The Three Bells Lyrics

There's a village hidden deep in the valley
Among the pine trees half forlorn
And there on a sunny morning
Little Jimmy Brown was born

(Bung, bung, bung, bung)
All the chapel bells were ringing in the little valley town
And the song that they were singing was for baby Jimmy Brown
Then the little congregation prayed for guidance from above
"Lead us not into temptation, bless this hour of meditation"
"Guide him with eternal love"

There's a village hidden deep in the valley
Beneath the mountains high above
And there, twenty years thereafter
Jimmy was to meet his love

(Bung, bung, bung, bung)
All the chapel bells were ringing, 'twas a great day in his life
'cause the songs that they were singing was for Jimmy and his wife
Then the little congregation prayed for guidance from above
"Lead us not into temptation, bless, oh Lord this celebration"
"May their lives be filled with love"

From the village hidden deep in the valley
One rainy morning dark and gray
A soul winged its way to heaven
Jimmy Brown had passed away

(Bung, bung, bung, bung)
Just a lonely bell was ringing in the little valley town
'Twas farewell that it was singing to our little Jimmy Brown
And the little congregation prayed for guidance from above
"Lead us not into temptation, may his soul find the salvation"
"Of thy great eternal love"

The Three Bells
  • This song documents three stages of the life of "Jimmy Brown" - his birth, his marriage, and his death. It was based on the French language tune "Les trois cloches" by Jean Villard Gilles and Marc Herrand. which was originally a hit in France for Les Compagnons De La Chanson and Edith Piaf in 1946.
  • The Browns were a family group from Arkansas - a brother and two sisters.
  • This was also a #1 Country hit. It led the chart for ten weeks, holding the record for the longest reign by a group (of at least three members) for nearly 56 years, until Little Big Town's "Girl Crush" racked up its eleventh week on the summit in 2015.
  • The English lyrics were written by Bert Reisfeld and first recorded by Melody Maids in 1948. The anglicized version was initially a hit in the US in the early 1950s for the Les Compagnons de la chanson without Edith Piaf.
  • The star of the story in the original French version was Jean-Francois Nicot. When the song was anglicized, Jean-Francois Nicot became Jimmy Brown. It was just coincidence that the Browns' male vocalist, Jim Ed Brown, had the same name as the song's character.

Somebody pull the fire alarm, girl, where you from?

The way your body roll I'ma lose control
'Cause you got this club on fire and outside I bet all they smell is smoke
    (All they smell is smoke)

Pink diamonds, pink sand, beaches Aruba
Blue sapphires on days when she feeling Hoover
She hood and in the mood when I'm in the mood
Erotic, so exotic, I'm psychotic about it
I don't want forever, I just wanna taste her love sample
That product, I bet a nigga tongue go numb
She's a narcotic, that bomb shit burning, we smoking
My old flame, my Mary Jane, we got a love thing
She ain't jealous, I keep Nina around
In the small of my back in case some shit go down
Right under my Hermes, I'm hearing the word is
    Me, I'm a P.I.M.P
I let Trey hit some, then Dre hit some
Then pass it to the homies 'til we all get done
Niggas can't comprehend what this shit 'bout
Police coming, you like, put this shit out

You like smoke and you got me high
(You make a nigga want to get down)
    High
(High feeling like I'm up in a cloud)
Girl, what the fuck you done to me?
You got me feeling like you just rolled up for me
You're like smoke and you got me high
(So high make your love come down)
    High

Girl, what the fuck you done to me?
You got me feeling like you just rolled up for me
    You're like smoke

Shawty hot, she full blown, she hot now
100 degrees, that's with or without the top down
But when she get to working her hips you know the temperature rise
Oh lord, soon as she see the dick in her thighs
She like the stones in my cross, she flawless
I'm thinking damn, why would God give one woman all this?
You know I got the kind of conversation that make her feel like she need me
It's complicated, my occupation pimping ain't easy
Facts, I stack racks on racks and racks
Back when I was pumping crack, now my cards are black
Nigga get on my level, bark with the big dogs
If I want it I buy it, I don't care what this shit costs
Luther said it: a house is not a home without her
I had them panties on the Greyhound filled up with powder
But what she showed what she'll do for me has no limits
Her wanting is temporary cause for sure she gon' get it

You like smoke and you got me high
(You make a nigga want to get down)
    High
(High feeling like I'm up in a cloud)

Turn this bitch down, that's fire in the hole
I'm trying to get it and hit it, I don't wanna pass that
Got me addicted, I'm tripping, where the stash at?
    Baby, baby, don't you know?
    Baby, baby, you're just like

Smoke and you got me high
    So high

    Smoke
  • This high-powered dance track finds guest vocalist Trey Songz comparing a smoking hot girl to an actual fire. 50, on the other hand, compares her to a narcotic drug. It is the first collaboration between the pair.
  • The song was produced by Dr. Dre and Dawaun Parker. 50 Cent parted ways with Dre's Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records after twelve years, and this collaboration demonstrates there's no hard feelings since the rapper went out on his own. "'Smoke' is one of my favorite records off Animal Ambition," the G-Unit leader said. "It was great to have Dr. Dre produce, and Trey added so much to the song."
  • Directed by Eif Rivera, the video features a voluptuous female cop on a mission to track down the missing 50 Cent. She discovers the rapper in the trunk of a car only for the clip to end with "To Be Continued."

In an interview with The Breakfast Club, 50 said that he shot 13 videos for Animal Ambition.
  • Much of Animal Ambition was recorded in New York on the East Coast but 50 laid this cut down for the first time with Dre on the West Coast. He recalled to Digital Spy : "Initially I recorded it for Dre for his project Detox, but then I came back and listened to it again and I was like, 'Let me re-write or re-work it', because I wanted to see what it sounded like if I tried to write the song by myself."

"A lot of times with Dre, everything they make is for him and he is keeping it (laughs), then the label starts to make us at war because we're both in the audio category," 50 added. "In reality the biggest record in my career Dre produced - 'In Da Club', man."
  • Asked about his collaboration with 50 Cent on "Smoke" by The Boombox just before Animal Ambition's release, Trey Song praised the G-Unit frontman for his business savvy and musical instinct. "50's smarter than a lot of people give him credit for," he said. "The actual 'Smoke' record was for [Dr. Dre]. I was in with Dre. We did about five or six records three years ago."

    Silver Springs Lyrics

    Silver Springs
  • Stevie Nicks wrote this after her breakup with Lindsey Buckingham, the band's guitarist and her long time boyfriend. She wanted to make sure he would never forget about her: "I'll follow you down till the sound of my voice will haunt you." In 2009, she told Rolling Stone: "It was me realizing that Lindsey was going to haunt me for the rest of my life, and he has."
  • Nicks got the idea for the title when she saw a sign for Silver Spring, Maryland while driving with Lindsey. The name was, to her, so beautiful that she wrote it into the song.
  • This was supposed to appear on Fleetwood Mac's Rumours album, but it was cut due to space limitations of vinyl. In 2002, it appeared where it was supposed to on the DVD-A release of Rumours.
  • This was used as the B-side of the singles "Go Your Own Way" and "Don't Stop." It didn't appear on an album until their 1992 The Chain box set. It was also released on their 2002 greatest hits album. (thanks, Chris - Garner, NC, for all above)
  • Nicks used to check into hotels on the road under the alias "Miss Silver Spring."
  • This was bumped off the Rumors album by another song Nicks wrote called "I Don't Want To Know," which the rest of the band liked better and fit better on the album because it was shorter. Stevie was very upset with the decision and considered refusing to sing "I Don't Want To Know" in protest.
  • This was finally included in it's rightful place on the Rumours re-issue, released in 2004. This is a 2-disc set which also includes a longer bonus version of the song. (thanks, Sarah - Guess, Canada)
  • During this song's performance on Fleetwood Mac's 1994 DVD The Dance, halfway through the song while singing, Stevie turns towards Lindsay and appears to be singing directly to him. It was as if she was reminding him who the song was about. Once they locked eyes, you could see and feel the emotions they must have felt many years ago when they dated and eventually broke up. A very intense moment. (thanks, Dave - Philly, PA)
  • Stevie Nicks appeared on two episodes of the TV series American Horror Story: Coven, including the finale, where she performed "Seven Wonders" to open the show. Later in the episode, this song was used to underscore a scene where a witch was sent to burn at the stake.

For Some Ol Redneck Reason Lyrics

I love tearin' down some country road as the red sun's sinking down
Nothing but corn and cotton fields for miles and miles around
Down every twist and turn, there's another million dollar view
Some folks might not see it
But for some old redneck reason I do
I still wear my beat up boots and my old worn out jeans
I still say the blessing when I sit down to eat
And you can bet I mind my manners every time my momma walks in the room
Some folks don't think that matters
But for some old redneck reason I do

For some old redneck reason, sometimes I get the feelin'
Maybe I give too much of it now
I'm a little old fashion leanin', out of style and out of season
But I reckon that's just the way I am

Sometimes I lay here thinkin' ‘bout the good times that we had
Wonder why it all went wrong or the night it all went bad
And I probably shouldn't call you up, thinkin' I can patch things up with you
Oh, but when I get to drinking, for some old redneck reason I do

For some old redneck reason, sometimes I get the feelin'
Maybe I give too much of it now
I'm a little old fashion leanin', out of style and out of season
But I reckon that's just the way I am (Aw, how you feel about it Charlie?)

I was standing behind a couple teenage kids at a high school football game
They didn't take their hats off when the anthem was played
And I felt like jerkin a knot in their tail,
For disrespecting that old Red, White and Blue
Well now maybe I shouldn't get fightin' mad
But for some old redneck reason I do

  • Charlie Daniels adds vocals and fiddle to this pledge of allegiance to living true to principles and never giving into convention. Moore was bowled over that he was able to get the Country icon to contribute to this track. "While I was writing the song, I'm going, I have to somehow some way get Charlie Daniels on this," he told Radio.com . "I don't even know if I want the verse to be on there if he can't do it, because this is so him."

A month later, Moore played a show with Daniels and asked him to sing. "He told me, 'you tell me when and where and I'll be there,'" the singer recalled. "And to hear that from one of my heroes in this business, I was taken aback."

    Walk Lyrics

Can't you see I'm easily bothered by persistence
One step from lashing out at you
You want in to get under my skin
    And call yourself a friend
I've got more friends like you
    What do I do?

    Is there no standard anymore?
What it takes, who I am, where I've been
    Belong
You can't be something you're not
    Be yourself, by yourself
    Stay away from me
    A lesson learned in life
Known from the dawn of time

    [Chorus]
    Respect, Walk

Run your mouth when I'm not around
    It's easy to achieve
You cry to weak friends that sympathize

Can you hear the violins playing your song?
Those same friends tell me your every word

    Is there no standard anymore?
What it takes, who I am, where I've been
    Belong
You can't be something you're not
    Be yourself, by yourself
    Stay away from me

Known from the dawn of time

    There you go.
You're like fireworks and it's the fourth of July.
I can't turn away, look what you've done to me.
One more dance and I'm taking over,
    I need your touch.
One more dance when you're lickin' your lips,
I'm gonna have to rush this night,
    We should get outta here,
Might have to party for two,
Then you say you love me
    That talk is dangerous
I want you like I know you want me
    Am I saying too much?
Right now, say what you want to
    You can't make me blush.

    Step through the door
    Like you know you're fine
    Step on my floor
    Like you know you're fine
    You're on fire
    But you play it cool
    Every eye on you

    So don't blame me
For wanting you just too much
    You're sexy
And what you need's a Sexy Love
    All I see
Every time I look at you
    Is you are free
I just wanna be with you
    Give me that sexy love

You look so sexy, so sexy in my head
You look so sexy, so sexy in my bed
You look so sexy, so sexy in my head
You look so sexy, so sexy in my bed

    We got places to go
There's so much I wanna see
Let's make out on the low
    And just focus on us
I want you to feel like you're having the time of your life
And I can't wait to start like you're waiting, accept my invite

    Step through the door
    Like you know you're fine

    Sexy Love
  • This is one of three songs on the Kiss Me Once album that has variations of the word sex in the title. Kylie told Radio.com the triple use of the 's' word was just a coincidence. She explained: "When (executive producer) Sia and I were working on the album, she said, 'We haven't got the sexy track. We don't have the 'Slow' for this album yet. So, we recorded 'Sexercize' and thought boom, that's it, 'Sexercise' thank you."

"And then a few weeks later, MNDR, delivered this fantastic track 'Les Sex.' Sia contacted me saying I don't mean to put a spanner in the works, but this song 'Les Sex' has come through and it's really good, and it is really good, so we recorded 'Les Sex,'" she continued. "Then a couple of months later 'Sexy Love' came in, which is just disco dancehall fantastic, so I recorded that."

"At this point, you don't know which songs will make the album, so it was okay to have three songs with 'sex' in the title," Kylie added. "As it turns out, they all made it on the album, so that's that. I tried to change the title and double, tripled checked do I need all of these songs. And I do, because they do different things."

Your pride has built a wall, so strong
    That I can't get through
    Is there really no chance

    I'm loving you

    Try, baby try

    Still Loving You
  • This is a very emotional song of love and pain and wishing for another chance. In our interview with Scorpions guitarist Rudolf Schenker , he explained: "I came up with the composition's melody and everything. It took about six years of trying to get the song somehow on the album. Matthias Jabs came in with the guitar part, and the feeling was immediately right, so Klaus (Meine) noticed it was right. Therefore, he wanted to write something very special. He told me about how one day he went out into the fields in the snow, and it was then that he came up with the lyrics. He came back home and threw them down, and here we are. It's a story about a love affair where they recognized it may be over, but let's try again. It's the old story; always the old story. I mean, what can we use? We can't reinvent the wheel. What we always do, is say something which has already been said many times, in our own way."
  • This was written in crescendo: a calm acoustic start followed by power chords as Klaus Meine sings in a voice full of pain.
  • This song hit the charts all over the world, but it was especially popular in France, where it went to #1. In fact, it was so popular that it may have increased the population of the country. Rudolf Schenker told us: "'Still Loving You,' the song of love, created a baby boom in France. But we didn't believe it, either, you know? We were on a TV show in France between recordings, and the host, a very famous guy that interviews us each year, goes, 'Hey, guys, you know that you are responsible for the baby boom in '85.' We were laughing like crazy! And yes, it's been measured by the government. It's unbelievable, I tell you."

  • According to the London Daily Mail of January 11, 2012, this was the first Lionel Bart song ever published, and earned him the princely sum of 25 guineas. It was recorded for The Billy Cotton Band Show, a radio program broadcast on the BBC. Bart, who was born Lionel Begleiter, was a composer of songs and musicals. It's not the heat
    It's the inhumanity
Plugged into the sweat of a summer street
    Machine gun images pass
Like malice through the looking glass

    The slackjaw gaze
    Of true profanity
Feels more like surrender than defeat
If culture is the curse of the thinking class
If culture is the curse of the thinking class

    Turn and turn again

    Feeling unlimited
    Still unsatisfied
    Changes never end

    The vacant laugh
    Of true insanity
Dressed up in the mask of Tragedy
Programmed for the guts and glands
Of idle minds and idle hands

    I rest my case -
    Or at least my vanity
Dressed up in the mask of Comedy
If laughter is a straw for a drowning man
If laughter is a straw for a drowning man

    Cosmos Rockin' Lyrics

    Cosmos Rockin'
  • This is a powerful, old-fashioned rocker written by Queen drummer Roger Taylor. It follows the traditional chord progression format of 1950s and '60s Rock 'n' Roll songs.
  • Due to it's simple, high-energy sound, the song became a live favorite on the Cosmos Rocks tour, where it was used to start the encore. This can be seen in the Live in Ukraine DVD and other live recordings from around this time.

I Think We're Alone Now Lyrics

Children behave, that's what they say when we're together
    And watch how you play
    They don't understand
    And so we're

Running just as fast as we can, holding on to one another hands
Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground and then you say

    I Think We're Alone Now,
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
    I think we're alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

Look at the way we gotta hide what we're doin'
    'Cause what would they say
    If they ever knew
    And so we're

Running just as fast as we can, holding on to one another hands
Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground and then you say

    I think we're alone now,
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
    I think we're alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

    I think we're alone now,
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
    I think we're alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

Running just as fast as we can, holding on to one another hands
Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground and then you say

    I think we're alone now,
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
    I think we're alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

    I think we're alone now,
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
    I think we're alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

    I think we're alone now,
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
    I think we're alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

    I think we're alone now,
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
    I think we're alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

    I Think We're Alone Now
  • This was originally recorded by Tommy James & the Shondells in 1967. It was written by Ritchie Cordell, a producer at Roulette Records who wrote many of their hits. Their version hit #4 in the US.
  • Tiffany (last name: Darwisch) was just 15 years old when this song was released in the summer of 1987. She was 16 when the album went to #1 in January 1988, making her the youngest female singer to top the US albums chart, and also the first singer born in the '70s to hit the top spot.
  • Tiffany was just 13 years old when she started recording with producer George Tobin, who met her a year earlier and was impressed with her talent. Tobin, who owned his own studio in Los Angeles, had produced Kim Carnes ("More Love") and Smokey Robinson ("Being With You"). He couldn't find an appropriate manager for Tiffany, so he handled the business side of her affairs after signing her to a production deal.

Finding good, original songs is hard for an unknown singer, since the top songwriters want to place their cuts with established acts. So Tobin looked for cover songs for Tiffany, and came up with "I Think We're Alone Now," which she wasn't thrilled with but recorded anyway. Tobin then shopped her to record companies, and after being turned down by Clive Davis and about a dozen others, found a taker in Steve Moir at MCA Records. Unfortunately, Moir left MCA soon after, and the company gave Tiffany little support. It became clear that she wasn't going to succeed through traditional means, so Tobin went to the MCA "special projects" division and hatched an idea: the mall tour.

Starting in Paramus, New Jersey, the then 16-year-old Tiffany toured shopping malls, singing for free to whoever would listen. It was a novel approach, and it worked very well, especially when media outlets covered the story of this teenager who sang for shoppers. The mall crowd (young girls) was a great fit for Tiffany, who a way to reach this audience long before there was Twitter.
  • The song that replaced this at #1 in the US was Billy Idol's version of "Mony Mony," which was also a cover of a Tommy James & the Shondells song.
  • This was used in the movie Jawbreaker, starring Rose McGowan. (thanks, Katie - Goulburn, Australia)
  • Tiffany recalled to Billboard magazine in a 2011 interview: "When I heard that my hit song had went #1, I was washing dishes. I was doing my chores because I was a teenager, of course. My manager called me and said 'Congratulations, you have the number one single in the country.' I said, 'You know what? I have to get off the phone because I have to finish my chores otherwise I'm going to be busted and I won't be able to do anything.' And, he's like, 'You don't get it'... but I had to finish those chores."

    Jazz (Delicious Hot, Disgusting Cold)
  • This Gorilla cut found the Bonzos savagely parodying their early "trad" jazz roots. Founder member Neil Innes recalled the story of the song to Uncut magazine: "It was decided to do this as a dada track, one take, and whatever happened that was it. Viv (Stanshall) picked up the trumpet, which he'd never played before. Rodney (Slater) took up the trombone, which he'd never played before. Roger (Ruskin Spear) moved over to clarinet. And we steamed into this 32 bar sequence, as you hear it on the record. It makes me laugh every time I hear it."
