Flight Recorder From Viking 7 Lyrics

Space is colder
Than the air in the mountains
Where I come from
The air in the mountains
Where I come from

For years I drifted
Further and further
Into the unknown
Further and further
Into the unknown

And I wonder
Where have you gone
And I wonder
What have you done?
What have you done?

Space is older
Than the air moving in and out
Of your lungs
The air moving in and out
Of your lungs

For years I've drifted
The math of a divinity
That goes on and on
The math of a divinity
That goes on and on

And I wonder
Where have you gone?
And I wonder
What have you done?
What have you done?

    There Goes My Baby Lyrics

She came from nowhere and she stole my soul
    Her love was criminal
I finally found what I was looking for
Now I can't let it go

We break up, to make up
Yeah you got me spinning like a yo yo yo
But I know that you know, yeah
That girl you will always be mine

    Hey!

    There Goes My Baby
    Whoa
Hey hey baby come back to me

    Hey!

    There goes my baby
    Whoa
Hey hey baby come back to me, back to me

I get so high when she go down down low
She work it nice and slow

We going round and round and back and forth
    Can't take it anymore

We break up, to make up
You got me spinning like a yo yo yo

But I know that you know
That girl you will always be mine

    Hey!

    There goes my baby
    Whoa
Hey hey baby come back to me

    Hey!

    There goes my baby
    Whoa
Hey hey baby come back to me, back, back to me

    There goes my baby
    My wholesome lady
Hold me down if my whole world went crazy
    That' s what she spoke
    Just what she said
    Now that's a joke
    That talk is dead
Know I got to get over the love I had
The door I keep it open just in case she come back
Can't deal with the emotions to the point I'm sad
And I know my hearts broken but I've got so attached
Baby come back I won't get no sleep
She more than I want and all that I need
Locked up my heart and threw away the key so
And when my baby come back I'm crossing my T's dotting my I's
    And now I can't eat
    Out of my mind
And that's how it's gonna be so, so

    Hey!

    There goes my baby
    Whoa
Hey hey baby come back to me

    Hey!

    There goes my baby
    Whoa
Hey hey baby come back to me, back, back to me

    There goes my baby
    Whoa
Hey hey baby come back to me

    Hey!

    There goes my baby
    Whoa
Hey hey baby come back to me, back, back to me

    Edie (Ciao Baby) Lyrics

Always said you were a Youthquaker, Edie
    A stormy little world shaker
    Warhol's darling queen, Edie
An angel with a broken wing

The dogs lay at your feet, Edie
    We caressed you cheek
Stars wrapped in your hair, Edie
    Life without a care
    But your not there
    Your never there

Caught up in an endless scene
    Paradise a shattered dream
Why'd all the shit you took, Edie
Your innocence dripped blood, sweet child

    Sweet little sugar talker
    Paradise dream stealer
    Warhol's Darling queen, Edie
    Innocence dripped blood, sweet child

Why did you kiss the world goodbye
    Ciao Baby
Don't you know paradise takes time
It takes time, but your not there
    Fade away now
    But your not there
    Ciao Edie

    Edie (Ciao Baby)
  • This is about Edie Sedgwick, a socialite who formed part of the artist Andy Warhol's Factory scene in New York in the '60s. Sedgwick featured in several Warhol films, including Poor Little Rich Girl and Beauty No. 2. Her final movie role was as Susan Superstar in Ciao! Manhattan, which was written and directed by John Palmer and David Weisman. This song takes the "Ciao Baby" part of its title from this film.

Sedgwick lived a troubled life that was plagued by mental health issues and drug addictions. In 1971, Sedgwick died of an overdose. She was 28 years old. The film, Factory Girl, starring Sienna Miller, is about Sedgwick.
  • The Cult's front man, Ian Astubury, became interested in Sedgwick while the band were recording their Electric album in New York: "It was kinda like I was really interested in Warhol's scene, The Velvet Underground [who Warhol managed between 1965-1967], and really interested in Edie Sedgwick and just was compelled to write something about it." Guitarist, Billy Duffy added: "Just being in New York you can get wrapped up in it. It's a very special place. That's just basically what the songs about. It's not really about her particularly, it's her used as an example."
  • Sedgwick was quite a muse: she had a brief affair with Bob Dylan and his song "Just Like A Woman" is reportedly about her.

  • This soulful electro-rocker is a collaboration between the British blues, rock and folk musician Jamie N Commons and the Brooklyn-based four-piece X Ambassadors, who appeared on Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP 2 bonus track "Wicked Ways."

Both acts are signed to Alex Da Kid's KIDinaKORNER label, a subsidiary of Interscope and it was Alex Da Kid himself who produced the track.
  • The song soundtracks "The Game Before the Game," a promotional commercial for Beats by Dre's Solo2 headphones and the World Cup, which shows the pre-game rituals for various athletes and celebrities. According to Omar Johnson, Beats' chief marketing officer, they originally had other plans. "We had a really huge track with from a really huge artist," he explained to Billboard magazine. "The moment we heard this song, we literally said 'nope, that's the right song.'"
  • The song was previously used in the trailer for the movie Welcome to Yesterday and in a clip for Season 2 of the TV series Orange is the New Black.
  • Alex Da Kid explained to Billboard magazine that his intention for the track was to inspire the less-prosperous and the disadvantaged: "It was my goal to write and produce an anthemic song that would resonate with anyone that has grown up in or been around underprivileged surroundings," he said.
  • Co-directed by Emile Rafael (Katy B's "Got Paid") and Alex Da Kid, the song's music video highlights some of the various Los Angeles subcultures.
  • Jay-Z jumped on a rock-heavy remix, which debuted during game 5 of the NBA Finals on June 15, 2014. It was made available afterwards exclusively for Beats subscribers.

Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) Lyrics

    It doesn't hurt me
Do you wanna feel how it feels?
Do you wanna know, know that it doesn't hurt me?
Do you wanna hear about the deal that I'm making?
    You
    It's you and me

    And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
    Be running up that road
    Be running up that hill
    Be running up that building
See if I only could, oh

    You don't wanna hurt me
But see how deep the bullet lies
    Unaware I'm tearing you asunder
Oh, there is thunder in our hearts

Is there so much hate for the ones we love?
Well tell me, we both matter, don't we?
    You
    It's you and me
It's you and me won't be unhappy

    And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
    Be running up that road
    Be running up that hill
    Be running up that building
Say, if I only could, oh

    You
    It's you and me
It's you and me won't be unhappy

    Oh c'mon, baby, c'mon darling
Let me steal this moment from you now.
    C'mon, angel, c'mon, c'mon, darling
    Let's exchange the experience, oh

    And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
I'd be running up that road
    Be running up that hill
    With no problems

See and if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
    Be running up that road
    Be running up that hill
    With no problems

    So if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
I'd be running up that road
    Be running up that hill
    With no problems

    So if I only could
    Be running up that hill
    With no problems

If I only could, I'd be running up that hill
If I only could, I'd be running up that hill

Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)
  • This song is about making a deal with God to swap lives with another person.
  • Bush wrote this with the title "Deal With God." Her label made her change it because they didn't think radio stations would play a song with "God" in the title. Bush still regrets letting them rename her song, but her previous album didn't do very well and she wanted to make sure this got airplay.
  • Bush's record company wanted to release "Cloudbusting" as the first single, but Kate convinced them to release this instead. Since they had already renamed her song, it was considered a compromise.
  • This was Bush's biggest hit in the US. She is very popular in the UK, but remains mostly unknown in America.
  • A version by British band Placebo was recorded for their 2007 Covers album. It entered the UK singles chart in January 2010 as a result of its use in the theatrical trailer for the feature film Daybreakers.
  • A new version of the song, subtitled '2012 Remix', reached the top 10 of the UK singles chart in August 2012. The track was transposed down a semitone to fit Bush's current lower vocal range and was premiered during the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony. Bush did not appear in person, but the recording was featured in a crucial section after the entry of athletes.

Don't Sleep In The Subway Lyrics

You wander around on your own little cloud
When you don't see the why or the wherefore
You walk out on me when we both disagree
'Cause to reason is not what you care for

I've heard it all a million time before
Take off your coat, my love, and close the door

Don't Sleep In The Subway, darlin'
Don't stand in the pouring rain
Don't sleep in the subway, darlin'
    The night is long
    Forget your foolish pride
    Nothing's wrong
    Now you're beside me again

You try to be smart, then you take it to heart
'Cause it hurts when your ego is deflated
You don't realize that it's all compromise
And the problems are so overrated

Goodbye means nothing when it's all for show
So why pretend you've somewhere else to go

Don't sleep in the subway, darlin'
Don't stand in the pouring rain
Don't sleep in the subway, darlin'
    The night is long
    Forget your foolish pride
    Nothing's wrong
    Now you're beside me again

Don't sleep in the subway, darlin'...

    Don't Sleep In The Subway
  • This is a tale of a couple, who like many, have lots of disagreements. The man tends to retreat into his own little world instead of engaging the issue. When threatens to walk out on her, the woman tells him that it's better to come up with a solution and make up. When she tells him, "don't sleep in the subway," she is asking him to spend the night with her instead of leaving.
  • Petula Clark's producer/songwriter Tony Hatch co-wrote this song with his wife Jackie Trent. Of all the songs that Hatch has written or co-written, this song is Clark's favorite. When we asked her about the song in our 2013 interview , she said, "It's a bit of a mystery to me, the song. But it's got to be one of my favorites, though I'm not quite sure what it's about. It doesn't matter."

Petula added that when she starred opposite Fred Astaire in the 1968 movie Finian's Rainbow, he asked her what this song was about, and she didn't have a good answer.
  • The entire song is actually a combination of three different songs which Tony Hatch had written but did not complete. The segments of the unfinished songs were molded into one to create one song.
  • This was Petula Clark's last hit to reach the Top 10 in the States. (thanks, Jerro - New Alexandria, PA, for all above)
  • The "subway" in the song title is not a mode of transportation, but refers to the underground passages found throughout London to enable pedestrians to cross busy intersections with heavy traffic flow. Clark's other big hit, "Downtown," also had a different meaning across the Atlantic, as in America it means the center of urban activity, while in England it would mean a downtrodden area. That song was written with the American meaning, as its writer, Tony Hatch, was inspired by New York City.
  • Gordon McLendon, known as "The Old Scotchman," was an ultra-conservative owner of radio stations in Dallas, Houston, Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit and San Antonio in the 1960s -'70s. He refused to play this on his stations because he believed the words were: "...take off your clothes and close the door." (thanks, Frederick - Galveston, TX)

    Shades Of Cool Lyrics

My baby lives in shades of blue
Blue eyes and jazz and attitude
    He lives in California too
    He drives a Chevy Malibu

    And when he calls
He calls for me, not for you
He lives for love, he loves his drugs
    He loves his baby too

But I can't fix him, can't make him better
And I can't do nothing about his strange weather

    But you are invincible
I can't break through your world
'Cause you live in Shades Of Cool
    Your heart is unbreakable

My baby lives in shades of cool
Blue heart and hands and aptitude
He lives for love, for women, too
I'm one of many, one is blue

    And when he calls
He calls for me, not for you
He prays for love, he prays for peace
    And maybe someone new

But I can't help him, can't make him better
And I can't do nothing about his strange weather

    'Cause you are invincible
I can't break through your world
'Cause you live in shades of cool
    Your heart is unbreakable

I'll fake it through the day
With some help from johnny walker red
Send the poison rain down the drain
To put bad thoughts in my head
    Two tickets torn in half
And a lot of nothing to do
Do you miss me, Miss Misery
    Like you say you do?

    A man in the park
Read the lines in my hand
    Told me i'm strong
Hardly ever wrong i said man you mean

You had plans for both of us
That involved a trip out of town
To a place i've seen in a magazine
    That you left lying around
I don't have you with me but
    I keep a good attitude
Do you miss me, miss misery
    Like you say you do?

I know you'd rather see me gone
Than to see me the way that i am
But i am in the life anyway

    Next door the tv's flashing
    Blue frames on the wall
It's a comedy of errors, you see
    It's about taking a fall
    To vanish into oblivion
    Is easy to do
And i try to be but you know me
I come back when you want me to
Do you miss me miss misery
