Gill began writing this following the untimely death of Country music superstar Keith Whitley. Gill didn't finish the song until a few years later following the death of his brother. Thus, the song is a tribute song to both Keith Whitley and Gill's brother.

Additional background vocals were provided by Patty Loveless and Ricky Skaggs.

Gill played this song during his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in February 2009. He explained he penned it after his older brother Bob's death from a heart attack in 1993. "I wrote this song, and I didn't have any idea if anybody would want to hear it, or like it. All I wanted to do was grieve for him and celebrate his life. That's how I always process grief—sit down with a guitar and make something up. Turns out that if anybody remembers any of my songs, it'll be this one."

This won the 1995 Grammy Award for Best Country Song.

DJ Khaled recruited an all-star line up for this tribute to the late rappers Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. Diddy supplies the introduction and sporadic ad-libs, while Swizz Beatz tackles the hook and Rick Ross, Meek Mill and T.I. handle the verses over The Beat Bully's drum-lined instrumental. "When I made 'I Feel Like Pac / I Feel Like Biggie' me and Swizz was in the studio and I played Swizz the beat and I gave him a vision of who I wanted to be on the record. Swizz came up with this hook: 'I feel like 'Pac,' " Khaled told MTV News .

"That chemistry with me and Swizz was amazing when we were cooking that, but at the same time I couldn't have put just any rapper on that record so I put Ross, I put Meek and I put T.I.," he added.

Khaled explained why he chose Rick Ross, Meek and T.I. for the verses. "Ross is one of the biggest rappers in the game and one of the hardest gangsta rappers in the game and that's what Biggie and 'Pac was," said Khaled. "And then you got T.I., another brother from the south who's one of the hardest rappers in the game and in and out of jail, going through so much s--t. If you really look at T.I.'s story, he done been through a lot of sh--, as well as Ross.

"Then you got Meek Mill, who has been through a lot of s--t, and where he comes from, from a young age. If you look at his story, he's like a young 'Pac, " he continued. "Nobody's like 'Pac and Biggie, nobody's sounding like 'em. I'm talking about the energy."

The song's allusions to Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. stirred up emotions amongst some who knew them. "[They] sold you out, B.I.G.," former Notorious B.I.G. sidekick Ma$e said on his Instragram account hours after the song was released. "I hate the way your legacy has been watered down… Let him rest."

This ode to underwhelming men finds Brown turning the tables on misogynist males. "It's something for the girls and the gay boys. There hasn't been a song about that for a long time. American model and actor Nick Baga plays Brown's love interest. With two Grammy Awards from this album, Clarkson is the most successful winner of American Idol to date.

This song almost didn't make it onto the Breakaway album; when Clarkson heard the first, acoustic version of the song, she didn't like it. It wasn't until it was given a rocking treatment that she warmed to the song.

This was written and produced by Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald and Max Martin. Gottwald recalled the genesis of the song to Billboard magazine: "That was a conscious move by Max and myself, because we were listening to alternative and indie music and talking about some song-I don't remember what it was. I said, 'Ah, I love this song,' and Max was like, 'If they would just write a damn pop chorus on it!' It was driving him nuts, because that indie song was sort of on six, going to seven, going to eight, the chorus comes . . . and it goes back down to five. It drove him crazy. And when he said that, it was like, light bulb. 'Why don't we do that, but put a big chorus on it?' It worked."

It was Sony Music chief creative officer Clive Davis' idea to give the song to Clarkson, but Martin and Gottwald, certain that they had written a rock hit, were initially reluctant. "They weren't prepared for the casting idea," Davis recalled to Billboard magazine. "Max was looking to move on from what he had done with Backstreet Boys, and I really spent time convincing them that an American Idol winner could bring all the feeling and passion that was required to the song."

Clive Davis claimed in his memoir, The Soundtrack of My Life, that Clarkson burst into 'hysterical sobbing' in his office when he demanded that this song be included on her album.

"Not true at all," Clarkson responded. "His stories and songs are mixed up. I did want more guitars added to the original demo and Clive did not. Max, Luke and I still fought for the bigger sound and we prevailed and I couldn't be more proud of the life of that song. I resent him dampening that song in any way."

Ester Dean and Skylar Astin perform the song during the audition sequences of the 2012 musical comedy film, Pitch Perfect.

Dr. Luke and Max Martin originally wrote the song with Pink in mind, but she turned it down. They then reached out to Hilary Duff but she rejected the song because she couldn't reach its higher notes. Clive Davis then convinced the producers to give the song to Clarkson.

This track from Janelle Monae's debut EP The Audition finds her recalling getting sacked from her job selling ink and erasers at Office Depot. The young singer had been caught using a computer to update her MySpace page and communicate with fans on her website.

Nathan Larson covered this in 1999, and his version was used as the title song of the film Boys Don't Cry, for which Hilary Swank won the 1999 Oscar for Best Actress. Larson is the husband of Nina Persson , the lead singer of the Swedish pop group The Cardigans.

"Boys Don't Cry" was The Cure's second ever single release in June 1979 and it wasn't a hit at the time. In 1986 a new version was released as a single in which the original track was remixed and the vocals re-recorded. This time it reached #22 in the UK charts.

Oleander recorded this for their album February Son and released their version as a single. Reel Big Fish often plays the song in concert, and Razorlight performed this at The Cure's "MTV Icon" ceremony in 2004.

The track also provided the title for British Children's laureate Malorie Blackman's 2011 young adult novel. The book tackles issues of masculinity and teenage fatherhood.

Legend penned this track with Kanye West and Jeff Bhasker, the man behind much of Yeezy's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album. The song features a vocal contribution from Seal. Legend explained during his NYC iHeart Radio Live show how his collaboration with the English singer-songwriter came to be: "Kanye was working at the Mercer hotel in New York. He was mainly working on Watch the Throne at that time, with Jay-Z," he recalled. "He invited me over every once in a while to work on my album, when he had time to pull himself away from Watch the Throne. He ran into Seal in the lobby of the Mercer and invited him up to the room where we were working. Seal and I, Kanye and Jeff Bhasker wrote the song together in that moment."

"Whenever you write a song especially early in the process of the album, you never know what's gonna happen with it but this one came out beautifully," Legend added.

The Saga Begins

This parody of Don McLean's song "American Pie" summarizes the movie Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace in five-and-a-half minutes. It goes full-geek, getting into details like the journey to Coruscant and an encounter with Anakin at Tatooine.

The song is exceptionally long, but that's part of the joke: "American Pie" was one of the longest hit songs ever recorded, running 8:33.

This song was released before Star Wars: Episode I came out in theaters. Yankovic learned plot points by going online to check out spoilers for the movie.

George Lucas was OK with this, and happy to get the Weird Al treatment, as it built anticipation for the film.

Don McLean was pleased with the parody and even told Al that his lyrics sometimes enter his mind during concerts. Most of Al's fans had no knowledge of McLean's song from 1971, but the year after "The Saga Begins" was released, Madonna did a Dance cover of "American Pie." Many listeners wondered by Madonna was remixing a Weird Al song.
