Henderson co-wrote this song with fellow singer-songwriter Josh Record, who hails from Stroud, Gloucestershire in South England. His single "The War" was chosen by BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe as his "Hottest Record of 2013."

The song soundtracked an emotional scene on the UK soap Hollyoaks, when the popular character Carmel McQueen tragically died following a train crash. Gemma Flaherty, from the Hollyoaks music department, commented: "The episode was the biggest of the year and because I knew that the executive producer Bryan Kirkwood wanted an Ella track to be used, I went straight for 'Yours'."

"Ella's voice is so soft and the piano and instrumentation fitted with the tone of the scene," she added. "It's ethereal and that works with the character of Carmel."

The track was a late addition to Chapter One. "I had started adding it to my acoustic sets," Henderson told Digital Spy . "It wasn't even on the album at the time. When Simon [Cowell] was hearing it in the acoustic sets, he would often sit down afterwards and be like, 'This song should go on the album - it's amazing.'"

This is about Springsteen's relationship with his dad. They didn't get along, but later in life Bruce realized his father worked very hard to support his family and came to appreciate his efforts. Bruce can also thank his dad for inspiring the rebellious spirit that led him to follow his dreams. Determined not to work a typical factory job like his dad, Springsteen followed his dreams and made music for a living.

This song was written and recorded in 1977 for Darkness on the Edge of Town. Bruce left this song off the album because he felt that the song was a transition of what happened to his protagonist when he moved on to a later chapter in his life. (thanks, Ken Thomson - Edmonton, AB)

Introducing this song at a New Jersey show in 1981, Springsteen said: "I could never talk to my old man, he could never talk to me, my mother couldn't talk to him. So I was glad when I finally got old enough and I started to live alone. Then for about ten years I never saw my folks that much. And just recently we came back from Europe and I got a phone call a night or two later that my father had gotten sick.

I went out to California where he was in the hospital there. I started thinkin' on the way about all the things that I always wanted to say to him and I never said and I always figured, well, someday we'll sit down and we'll talk about why it was the way it was when I was young, talk about why he felt the way he did. But the years go by and it never comes up. I guess it feels like a dangerous subject or something. But he got sick and I realized that he was gettin' old and that if I had somethin' to say to him, I should say it now."

This is from Sonic Highways, for which the Foo Fighters recorded each track in a different US city. Dave Grohl approached his songwriting differently to previous records, interviewing musicians from each place and using their quotes in the the tunes, completing the lyrics just before recording his vocals. Drummer Taylor Hawkins stated that it gave the Foo Fighters frontman a new focus. He explained: "Dave said he was going to take sentences from the interviews and write a song. I was like, 'That seems really difficult,' but it's given him a whole new way of writing lyrics."

This two-part song was recorded at KLRU-TV Studio 6A in Austin, Texas and features blues rocker Gary Clark, Jr on lead guitar.

This song was originally something Charli was working on with Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend. The two started writing it after seeing Miley Cyrus play the Staples Center and then getting drunk. "We went back to his house and I sat on top of [Batmanglij's] piano, and we wrote 'Kingdom,'" Charli told Pitchfork . "We sung it into his phone. I remember thinking in the morning, 'Ugh, this is going to be the worst thing ever,' but it was really good."

The tune remained as a drunken voice note on their phones until Hunger Games Mockinjay soundtrack curator Lorde called Charli up and asked her to lend a song to the movie. The English songstress figured out "Kingdom" would fit well.

Lorde asked asking Charli if she wanted to "put a legend on the song as well." Among her suggestions were Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon, who ended up supplying a brief vocal at the end of the track. "[Le Bon] cut his vocal in New York with Rostam, so we were never in the studio together," Charli told Radio.com . "But we had an email chain going, which was awesome. He sounds incredible, it's really cool to work with someone who's such a legend."

This song was originally recorded by Bright Eyes for their 2011 album The People's Key. It was covered three years later by Lorde for the soundtrack of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 movie. This song was influenced by Springsteen's working class father. Bruce did not get along with his dad growing up, but came to appreciate the work he did to raise his family. Bruce never had a job besides making and playing music.

Explaining how he came to write songs dealing with his father, like this one and "Adam Raised A Cain," Springsteen told Rolling Stone: "When I went to work, I really went to work in my dad's clothes, and it became a way, I suppose, that I honored him and my parents' lives, and a part of my own young life. Jo Dee Messina originally penned this tune with Pink in mind. "I wanted to co-write it with her while she was in town, but it ended up that she had a crazy schedule," she said … so I was like, 'I'm going to finish this song anyway.'"

The song was inspired by a real person. "Maybe this is too much behind the song, but it's about a guy in the industry who's, like, Joe Cool," she divulged. "He just thinks he's, like, the Cat's Meow, and I had seen him backstage, and all these little girls are hanging on him."

"He's not an artist. He's not a singer. But he's just some guy that thinks he's, like, the coolest thing, and he plays that off, and girls buy into it," Messina added. "I remember seeing him backstage, with girls all around him, and I'm like, 'Dude.'"

"I was like, 'Oh, young girl. Walk away,'" she continued. "He is messed up, you know? This guy is never going to change. He's a dog. He always will be a dog. And so, that's where literally the idea came up."

Springsteen wrote this about a small-time drag racer who dreams of a better life somewhere else. Like Steve Earle's "Someday," it describes that very American desire of the young man to leave his town and see what is out in the big world - to avoid that soul killing life they see around them. This is one of many early Springsteen songs featuring cars - in this case a Chevy. Some others were "Thunder Road," "Backstreets," and "Pink Cadillac."

Bruce explained to Rolling Stone in 2010: "When you pick a song title like 'Racing In The Street,' that's a hard song to write. But that was sort of the local culture of Asbury in the '70s, which was still deeply enmeshed in car culture. If you went to the Stone Pony, it was a constant circle of souped-up muscle cars on Saturday and Sunday. Once again, I sort of stood outside of it, I was hitchhiking, I didn't have a car! But I wanted one real bad."

Springsteen wrote in his book Songs : "I wanted my street racers to carry the years between the car songs of the '60s and 1978 America."

This song is filled with technical details about remodeling cars. Although he did love cars, Springsteen had to ask for advice and was careful to be correct in his language. However, after the song was released, a mechanic friend exclaimed that you couldn't put fuelie heads on a '69 Chevy and proceeded to prove his point. (thanks, Jesse - Roanoke, VA)

The last line in the song is a takeoff on Martha And The Vandella's "Dancing in the Street." Springsteen sings: "Summer's here and the time is right for racing in the street."

This was included on Springsteen's box set Live 1975-1985.

Emmylou Harris and Queen's Roger Taylor have both covered this song. Harris cites Springsteen as inspiration for her songwriting and influence on her 1985 album The Ballad of Sally Rose. Springsteen's 1982 Nebraska album, in particular, was a big influence. "I was so inspired by the bravery of that record and the emotion of that record that I said, 'I've really got to just do this project,'" Harris said in our 2014 interview .
