Hey! I’m in the wrong life, someone get me out of it
    (Oh oh oh oh)

And if you wanna come in
    We can sit on boxes
    I keep everything
Oh, and if you're standing in the corner
You can tell me you don’t wanna talk
And I tell you how it’s always been

Did I ever tell you about the way I wanna feel
Giving it up and fly away
And did I ever tell you about the good times that you get
Don’t know if you got another day

    (Oh oh oh oh)
Hey! I’m in the wrong club
    Listening to this shit
    (Oh oh oh oh)
Hey! I’m in the wrong life, someone get me out of it
    (Oh oh oh oh)

I ain't moving though the beat is on
Everyone's gonna let me know it
Get me out somewhere I belong
Come with me, we can over throw it
What’s the matter with the crazy fool
Keep it in or I can go and show it
No DJ never saved my life

    (Oh oh oh oh)
Hey! I’m in the wrong club
    Listening to this shit
    (DJ never saved my life)
I’m in the wrong life, someone get me out of it

    (Oh oh oh oh)
Hey! I’m in the wrong club
    Listening to this shit
I’m in the wrong life, someone get me out of it

And everyone's gonna let me know it
Come with me, we can over throw it

    Wrong Club
  • The first single from the Ting Tings third album, this euphoric Disco-infused number finds Katie White trying to let go of her troubles on the dance floor. "It's about feeling like you don't fit in," she told NME, "finding someone you can leave with - finding someone like you - finding someone who likes you - even if you can't dance like the rest."
  • The song's music video was filmed by the French/Italian fashion director Lisa Paclet (Dior, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent). It finds Katie White dancing around a light show in an old Parisian warehouse.

    Party In The Penthouse Lyrics

Tonight we gon' Party In The Penthouse
    Haha, well alright, alright, alright
    Yeah, look

This ain't no ordinary average kind of night, come on
We know that we just can't afford and do this twice, no we can't
We only got one chance so we gotta do this right
Yo we livin' it up, forget about all your plans
You can run and tell all your friends
We gon' party in the penthouse, reserve a room at the W
Panoramic top floor, everybody's comin' through
Bathrobe and boxers, call that room service
Ordering some lobsters and some cheeseburgers in this bitch
Hotel staff is getting pissed, 'cause they weren't invited to this shit
We gonn' dance for the maves, up pretend we're Bill Gates
Throw this money like we just got paid

We gon' party in the penthouse, hey
We might be flat broke but for one night feel like we made it
We gonn' party in the penthouse, hey
We now wanna know what it's like one night to be famous
Yeah, we gonn' party in the penthouse,

Just take the elevator right up to the sky, come on up
We at the top I hope you're not afraid of heights, we at the top
We spend this money so we got it doing right
Yo we livin' it up, forget about all your plans
You can run and tell all your friends
We gonn' party in the penthouse,
    Taking shots to this instrumental
On the balcony, like what's up get on my level
Spending liquor on this California king
Singing money ain't a thing, you can charge it to my incidentals
I'm on my gaspy shit, yeah, pinky's up I'm on my classy shit
One time, throw your glass in the air
'cause we started from the lobby now we here
We gonn' party in the penthouse,

We gonn' party in the penthouse, hey
We might be flat broke but for one night feel like we made it
We gonn' party in the penthouse, hey
We now wanna know what it's like one night to be famous
Yeah, we gonn' party in the penthouse,
    La la la la la,
    Everybody in the penthouse singing
    La la la la la,
Yeah, we gonn' party in the penthouse,
    La la la la la,
    Everybody in the penthouse singing
    La la la la la,
Yeah, we gonn' party in the penthouse

We might be flat broke but for one night feel like we made it

  • This song finds Jake describing a "no ordinary average kind of night" that he will never forget. "That's a really fun song, it's basically just about you and your friends gathering all the money that you can for one night breaking open the piggy banks and renting out a penthouse for one night, feeling like you're famous feeling like rock stars," he explained to MTV News. "And my friends used to do that when we were in high school. I never did it, but my friends did and I can relate to it. It's kind of symbolic of how I'm living right now."

    Isn't It Time Lyrics

    After it's all been said
The music spinning in our head
    Can't forget the feeling of
The magic of that summer love
Ooh I wanna take you there
Do you wanna turn back the pages
    Memories in photographs
    The world is changed
And yet the game is still the same

Isn't It Time we danced the night away
How about doing it just like yesterday?
Every time I think of you
All of those things we used to do

    Remember those nights we spent
Little did we know how the time would fly
    Isn't it time, oh, oh
    Isn't it time, oh, oh

The good times never have to end
Now's the time to let them happen again
We can have ourselves a blast
Good times that aren't only in the past

Isn't it time we danced the night away
How about doing it just like yesterday?
Every time I think of you
All of those things we used to do

    Remember those nights we spent
Little did we know how the time would fly
    Isn't it time, oh, oh
    Isn't it time, oh, oh

And as the sun goes down we raise a glass to kindness
To all the good times we share
Isn't it time we get ready again
Isn't it time we go steady again?

Isn't it time we danced the night away
How about doing it just like yesterday?
Every time I think of you
And all of those things we used to do

    Remember those nights we spent
Little did we know how the time would fly

  • When The Beach Boys decided to release an album of new songs to mark their 50th anniversary, they revived a song that Brian Wilson, Joe Thomas, Jim Peterik and Larry Millas started working on in 1998 called "That's Why God Made the Radio," and made that the title track.

Thomas, Peterik and Millas were thrilled, and started working on another tune. Millas came with the idea for "Isn't It Time," with the hook "Isn't it time we catch another wave." Brian Wilson and Mike Love worked on the song as well, changing that line to "Isn't it time to dance the night away," since they didn't want a surfing reference. The song was released as the second singe from the album following the title track.

    White Lightning Lyrics

    No promises, no guarantees
    When you come down here
    You're already on your knees
You want to ride White Lightnin'
    Then sign your name
If you want to dance with the devil
You gotta play his way, play the game
    You gotta taste that sweetness
    Cause you can't say no
But are you ready for the nightmare
    When you can't let go
    Like a soldier of fortune
    When the money runs dry
You got rivers of bitter tears, in your eyes

You want to leave but you can't let go
You want to stop but you can't say no
    You'll never laugh about it
You just can't live without it
You had enough but you just want more
You never get what you're lookin' for
You'll never laugh about it, never

    You got both ends burning
    You're like a moth to a flame
    You're going off the rails
    Like a runaway train
    It's a no-win situation
    And there's no way out
And no one will ever hear you, scream and shout

You want to leave but you can't let go
You want to stop but you can't say no
    You'll never laugh about it
You just can't live without it
You had enough but you just want more
You never get what you're lookin' for
You'll never laugh about it, never

Run, he's coming to claim you
    Run, nowhere to hide away
Run, oh, you dance with danger
Run, oh, you gotta ride the

    [Chorus]
    White Lightnin'
    On a dead end street
    White Lightnin'
    Where the deadbeats meet
    White Lightnin'
    It's a one-way ride
    White Lightnin'
    Oh, there's nowhere to hide
Such a lonely road you ride
It's not easy when you don't know why
Such a heavy load you hide
You never leave no matter how you try

Run, he's coming to claim you
    Run, nowhere to hide away
    Run, you dance with danger
Run, oh, you gotta ride the

    [Chorus]

    White Lightning
Can you feel it, can you feel it?
    White Lightning
    It's so dangerous
    White Lightning
    No promises, no guarantees
    White Lightning

    White Lightning
  • This song was written as a dedication to Def Leppard's deceased guitar player Steve Clark after his death in 1991. He was referred to as "White Lightning," as he was always running around the stage, but White lightning can also mean drugs, or your addiction of choice.
  • In the book MTV Ruled the World - The Early Years of Music Video, guitarist Phil Collen discussed the band's image: "You can say The Police, Madonna, and Michael Jackson, all these really young artists had very definite images. We didn't really consider that we had an image, but I think looking back, we actually did. The Police were kind of from the British punk scene... obviously not really, because they're some of the best pop songs I've ever heard in my life, Sting being just an amazing writer and the band having this great chemistry."

Further on he concludes: "It wasn't a sweaty, greasy, leather metal, which again, is what we actually came from in England... There was something that was a bit more clean-cut than your average Motorhead fan, but it wasn't as glossy as Duran Duran."
